The greatest lie ever told, the ones Republicans most want you to believe, is that President Obama is a classic tax and spend liberal.
In truth, under Obama taxes have hit a 30-year low, in part because of tax cuts enacted by the president as part of the stimulus package.
Average federal tax rates are lower than they were under Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush.
These are numbers from the Congressional Budget Office and it doesn't matter if you look at just income taxes or all federal taxes combined, under President Obama, taxes are at a 30 year low.
The CBO report only goes through 2009, but since then, President Obama has lowered taxes even more with the payroll tax cut.
Of course, these facts haven’t stopped Republicans from complaining about taxes under the president's watch.
To be fair, some of this Republican whining is in response to President Obama's pledge to let the Bush tax cuts expire for the top two percent.
But the fact remains, under President Obama, taxes are at a 30 year low.
Yes, some of this republican whining was in response to president obama's pledge to let the bush tax cuts expire for the top two percent, but tax rates would still be at a record low.
President Obama has had to combat the lie with the facts.

Then how do you explain 6 trillion in debt in 3.5 years...oh that's wright it Bush's fault...
VOTE NObama 2012!!!!!
How do you explain being unable to understand what's right in front of you?
I believe that's because of the economy George W. Bush crashed and the two wars he started for no reason b113.
b113.................Iraq war........tax cuts for the wealthiest! That explains the republican made deficit!!
the economy crashed under the demacrats they took control of congress in 2007 then the white house in 2009....
Facts don't lie unlike Congress who couldn't tell the truth if their lives depended on it. Blame three wars, blame taxes being lowered or non-existent, blame people like Mitt Romney for stashing all that money overseas so he doesn't have to pay taxes on it. Stop being a lemming and dig for yourself.
Well the Iraq War didn't just automatically end once Obama was elected. So yeah, it's attributable to George W. Bush. Also, you're looking for the word, "right."
2 Bush wars and tax cuts 4 rich. Really!!!
how about the fact that we have been in war................for too long.
2001 The Afghanistan war started
2003 The Iraq war started
Simple search on the internet even for a GOP voter
Glad to see you finally understand.
B113 - You should check your facts.
A big chunk was added to the deficit early in 2009 - the cost of two WARS, which had been kept off budget during the Bush years. That was NOT spent by President Obama. A lot of it went to war profiteers, including Halliburton, which enriched Cheney because he still owned his stock.
Taxes are lower now than at any time since 1924. And those who have the most money are paying the lowest percentages. They get the most advantage and give the least to the country.
Republicans in congress are complicit in allowing the rich to screw the rest of America.
b113, despite your sarcasm you actually answered your own question. LOL.
What is it that's right in front of you? It's a chart that does not include Obama's time in office. The Chart ends in 2009. When did Obama take office? What did he do? He spent $3.5 trillion that we didn't have. I don't mind paying higher taxes if, first, our fearless leader would tackle waste, fraud, pork-barrel expenditures and foreign aid to countries that hate our guts. Once you attack that and, by the way, DELIVER A BUDGET, then come see me about a tax increase.
b113, you can't spell nor can you keep your history straight the economy crashed before Barack Obama took Office- it was during W Bush's last session that this crisis began. I know both administrations worked together to bring this crisis under control, but the turn in the tide in terms of job loss into job gain happened when the stimulus was put in place and other Obama ideas were allowed to be put in play. the problem happened under Bush, b113 the the solution WAS P Barak Obama. We would be so much further along in our recovery if The Sabatours would stop sitting on their hands, holding their breath clothing every move he makes; it does nothing but sink them further still.
B113 - here's how it works in the simplest terms so you might be able to understand.
If there is less money coming in, due to lower tax rates and people being unemployed paying less in taxes, etc., etc. and there are still things that HAVE to be paid like the military pay, Medicaid and Social Security, Homeland Security, education, paying those useless Congressional and Senate members who keep voting on the same thing day after day, that means THERE ISN'T ENOUGH MONEY TO PAY THE BILLS ANYMORE! And the debt was already loaded due to unfunded wars started by Bush, and the bailout of the banks paid out at the end of the Bush term. Remember that?
