Daily Kos put together this excellent video comparing Ryan's lies with the actual chronology of the GM's closure of the Janesville Assembly plant. Keep in mind President Obama did not take office until Jan. 20, 2009.
Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan LIED and LIED and LIED yesterday when he said that President Barack Obama "broke his promise" by failing to keep a General Motors plant in his hometown of Janesville, Wisconsin, open.
During a campaign rally in North Canton, Ohio, Ryan recounted the decision to shutter the Janesville Assembly plant "in 2009" (lie #1) where "a lot of my high school buddies worked."
"I remember President Obama visiting it when he was first running, saying he'll keep that plant open," Ryan said in lie #2. "One more broken promise."
Then in lie #3, Ryan blamed Obama's "terrible" energy policies for the plant's closure.
"One of the reasons that plant got shut down was $4 gasoline. You see, this costs jobs. The president's terrible energy policies are costing us jobs."
In fact, the plant halted production in December 2008 when President George W. Bush, a Republican who was ranked as the fifth-worst president in U.S. history by Siena Research Institute of Siena College in 2010, was still in office (in fact, he'd been in office for nearly eight years by then).
Here's the chronology:
January 20, 2001: George W. Bush took the oath of office as the 43rd President of the United States. He is re-elected in 2004 to serve through Jan. 20, 2009.
February 2008: Sen. Barack Obama campaigns for president at the Janesville Assembly plant.
June 3, 2008: GM announces it will close the Janesville Assembly plant in 2010, citing high gas prices and a sluggish economy. U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan writes a letter urging GM to keep the plant open.
June 20, 2008: GM announces additional layoffs at the Janesville Assembly plant.
June 28, 2008: Gas prices peak at $4.12 per gallon in the U.S., a record that still stands.
September 15, 2008: Financial services firm Lehman Brothers files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, the largest bankruptcy filing in U.S. history.
October 23, 2008: GM announces it will move up the closure of the Janesville Assembly plant from 2010 to Dec. 23, 2008. Merry Christmas!
December 23, 2008: last SUV rolled off the line at the GM Janesville Assembly plant.
January 20, 2009: President George W. Bush leaves office after eight years. Barack Obama is sworn in as the 44th President of the United States.
August 16, 2012: GOP vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan makes a series of false statements about the Janesville Assembly plant closure.
Then-Sen. Obama did speak at the Janesville plant in February 2008. At the time, he suggested that a government partnership with automakers could keep the plant open, but made no promises to keep it open.
"I believe if our government is there to support you, and give you the assistance you need to re-tool and make this transition, that this plant will be here for another hundred years," Obama said, some eleven months before taking office.

Did he go home to his home town and tell a lie?
Yes, Thankfulful Mom, he sure did. Oh! My goodness!
Thankful Mom, I spelled your name incorrectly. Please accept my apology. Thank you very much.
I can not believe Ryan and Romney Lies and More lies. There peat and repeat and if people believe there lies its even worse. Both of them are a piece of work. The Republican Propaganda machine on steroids. Tell the lie long enough ,day after day and even they don't know the truth any more!
And Romney says he took a look at his taxes and decided he did nothing wrong.
Trust them.
So shameful... Like the people who actually lived through the closing wouldn't realize the date discrepancy.
Not only is the Republican Ticket filled with blatant liars, but they're also really Bad Liars!
All Ryan has done since being chosen is LIE! He lied in FL, too. He even used his mommy to lie, the little creep. I have seen many elections, but none that was entirely a lie from day one as the Romney/Ryan has been.
They lie about what they'll do and they lie about what Obama has done! The problem is, that while Romney LOOKS like he's lying, the hatchet man is a really good liar! I an see why they are believing him. He is lying to the very people who will be hurt by his plans to make the rich richer.
We were watching the baseball game from two o'clock on and it is still tied in the bottom of the 15th inning. I have no fingernails left! Pirates and Cardinals. GO BUCS! We had dinner and went back to it.
Those poor folks in the stands have been sitting for 4 hours and a half with no dinner.
Game tied again, 3-3 top of the 18th inning. A double header! 5 and a half hours, game started at 2, and it is now 7:40 PM' WOW. Almost 6 hrs.
Ryan goes all over telling this lie and now even Governor Walker is doing the same thing back in Wisconsin. This is the GOP way
I wonder if he'll blame it on his staff..
