Romney’s Bain Capital / Tax Return problem is truly hitting a critical mass and is now in the mainstream of American political consciousness: The latest survey conducted by Democratic-leaning Public Policy Polling (PPP) on behalf of Daily Kos and SEIU shows that 56 percent of American voters believe Romney should release his tax returns for the last 12 years, compared with only 34 percent who believe he should not. George Romney, the late former governor of Michigan and father of the presumptive Republican nominee, released 12 years’ worth of his tax returns when he ran for president in 1968, famously quipping that “one year could be a fluke.”
The Obama campaign is ramping up the pressure: Democrats have entered the go-for-the-jugular stage of the presidential race, with President Barack Obama's campaign, the Democratic National Committee and an allied opposition research group all releasing videos today attacking Mitt Romney for his refusal to release more tax returns.
The videos are distinct. The Obama campaign clip will air on television in Pennsylvania, where Mitt Romney is campaigning today. The DNC's version craftily uses Sarah Palin to suggest that John McCain was so nervous about Romney's taxes that he made a historic roll of the dice with his running mate pick in 2008.
The video put together by America Bridge 21st Century is a sharp edit job of all the prominent GOP officials and pundits who have begun groaning about Romney's handling of the matter.
Meanwhile, there is yet more evidence the Obama campaign’s Bain ads are working:
In a swing-state survey from Purple Strategies released Monday, nearly 4 in 10 voters said new information they had learned in the past week made them consider Romney less favorably than they had before, and 42 percent of independents said Romney was “too out of touch” to be president. In Colorado, Virginia and Ohio, Romney’s favorability numbers have dropped from June.
It’s hard to see how Romney’s ‘exciting’ VP pick will change the narrative but he’ll try:
Reuters reports that Mitt Romney has reached the final stages of selecting a vice presidential running mate, with “growing speculation” that he has narrowed the short list to three prospective candidates:
Ohio Senator Rob Portman, former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty and Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal.
And to add insult to injury, looks like Romney even has an Olympic sized outsourcing problem:
For the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, who has repeatedly promised on the trail to "get tough" on China… while at the helm of the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Romney outsourced the production of torchbearer uniforms to Burma.
We’ll be asking if Mitt Romney can survive this and actually make it t the GOP convention when fellow Republicans seem to be turning against him.

The NObama campaign is LYING......
Vote NObama 2012!!
Just WHAT Doesnt RobMe Dodge ??????
For many in this nation he is the big bad wolf of Bain who took there jobs and made billions. Hes allot like the thief that robs you blind and thinks his success from your misery is great! He has done what no one else has done running for President and i am afraid he is going to get away with it!
b113: You puke out the same vomit over and over. Stop regurgitating your spam or else get the heck off of this blog. You sound like a 5th grade child in elementary school pouting at recess. Your solutions for problems are where? Your sources are where? Your ideas for a good discussion are where or what? Go back to 5th grade because you are acting like a little yellow coward.
Disclaimer: For silly blogs go to fox news...'The don't come any sillier than us' is our motto.
And now for something different- something that both conservatives and liberals are agreeing on.
The George Will question is still coming up....
Why why why?
He could have had completely clean tax returns from 2008 forward if he wanted them. Why didn't he make the effort?
Any fool could have figured out what he had to do, yet he didn't do it. Even for the year he did release his taxes, he had tax havens on the books.
What was he thinking?
I think #2 gets at the heart of it. Mitt knows he is special. He really believes in the old testament notion of "headship"- that the masses need a king like Solomon because they can't grasp truth on their own, and without a king there will be chaos. Theologically, Romney is not Christian not because he is a mormon, but because rejects the notion of the great prophet of Christianity or the great prophet of Buddhism that everyone has a direct line to the truth, and intermediary kings are not to be trusted with anything- they are no closer to truth than you or I.
I know the religious angle roils many leftists. But get a grip folks, many of us on the left use the lens of spirituality to look at politics, and those that use the language of spirituality are not all cultural and moral bigots. In fact, their bigotry is the surest proof that their contact with spirituality is more remote than even atheists.
Most people who really know what's in the bill like it! And you can't ignore Romney's plan and the overwhelming similarities to the ACA.
Finally, Obama has come out with record!! Yayyyy!!!