Taxes HAVE to be raised to increase revenue (as they were by Reagan and Clinton and every president faced with a recession) - cuts have already been made and that's why there's less money to go to states to help cities pay for police and fire and education. But Congress does NOT want to help the economy, it would make Obama look good.
Think you've got it now? Or do we need to resort to pictures of piggy banks?
there's no reason why my note above should be flagged, i think I did it by accident- can that get fixed?
You all are so miss informed, It is sad.
Look when you have High unemployment the result is less money that is coming into the US Treasury. The cost of running the Government is still at an all time high Because of wars and Medicare Part D, etc. The programs that have been passed by past Congresses are still in effect. So the Government has no choice but to borrow money which is why the Debt is going up. It not that Obama is spend the money on his programs, why because the Republicans won't let him. They continue to filibuster any bills that will help put Americans to work.
b113: $6trillion in 3.5 years? Seriously Dude, you need to stop getting your facts from chain emails.
http://tinyurl.com/77ktcul
Politifact looks at the $6 trillion claim, and the chain email that made it.
Elena. Not sure what you mean by "flaged" but if it's that green star, that is when you get 5 thumbs up for your comment.
Because 2 or 3 trillion of that was the wars Bush kept off the books. When Obama was elected he said he was going to show it, so naturally the Reps like to blame him for it. If Bushy would have declared it like he SHOULD have, would you guys have bi$%^ed at him too?? And let's not forget Bush's baby, unfunded Big Pharma also!
Off the books? You mean like borrowing all the money in the Social Security trust fund and replacing it with government IOUs that don't show as public debt? The current national debt is concerning, but the real back breaker is yet to come. It's called "unfunded liabilities" (read Medicare, Medicaid, government pensions and the like) That means our current obligations are more like $63-85 trillion. That math doesn't work and none of the knuckleheads in Washington has the guts to begin to deal with this untenable situation. We are borrowing forty cents of every dollar the Federal government spends. You wouldn't run your family or business that way. "Taxing the rich" is misdirection. Take all their money and it won't make even a small dent in the fiscal problems we face. We are spending ourselves into oblivion. Fiscal discipline is essential and we can't ever get a budget in three years? What a joke! And even the Democrats deep-sixed their president's budget.
Actually Dave, the money from the Social Security trust fund that, by law, is invested in US Treasury bonds does show up at part of the public debt. Foreigners do now own almost 50% of the public debt, which is not good considering that percentage has been historically about 20%, and it's up from 31% in 2001.
BTW, as near as I can tell the law requiring overpayment of Social Security taxes be invested in US Treasury bonds has been there since the program's inception.
Here's a link to a very informative article on the public debt that came out in Forbes Magazine.

Now here's a chart for the Tea Party. Please read.
TheRealChris... What's right in front of you is tax data that does not pertain to Obama's term in office. Wait til Medicare premiums double in 2013. That's going to hit the elderly/retired and it's going to put a huge pressure on them. Be careful how much of Big Ed's Kool Aid you drink.....
Hey Dave...........That ol' scare tactic of lie spewed by F---news won't hunt around here!
Everything is going broke except the payrolls and health-care of the senators, congressman/women and millionaires/billionaires!
No health-care for all Americans - no more health-care for Congress!
Let's tell the truth here..........insurance companies have used the lying, fake and outrageous F---news to spread their distortions because they don't want to pay 80 %-85% of policies on the actual patient instead of their own paychecks!!
If the average American is making less money now and more Americans are unemployed, doesn't it make sense that the average tax rate would be lower?
just saying...
You're ALWAYS "just saying" something, which usually doesn't amount to ANYTHING.
stormguy - the tax revenue would be lower, but the rate is unaffected. No matter how much people make, or how many people are working, the rate is still set by the government. And it's lower, thanks to the efforts of Obama and the Democrats.
