Romney protested in favor of the Vietnam War, in college he joined a counter protest of students wanting to end the war. Then when his lot was drawn his spent a couple years in France with a couple of his buddies into a summer home with a personal chef and butler. From there he went into business where he always did his best to dodge taxes, taxes which pay for the wars Romney supports but won't trouble himself to actually fight in.

Romney cynically planned all along to hit Obama at the debate stage with the blizzard of lies he in fact put forward. He and his campaign have relied all along on a base of "low-information" voters (i.e., morons and bigots) who will listen to anything once, and if it appears convincing on TV, it's instant "truth"; facts are irrelevant. This is his strategy, since he has no consistent record of policy positions or personal beliefs he can fall back on, only telegenics and the evil brilliance of Frank Luntz. Unless Obama and Biden attack, ATTACK the man and his cynicism, not the more moderate policy positions he lied about last week, they are toast. Biden has to rely on the chops he displayed in bringing down Robert Bork to clean Ryan's clock and expose his reactionary budget priorities for what they are: a contagion on the middle and working class.

One problem that I haven't heard yet is that Obama's behavior reminded those of us who have thought that Obama was a weak President - that he gave up too much in every negotiation before the negotiation started - were reminded of what has frustrated us for three and a half years.
