NBC's Brian Williams interviews former President Bill Clinton as he prepares to give a speech at the Democratic National Convention Wednesday.
Former President Bill Clinton will speak tonight at the Democratic National Convention in support of President Barack Obama.
But what does he think of Obama personally?
Clinton was asked about his relationship with the current president today during an interview with NBC's Brian Williams. Bromance or transaction?
"It's quite good, actually," Clinton said of their relationship. "It's candid, it's open. We haven't been close friends a long time or anything like that, but he knows that I support him."
Clinton also seemed to appreciate the way Obama has interacted with his wife, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
"I'm very grateful also just as a person for the way he and Hillary have interacted," Clinton said. "He's treated her with enormous respect, he's respected her opinion. He’s run a national security operation that’s been really good for this country, I think. So I think, you know, I would say our relationship is good."
Clinton continued: "It is, from my point of view, not a transaction or a bromance or any of that sort of stuff. There's a few people who have been presidents. He's the first Democrat to serve since I left office. He's had a very tough hand to play. I think he's made a good job of a bad situation. People don't feel it yet, but they're going to benefit from it if they stay with him. And I believe that."
"So I think a lot of the story back-news things, it’s just talk. I like him, I have a lot of respect for him, and I talk to him when I need to. But mostly, I wait until he talks-- wants to talk to me, because I believe I should respect the fact that you have one president at a time and he's got a lot more things to do than chew the fat with me."

Smiling thats why you are one of the best.
Big Dog come though again and the others side looks like the fools they are.
Really because the Republicans know Bill's secret feelings about Obama more than apparently Clinton himself does........
Yea Bill called him an amateur.
392, if that's true, Clinton gave a heck of an apology tonight.
Amazing ..... Just watched Clinton's speech.. OMG slam-dunk. He hit it all. Makes the Republicans look like unprepared, spoiled, hateful, children. I hope the press give him his do. Wow! and he told it like it is. For real. Loved it. The audience was so connected. We out here watching on TV were connected.
I've missed Bill's speeches. He's sooo good at it. I don't think he left any stone unturned tonight. He pretty well unmasked Rmoney/Ryan and the Repubs for the liars they are! I hope there were some rank-and-file Repubs watching tonight. It will probably be the first time they've heard the truth all year. I just hope they can recognize it when they hear it!
WE---got Bill Clinton<<<<>>>>> Who--got George Bush???????
Welcome All Trolls
They would be hiding about now ...... Or running to their think tanks for canned talking point answers.
i think they are ALL gone back to Fox Noise school<<<<<>>>>>
Obama has been NOMINATED now lets get our family and frinds to VOTE------ its our duty
No way this speech of Clinton's fooled anyone. He never liked Obama, called him unqualified, and did his best to distance himself from Obama in the last election. The only reason Clinton is pitching in at all is to keep his name out there, so Hilary or Chelsea can run for office again some day.
He has no love for Obama, no belief in Obama...go back and read the quotes from 2008.
No HOPE FOR YOU.....too bad.
You can't 'fool' ppl with the truth dumbass. Getting nervous about the election? You should.
so what problem--------MR me me too
All repulican lies distilled by Bill.......ROTFFL....LOL.
Wow. ... Thought the speeches couldn't get any better, but those tonight were amazing from John Kerry to Joe Biden...by contrast the Republican's were so hollow.... Maybe that's because the only thing they could possibly talk about, they can't mention as it's such a bad deal for the American people. Gotta watch now Obama is about to speak.....
President Obama gave a great speech. He didn't dodge issues as Romney did. He showed our heathy American philosophy where as Romney, Ryan and the Republicans seem to be leaning towards an Ayn Rand philosophy.... (individualism taken to the extreme, selfishness is moral, and greed is good), a me, myself and I attitude..... where a person doesn't worry about anyone else except themselves. If you are not rich... Somehow you didn't deserve to be. They have no need or conscience to help another person, or America. They say all others are users, while may be they are the users. This is not the American way, heart, or what we are admired for. We aspire to more then that. We care about others. We care about America. We can be the best person each of us can be in all our endeavors and still help another. We aspire to lift one another to the top, because we believe we can. We find it rewarding to do so. The Republican platform seemed so selfish, small minded, limiting and lethal for some.