Ryan...I understand your point, however I think you are mistaken for the following reason..if the average American is making less money, he/she pays a lower rate. Here is my example, and forgive me for not knowing the exact breakpoints for the the tax brackets. Assume that in years past, the average American was making $40,000, His tax rate would have been 25%. If that average salary drops to $35,00 because of the poor economy and an increase in unemployment, then the average tax rate would be 15%.
I don;t know the statistical data or the model that this chart used to determine their results, but it is very reasonable to deduct that the reason for the overall average lower rate is because of a drop in average income to the average American. And in that regard, you are right that the lower average income is thanks to the efforts of Obama and the Democrats.
just saying..
Here we go with the good old fuzzy math skills from good old capt a.
Dave Aldridge-
Drinking too much tea is one thing-showering in it is something else entirely.
Ed,
Put your clown nose back on. Your chart only goes through 2009. And who was president during the period your chart covers. Not President Obama..... George Bush. Obama didn't take office until 2009. And let's not forget that huge shaft coming from our fearless leader in 2013 when medicare fees (read tax) double...... What a crock. Quit cooking the books you clown.
2009 is where the payroll tax, Bush extensions, relief for illegal foreclosures, tax credit for companies bringing their staff back to the states, It keeps going, my friend, but data gatherers have high standards, and I'm thinking they want to wait until they really know which bills have been functionally enacted before including them in such a statistic. This is a 30 year statistic, Dave, it is monumental, not cooked, so go try and comprehend it instead of ranting half-baked comments.
So tell me again why I am giving President Obama credit for the tax reductions when the chart above, which is what Big Ed is basing his tirade on, reflects tax rates before he took office? Please explain it to us. Unless you have some more recent data, giving Obama credit for the chart above IS cooking the Obama books......
Not true. A huge part of the stimulus was tax cuts.
Dave Aldridge-
Please see comment #33.1 on next page.
b113 - you're an IDIOT. Stop your republican brain-washed talking points - and look (and respond if you can. LOL!) to the facts at hand. RIGHT in front of you.
Also your guy - George W. Bush HID (literally, hid!) his spending - on his wars OFF-budget as EMERGENCY spending. It was Pres. Obama who put that spending BACK on budget. and then republicans tried to blame HIM for the previous Bush OFF-budget spending!? Ridiculous.
wow put down the coolaid my Friend....
NumbNuts. What is it that's right in front of you? It's a chart that does not include Obama's time in office. The Chart ends in 2009. When did Obama take office? What did he do? Gopers on this board don't know how to READ. Nothing unusual. POTUS gave even more tax cuts to the middle class after 2009. READ! READ! READ!
Tman,
Welcome to the blog.
i do agree with you but you might not want to use the word idiot directly. it can get you a day off. CoH thing.
other then that you have met you first re-reg cult troll you will see many more, LOL heck they all could be the same.
Greed- you indicate POTUS gave tax cuts- what country is that- where in the Constitution or existing statues does the president set tax rates? Specific statute or Constitution sections would be helpful.
I also notice "dave" enjoys joining his righties with the name calling and insulting Ed. Hope Sally takes notice also.
well see there is thing called WAR, and it's VERY expensive.
The GOP has been waging war on America for decades. It hasn't cost them a thing. Actually made them money.
there are lies and then there are Republican lies. Obama is no tax and spend President but if the lie is repeated often enough....
dave he was officially in office until Jan 20th of 2009 genius! so when they did the study I'm pretty sure in wasn't the 20 days that obama wasn't in office.. nice try
Here is a link to a four part documentary on the global financial collapse. It's in four parts and very informative. Well worth watching. (about 3 hours total)
Well, it was there. I guess I'm not allowed to add links since that deal on Current TV.
topdocumentaryfilms.com/meltdown/
You can't add links until the Vine lets you. Takes a while.
I'm curious... If tax rates have dropped, then how come I paid $200.00 more for tax year 2011 than I did in 2010, 2009, and 2008? My income hasn't changed since 2008. In fact, nothing has changed since 2008.
If MSNBC has a chart then I guess it must be true.... Who do I call to get my $200.00 dollars back?
Oppps...My bad, The chart only goes to 2009...lol
Brush up on your math!