Paul Ryan Voted 'Biggest Brown-Noser In High School': Should Mitt Romney Watch His Behind?
http://www.ibtimes.com/articles/373085/20120813/biggest-brown-noser-paul-ryan-high-school.htm
Brad thats good one.
TM #2.1 Ryan looks like he'd be a big, creepy, brown noser in school. A big nerd that no one would date! His nose stuck in his sweetheart's book, Atlas Shrugged.
That'll turn those cheerleaders on! LOL Yeah, just mention Ayn Rand to a cheerleader! First, she wouldn't know who it was and second she'd notice
those ears.
Bottom of the 18th inning.......
I'd be afraid to have kids with him, his ears are so big and he looks like Eddie Munster! Plus, pathological lying may be an inherited trait! OMG
How did the GOP get TWO big lying weirdos?
YAHOO bottom of 19th 6-3 PIRATES!
Whew....I feel like I played in that darn game...........
Sorry to be so off subject but it's Sunday night...who's on...
Who's on first! Never mind.

TM Yes He did I live 22 miles from Janesville and I was there today to do some shopping. I physically saw 1 Ryan/Romney yard sign. And it was about 8.2 miles East of Town. I was on the SE side of Town and I saw no banners, sign's, nothing. Some Hometown Hero.
I haven't seen the movie boss......is it about romney and ryan?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7CUgdUFzPZ8&feature=fvwrel
Sarge GW, He may lie to the world but the home town has his number. I love it when there called out !
I can't stand a cheat or a liar. Is there anyone actually buying this republican hooey?
Tea bagged republicans and the dead.
Not a chance for Romney and Ryan..! Crooked pair of Republicans..!
Sure as heck not in Janesville
ED IS LYING - vehicle were made at the Janesville,WI plant thru JUNE 2009. Big Eddie cannot twist his way out of this one but will try.
Care to provide documentation that proves Ed is lying? Please provide your source. Thank you
Check out the local Janesville Gazette newspaper and you can read the articles that detail the announcement, the reduction in staff, and the eventual closing and the plant then being put on standby in case vehicle sales increased.
Took me all of 3 minutes to see that Ed was correct. The plant closure occurred during former President Bush's time in office (although a skeleton crew was in place after President Obama's inauguration to finish out a contract before the final closure took place).
What article are you speaking of?
The one that ends with the line "This year started with plans for layoffs, assembly line slowdowns, a special attrition program and other production cuts, the biggest of which takes place Tuesday when GM ends production in Janesville."
You mean this Gazette article dated Dec 22nd, 2008?
http://gazettextra.com/news/2008/dec/22/through-years-chronicling-history-gm-janesville/
That article?
http://www.jsonline.com/news/wisconsin/79145747.html
On Dec. 23, the last Tahoe rolled off the line at Janesville Assembly and an automotive era, a way of life, came to a close.
The plant was shut, a final act in a year, 2008, that saw 5,000 jobs at GM and other auto-related firms wiped out in Janesville
Gee how surprising a lying tea bagged republican lying on Ed's blog. Really funny how they believe they have any credibility to call anyone out that is an Ed show viewer.
He'll keep supporting them anyway. For reasons he can't specify any better than this.
It hard to prove to someone that has an ingrained contempt for the truth of the truth itself. The only thing that matters to this person(Obama is a failed President) is his opinion can't let a little thing like facts get in the way.He has a hate for the President period.set on and hatched by Rush Limbaugh and the Bloviating Blatherskites on Fox News.He only comes to this site to vent his inane comments, just like the one of the President had a super majority in congress for two years which is one of the biggest lie circulated through the Republican Stratosphere,Fact. The president was inaugurated Jan 20 2009 Congress Was in recess. Then the cabinet had to be confirmed Legislation began July 7th 2009-Feb-4-2010 Congress is in recess because they are trying to get re-elected,However we know that 87 new members came in after having heard the President's last Name Hussein a name as common in Kenya as Williams is in The British Isles. You peg him as Foriegn and the thing so incredible is that the first person to scream this was a naturalized citizen with a freaking accent, can't you hear all that Kenyan dialect in the President,No,then it must be something about him that make you hate so much.I not Playing a race card here, don't have too it be done, day D A M N ONE.Fact-He's had a Republican Congress far far longer,if you fools excepted facts you would realize that and the reason Nothing has gotten done is that Republican Congress that you elected you know the one with the 8% approval rating.
I live in Janesville. My husband worked at the Janesville plant. Eds dates are correct. It was not 2009. Stop drinking the kool aide.
