No. Republicans will make America look like 3rd world countries. Rich will get richer and poor will get poorer. In last debate Mitt Romney lied on so many things just to be a good guy now ans stay on the side of middles class. Truth is, if he goes to whitehouse he will do just opposite and do what he is been saying for last months. He will start another war, give his rich buddies defense contracts and bring America to be hateful in the world again.
Republicans can only talk a good game, they just can't do anything to improve America. They don't seem to think about the country or the people. Just their party.
No , they have prov-en that they could care less about Americans ; Unless you make more than $1 Mil. per year ! For All others that earn less than that ; they could care less and act as though we are contaminated with some kind of virus or something that makes us financially incapable of being within Their class , if you wish to call that Class !
president barrack obama is dammed if he do and dammed if he don't. just pure hatred of this president. sad and they say they are for the 100% really. should be happy that some of americans are back working. oh well , congrats to the americans that are back working so that they can take care of themselves and family.
NO... at least not while President Obama, or any Democrat is in the White House.
Now I have some breaking news... I have discovered what was on President Obama's mind that distracted him during the debate. He had this song stuck in his head and couldn't get it out, so he was jotting it down on his pad as Mutt rambled on and on telling lies.
Stuck In The Middle With Mitt
Well I don't know why I came here tonight
I've got this feeling that something ain't right
I'd rather be away with Michelle
And I'd rather be ringing her bell
Frowns to the left of me, jokers to the right
Here I am stuck in the middle with Mitt
Yes, I'm stuck in the middle with Mitt
And what he's saying just don't seem to fit
It should be hard for Mitt to make his own case
Without losing all control of his base
Frowns to the left of me, jokers to the right
Here I am stuck in the middle with Mitt
Mitt says he started off with nothing
And he's proud to be a self-made man
Mitt's righty base they come a calling
And slap him on the back and say, "Tax cuts please, no rules yeah"
Well I'm trying to make some sense of it all
But I can see it makes no sense at all
Mitt's supposed to be a huge bore
I don't think he has much of a core
Frowns to the left of me, jokers to the right
Here I am stuck in the middle with Mitt
Well I started out with nothing
And I really am a self-made man
Got a law degree at Harvard
And President of United States, "God help me, please, yeah."
Well I don't know why I came here tonight
Got this feeling that something ain't right
This debate is simply going nowhere
Mitt's just denying all of his plans, if he dare
Frowns to the left of me, jokers to the right
Here I am stuck in the middle with Mitt
Yes there are frowns to the left of me, jokers to the right
Here I am stuck in the middle with Mitt
Yes, I'm hoping very soon that he'll quit
Well I'm stuck in the middle with Mitt
Yeah, Mitt's base is surely having a fit
Yeah, I'm stuck in the middle with Mitt
As a finale and just for fun one of my fave vids.... cutest kitten in hamster ball stuck in the middle

No. It's the usual whining centrical party of GOP sore losers. Can't stand any good news for the country escecially if it's on Obamas watch.
Today Jack Welch of GE has told as if President is manipulating the unemployment rate what is now 4 years low 7.8 %. Jack W. is just like Mitt R. He was a greedy CEO, laid off employees to get his bonus money, has shifted thousands and thousands of jobs to other countries, ruined many many cities in America by closing all those manufacturing jobs. THIS IS WHAT MUST STOP IN AMERICA. Nobody should vote people who supports this such as Mitt Romney.
You know I don't watch FOX. Bunch is dumb as a BOX of ROX.
Now I do watch some MSLSD I mean for entertainment value its hard to beat. Ole ED at the diner saying the Man has to hire more workers, and going up to Wisconsin to celebrate the Walker win and who will ever forget Chris and Ed's melt down after the debate, classic. I mean you can't buy that kind of entertainment, Classic and Funnnnyyy. Oh boy and Madcow, she is a... i mean, she is a she right??? and who can forget Olberman, was that his name?? Now he was a trip wasn't he, I think he was shooting dope right on the set. What the heck is Keith doing these days, craachk or meth?? Then the famed socialist, O'donnel, he's... well you know.. not so entertaining, but I tell you what he can do well, he's like a gifted hypotomist - Put you right to sleep, it's amazing...
I watch MSLSD to see what the world would look like if you were a Lunatic. In that way it is very instructive and I guess you could say..SAD. Lots of Sadness over on MSLSD, little rigged polls, little cheessy matthews stepping all over everyone like they are ants,
But One Piece of Advice. AVOID MSLSD on the weekends. FOX is bad but we ain't got words for the weekend programing over at MSLSD... One would think that the inmates are running the network.