Didn't you get that huge check when Bush took office? He had money to burn. The Billionaires got a hell of a big check, were some that were in the millions! Guess how much Halliburton got?
Greek American, The reason you paid more on federal income taxes in 2011 is due to the fact that the "Making Work Pay" credit was eliminated and replaced by the 2% reduction in the employee FICA tax. In 2009 and 2010 working individuals were given a credit of up to $400 and working couples received up to an $800 credit. You received this credit on Schedule M of your Federal 1040. For 2011 and 2012, the tax break was given to working individuals on their paychecks by way of a reduction in your payroll taxes. So if you earn $40,000 a year, you realize $800 more a year in your paycheck, but it won't show up on your tax return. It is still a reduction in taxes in my book, and they were put into effect during Obama's presidency.
Thank you, BuckiNancy. The Democrats really have to spell this out more.
First of all, b113 should learn to spell...wright!...he must have gone to a private school.
I guess the $3 trillion in surplus Dubya squandered then added $6.4 trillion in additional debt is not to be discussed. Nor is the fake war in Iraq that killed more US Military than those he was trying to avenge from 9/11.
When did Obama take office? 2009 What did he do? He spent $3.5 trillion that we didn't have. I don't mind paying higher taxes if, first, our fearless leader would tackle waste, fraud, pork-barrel expenditures and foreign aid to countries that hate our guts. Once you attack that and, by the way, DELIVER A BUDGET, then come see me about a tax increase.
The economy was already tanking before the election. But the LOANS to GM and Chrysler, that were repaid, brought both of those corporations back! The bankers just took the pre-Obama TARP funds and ran. And by the way, I guess you must be one of those very rich 2% if you are so worried about a "tax increase".
b113-
Don't steal and repost Dave Aldridge's post from #5.2. It's called plagiarism and is illegal and shows how incapable of thought you are.
Republicans have to lie about taxes to get the freeloaders in their corner.
to start with,i'm a die hard democrat and proud of it.-how could any independent or a old true republican possibly vote for the republicans complete bull@@@ these days.-these people will lie, distort anything they can to to get back in power.mitty boy couldn't answer a serious question if he had to.wait untill obama gets him in the debates and he has to on national tv to actually answer questions.these people are pathetic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Check Rollingstone to see who and why BILLONAIRS are spending money.
Romney and his posse are a disgrace to America. President Obama had to produce his birth certificate--why doesn't Romney have to produce his income tax papers? What's good for one should be good for the other. The fact that Romney has his money invested in places other than America is outrageous.
And now the Republicans have come up with a new way to steal a presidency--"Voter Fraud" which is why they have gone after the Attorney General. The NAACP should have walked out on Romney when he walked in--but they had too much class. Romney and his posse of henchmen have none.
This is the most savaged president in recent history. I can only think it's b/c of the color of his skin. Just sayin'....
You are absolutely correct, Sir!
Beside being made up of bigots, the Republican Party is made up of the rich and those stupid enough to do their bidding.
"You drank the Tea and ended up soaking up the sludge in Boston Harbor!"
how many REAL death threats by teabagger nutcases against the president have been documented?
Oh look..... the race card!
The Tea Party/Republican Party is largely populated by old, fat, WHITE - actually Pink - bigoted people; that is why these parties are dying out, not very gracefully... They do not have any replacements, and minorities, with all the variety of different levels of tan, simply do not find these folks very appealing. There is not much of a question regarding why these tanned folks do not find these groups appealing: It is obvious. They are two to three generations behind the rest of the world...
Beneath all of the attacks on President Obama lie a palpable fear and a hatred that I have only encountered in the Deep South, and that, many, many years ago... That is the base foundation of these two groups; watch them, listen to them, read the obscene hatred that permeates their every move... you have to be comatose to not see the obvious: old, fat, and WHITE Republicans/Tea Party folks are not nor will they ever be, ready for a tanned President of the USA...
the presidents race is the main prblem with the teabaggers, you should know davie, you're one of them.
