The Affordable Care Act is no longer about letting employers take financial advantage of providing insurance to full time people and not part time people, it is about what the employer can afford based on the number of workers a company has employed.
EMPLOYER MANDATE:
• Employers with 50 or more workers are subject to fees if they don’t offer health coverage or if any employee receives subsidized coverage through an exchange.
• Employers with more than 200 workers who provide health insurance are required to enroll their employees automatically in a health plan, giving them the opportunity to opt out.
(Maybe some employers in the past could not pay $200 per employee for health care, but that does not mean that larger companies cannot pay about $50 per employee under new costs and share the cost with the employee. The Affordable Care Act is not going to make or break any restaurant corporation anymore than rolling back the top Bush tax cuts would.)