After such a dismal debate, this was the boost that our President needed. I tried to post last night, but I was not able to. For some reason the this site wouldn't let me post. I am so glad to be able to join in this discussion. Now, the Republicans are now upset because unemployment dropped. They are now saying corruption and conspiracy rather than embracing that people are actually getting jobs. The Republicans have stood in the way by any bill, even ones they proposed, that would create jobs. They are the only ones who use corruption to get what they want. Using over 400 filibusters to block bills from passing. More than all the total years in our history. Shame on Republican politicians who spent the entire last 4 years trying to make sure that they achieved their main goal, make Obama a one term President. Their goal was not to work with the Democrats and the President to help turn this country around. These are not the Republicans that held office when I was young. SHAME ON THESE PEOPLE who put keeping their wealth and increasing their wealth on the backs of the middle class, the working poor and the seniors.
@ 1.4 D Scully : Great post. Good analysis.
Fantastic news!!!
Thankful Mom, I love your new avatar. My kids grew up on Big Bird. It just goes to show how low Republican and Mitt Romney will go to cut spending instead of raising even $1 of their own taxes. Now they are not only keeping and adding to their wealth on the backs of the middle class, poor and seniors, they are doing it on the backs of our children. How disgusting is that. Glad to be back in the discussions tonight.
Sen, As usual great post. Thanks for your comments in my post of Thrusday. Now those republicats are claiming conspiracy! When a person himself is dishonest, hes (they) think that all others are also dishonest. That is exactly happened in several states, as republicats got caught cheating in voter registration! That is what they thought of Democrats, but come to find out they are the ones cheating! Nixon used to say "I am not crook" , and he had to resign. Bob dole and Canter , Rove and others are all liers!
@ 1.7 So how do you know what's going on at Fox if you're always watching MSNBC?
BTW.....You are nasty, vile and hateful........and in your own words a lunatic.
The Republicans are only interested only what goes into their pockets, not what is good for Americans. God help us if another Conservatives even gets close to Pennsylvania Avenue.
OBAMA/BIDEN
DScully 1.4 Very clever!
D.SCULLY - From what I heard,he was busy drawing a sketch of Mitt Romney and the rest of the republican party driving over a cliff while partying on a bus ( party bus !!!!! ).
Thanks Val. I've got a 66 T-bird, and since it is know as the "Big Bird" I have one that rides with me. and Is in the drivers seat at every Car Show.
How dare Willard go after PBS. All Our kids grew up with it. Theat is how they started to discover math, spelling and writing their letters. Please, the man is an idiot.
Ted
Are you calling President Obama a doodler?! Of course I've heard doodling can set free the creative processes.

Thanks kv
I got the idea this a.m. and spent a couple of hours reworking the words to that song.
Just another dumb poll... form the special Ed show...
@Mac
That is exactly right.... which is why they accuse the Dems of doing all of the cheating and dirty tricks they are doing, ie. voter fraud, race baiting, class warfare, etc.
In reality, the Repugs/TEApugs are the only ones doing any of that, but blaming Dems of the same helps them justify their unethical and dishonest behavior.
@ 1.12 Mac : Thank you. I agree. It is so important to speak out loud if or when repubs will try to rig or suppress voters in this election. They will try that. They have been caught already. They are getting away with murder. We must be able to punish them in the court of law. WE NEED A LAW.
@Sen
But we already do have laws to prosecute "real" voter fraud when it happens, but the problem is getting those committing real voter fraud prosecuted when the Repugs are in charge of that Federal prosecution and don't want to prosecute those guilty.... as they helped get their candidate re-elected.
When the shady voter registration guy, Spiel?, was caught tearing up and trashing Democratic registrations in 2004, GW Bush appointee, Fed. Prosecutor Ashcroft failed, ie. chose not to prosecute the case. Which of course allowed the shady voter fraud guy to be available to help the RNC do the same thing with this year's campaign.
It was revealed today that Mitt Romney got a $1,000,000 contribution from Toronto-based insurance giant Fairfax Financial Holdings, a CANADIAN corporation.
D.SCULLY - He more than likely would rather doodle than listen to Romney's BS since he already knows that he's gonna have to get a set of CHEST WADERS having to listen to him dish out more BS later on.
Liked the song DS....did you listen to the others?
@Ted
Yep... that's the truth. Mutt's BS is about chest deep already.
@TMom
Yep... listened to all of them. I love this one about MA.

Very good DScully!
They only embrace their own personal accomplishments and the achievements of those that can help them.The poor and the middle class have nothing to offer these kind of people.This is why they must be treated as the enemy.What is really sorry is how they are trying to rob from the people that are not as fortunate.President Obama is a threat to these kind of people from many angles.He is there to serve all of us not just the well to do.If we can ever get so called Conservatives to lighten up and realize this is a United country and we all stand together and help one another to reach the goal of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.Why should we pay more or why should our tax dollars go for food stamps or health care is what they say and so forth.President Kennedy said ask not what you country can do for you ask what you can do for your country. Well helping people in need is helping your counrty.Taking a tax hike to boost the economy right now is helping your country.Universal health care is helping your country.Finding other sources of energy is helping our country and our planet and it also says to the Middle East we don't need your oil.Tolerating everyones fellings and beliefs helps our country in the eyes of the world.This is supposed to be the land where everyone can come and not be persecuted for their beliefs ans not have others beliefs imposed on them.This is the way our founding fathers wanted us to live.Ok you can stop playing that damn Fife any time now!