Republican lies! Tax rates are down! What is wrong with telling the truth. First it was where Obama was born, then his religion was questioned nowthe tax lies are being repeated. It will only end with the defeat of Romney.
Another right wing lie. Obama administration has spent less than any administration since Eisenhower. Go read Forbes (a most conservative magazine)
The GOP thinks if they repeat a total lie enough that it becomes truth. Obama is not "out
The GOP thinks if they repeat a total lie enough that it becomes truth. Obama is not "out of control spending" - he's spent less and added less to the deficit than any president in decades. Spending is NOT at an all time high - except for inflation. Where did you learn math? If I add 100 dollars to debt and you add one dollar, your dollar brings debt to "an all time high" but you're not responsible for the previous 100, correct?
Obama didn't add 6 bazillion to the deficit in 3.5 years. Washington Post:
"George W. Bush's major policies increased the debt by more than $5 trillion during his presidency. Obama has increased the debt by less than $1 trillion."
New York Times: Bush $5.07 trillion, Obama $1.44 trillion.
Keep spewing lies, but it doesn't make it true.
Are you nuts????? I'm a democrat and even I know thats not true. Check the CBO's numbers. Why would you take "facts" from the media?
Read it and weep, I suppose, and it's unfair of you to flag that comment simply because contains a newspaper quote with which you disagree but I wanted to but can't.
hello to all the new names good to see you.
mike is a parrot for rushbuttboil, fox.saudi. propaganda.entertainment news and must of the other right/wrong wing.
if you notice you will see the same talking points.
Elena. I don't think you comments are "flagged". The green star is when you get 5 thumbs up for your comment. Welcome to the blog and keep it up. Watch the righies. They try to get people made so they say something to get them in trouble. Keep shoving facts and truth at them.
Larry...dont mislead Elena...you and I both know that regardless of anything that someone on the left says on this blog, the likelihood of them getting in trouble is as close to zero as you can possibly get. this is a leftist blog and your people control the spin they want to see on it. If they don't like it, especially if it is because too much of the truth is being told to the readers, then they ban the poster.
There is nothing fair about the treatment on this blog...which is just more hypocrisy from the left...
just saying...
LOL
wa wa wa from a re-reg.
is that a anti-torque whine or just a rudder whine?
Why is it that republicans are such idiots? Look at the first posted fool! It says "Vote no Obamacare 2012". What about the people who really need health care. I dont give a dam who has created the health care plan, its for our nation, the people, children, elderly and the sick. The only thing that your ass is trying to do is go after President Obama. That is a personal issue. You are a selfish son of a bitch.Stop whinning and stick your penis between your legs bitch boy.
Dude realy PUT!!!!! down the COOLAID!!!!!!!!
Stop showering in tea! And stop plagiarizing other people's posts!
Mike-3183048, you are suspended for a week for violating rule # 1 of the Code of Honor... a lot.
Stormguy53
Do you mean like Mike-3183048 being suspended for the way he responded to bloviatingbiatch@gmail.com's attack on b113, while bloviatingbiatch was not even admonished?
Or perhaps "fool!...You are a selfish son of a bitch.Stop whinning and stick your penis between your legs bitch boy" is not a bad thing to say here?
Obama would have rised taxes but for the Republicans stopping him. Obama was forced to keep the Bush Tax Cuts, otherwise he would have taxes us more. As for spending, 5 trillion dollars says it all.
Unless you make more than a million dollars a year, he wouldn't have raised taxes on 'us'. The 1% boasts that they pay 40% of the taxes, but they make 80% of the money? How is that equitable?
Go Ryan! I tried to support the note you left below but it was marked as a flag instead- I did't mean that!! I've been saying what you do, actually! About the Right wing lie the Obama is a big spender- low as Ike as your say- the charts say it all. Red puts us in it, Blue gets us out of the red!
Ryan, There is a simple answer to your problem. Go earn a million dollars yourself, if that is what you want. The only thing holding you back is "You".
B-113 You are right it is Bush's fault. Bush left this country in a big hole and borrowed and borrowed. The president has been digging us out of the Bush hole for the past three and half years. Now Romney wants to take us back to where we were when Bush left office.
