Hope recovers in the care of a Parker County vet after her brutal torture (Parker County).
Abused and neglected animals are rescued every day — but the case of a dog named Hope really shocked animal care officials and law enforcement in Texas.
Hope, a pug mix, was found earlier this week, wandering the streets with her muzzle forcibly shut by electrical tape. Someone had also pulled her tongue out. It swelled so much, she couldn’t eat, drink or even pant. Several deep cuts on her body required over one hundred stitches.
Her sweet disposition prompted her rescuers to call her Hope.
Now just days after she was found, she’s giving kisses to children who come visit the animal hospital, eating and drinking, and her caregivers believe her tongue will heal completely and remain intact.
People all across the country—and world—are rallying for Hope, contributing thousands of dollars to her care and to a reward to find the person or persons responsible for the abuse.
Adoption offers are also pouring in.

How could anyone do that to an animal ? I wish Hope a speedy recovery and going to a new home soon. If someone would do this to a dog what would they do to a human?
This country and this world have turned into the most evil place. If they find out who did it , I hope they shoot them on the spot. I'm tired of messing with these sickos that just get a slap on the wrist. You're right, who's the next victim, a human? You might as well shoot 'em, they're are no good to society if they'd do something like hurting a defenseless animal. Like the woman in W. Va. whose husband kept her shackled, broke her foot and it just had to heal on its own, burnt her with hot frying pans and an iron. Thank God she got away finally. People are just sick, sick, sick.
I think 'Stand Your Ground" gun laws would be appropriate here to protect a dog or other animals from abuse. People who do that kind of thing to animals will do it to people without a second thought. The single thing ALL serial killer have in common is cruetly to animals starting in childhood.
Animals aren't more imortant than people, they are just as important though.
whoever did this to this innocent dog should receive the same treatment. no animal should suffer due to the stupidity/cruelty of a person.
If I found anybody that abused any animal, the least of their worries would be the law. They'd get off easier with the law.
And just how would a person who did this to an animal treat other people? I think we all know. Punishment must be made greater for animal cruelty.
I've heard that the greatest majority of serial killers were animal abusers too! It so sad what some people will do to pets that just want to love you and to be loved!
Indeed I have had many abandon animals turned pets. And they were eternally grateful.
People can be evil.
They will abuse animals, other people, kill unborn babies- there is no limit...
Some people get pets and don't take care of them just have them as objects for status. And when those pets don't behave they hurt them. And become unruly they blame the pet for their own shortcomings.
This violence is preached in our papers and on the TV. The folks that watch and read hate material are sad and I am saddened by their continued thinking that this behavior is OK. What kind of an environment are the children being raised in today that think this is acceptable?

Poor " Hope ", I'm praying for you, such a kind sweet dog . I hope the police can find the person that did that to her , that person should be in prison for a long, long time. The story just break my heart!
I am glad to see Hope is recovering so well. Too many times these animal cruelty cases end with the loss of a best friend someone could have had if the heartless bastards had not tortued. Someone knows something ..that taping of Hopes mouth while pulling the tongue out took at least 2 people. The reward money should be a motivator for someone to talk to the police. I would love to know the persons who did this have a visit with them without police to protect them from what I will inflict to them. I need no reward money... set it up for education to better protect our furry friends. Let's get the mentally sick bastards off of the streets & into a psych ward so as may prevent an abuse.

Whoever did this deserves the same done to them, Left to die. I hope they find who did and hang em. Texas style, The laws , if they are found some defense lawyer will bring up bad childhood some crap about they were abused. BS Some shrink w...ill find some defense. There IS NO DEFENSE about this kind of abuse. Some people are just wasting air on this planet and should be removed. Like the person that did this..........I pray for Hope, this little dog, and pray that who did this meets a terrible death soon. I own 4 golden retrievers and if this story doesn't make you go hug your dog you don't have a soul.

To not prosecute this kind of brutal, sadistic and cruel abuse sends the WRONG message- that torturing animals is really just a minor thing to be easily ignored. Whoever did this (and I agree with the person who said that pulling Hope's tongue almost out of her mouth WHILE taping her mouth shut w/ electrical tape would take more than 1 person) needs be held responsible for his (or her) criminally abusive and sadistic behavior. Also, the people who pointed out that serial killers begin by torturing animals are correct. Someone who is this sick and evil does not stop w/ one dog or with dogs. They get bored and have to up the ante to someone who can fight back.
I can't even tell you how angry this makes me. This poor little guy. I would like to get ahold of these people and pull their tongues out all by myself! What a wicked thing to do to abuse helpless animals. Rot in hell all of you who do anything to hurt animals and children!

Our society must send the message that animal abuse, especially such horrendously cruel and vicious abuse, will NOT be tolerated. Also, the people who said that serial killers begin by torturing animals are correct. The "person" who did this is so sick and evil that he/she will not stop w/ 1 dog and very likely will not stop with dogs. Evil sadists get bored with helpless victims like Hope and move on to more challenging victims (people). Just on it's own (forgetting for a second that this very dangerous abuser will likely abuse others), HOPE DESERVES JUSTICE and this abuser must be held accountable for the unimaginable suffering he/she has inflicted. Thank you Ed Schulze, Chris Matthews and Al Sharpton and other MSNBC staff members for hammering away concerning Mitt Romney on releasing his taxes. Also, please, please, please keep hammering away with "voting suppression" by Republicans. The 15th Amendment is a right of all Americans and not a privilege or right for a selected few... Also, many listeners are being well educated concerning Bain Capitol. Keep the commercial running especially the human interest ones. The most appealing one was the lady who suffered with tremors. Her story was so heartbreaking. That commercial really revealed how losing a job can davastate a family, home and children. Tell the Democrats to show the Bain commericial daily. I believe even a hard core Republican would be moved by it or them!
As for animal abuse, this was an evil, heartless and cruel act toward any helpless animal. People who commit this type of act should pay a severe penalty for this type of animal abuse. For example, all dog abusers should be put in a closed area with a tall fense around it and let them know that in 30 minutes that a pit bull dog standing at the back of the fense would be let inside of the closed area and would be told to attach on command. The dog abuser would not know it but you could also stop the attack on command. The whole ideas is that the person would suffer more mental pain than a physical one. I guarantee anyone that these animal abusers would never mis-treat another animal. Justice would be served!