RE: Comment #1.4, (@DScully-2892243),
That's not quite true. The GOP didn't display such hostility to good news in '96, leading up to Clinton's 2nd term. Moreover, Gingrich, et al. were able to compromise with Clinton on overhauling Welfare and paying down the deficit. However, when Obama was elected, the ideological divide between the Democrats & Republicans in Congress had effectively become insurmountable, with Boehner & Co. deeming "compromise" to be a dirty concept - although I cant's see where there is any functional difference between "compromise" and "finding common ground." And Boehner is about as close to a Moderate Republican as there is in the House, albeit not the Sensible Center that Senator Snowe so proudly talks about.
Gingrich at least had the Contract for America, as morally bankrupt as it turned out to be. Moreover, during the Clinton Administration, being a Moderate Republican wasn't yet an endangered political species. In addition, Hillary was the target of hostility, especially given that she was effectively in charge of the health care proposal.
To the contrary, the GOP, as a Party, decided to conspire against Obama, and by extension, against recovery or any other program that would be good for America, if such was deemed to make Obama look good and improve his odds of being reelected.
What remains to be seen, is if the GOP's hostility against Obama is so severe that it continues after he gets reelected; Obama can no longer run for reelection and the only possible target of continued hostility is targeted against Obama's legacy.
If any of the GOP leadership remains capable of rational thought, there ought to be a growing realization that continued hostility to good news about America will only be counterproductive to even the short-term interests of the GOP for 2014, and more especially for 2016, if Hillary does decide to run for President again, in which case the demented Senator DeMint and the rest of the TEA Party ilk will become an albatross to the Republican Party's continued viability.
[BTW, @DScully, I like your changes to the Stealer's Wheel song to reflect the realities of that deplorable debate Wednesday night.
Chuck
from my prospective it is Obama that is distrusted not dems in general. I believe if Hilliary had run and won 2010 would not have happened in such a landslide and house would have found common ground with her just like Bill.
Obama is mistrusted he is believed to be a socialist in sheeps clothing who if given a second term his true colors will come out. True or not true that is what most republicans believe. If he wins that fear will come out out the house will double down.
@1.25 D Scully : I understand your comment. I think it is time that Attorney General overtake and prosecute those thugs. Otherwise GOPs will not stop and will continue to do so until they win. IT MUST BE STOPPED BEFORE THAT HAPPENS.
Too bad we can't afford that.
Too bad a tax hike won't even make a dent in our current operating expenses, let alone do anything to reduce the deficit.
If you call expediting our bankruptcy help, then yes.
Artificially manipulating markets and determining winners and losers by subsidizing green energy and penalizing petroleum and fossil fuels is not helping our country.
@Clayton Bigsby Jr:We can afford it by ending the wars and charging a fee on all stock transactions. A tax hike wiil make a difference by taxing those who pay to little in taxes. The money we make off transaction fees will help pay for the Universal Health Care and the money saved from ending the wars and cutting the Military budget will pay for education.On energy who said anything about manipulating markets we are not going to do this the Republican way. We are going to stop the tax breaks to big oil and put this into Green energy programs.The oil companies in America can do there share to help too.
You know I don't see how its fair to continue to send poor folks to war when we don't want to do anything to help them survive.It is beginning sound as if this is the plan for the poor. To build the up the military and send the poor to war.We can feed them Sea Rations while their fighting then if they come home they can just go to hell.Just keep making them soldiers poor mothers.If you don't want to join the military then you can work 2 full time jobs and 2 part time jobs just to keep a place to change your clothes and grab a sandwich between gigs.Unless of course you folks are rich or if you happen to fall into some money like win the lottery.What a wonderful world the Republicans have in store for us.
Another thing comes to mind. If tyranny isn't worth fighting in our own country then why should we go and fight it in another country. Wake Up America!
Sorry tc, but that's just a bunch of the idiocy that comes from the right, in their attempts to camophlage their racism and bigotry. The only reason Hillary MIGHT have been more acceptable to the Repugs is because she's white instead of black.
But to tell you the truth, considering the hatred that has been displayed for Hillary by the right ever since she was the First Lady... I can't see them being very willing to work with her either.... because she's woman which is of course a second class citizen in the eyes of most conservative men.
As far as Obama being distrusted as a socialist... that is also a load of rightwing crap and rhetoric... since Obama has proven himself to be a moderate to the extreme. He has also proven himself to be willing to go far beyond the center line to try to work with and compromise with Repugs.
In fact, all of the policies and legislation Obama has advocated such as the healthcare reform, the Dream act, etc were all originally Republican legislation. And Obama purposely used those policy ideas from the GOP, in an effort to have some bi-partisan agreement.
The INSANE thing is.... in every one of those cases... even the Repugs who originally promoted those pieces of legislation suddenly walked away from it. That was JUST BECAUSE IT WAS NOW BEING PROMOTED BY OBAMA... THE SOCIALIST!