How could anyone argue with that" Get REAL, for God's sake.
If you ignore the facts this is a fairly compelling argument. F&F was a Bush-Era program; Said that Romney "may have" committed a felony, which is currently under investigation; EPA regulations that protect Americans; AAA to AA due to GOP/Tea party voting against increasing the Debt Ceiling; Never heard of Gore item, please give your source; Gas prices have never been under the control of any POTUS; Recession, duh; Ditto; No POTUS has ever controlled drug research, though GOP has voted against policies that would bring Big Pharma pricing under control (ACA); The American Jobs Act would have and will positively address the rest of your list from the middle where I stopped to the very top! You cannot have a conversation with a person who will ignore the facts when facts are inconvenient to their position/s.
Is this story to become the basis for a new movie, "Citizen Bain"?
BooCoo, you are genius Michael Moor needs to make it and expose the Robber Barron Romney !
cimes against dogs for one. as for lies? now thats a whole different story.
President Obama is NOT the only american who has eaten dog. instead of starving to death, people have also eaten other humans.
maybe if/when romney tells us the truth about his taxes, then we can criticize him legitimately for that, instead of wondering what he is trying to hide.
how old ARE you?
Yep just as I thought a lie you repeat from wing nut ville where no lie is to great to not be believed.
17 July 2012 Huffington Post:
Obama Jobs Council Packed With Outsourcing Companies
WASHINGTON -- During the past two weeks, President Barack Obama's campaign
has blasted Republican challenger Mitt Romney as an “outsourcer,” focusing on
his career with private equity firm Bain Capital. The Romney campaign hit back
on Tuesday, claiming Obama's stimulus package failed to protect American
workers and helped create jobs overseas.
If Romney really wanted a juicy example of outsourcing, he would have to
look no further than the president's jobs council.
Obama's Council on Jobs and Competitiveness, 26 business
leaders assembled by the president for job-spurring ideas, includes
representatives of several companies that have used outsourcing, fueling job
creation abroad and job losses in the U.S. Shipping work to low-cost overseas
labor markets has been a trend in American manufacturing for decades. The White
House has a plan to curb outsourcing, but companies represented on the
jobs council reveal just how pervasive the practice is.
There’s General Electric, whose CEO Jeffrey Immelt has served as chair of
the advisory board since January 2011. Since Immelt took over GE in 2001, the
company has lost 37,000 American jobs, and added 25,000 jobs overseas,
according to filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Some of those
U.S. job losses are inflated by the company’s sale of NBC to Comcast in 2009.
Chris Townsend, political director of the United Electrical Workers labor
union that represents roughly 5,500 GE employees in the U.S., said the company
has closed more than 30 U.S. plants since Obama took office. GE would not
confirm the number.
GE "is a company that, despite the constant claims of growth, continues
to shrink in the United States,” Townsend said. “These are a mixture of things
from garden-variety, old-line manufacturing plants to electrical apparatus
service facilities, sometimes something to do with servicing. Several of them
were GE Capital.”
GE's outsourcing-related job losses have occurred over a long period,
Townsend said. Unlike some of the companies that Bain Capital invested in -- which quickly
fell into bankruptcy, faced layoffs or saw jobs shipped overseas as the private equity firm continued to profit -- the GE plant closures have happened
slowly, he said.
Vote NObama 2012!!
The nerve of the Romney camp to accuse President Obama of being unAmerican, when in reality, Romney is the unAmerican tax/draft dodger!!
Romney with off shore accounts is UNAmerican! Romney shutting down factories in America is UNAmerican!
We love you Mr. President~ don't listen to them, we are voting for you~not against the other guy~
Obama/Biden 2012 FOR SURE
its very American to give a company a 500 million dollar loan from tax payer money to a company to build a car in Finland
Even if Romney did invest on foreign land he did it with his money he did not do it with tax payer money
And as an American you have that right to do what you want with your money it is un American to tell some one what he can or can not do with his money
Now if you want to live in a country that tells you what you can or can not do with your own money America isn't the place for you
Very well said, Elizabeth.
Dem Elizabeth, You are so right . With all the hateful rhetoric i have seen on face book from Tea Party i am convinced more than ever our having Obama's back is what we must do. I do not trust Tricky Romney and his values are not mine. I can not connect the dots with him on any level !!!