Kathy Stadler-Aegerter I am sorry to hear that. Has he found employment yet?
Ed is not exactly lying he is leaving out the details.
Yes GM announced the closing during the Bush presidency. Ryan simply stated what Obama had said in a speech he gave at the plant. Then he stated another fact that the plant was closed within a year later. Are these two statements incorrect? From what I found I believe they are both true statements.
The plant actually had a crew finish up a Izusu Light Truck contract which ended in June of 2009.
R & R in WI 2012
You can tell he's drunk on the Kool-Aid. Did the Kool-Aid come fom his moonshine plant in Wisconsin?
I saw a saying and it is true - If President Obama was promoting Oxygen the Republicans would suffocate themselves.
Cunard from Ohio, Hello there Buckeye and welcome to the blog. I saw that to and the sad thing is its true. They would cut off there nose to spite there face. The behavior of the republican party has went to the dark side and the thought of them being in control again is the end of the middle class!
I hope Obama starts promoting oxygen.
Everybody e-mail the WH with that idea. heeheehee
I love how obama claims he saved GM. He leaves out all the dealerships that had to close down = jobs lost. A hole car division closed down Pontiac = jobs lost. And now all caddys are to be built in china=jobs lost. I dont see you calling him out on this
He also will never acknowledge the 20,000 non-union Delphi employees who lost their health benefits and pensions when Obama paid off the Unions using taxpayer money.
@ OiafP -And I like how Romney never mentions the fact that his plan would have nobody working, GM Chrysler and Ford would be gone and all of their suppliers.
Romney=Osama alive, GM dead. Face the facts neo-con pukes. LOL
You must be right NLR...there is no way that void would have been filled by anyone if those companies had gone completely under. We would have just gone without several million cars a year...nobody would have come in and started them back up.
You guys make me laugh...
just saying..
Right capt re reg you know for a fact that GM and Chrysler would have started right back up. Unless the company that bought them was like Bain and decided to take the pensions and ship the companies to Mexico, India or China. But good ole capt re reg has a crystal ball and he can see the future.
I suppose Stormguy if you had worked at GM for 20 yrs. You would be completely comfortable while your company collapsed, because you knew there would be a new company just ready to take over and then hire you into your old position at the same pay. LOL
Most every person in the textile and the furniture industry lived through that nightmare here in NC when those industries were collapsing about 20-25 years ago. Where was the government to support those companies? Oh wait, they weren't union shops so the Democrats didnt give a damn about them.
just saying...
Right just leave out the fact that it was under Reagans presidency that those industries were shut down and moved to Asia. A direct result of Reagan ending the industrial economy for a service economy, but hey why let history get in your fake outrage rant.
As losses and excess plant capacity haunted GM as the 1990s became the new millennium no amount of retooling could change the inevitable. A crew continued to work at Janesville Assembly through June, 2009, completing the Janesville/Isuzu light truck contract. ...From GM news release.
The RealChris. Do you recognize the re-reg? I do.
LOL. He should rereg again and call himself "I Post FAILED Facts"

Paul Ryan's major private equity connection
By Dan PrimackAugust 14, 2012: 12:20 PM ET
Vice presidential candidate's brother involved with private equity, Bain.
FORTUNE -- Rep. Paul Ryan only has been Mitt Romney's running mate for a few days, but he has a much longer connection to another private equity executive: Tobin Ryan, Paul's older brother and a partner with Seidler Equity Partners.
Seidler is located just outside of Los Angeles, but Tobin Ryan works out of his home state of Wisconsin. He joined the firm in October 2010, following a three-year stint with local private equity firm King Equity.
Before that, he served as chief operating officer for Tomah Products, a maker of industrial ammonia that is now owned by Air Products & Chemicals Inc. (APD). It was during Ryan's time at Tomah that he first got to know the folks at Seidler, when the firm helped sponsor a management buyout from another outside shareholder. Tomah's CEO at the time, Steve King, is a major player in Wisconsin's Republican Party, last year serving as one of three transition team members for newly-elected RNC chair Reince Priebus.
Oh, and if you go back far enough, Tobin Ryan also happened to work as a manager with consulting firm Bain & Company (although Romney had returned to Bain Capital by the time Ryan joined).
"We're very close," Tobin Ryan told Fox News host Greta Van Sustren during an interview last night, in which private equity was not discussed. "We shared a bedroom growing up... Now we're raising our families together in Janesville, and [live] about a three-wood away from each other."
