In another encouraging takeaway for Democrats, NBC/WSJ found that Democrats’ ground game may be paying dividends in early voting.
Obama is winning Ohioans who have already cast their ballot by a 63-37 percent margin, and they make up 1 in 5 of the poll’s respondents.
Early voting began the day before the first debate, giving Romney an opportunity to potentially bank some ballots ahead of Election Day with his strong performance, but it seems from NBC’s results that Obama still has the edge there.
Some 92 percent of voters also said their minds were made up before the debate, suggesting that Romney may have somewhat small — though still significant — base to court in the final weeks.
Meanwhile, if you really want to make your head spin with relevant but sometimes contradictory polling information but always brilliant analysis, check out Nate Silver’s column today.
What we can draw from both these pieces is that we are not yet in a situation where the tables have turned on President Obama and he is now the underdog. He is certainly NOT yet the underdog.
President Obama is still ahead in the electoral vote math and probably about even in the national popular vote.
If Biden and Obama do well tonight and next Tuesday, respectively, we can expect the President to regain a modest lead in the popular vote and solidify a lead in the electoral projections.

Democrat Motto 'Vote Early and Often!'
Republican motto. Vote early, vote often, and shoot any one who might vote democratic. What are all those guns for after all, if you do not use em to do "God's work".
No one has ever won an election in October!
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.
This is the only reason I don't like early voting. What effect will this have on those who have not voted? Maybe this kind of thing is where we democrats get the "lazy voters" bad rep.
Ryan/ Biden tonight. I think since MR. P90 Paulie Boy does not want to be called Congressman tonight he should resign from the house today since apparently he is ashamed of the title. I know I am ashamed that he is a US COngressman.
I swear ...while watching the hearing on Benghazi I heard strange noises from outside .I could tell they were far away ...I heard moans all the way from Portland to Seattle ..from San Fran to L. A. ...from Pennsylvania to Vermont....I heard screeching transvestites in Boston and crying noodle nibblers in California...The screams and cries of the gays were sailing on the west winds ..from Colorado to New York .....it seems they know their messiah has failed .........
Don't feel so sad Sallyman...Ryan might still win back his seat in Congress! Ha Ha Ha!
sed - you're a fool!
Ha Ha Ha You're the fool Sallygirl!
Right sully you hear things we could have told you that. Why sully from your posts we believe you think those voices in your head is Reagan speaking to you from the grave.
He lost his cable,so now he's holding a seance! Boo!
whomi - "Right sully you hear things we could have told you that" You could have told me Obama is failing! Maybe there is hope for you after all.
What's the Tee Potty gonna do when Woolard loses and he will. Joe's not gonna hold back, its not like him to be like Barrack more softly spoken. Joe's gonna leave Lyan Ryan's cryin'
xxx - you mean like Barack uninformed and unprepared, like he has been his whole presidency... LMAO!
Thank God, poor debate performances are the worst way to go about it but, maybe they result in more voter turnout because if we don't win this election Republicans will believe they have a clear mandate for their delusional far right agenda. There's only two things we need to win this election. One, more voter turnout then in 2008. Two, not only through the election, but through the next four years we have to continue to sell what progressive policies do for every one of us in a real world way. They mean construction workers can count on more jobs because Democrats fight for infrastructure investment. Reelecting Pres. Obama protects Obama care and women from having to pay higher health care premiums than men. With Pres. Obama back in office the immigration bill will be written by Democrats not Arizona Republicans. President Obama's balanced budget is paid for so our children won't have to bear the burden of tax cuts for the wealthy that don't create jobs and that we still don't know how Republicans would pay for. Wall Street regulations will not be repealed so the law will continue to demand that big banks set up a living will so if there in risk of going under they have to have a prepared plan to bail themselves out so we don't have to. If we reelect Pres. Obama we will continue to benefit from not having to pay for preventative care, health screenings or annual checkups, all of which keeps us healthier, saving us and the system money over the long haul. 2012 and beyond.
Sounds like its a done deal. Obama's best hope is to get lots of votes in the bag before the rest of the debates. Smart strategy. He'd be a cooked goose if he sucked up the next two even half as bad as the first.