Obama/ Bidden 2012
Pam.................Do you answer the facebook liars? I don't do facebook, I spend enough time online as it is .
Obama/Biden 2012
@TRFjr
From Politifact {emphasis added}:
Our ruling
An ad from Americans for Prosperity starts with an image of Obama and says the stimulus bill sent tax credits overseas, such as "half a billion to an electric car company that created hundreds of jobs in Finland."
The reality: Half a billion in loans from a Bush-era program were approved for Fisker Automotive. But they weren’t tax credits, weren’t part of the stimulus bill, and didn’t go to Finland. And so far, the company has only gotten $190 million in those loans, far less than the half a billion.
Instead, the U.S. company spent a third of the money on U.S. engineering of a new electric vehicle. It chose to manufacture the car in Finland, without U.S. help. Another two-thirds of the loan, which it may or may not get, will go toward retooling a shuttered GM plant in Delaware.
The ad strings together disparate statements to tell a concocted story. The result is simply False.
I agree with that statement. However, the choices someone makes regarding what they do with their money demonstrates where their priorities are and what they base decisions on and are therefore a valid concern to me if that person wants to run this country.
Sorry DemwitELIZABETH but when NObama said something like this he is UN-American
The president made the comment Friday during a speech
to supporters in Roanoke, Va. Arguing that business owners got help from others
along the road to success and suggesting they should pay more in taxes in
return, he said: "If you've got a business you didn't build that. Somebody
else made that happen."

Emperor Obama, You're fast becoming my favorite read on this blog. LOVE YOUR COMMENTS!!!
it doesn't count if you're his wife...sorry
If you can assume Romney most be a tax cheat this is why he wont release more of his tax return then i can also using your same argument say Obama most be an accessory to a cover up in the murder investigation of Brain Terry for using executive privilege to hide documents
So can you Liberals give a sensible answer why you can say Romney most be hiding something for not disclosing everything you ask him too, but you don't question Obama for hiding documents in a murder investigation
WOW!! so true: TRFjr

so emp..............you think for one second your sarcasm will win you any converts?
Your comments solidify our resolve to elect President Obama!
Oh, now I get it...........you ARE for President Obama ~ just in a 'different' way!
Obama/Biden 2012
why is the Liberal running a campaign against Bush NEWS FLASH Bush isn't running for president he is retired get over it
If Obama releases the document he is hiding from the investigators in the fast and furious investigation they would not go to the public they would only be seen by the Congressional committee doing the investigation
Now you want Romney tax returns made public even though the ones who has the right to see them has seen them and that is the IRS so if he was guilty of a crime don't you think the IRS would have charged him or do you not trust the IRS and if you don't trust the IRS you have a big problem because they are the ones who are going to enforce Obama Care
Why would you give your financial records to some one waging class warfare against you
That would be like giving bullets to some one shooting at you
Even if every thing is legit with his return because they are the IRS says so. Obama would take them twist and manipulate them to make his point on how rich he is which just goes to show you he was successful and you know how Obama is against any one being successful he would be like look how many cars he owns and look how much he paid for that house
Yes Romney used loopholes to pay lower taxes the loopholes that Republicans and Democrats both put in the tax laws we all use loopholes every deduction you take on your returns is a loophole this is why half of Americans don't pay any federal income tax is because they take advantage of loopholes so they don't have to
I see nothing wrong with Romney using tax loopholes to pay less taxes. The loopholes probably need to be closed, but I don't begrudge someone taking advantage of them as long as it's legal.
That does not, however, address the questionable practice of filing paperwork with the SEC stating you're CEO, President, Chairman, sole owner, then claiming you had no part in decision making. How exactly does one resign retroactively? And why would it take three years to choose new management?
BTW, if in fact Romney walked away from Bain when he said he did, if he had no decision making responsibility for the three years it took to establish new management, then how is it okay to trust this person with running my country?
Facts are Facts some times Facts hurt....
Vote Nobama 2012!!

