Close, but it's much worse than that. With the callous disregard that Romney shows the 47% of the Americans he refers to as "Victims who feel Entitled" - Romney has a Silver Foot that goes up his behind so far that it comes out of his mouth!

Granted there are some shysters, who will do everything they can to game the system, that don't legally qualify for the taxpayer funded benefits they are getting - where the taxpayers are being victimized, while the shysters feel entitled. Nevertheless, there's only one difference between these Shyster and Romney - Romney manages to cheat the system as much as he can legally get away with, whereas the Shysters cheat the system as much as they can get away with while fooling the system into not being aware that they are doing so illegally.

On the other hand, of the 47% that Romney refers to, the Entitled Victims, to paraphrase Romney, I can confidently say that none of them want to be in their current condition. I certainly don't enjoy the circumstances I find myself in, with such severe osteoarthritis in my hips that my artificial left hip had to be removed back in Jan. '09, and my right hip will eventually have to be removed too. The Institutional Medicaid I'm getting pays for my stay at a Nursing/Rehab facility and most, but not all, of the meds I need to alleviate pain. Food is covered, but I'm not eligible for any Food Stamp coverage, so the condiments I'm accustomed to to make the food palatable, such as garlic powder, hot sauce, and horseradish, barring donations, I have to do without.

When I first applied for SSI, I was automatically declined by SSA, because their database flagged me for having deferred compensation (401(k), IRA) over $2000 - but it neglected to unflag me when I went below that limit, which I had been below when I initially applied. I had to track down every company I had ever had a 401(k) or IRA with, necessitating some detective work on my part to track down name changes, buyouts, or mergers, and prove to SSA's satisfaction that I was below the $2000 limit.

While I may feel somewhat victimized for having to live with pain that I wouldn't have to if I had the cash on hand to pay for OTC pain control meds, which I think General Assistance should cover. And I also feel that I should qualify for enough in Food Stamps to cover the condiments that the Dining Hall/Kitchen doesn't provide, that still doesn't make me feel like a victim - just deprived from enjoying life as well as I could reasonably expect, given my current circumstances.

Moreover, I'd gladly trade my living arrangements for something more independent, where I'd be able to cook for myself, to have a job in return for a paycheck. However, being almost 54, and having been unemployed for 3½+ years, in the current labor market, I'd most likely be rejected for being overqualified, or being unqualified for being unemployed too long.

For Romney to so casually disregard the 47%, including me, with such disdain, and such certainty that that we feel like we are Entitled Victims who feel beholden to Obama - that aggravates me to such an extent that I can't currently find the words.

While I may have transitioned from being a devout Catholic, through an agnostic hunt for spiritual satisfaction, to an absolute atheist - that transition was over systemic disagreements with Catholic dogma and metaphysics, not with the ethical core behind the 10 Commandments. (Although I essentially remain pro-life, that doesn't entail me being anti-choice. Rather, I firmly believe that abortion has to be an option, but not a casual option. Unfortunately, mankind has yet to discover how to transplant a zygote/fetus from a pregnant woman who doesn't want to go through to childbirth to another woman who would want to have a child that felt more like her own than an adopted child. I see too many reasons why it may never be possible. But, who knows!)

For a practicing Catholic, Sr. Simone (Nuns on the Bus) comes across as much more genuine than Paul Ryan, who has, given his proposed budgets, accepted far too much of Ayn Rand's Objectivism, in lieu of the Beatific Catholic Social Teachings to remain a genuine Catholic. Like Romney, instead of asking himself "What would Jesus do?" - he asks "What would the Pharisees do?" - and opts for the uncompassionate choice. Apparently, Romney never learned from Sr. Theresa, why she didn't try to teach those she helped to fish - rather than providing the fish - because those people were so poor they'd have died first, if left to catch their own fish. Were Ryan aware of that distinction, he might have the ability to fight of the Objectivist infection that leads him to his inclination to privatize Social Security and Medicare.

In closing, were I wealthy like Romney or Buffet, I'd have the philanthropic impulse that Buffet has. I wouldn't concern myself with paying CPAs to "cheat my way" out of paying Income Taxes, that would simply be more money that I could donate and not worry about tax deductions. As such, there would be no possible way that I could possibly consider voting for Romney - unless he were in a contest to be considered an Economically Unpatriotic Greedy Bastard! - At least, that would be a contest that Obama would be unqualified for!

Dear Selma City Council,

I am writing to strongly urge you to stop the current plans to expand a monument celebrating Nathan Bedford Forrest.

People know Selma, Alabama as the city where Dr. King fought for civil rights. Selma was the launching point for historical protests that hurtled the civil rights movement into the national spotlight. It is also a city of tragedy: thousands of students, religious leaders, and families fighting for civil rights in Selma were arrested, injured, or brutally killed.