So the terms "socialist", "communist", "Muslim", "Not born in America", etc are just labels that the Repugs have given to Obama though they have no basis in fact. But they are ideas or terms that the ignorant and gullible base of the right wing find scary, being the racists and bigots that most of them are. So those terms are easily used and employed by the Repug leadership as part of their normal fear-mongering.... which is how they keep their base scared and in line.
@Louis David
You are absolutely right.... and this country is now under the threat of tyranny from the right wingnuts more than almost any other time in history, at least that I can remember.
The policies that the current rightwing controlled GOP are getting uncomfortably close in extremism as the rightwing extremists in the Muslim world that we call the Taliban... or the rightwing extremists from past history known as the Nazi party.
What the people in this country needs to do is to point out that extremism and fight against before it reaches the point that it has with the Taliban or that it did with the Nazi party. Because there are many points on the current Repug platform are scary, especially to women.
The Repugs goal is quite clearly to take away many of the rights and freedoms that women have achieved over decades, and even centuries. It is unclear to me why any woman would vote for a Repug, considering what their policies and platform are.... unless those women are just completely cowed by the lies they've been told.
Scully
Disregarding your talking point rants you did say something very untrue
Most of us were proud that in our lifetime a black man was able to be elected. In my opinion another black man could have eaisly beaten both candidates and the would be General Colin Powell who most of us were dissapointed refused to accept the darft that he was offered. Once we saw Obama's agenda that is were he lost support.
Regarding Hilary nobody on the right is unhappy with business during Slick Willies tenure. I prospered and did so under Bush also until my heart kicked me in the ass. I and many on my side felt that she would have operated they way he did . I believe he could be elected again today by a majority on both sides. Obama has a different approach to business than Clinton #1. I believe regardless of who wins she will resign and begin working on a 2016 run. If so she will be impossible to beat. How Obama got past here in 08 is still a mystery to me.
"Nazi party."
DS, i agree with ever thing, but i myself believe its more like a Fascist party.
Not in an election year, no they cannot.
Not in ANY year! They haven't wanted good news for three and a half years. They are so afraid they're never going to get back in the White House, but everything they do and say just drives them further from their goal!
D-Scully--Now that was a very good explanation. LOL. LOL
Poll: Are Republicans capable of embracing good news for Americans?
NO....!
O-Mitt Willard Romney...
That would be a great Nic for some one on the vine
O-mitt Republicans.
@MJB
You are so right.... everything the Repugs do and say do keep them farther from their goal.
1. Obstructing all progress in Congress to prevent economic recovery
2. Filibustering any bills in Senate that would aid the citizens of the country
3. Nominating Mutt Robme, the very essence of the out-of-touch 1%er, as their nominee.
3 Strikes.... they are OUT!
Thanks Rachael. Glad you enjoyed it.
I really did--The President was just honing in on Mitt, trying not to attack--He'll be alright, I just know that he was in a state of shock, when Mitt flipped, and flopped all over the stage. The Potus will be ready next time.
and Mitts bar will be set much higher then it was set in the first one. the question be we he lie and change again?
good part is before that next debate is the VP debate and now Ryan will have to defend their sudden move to wanting to help the middle class.
oh the bar should be set very high for Paul.
@Rachael
Absolutely! He really just wanted to spend a cozy evening with his love, Michelle. He's such a romantic. ;}
#2.8 @Pilot: Biden, is going to mop the floor with Ryan!
@honeysugarbabe
Let's hope so... but Joe Biden is an honest man like President Obama. I wonder what shenanigans Lyin Ryan is planning. Most likely denying everything he has ever said about Vouchercare.
@DScully,
you are correct. ryan will follow romney's lead.
What ridiculous excuse will you be making for him on Thursday?
Clay
If you weren't one of those @!$%#s on the right like the song goes, with no sense of humor, you would have recognized my comment as a JOKE shared with my friend Rachael. Not a serious explanation nitwit, and the others in here realized that.
Why don't you trot off to the Fox blog where there are the hateful and bigoted comments you understand better. You are in over your head here.
HELL NO!!!!!!!!!! they are incapable of embracing anything.
Billie they (republicans) are capable of lying and believing the lies....
well when you have to bozos running the republican side of things nothing will get passed i'm talking about cantour and baitner, and plus no republicans don't want the truth because the truth will hurt them

Scully~ Cute video! I was hoping he'd roll all over the floor! LOL
@3 They are capable of embracing hatred and division--that is their motto.
MJB
Are you talking about the kitty in the ball? He is cute and very interested in his tail.
Did anyone see the video of Romney cheating at the debates? When he walked to the podium he slipped a cheat sheet out of his pocket and when the debate was over he folded it and slipped it in his left sleeve.
Oh yeah! I guess I should have specified WHICH video! He was a cutie! Mine did weird things at that age too. She still does sometimes. Most of the time she's just a diva! LOL
Louis David~ That was a handkerchief. It looked like index cards, but it was a hankie. He even picked it up and used it to blot his face. I'd like to say it was for the flop sweat, but I can't! :)
Notes on a hankie? Who stuffs a hankie up their sleeve?