So we've now got a former private equity executive running for president alongside the brother of a current private equity executive. Perhaps one of these days we'll learn if either one of them supports the industry's favorite tax break, in which partner profits ("carried interest") is treated as capital gains, rather than as ordinary income.

HEIST: Who Stole the American Dream? is stunning audiences across the globe, as it exposes the real truth behind the worldwide economic collapse, tracing its origins to a 1971 secret memo entitled Attack on American Free Enterprise System. Written over 40 years ago by the future Supreme Court Justice Lewis Powell, at the behest of the US Chamber of Commerce, the 6-page memo, a free-market utopian treatise, called for a money fueled big business makeover of government through corporate control of the media, academia, the pulpit, arts and sciences and destruction of organized labor and consumer protection groups

NO SURPRISES HERE!! You can tell when a republican is lying when his mouth is moving.....LIE, CHEAT, AND STEAL. Tell the same lie often enough and some people will believe it is true.
here are some quotes from the local Janesville news paper the Gazette extra
"JANESVILLE — A decades-old rumor became harsh reality today when General Motors announced that it will cease production at its storied Janesville assembly plant by the end of 2010."
"GM President Troy Clarke said the automaker’s forecasts necessitate one-shift production in Janesville into 2010."
"GM officials also said today that the plant’s medium-duty Isuzu truck line in Janesville will end production by the end of 2009. It employs fewer than 50 workers."
"That product is expected to expire in 2010, as is the Janesville plant."
the plant did not stop production on 2008
so who is the lyer ED ?
You are. The plant was decided to be closed in 2008. The fact that it took the process a couple of years to occur doesn't change that fact.
ED didn't say that RealChris
this is what he said
"In fact, the plant halted production in December 2008"
you can read it your self in the 6 paragraph
ED is the lyer here
Since I grew up 35 miles from Janesville, Wisconsin and the GM Plant it was a long time coming for it to close. President Obama had nothing to do with it's closing. Once again Ryan is a liar. What do you expect from a Ayn Rand follower.
1for1
the question is when was the plant closed?
And Paul Ryn Shrugged when asked about begging for stimulus fund's.
Thanks whomitmay...I thought everyone would have read the article. I didn't explain myself that well....my bad....
NP 1 have to keep the tea bagged republicans aware that we know they are going to repeat GOP lies and they are not going to get away with it. Funny the only factory I knew that was able to shut down and move quickly was Baker/Perkins and even then it took 2 years before they were able to come in at 3am with a fleet of 18 wheelers remove the machines workers had packed, they were told all the machines in the factory were being replaced with new updated machines, so when the workers showed up for work at 7am they found the workers parking lot gates shut with a sign that said closed. Baker/Perkins had signed a tax agreement with the city to remain open if they got a 60% tax cut from the city, Baker/Perkins skipped out and still owes the city for millions of unpaid taxes. All the machines ended up in Germany at a new green factory.
Last Chevrolet Tahoe rolled off the line in Janesville on 23 December 2008 and was auctioned off on 25 Feb 2009.
Ed DID NOT LIE!
Ryan has been in office for 14 years. He lives in a democrat state, his district has more democrats than republicans.
Obummer and the democrats lied to us in Jan 2009 with the A.R.R.A. It was going to keep the unemployment rate from going to and over 8%, hit 10% October that year and has been over 8% everyday sense.
Lets replay the tape of odummy's 2008 march on the white house.
Hum he said he would lower the unemployment rate, he said he would lower the defect, he said that there would be a web site that would show all bills before he signed them into law that all Americans could read all these bills.
No cow man the liar here is you. What makes you believe that your post have any credibility when you are a tea bagged republican who just repeats whatever GOP lie is for the day. I mean really cow man admit the truth yor only reason for being on Ed's blog is to keep posting GOP lies.
And that is why he made the "Big Homecoming" in Waukesha
Hey whom how you doing on that 8th grade math question?
Next, Odummy and the dummrats in Jan 2009 all told us that the A.R.R.A would keep the unemployment rate from hitting 8%, it hit 10% in Oct 2009 and has been over 8% everyday sense.
1st lie from obummer.
Whats that cow man say you need help with your 8th grade math. Sorry I refuse to help cheaters do your own 8th grade math for once in your life. Still shows that you are not even smart enough to figure that whatever you post cow man will be a lie.