The GOP in the Senate filibustered the Small Business tax credit that would have helped create about one million jobs. The GOP House failed to pass the American Jobs Act that would have created or saved 2 million jobs. 3 million jobs would be enough to bring the unemployment rate down to under 7%. We have no one to thank but the GOP obstructionists in Congress for making unemployment higher than it needs to be. Traditional bills that in the past received bipartisan support are today routinely blocked. The GOP has moved so far to the right that they are stuck in a right winged ditch. I am not sure that a major political party would want to see the economy fail so they could get an advantage politically from it. I think this pathetic display of obstructionism by the GOP is going to cost them lots of seats in the House and Senate. I can not wait for the GOP to defend the massive Medicare cuts in the Ryan budget and the 3 million jobs that they have obstructed when the unemployment rate is at 8.2%. Democrats can turn this into a good advantage by November.
NObama is calling Romney a felon? With no proof? NObama admits to using Cocaine,
That IS a felony! Obama is a self admitted felon calling someone else a felon?
Vote Nobama 2012!!
So Ronmey shows let say 23 years of tax returns.
How many people will that put back to work tomorrow???
And then what will all you liberals go after next? maybe obamas record on the economy?
Obama has yet to tell us what his ideas are to fix the economy, all he can say it "TAX".
Then on TV it's "Entrepreneurs" need to pay back the government, it's the government that "Helped" you get rich.
No Way obama wins in Nov.
President Obama has absolutely told us what he wants to do to fix the economy..............you lie cowdung.
You know he has and we know he has spelled it out...........there is a JOBS Bill that the republicans in the Senate have blocked..........

gotoleft,
Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney support fees, just another synonym for taxes. There is plenty of info about that if you have *EYES* to see.
Is this how "the Dozens" work? Can the game raise our knowledge of politics?
Obama Creates Foreign Jobs
by Capitol Confidential, 14 Jul 2012, 6:12 AM PDT
President Obama is creating jobs – just not in the United States. In fact, the President is outsourcing plenty of jobs, shipping taxpayer money overseas to foreign-owned energy companies. While the U.S. government is running record deficits and the national debt nears $16 trillion, the Export-Import (Ex-Im) Bank is shipping more cash overseas in loans to foreign-owned companies.
How did the president become the Outsourcer-in-Chief?
Recently, the administration authorized a $1.2 billion loan guarantee to Mexico’s state-owned oil company, Pemex. The loan guarantee supports Pemex’s plans to place risky wells at depths over 8,000 feet just south of the maritime border with the United States.
Just two years after the BP Deepwater Horizon disaster, the Obama administration is entrusting the Gulf of Mexico to Pemex – a company with no experience drilling at such extreme depths and with a track-record that includes the second largest Gulf spill in history. You can’t make this stuff up.
But, this isn’t the first time that the Ex-Im Bank guaranteed loans to Pemex. In fact, Pemex is the Ex-Im Bank’stop borrower, raking in $10.6 billion in loans since 1998.
And, unfortunately, Pemex is more like the rule, rather than the exception. Take another state-backed oil enterprise, Brazil’s Petrobras, for example. Here the connection is even stranger, with the U.S. government loaning Petrobras up to $10 billion to fund oil projects off Brazil’s coast.
In return for the $10 billion, the U.S. gets a whole lot of nothing. As a state-backed company, Petrobras is required to purchase a large majority of its equipment from Brazil-based suppliers. And that local content policy is only expected to grow more stringent. In 1998, when the policy began, it “only” required Petrobras to purchase 40 percent of its equipment locally. Now, that is 65 percent. There’s no telling where Brazil’s President Rousseff might send it.
Let’s dredge deeper into the rabbit hole. In 2011, Petrobras developed plans to invest $225 billion on projects through 2015. The catch – the projects are mostly in Brazil. Spending on projects in the U.S. are a drop in the bucket, averaging less than $1 billion annually from 2007 through 2012.
But, Petrobras does employ over 300 workers in the U.S., bringing the Ex-Im Bank’s loan to $33 million per employee. It doesn’t take an education from Columbia and Harvard to realize this doesn’t add up.
Really you try to pass off the ACORN pimps sugar daddy's site as a credible source for information. Here is a clue, Breitbart is a lying sack of dung who is now serving the only purpose he was ever good for, fertilizer.
Breitbart was a terrible miserable excuse for a human being. Lies and more big lies were all that Breitbart ever achieved in blog spere. He is missed by no one with modicum of education as a credible source of information.
Fantastic Graphic!!!
Commone romney your such a wealthy guy lets see what you did for creating jobs in this country