@Louis David and MJB
I did see that video of him taking something from his pocket as he walked to the podium, and of him blotting his face with a hankie... but I didn't see one of him sticking something up his sleeve at the end. I must have missed that one.
Could it be that there was a crib sheet hidden inside the hankie maybe? I wouldn't put it past Mutt. Just can't trust him, irregardless of what Queen Ann says.
It is on the web page We support liberals trapped in red states web page. Sorry they won't let me post links on here because I sometimes post 3rd party views.
Well some people just look at facts and reality. Just like on sept 11 I told everybody on this site that it was a terroist attack. You guys asked me where my proof was? You said Obama said it was a mob from a you tube video. Anybody with 2 eyes and an ass hole could see it was terroist attack. Now look at the facts the real unemplyoment rate stayed the same last month. Ok the average family is making 5000 less than when Obama came in. Lets ask this question did the amount of people on food stamps go down last month? If not then that means the jobs created were low paying and most likely part time seasonal work. Some people are very naive and thats just the way it is.
Rolla: On Sept 11 2012 did you say the Libya attack was a terrorist attack or did you say all the attacks in the 35 nations where the attacks took place were terrorist attacks?
Because only Libya was.
The rest were inspired by the film. So in my book you were 1 for 35. That a losing record. As usual you're a loser.
well it was a attack that had luck of the protest to hide its total intent until to late.
as all the other protest in the world was just the usual burning flags painting walls broken windows shouting down to america etc .
Unemployment dropping, economy improving? GOP, Romney/Ryan inventing some scandal/conspiracy about President O in 3..2..1..
Fox News has already said that the new job numbers are a MASSIVE Democratic conspiracy. It happened as soon as the 7.8% figure came out.
DAVID H. - By anychance,are you talking about FUX NEWS ? That's the way I see it.
However the real unemplyomrnt rate stayed the same. I never have understood not counting people that wasnt working.
Not right now, no.
It isn't in their DNA Ed to be happy for those 47% of us who got some jobs.
Lee, True. Their entire focus, from the night of the inauguration, has been to destroy Obama. To them any good economic news is BAD news for their agenda. They don't care that it means more people are working. To them, a great depression would be good news.
Obama is going to win, and they know it. The are seeing now that they can't buy or steal the election. Their lies and deviousness have caught up with them.
India you seem to foget Obama was the one who said it was his way or the highway. However you were one the guys telling me I didnt have proof that it was a terroist attack and that Obama said it was a mob. I wonder if you have enough dignity to apoligise to me because I was right and you were wrong.
And nobody on the right has ever apologized for anything. Why should we apologize to you. And it was not Obama that said "my way or the highway". It John (crybaby) Boehner.
When has Rolla ever been right about anything? Did he admit his IQ was below 45?
HR has a strange kind of mental dyslexia. Everyone knows Obama did not say that, and does not think like that. People like Bush, Boehner. Cheney, Ryan and Cantor think like that.
HR just enjoys contradicting me.
What kind of liberal arrogance does it take to presume to know how a person thinks one way or the other?
India I told you it was a terriost attack and you told told me the same thing your saying now that I was wrong. The White House has finaly admitted that I was right and it was a terriost attack. You guys are just going to have to admitt it I was right on that one.
HR - you are right on that one to be sure.
There's a lot of denial when it comes to the left's culpability here on anything, as I'm sure you're aware.
HR, #6.7
First,I never said you were wrong about that! I know it was a terrorist attack. What are you talking about?
Then your echo agrees! I never said that! I said the very next day it was a terrorist attack.
My comment was that Obama does not say things like, "It's my way or the highway!" That's Bush-speak.
Obama doesn't need to say it.
Every time you liberals whine about obstructionism and that Congress needs to "work with Obama" you are essentially saying they need to step out of the way and let him do whatever he wants to do.
That's the definition of a "my way or the highway" attitude.
TEA Partiers don't care about the Truth.
They simply want to see Obama fall.
Don't care about his birthplace or his youth;
They hate the fact that he exists at all.
They think the poor are filthy, lazy blighters
Who don't deserve to live upon the dole,
And unions - teachers, cops and firefighters -
Have picking rich men's pockets as their goal.
Their propaganda machine, known as FOX,
Thrives on the fuel of lies and innuendo.
They'd love to open up Pandora's Box,
And watch the world collapse in cruel crescendo.
The Golden Rule they live by is for fools.
"Whoever has the Gold, he makes the Rules."
The wealthy do not think the middle class
Deserve the simple privilege of a bill.
They want to hold them down en masse
So they can serve the puppet master's will.
Republicans must sign the Norquist pledge
To forestall any raise in revenues.
They'd want to lead the country to the edge
Of Depression-era depths so we would lose.
They do not know their leaders would abandon
Them, once they start to reason for themselves.