It was shocking to learn that Selma would ever choose to celebrate the legacy of a Ku Klux Klan founder and Grand Wizard by allowing a monument to Nathan Bedford Forrest to stand on city property. For the council to allow this monument to be expanded would simply be beyond the pale.

If Selma wants be viewed by the rest of the country as forward-thinking, we cannot give in to those who pine for the "good ole days" of the 1860s. The Selma city council has no business allowing the the city's history and the memory of those who fought for civil rights to be smeared in this way. I demand that you stop the expansion of the Nathan Bedford Forrest monument and remove it from public property.

Did you know that a 50 foot statue of Albert Pike, co-founder of the KKK, is prominently displayed in DC? Pretty sickening if you ask me.

If Penn State can find the wisdom in taking down the statue of Paterno, why can't the governments of Selma and the USA take down these vile reminders of racism? People don't often mention this, but had the Republican governors not starved the states (deliberately) there would have been way fewer jobs lost and the unemployment would be around 6.5%. Billie, just a caution - Remember the election in 2000. The court disenfranchised 35,000 voters in Florida by not allowing their votes to be "officially" counted, thereby giving GW Bush his first term in office. Those votes were unofficially counted and the vote was 4 to 1 in favor of Al Gore(remember him?). The county was a pro-democratic county. I've been told many times that I am wrong, but given what we see going on today I would say I am not wrong.

Yes, again this is a very important comment. Republican governors knowing that during the economic crisis it would be easy to make the claim for 'cuts', cut dramatically state spending leading to millions of people in this country without a job. All of this has been set up from the beginning of Obama's presidency to use the local governments as a tool too to get everything blamed on the president.

The recovery act, which could have brought jobs to states, but the Republican states denied for the most part the money. Yes, it was for political reasons not because of policy. Some of the states that have the highest unemployment rates are red states.

People who believe in the Republican platform need to realize that these are the people that do not care about the average person. They would rather throw all of us under the bus to gain political power to pass more tax cuts and loosen regulations to the point that businesses can do what they want to us. Republican policies are those that only crystallizes the social class structure so that it is impossible to have upward mobility. What do you think a voucher does? Only allows those people who have money to succeed. How would a poor person take advantage of a voucher when there is increase costs whether you are talking about education or healthcare coupled with inflation and stagnant wages? Only those with money can take advantage. What is even more sad is that everybody else who can afford to take advantage of these opportunities are paying for those who can.

Obama has created $5.4 trillion dollars of additional debt in less than 4 years.

Americans are now paying $1.7 trillion dollars a year in regulatory cost under Obama so really a bigger chunk of the GDP is going to the government since that is about 11% plus the 25% is equal to 36% of working peoples production is going to the government.

January 1, 2113 we have massive tax increases and not just for the rich.

We’re continuing massive home foreclosures.

Median family income for the middle class down by 5% as cost go up.

The so-called recession has been over for 56 months.

The Democratic platform proposes another $675 billion dollars in more direct government spending including a new $400 plus in a new stimulus bill.

This is national suicide if he is allowed to continue.

Unemployment rate is down from 8.3% to 8.1%. Sounds better? It could be if it weren’t for the reason it has gone down. It has gone down because more people have been taken out of the work force. Less and less people working.

96 thousand jobs created or 2k per state last month.

368 thousand people dropped out of the work force.

Tens of thousands of jobs have been lost because people have dropped out of the work force and they go on food stamps, disability and other welfare programs.

Obama is expanding the welfare state just what he set out to do.

Some people say Obama is a failure, but I say he is a success in what he set out to do. He’s expanding the government and welfare state and destroying the private sector. Almost 89 million people who are capable of working which are adults are not in the labor force. That’s the lowest in 31 years and if you just count men it’s the lowest since records have been kept.

If you continue to smother the private sector this is what you get. It’s not what he inherited, it’s what he is doing as President of the United States.

Where has all this deficit spending gotten us?

The one sector of the economy that has not suffered is the government workers unemployment rate is the only one that is looking pretty good at 5.1%.

Obama tried to compare himself to Franklin Roosevelt, but he is Herbert Hoover, a big government Republican who expanded on by Franklin Roosevelt.

Is the problem what Obama inherited or is the problem what Obama is doing about it?

I don’t care who you are, this is going to effect everyone and it is being done by Executive Order. They didn’t discuss this at the DNC. This isn’t about clean air and clean water. This is about destroying liberty and our way of life. This is about making an excuse about Soviet style government planning.

No, she doesn't pay income tax because her income is so low but she pays school taxes, town taxes and county taxes. Mitt Romney paid 13.9% income tax in 2010 but I would like to see how much income tax he paid in 2009, 2008, 2007,2006,2005,2004,2003,2002 etc. I bet zero but we will never know because he refuses to release them.