And Holy Crap still thinks the uninsured should go to the emergency room for their healthcare. Figure out what an ignorant statement that was yet?
That's right most people get there health care in the emergency room, or at the free clinic, or the health dept.
Which is the most expensive healthcare in the nation Einstein, and you're all for it as you stated in a previous post. And you ppl call yourselves 'CONservatives'.
Just think there is people out their that would believe Obama shut it down . Ryan what a joke.
Well, ho lee cow will believe it.....just because he believes anything the republicans say.
I just cannot figure out why so many people are acting so nonchalant about Mitt Romney not showing his taxes or him telling us we cannot found out about his life, His school Days, His religion, his family, his time at Bain, his time as governor, or His money in off shore accounts.
I’m sorry but who does he think he is, I used to work for a company as a personnel director I hired and fired people. For some positions after deciding on a hire, I would have to send them for a physiological and physical examination, lie detector tests, do a criminal background check, finger print them and research their entire background for 15-20 years, both financially and personal. If this is ok for people to get a position at a company. Why wouldn’t the same hold true for someone we may be hiring to be our President.
If he indicated at the first interview that he would not adhere to the requirements involved for the position, This man would not get a recall interview; his file would be placed at the bottom of the pile or discarded.
Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan lies every time they open their dam mouth. Once again Ryan was proven to have lied when he told the reporter that he did not ask for the dreaded Stimulus money, then letters show that Ryan indeed ask for money and he said it could create and save jobs in his home state. Newt Gingrich call Mitt Romney a liar, Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan lies and they have no problem telling the lies.

JANESVILLE — Nearly 70 more displaced General Motors’ employees in Janesville will soon be back on the line.
In Fort Wayne, Ind.
The most recent wave of transfers reduces the laid-off Janesville hourly workforce to 341 production and 95 skilled trades employees, GM spokeswoman Kim Carpenter said.
Across the nation, GM has about 6,500 laid-off hourly workers who have the right to take jobs at existing wages as they open up at other plants. The automaker expects that number to fall as it adds third shifts at plants in Fort Wayne and Lansing, Mich.
The Fort Wayne plant has about 2,500 workers who build Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks. The plant soon will add a third shift and is expected to add an additional 700 workers.
Carpenter said the third shift in Fort Wayne created the recent offers to 67 Janesville workers. When those workers report next month, the Fort Wayne line will have more than 100 transfers from Janesville.
Carpenter said more Fort Wayne staffing offers will be made through mid-April.
The influx of workers to Allen County, Ind., hasn’t gone unnoticed. Officials there are working to better market the area’s real estate market to the incoming workers.
On Tuesday, GM officials couldn’t immediately provide an updated number of laid-off Janesville workers who have transferred to other plants. Through November, 536 local workers had transferred. At a minimum, that number is now greater than 600.
More than half are now working at GM’s plant in Fairfax, Kan., which produces the popular Chevrolet Malibu and recently added a third shift.
John C. Dohner, president of United Auto Workers Local 95 in Janesville, wouldn’t speculate on the possibility of more transfers for displaced local workers.
“But we can’t stress enough that if you’ve got an interest in going to another plant, you should get your name on the list,” Dohner said.
Local 95 is down to one remaining benefits representative, Dohner said.
Starting Monday, that representative will move his office from the plant to the union hall on Lafayette Street.
Dohner said John Kosharek’s hours will be from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Thursday. His new office phone number will be (608) 755-5120, ext. 119.

Prove it 'bagger. Or should I add you to the list of who's the biggest liar...again.
sunnbian#2~ I really think he wants to be Prez, he just doesn't have any idea what that entails. He thinks he can just sit there and make rulings like he did when he was a CEO. He wants all the glory of being Prez, but he has no idea how to go about it. And if he thinks he would be running things if he DOES get in, won't he be surprised when Grover hands him the pen and says "Sign!"?
Futhermore he probably is just to old to be running for President!
Unemployment rates rose in July in almost every state, including those where the presidential election fight is expected to be fiercest, according to data released on Friday by the Labor Department.
Altogether, jobless rates rose in 44 states. Rates dropped in Idaho, Rhode Island and the District of Columbia, and were unchanged in four states: California, Hawaii, Ohio and Utah.
thanks Obama......
I have to admitt he flat out lied on that one. Got to call it like I see it.
You couldn't call a turtle race and get it right.
Hey John, He did admit that ryan lied.....and it isn't the first time....it is a habit.