The puppeteer won't keep the puppet dancin'
With its own mind; he'd just put it on the shelves.
A pity that Republicans must choose
'Tween Romney and the seven Dwarves, who'll lose...
The unions give the working people voice
When those who'd keep them silent, keep them down,
Have the money, have the power, have the choice
To give the governors means to push them around.
With Super-pacs to hide how much they're giving,
They have no reins to keep their wealth at bay.
They have the means to keep us all from living
With government that listens to what we say.
We have to battle back with those who'd fight
Those men who want to rule with iron fist.
They'd buy our government and steal our right
To choose our future, to struggle, to resist.
If we don't fight to keep the right to choose,
Then wealthy men will determine who will lose.
Republicans have never loved our nation;
They've loved what they can help to steal away
For any donor, any lobbyist, any corporation
Who want to line their pockets, come what may.
To love America, they'd have to love it's people,
Yet they refuse to give them any aid.
They worship at the altar of Norquist's evil,
Declaring only slashing can be made.
To stop Obama, they would kill our country,
McConnell, Boehner, Cantor, Ryan and more,
They'd sell our nation out to all and sundry,
To rob the people to help finance their war.
Though we may stop them, it may be too late;
It's hard to stop the juggernaut of hate.
Republicans will pay a heavy price
For failing to fulfill the People's need.
They think their wealthy backers will suffice
To get them reelected, so why pay heed?
But backers don't buy votes, they make up lies,
While those with pockets picked will know what's true.
You don't retain a thief for further tries,
You fire him, so your wallet stays with you.
These bandits think we won't care how they're hiding
Their projects buried deep within their bill,
But we can see what menace is overriding,
Won't allow the world to weaken to their will.
Even President Bush told truth back then,
"Fool me once, shame on you, won't get fooled again!"
You have to believe in your President,
Believe he has your best interests at heart,
Believe he's aware where the economy went,
Believe he would give you a good start.
Barack makes you feel he can give you hope,
He can help to better your station in life.
He would offer a drowning man a rope,
He would rid the world of fear and strife.
Mitt Romney puts forth a false face as friend,
Yet you feel if you'd turn, he'd plunge the knife,
He does not care for the people he'd 'defend',
Only the rich and church where he yields his tithe.
Mitt's a liar, thief, scoundrel, bottomfeeder...
He hasn't the Hope to be our nation's Leader.
David you are on a roll tonight! Keep going on, and, on, and on. The Truth will always over ride a "LIE. (ROMNEY)& (THE REPUBS): ROCK ON! :)
DAVID M. JOHNSTON - They just don't seem to realize that if it weren't for the middle class,they wouldn't be where they are at since it's the middle class that does all the GRUNT WORK for them to have all their money they have. If the whole middle class was to walk off the job,they would eventually go FLAT BROKE since they're too lazy to do anything besides getting blitzed.
They can not HANDLE the TRUTH !!!!!!!!!!!!
David, I agree 100% with you on every point except one. The point I disagree is that Republicans NEVER loved our nation. The Republicans of my youth did love this nation and did great things for this country. Don't forget that it was a Republican president that was behind connecting this nation with the freeway system that makes it easier for Americans to connect with each other. It was also a Republican who helped dig us out of the great depression. The correct statement should be that TODAY republicans DO NOT love this nation. They are greedy, selfish politicians who care NOTHING about the people who voted them into office mistakenly think that their republican representative was going to make it their goal to get us out of this mess. Wrong, their goal was to sabotage any plan to grow the economy and blocked every bill that would increase getting jobs.
David J
Wonderful, fantastic... and all of them so true. You are on a roll, and all I did was reword the lyrics of a song.
@Valerie
Unfortunately... the GOP don't make them like Abe Lincoln, Teddy R. and Ike anymore.
Dscully,
Boy, you got that right. My folks were Eisenhower Republicans. It was a whole other world. They would not believe what has happened to the GOP. It has been captured by the worst, most extreme, hateful element I have ever seen: The T-party.
Get them out!
DS...
These particular sonnets may look familiar... None of them were actually written TODAY, but all of them were written by me over the last year... When I saw today's poll topic, the first thought I had was, "I've written about this BEFORE!"... So, I picked out past sonnets that seemed to fit... Sort of explains the line about "Romney and the Seven Dwarves"... I wrote that back before the Iowa primary, when Huntsman and Cain were still in the race...
I LOVED what you did with "Stuck in the Middle with You"... Among the circles I used to hang with, that's referred to as Filking, the adaptation of popular or folk music with rewritten lyrics with a attempt to parodize current events or sci-fi/fantasy themes... I've written a few myself, like "The Force is the Force" based on the theme to "Mr. Ed", "Vader" based on Lorne Greene's "Rango", and "Buffy Shotgun" sung from the point of view of Spike, to the tune of "White Wedding"...
One of the top Filkers of the last 30 years is Tom Smith, whose songs I've often referred to... Tom Lehrer, Allan Sherman and "Weird Al" Yankovic also come to mind as famous examples...