Spending at lowest point since Eisenhower administration. I will not let you repeat this lie again and again. Go read Forbes.
LOL
Ryan, thats all mike does. he is a parrot for the right/wrong wingnuts.
Of course you don't need facts for your answers, Mike, you are a Conservative. I just thought, you know, for a change of pace...
You are correct, President Obama is digging like crazy...... and the hole is getting deeper.
Unemployment when Georgie left office 7.8%; Unemployment today 8.2; total jobs created under Georgie after 8 years of his tax cuts 3.3 Million; total jobs created under Obama in 3.6 years 4.2 Million... and this, while dealing with the Great Depression, that Georgie left for him, plus, two unfunded, off-the-book wars and the big Pharma give away by Georgie...
This is simply not a record or a party that I would want to be associated with... but then, you are probably not aware that every enterprise Georgie every embarked upon, before he became President, went into bankruptcy or was bailed out by daddy and the Carlyle Group; the only thing Georgie ever did right was to leave the office of President...
bwler - you do know that the Democrats controlled the HOR from 2007 - 2011 right? and that the unemployment figure went from 4.6% to 9.1% during that time...right? and that since the Republicans took control of the HOR back in 2011, that the unemployment rate has dropped from 9.1% to the current level of 8.2%...right?
just saying...
just saying you're the most uninformed voter, like all teabaggers are? you never heard of the wall street meltdown? you ppl cant be this dumb, you're just playing, right?
JIT...are any of my facts incorrect? that answer would be no...
we can argue all day long about which party caused the economic recession we experienced and what those causes actually were...that is subjective. However...the FACTS above are indisputable...

Occupy 2012 Vote
In November, this year we vote for our Nation’s President and my interfaith
friends are all asking the same question, to understand the truth, beyond what
the social media campaign rhetoric suggests. Show us, everyone, the difference
between the Conservative “priest” or “Levite” and a Liberal “Samaritan” those
whom speak of their deeds, actions and programs for the greater good. What
would you have us do, we seek to know the truth and ask for a Word, Sign or
Symbol to share amongst our fellow brothers, sisters, neighbors and friends?
Haven't both candidates been given ample opportunities to give a word and do a deed? To stand up for a young woman whose name was more than tarnished on the airwaves? How did each man conduct themselves? Finally the forced statement, "Those aren't the words I would have used" or a personal phone call as if to one own daughter.
I hope you all know the other news events and can apply them yourselves….
To have an opportunity with the youth of ones own minority, beaming with hope- you mean one of us could be president? A tall slender man bends forward, so that the young boy can feel his hair. His IS just like MINE, the boy proves. How proudly has the other candidate shown his unique quality? How proud and hopeful are Mormons these days by the thought of our Nation's Leader bearing that faith?
I'm serious... Has anyone on this board paid Less in Tax Year 2011 than they did in 2010? I'm talking individual tax here.
And @GreedOverPeople... I did check my math and tax docs.... I paid 200.00 more for tax year 2011 than I have in previous years going back to 2008. Could the difference be tax cuts we received since 2008 and have since expired? I'm sure if I did some research, I could find the answers, but I would like to know if anyone knows this off-hand and if I can expect to pay less for tax year 2012. ( That is, if tax rates continue to drop)
To be honest, it's hard to keep track of....Just curious.
Sigh. But did you pay more than you paid in fiscal years 2001-2007? "Lower" is relative to previous administrations, not previous years. In order to give an example of a phenomenon, you must first understand the criterion given. Otherwise, you look foolish.
@Ryan Bass.... I see your point and my error.
Thank you pointing this out.
Yes To your first question, however, I'm in the very low bracket that will increase by 50% if the Bushes expire for all of us, a possibility, since PBO isn't going to let the top 2 continue, so what's the chance the Rs will let them continue for anyone?