President Obama has an excellent ground operation in these swing states. He has plenty of field offices that have been contacting voters in all the swing states en mass. The organization and efficiency of the Obama campaign will make up for GOP Super-PAC money. Also many autoworkers in Ohio will vote for the President Obama because he saved the auto industry when Romney said he wanted it to go bankrupt. This has saved at least one million jobs alone in the Midwest. This election will be closer than some of thought but then again this election has been a long one. We have to stay focused as Democrats because Obama will pull this one out. Romney has a lot of contradictions in his agenda.
Ask yourself how many independent women concerned about their reproductive health rights will vote for Romney/Ryan after the GOP's war on women? Ask yourself how many Hispanics will vote for the GOP after their filibustering of the Dream Act? Ask yourself how many poor people without health insurance will vote for Romney/Ryan when they promise to repeal the Affordable Care Act? How many autoworkers will vote for Romney/Ryan when Romney said let Detroit go bankrupt?
President Obama and Democrats need to keep working for people's votes. Ignore the polls. Please go out and support President Obama along with a straight Democratic ballot in your local elections.
Rex - you mean excellent voter-fraud operations. Americans are finally waking up which is why Romney is ahead is most polls now!
Ha Ha Ha! What? Do my ears deceive me? Sallyman believes the polls now? Why just a week or so ago he was saying all the polls were bunk! He was saying they were all a left wing conspiracy! What happened Sallyman? Did God tell you in a dream that the left wing conspiracy was over? Ha Ha Ha!
You can't have it both ways hypocrite! Ha Ha Haaaaaa! Idiot!
sed - I'm starting to see a pattern here. I never said a week ago that I believed all the polls were bunk. Go back and try and find the post where I said that and copy and paste it here. I won't hold my breath!
whomi claimed the other day that I said something in May that I never did.
Is that the new strategy here? If a conservative puts up a post you can't deny or argue with you claim he said the total opposite in a previous post? Seems more than a coincidence to me. Especially given the way liberals lie to prove their point!
You're the one that is obviously the idiotic hypocrite!
Right sully it was american stinker that said it and you just repeated it.
LOL
there sure is a lot of the whinny a$$ cult trolls at scream.
Sullyman2112. Are you sure your positions make sense? Liberals may well lie to prove their point, but on balance, Republicans lie just to get you so used to the idea that lies and truth are up for political argument and that their most absurd lies are just truth for republicans. Painful for those of us who remember yesterday, and know something about economics, religion, and international politics.
fred - I know for a fact yours don't make sense! You're another brainwashed lib who repeats the Democratic talking points
LOL poor sully just can't grasp that one of the reasons the democrats have such a hard time getting their message out is because the message can't be broken down into a bunch of meaningless words with no substance and liberals are not dumb conservatives who talking points work on because if it doesn't have substance then its worthless. Really sully republicans are running against a Obama that doesn't exist they made that Obama up in their own minds you know like you make up peoples life styles who post in here in your own mind. It is called delusions sully really there are meds you can take that will stop your delusions but you have to admit you have a problem.
Sullyman is a legend in his own diseased mind. He never offers sources or solutions for making America's problems better. The point is the unemployment rate would be at 6% if the American Jobs Act and the Small business tax credit bills had been passed on time. Three million jobs are what economists say these two bills combined would have created. So when the GOP bitches and complains about the high rate of unemployment they are being amazingly disingenuous and totally hypocritical.
The GOP is run like a corporation that it serves. Democrats are made up of diverse groups of people from all sorts of different social and economic or ethnic backgrounds. If you enjoy being told what to think and wish to carry an agenda of hatred, intolerance, xenophobia, and right winged zealotry today's GOP is the party for you. I will support President Obama in November. Like most Democrats, I want rational discussions and rational decision making that builds our country up for our kids. Conservatives seek to tear America down by their radicalism.
Biden won this one. Romney won the first one. But more importantly is the differences in the candidates and what they believe. Since I was born and raised poor and am now happy in the middle class, I agree with the democrats. The poor rich need to suck it up and pay more tax. Romney won't even release his tax returns knowing how damaing they would be.