If "Weird Al" can turn "MacArthur Park" into "Jurassic Park", you can do "Stuck in the Middle with Mitt"...
@India
It was a different world and GOP with Ike, but started going bad after that. Did they continue to vote GOP after Ike.... like Tricky Dick Nixon, Supply side Ronnie, etc.?
DScully,
No, both of them passed away young. I know they'd have disliked Reagan.
Not as sure about Nixon. Just don't recall what they felt about him.
DS, India...
You know who is to blame for that, don't you? "Tricky Dick" Nixon... When the Dixiecrats rebelled against LBJ and the Democratic party for embracing Civil Rights, he bade them welcome with his "Southern Strategy", incorporating the most intransigent and ignoble elements of the Ku Klux Klan, the John Birch Society and Radical Evangelists into the GOP... He turned the GOP into glop...
David J
Ahhh.. I wondered what the Mitt and the 7 Dwarves reference was about exactly. That explains it.
Wow.... I didn't know there was an actual name for rewriting lyrics of songs. That's interesting. Don't think I've heard of the others, but have definitely enjoyed Weird Al's work. *sings* Like a sturgeon, caught for the very first time.... is that how it goes?
Before Stuck in the middle with Mitt, I've only re-lyriced or filked 2 other songs....
The first was to the tune of "It's my party"
It's Mitt's party and he'll LIE if he wants to
Lie if he wants to, Lie if he wants to
He thinks lies will get a vote from you
Mitt doesn't know where the GOP's gone,
It's like they've all lost their minds!
Could it be just a coincidence then,
Tea party showed at the same time?
It's the GOP's party and they'll LIE if they want to
Lie if they want to, Lie if they want to
They think lies will get a vote from you
Then I filked the Human League song... "Don't you want me?" into...
Don't Vote for Robme
You were workin' for a wage in a factory,
when I met you
Bain bought it out, shook it up and threw you out,
and sent it out to China... boo hoo
Now five years later you're still jobless and beat,
finding work is not so easy for you
But don't forget, it's Bain who put you where you are now,
and Mitt will keep you back down too
Don't, don't vote for Robme?
You know I can't believe it,
when I hear that you might do it
Don't, don't vote for Robme?
You know I don't believe you,
when you say that you might do it
It's much too late to find
That you have lost your mind
You'd better change it back or we will both be sorry
Don't you vote for Robme?
Don't vote for him, ohh?
Don't you vote for Robme?
Don't vote for him, ohh?
India
Oh... I see. So do you think they might have voted for JFK, or would they not have crossed party lines and voted Dem?
David
Why am I not surprised that Nixon was behind that. According to Michael Moore's film Sicko... he was also in collusion with the private insurance industry to foist HMOs on the population. Thus lowering the standard of medical care in exchange for increasing profits, while making it sound like he was concerned Americans get the best medical care possible. The beginning of the lying greedy Republican.
DS...
"Weird Al's" parody of Madonna's "Like a Virgin" was "Like a Surgeon"
"I can hear your heartbeat... for the very last time..."
Allan Sherman and Tom Lehrer were probably before your time...
Allan Sherman did about a half-dozen albums, but was rarely on TV... His biggest hit won a Grammy for Novelty Song, 1963... "Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah", which is set to the tune of Amilcare Ponchielli's "Dance of the Hours"... He mostly used music from popular songs, along with that of Gilbert & Sullivan operettas...
Tom Lehrer was featured on a show, "That Was The Week That Was", so most of his performances were captured on black & white... Some of my favorites are "So Long, Mom" and "The Vatican Rag"...
Good stuff... They don't make many like that any more...
David, I just recently read about that in a book on Lyndon Johnson. I got it from the library and can't for the life of me recall the title. It went into grueling detail about how difficult it was to pass the Civil Rights Act. I read so much. I think it was something like The Passage of Power?
I am currently reading IT'S EVEN WORSE THAN IT LOOKS, by Thomas Mann.
It is.
We owe it to Nixon for turning the GOP into pond scum. Figures. (He really was a crook after all!)
Lyndon Johnson- The Passage To Power
You don't know how hard it was NOT to insert the 't' while I was typing that...
LOL. You must read Mann's book, David. Problem is, it is terribly, terribly upsetting and depressing and I am about to take to drink and I am only one-quarter of the way through it. OMG It is so much worse than I thought, and I am a pessimist by nature.
We owe a great deal to the black heart of Newt Gingrich for our present mess. He was one of the main causal factors of the present gridlock and obstruction from the right. Talk about the heart of darkness..........he surely studied THE PRINCE .
Newt used all the Machiavellian ideas ever written and then came up with some of his own. He's the one with a brain who really is dangerous. He is one scary man.
That big head of his is full of dark matter.
@David J
Oh... I remember the song, Hello Mudda, Hello Fadda... from my childhood, but I didn't know it was a parody of another song. I even remember watching the guy who sang it on TV appearances... like Ed Sullivan show,etc. I don't think I recall the other songs you mentioned, but maybe if I heard them.... they would sound familiar.