Ryan so what is the criterion? this chart purports to express effective tax rates- i.e. I assume that means in terms of actual taxes paid in relation to adjusted gross income- the marginal rates have not changed for several years- the only thing that changed on a temporary basis was a reduction in SS "tax" at some as I recall in 2009- if your income goes down and you fall to a lower bracket- or just based on the progressive bias of the tax system at lower income levels- will produce a lower percentage- assuming the chart is accurate in terms of real tax dollars as a percentage of adjusted gross income- the question is what did President Obama have to do with any of this -- the answer is nothing- at least the last time I looked at the IRC or the Constitution there is no provision that lets the President set or adjust tax rates- only congress can set tax rates-
ST...there you go confusing them with facts again....you know that is not nice...
just saying...
you know what 'assume' is don't you? it makes an ass out of both of you.
"VOTE NObama 2012!!!!!" Ok, let's talk about your spelling. You idiots need to stop complaining, lets talk about the jobs bill that the republicans have not voted on. Now lets talk about the health care plan that the republicans are trying to repeal. We are a nation of people, children, elderly and the sick. Everybody is screaming about Obamacare, Romneycare...who gives a flying f__k! Romney dosnt know the smell of his body-it stinks! Not one time have I heard anyone say let's give a dam about the people. We need jobs, why dont you tell your idiot republican representatives to get off their asses and give a dam about the people who need jobs. All of you stop whinning, put your penis at an angle shoved in the back of your balls and just stop whinning bitch boys!
look in the mirror and you'll see the typical insane teabagger voter.
Reading the comments here I am reminded that it is impossible to convince anyone with cement between the ears of a truth they cannot or will not recognize.
Taxes are lower today than at any time since 1924.
President Obama DOES NOT SPEND ANY MONEY. Spending is CONTROLLED BY CONGRESS. All he can do is suggest spending bills, offer a proposed budget but ALL THE SPENDING is CONTROLLED BY CONGRESS.
Much of that spending is pure PORK and because the President does NOT HAVE A LINE-ITEM VETO, because of the way the Constitution is written, he MUST sign bills that include spending that he doesn't want and the country doesn't need because to get something through Congress he has to make compromises and far too often during the past 3 1/2 years, the republicans have GONE BACK ON THEIR WORD and demanded further concessions. Congress continues to insist on spending huge amounts on wasteful, unneeded, unwanted and often OBSOLETE military hardware that the Pentagon insists they cannot use, just to keep money from the military industrial manufacturers pouring into their pockets. Several independent, non-partisan, groups have investigated numerous programs and determined that more than 20% of the defense budget could be cut without affecting military readiness one iota.
So, since the Democrats were in charge of the Congress from 2007 to 2011, are they responsible for the economic collapse? From your logic, Bush did not spend any money, the Democratic controlled Congress did.
Thomas...please dont confuse these guys and gals with facts...

And just how were the Democrats in control. They have not had 60 votes in the Senate that it takes to pass cloture. Does record GOP filibuster ring any bells. In every congress for the last 5 years. I know, you don't believe it . Tough Sh*t. The truth sometimes hurts.
Larry...you will have to ask AndieP about that. He/she is the one that was talking about how the spending is controlled by the Congress(meaning House of Representatives) as a veiled insult to the Republicans who have control of the HOR at this time and that Obama is not to blame. Using that logic...the Democrats had a majority control of the HOR from 2007 - 2011 and are the party that was responsible for all of the spending during that time.
Coincidentally, they are the same party that has had majority control of the HOR, and thus the spending, in this country for about 65% of the time over the last 40-50 years.
yep..the truth does hurt...

Or better known as capt a's badly rewrite of history on display again. See capt a just uses selective memory of the last 50 years to make the claim that Reagan started tax and spend democrats yet capt a ignores just who it was that created trillion dollar borrow and spend republican deficits. capt a just can't resist his history rewrites because he knows history doesn't favor him nor the party he supports so he makes up his own history.
I went back and reviewed my post and the word Reagan, or any claim about Reagan, did not appear in it anywhere. Whom just gets more delusional everyday with his fairy tale stories that he creates. Hopefully , the men in the white suits will stop him from hurting himself in his padded cell.
And he continues to avoid discussing the facts...typical leftie avoidance...