@India
Absolutely... Newt the Gingrinch is indeed, THE ANTI-CHRIST. But Dick "Darth" Cheney is still THE PRINCE OF DARKNESS, whose corrupt innards continues to rot one heart after another. Literally... no heart can continue to beat in the evil body of this man for very long, which is why he's needed so many heart transplants.
"He's more machine now than man; twisted and evil." Obi-Wan Kenobi
I don't think so....beating Obama seems to be their only focus, despite positive news....how sad for all of us.
Beating Obama IS their only focus and has been since he won in 2008.
@Chris
But Chris they claim to really, really care about this country... Yet only 53% of it.
Oh and by the way I do not recall reading in the Constitution of this country that was written by the founding fathers that its an absolute right to screw 47% of this country by paying them a minimal wage forcing them to apply for food stamps and medicare then have nothing but distain for them yet keep all the profits for themselves without paying taxes.
Its supposed to be a privilege to do business in this country and you're supposed to pay taxes for that privilege...
Only good news they are interested in, is for the 0.01%
The GOP is only for haters and the greedy. Nothing more, nothing less.
The only good news they can muster is for the republicans only.Anyone else,FORGET IT !!!!! They don't know what GOOD NEWS is even if it BIT them in the A$$.
@Chuck, L.v. Smith & Ted
But remember.... only Repugs/TEApugs are true Americans. Of course they have a right to hate everyone else.
Time for a song.... the smooth sounds of...
Blacks And Whites, Latins
http://soundcloud.com/mike-in-raleigh/blacks-and-whites-latins
They care more about Obama failing than this country succeeding.
...http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/culture/2012/10/cover-story-the-first-presidential-debate.html
Republicans are capable of no decency.
That's the ONLY thing they're capable of!
MJB, I don't know.....they lie really well! They're quite capable liars!
No decency is a BIG umbrella! Ha!
I know it seems like I'm sticking up for Republicans tonight, and maybe I am, but it's not Republican voters, it's Republican POLITICIANS, who are selling us down the river and only looking out for their rich buddies. That's why we have to take back the House and keep control of the senate so that we can STOP citizens united and stop putting elections on the auction block and sold to the highest bidder. The Republican party has become very sick. They have been diagnosed with cancer and the cause of that cancer is the Tea Party. This cancer needs to be eradicated and we are the doctors who can do it. We have the cure, our vote. I'm from Minnesota, and it's sad to say that Michelle Bachman's race to keep her seat in Congress is still very close. After all her ridiculous rantings and insane behavior, she could still keep her seat. This is the first time in my life that I have donated money to politicians who do not represent me. Now, this tells me a couple of things, either something in the drinking water or in the air is poisoning the people in her district and causing them to become as unbalanced as she is, or, there are still a lot of Republicans of my generation who are still in denial that their old party no longer exists. Also, redistricting may have helped her too. Okay, I'm done pointing out the obvious for now.
PS This is the first time in my life that I have donated money to politicians who don't even represent me, like Bachman's opponent. I have even donated to politicians in other states where Democrats are running against Tea Party candidates and the race is very close. I'll be glad when this election is over and my husband and I can afford to go out to eat at Buger King again.
Good for you Valerie. I do the same. And make my donation in name of Rush Limbaugh.
Now that will piss Rush off and he may go after you as a nasty no nothing traitor who needs to be tarred and feathered while putting it on the internet for the world to see and get all excited about. Be careful your privacy is about to be invaded by The Limbaughman. He is big and full of drugs enraged at your audicity to fund anything that he is against so radically. Here he comes out of the shadows of his drug induced cavern. We on the left have our own radicals but nothing and I mean nothing to compare to the two ton pounds of seething bitter flesh that seems to lead the GOP. That in itself amazes me that he should be placed at the head of the GOP table to serve the masses his dribble.
LOL..Now that would just make my year...
Not if it helps Obama or makes him look good in any way.
I just made a comment on FB about this..When it is something positive for the country as a whole,it's a conspiracy,when it is negative,the republicans smack their lips and rub their hands in giddyness and blame Obama.They will never give Obama credit,but I do.We should be happy for America.
Bad news, good. Good news, bad. Grouchy Ol' Poops betting on American failure. Pathetic.
No, not now and not in the future. They have become so defiant and they want nothing positive said a bout this current administration. With them, It' not about what's good for our country, it's about using their words deceitfully so most people will not comprehend what they are saying in order for them to be elected. People think he will come up with some other system like social security and healthcare. The people need to listen carefully to what is not said to them.
No Republicans could care less about Americans and the fact is they don't give a dam they hate about the good news on todays jobs report
No, the repukes will only rejoice in things that benefit their self-interest. The announcement of the drop in the unemployment rate is not in their best interest, so they are crying the blues today.
ARLENE - NO,they're screaming FOOOUUULLLL !!!!!!! Well the foul is against them and they can't handle it.
