He’s never served in the military, but Tea Party freshman Rep. Joe Walsh (R-IL) is attacking his opponent, a double-amputee Iraq War vet, over her military service.
Walsh, known for not paying child support, is being challenged by Lt. Col. Tammy Duckworth, who lost both her legs in Iraq and use of her right arm in 2004 when insurgents hit her helicopter with a rocket-propelled grenade.
At a town hall in Elk Grove on Sunday, Walsh argued that Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) was reluctant to discuss his own military service as the GOP presidential nominee in 2008, which made him a "noble hero."
McCain not only talked about his service in debates and interviews during the 2008 campaign, he even ran political ads about it. But Walsh didn't let facts get in the way.
“Now I’m running against a woman who, my God, that’s all she talks about," Walsh said.
“Our true heroes, it’s the last thing in the world they talk about," Walsh continued. "That’s why we’re so indebted and in awe of what they’ve done."

There are some slimeball Republicans in D.C., but this guy is slimier than slime. I don't think they've invented a word that would perfectly describe him yet. All I can say is, I'm pretty sure he's going to burn in Hell! And I can't think of a more deserving candidate. Between not paying his back child support, being too cowardly to serve in the military, and other things like his obstructionist voting record in Congress, I am pretty sure the voters will kick hs worthless body to the curb ASAP!

The people themselves are very smart people. I can say this because I live south of his district. The main reason he even got in office is because the turnout was low in what was a very, very tight race. He knows his chances atgetting reelected are even lower than the turnout that got him in Congress. He saw his chances at reelection drop starting with the reports about his skipping out on his child support payments, and those came shortly after had nerve to question President Obama's integrity. When folks in his district heard of the child support issue they were shaking their heads and really quite embarrassed at helping to get him in office, whether through their direct vote or not turning up to vote at all. If he thought the child support story was dragging him down, or that idiotic display at one of his other town halls where he went into this angry tirade when a constituent posed a question, then this is the nail in the coffin for his going back to Congress in the new term. Those surburbanites see their mistake and are fairly ready to boot the Illinois embarrassment which is Joe Walsh out of office. And to add to the record on here, Miss Duckworth rarely brings up her military service. Most of her campaign attention against Walsh has been pointing out that he has indeed done zero for Illinois' 8th District voting against the district's best interest like being the only Illinois congressman voting against the transportation bill last week before the House recessed. The small Tea Party fringe of his district may have wanted him to do squat, but the district as a whole expected him to do his job and be a legislator working for the interests of the district not the interests of the Tea Party.
Walsh is a COWARD AND A LIAR. I live in Illinois and Tammy gets my VOTE and I want to thank her for her service before and whats she's doing now. I'm proud of her and all our sevice men and women.

This from the jackass who was skipping out on child support. It still makes my skin crawl that people from the northern burbs of my great city, an area north of town that has highly intelligent people, let themselves get so caught up in emotion and anger at congressional Democrats as to elect the village idiot. This man is an embarrassment to this state.
This story aired earlier on Hardball and got very little response, so I'm glad to see that some people are legitimately outraged by this cowardly outburst from one of the lowest forms of life on this planet--Joe Walsh. He never fails to disgrace himself or our nation. Here's a guy who never served. Never wanted to serve. And is happy to never have served. But he believes he has the right to denigrate the heroism of one of our most honorable military personnel. As a veteran and as an American, I am wholly disgusted by Walsh whose only claim to fame is that he defaulted on his mortgage so that the bank forclosed on his home. He abused his wife. He abandonned his children. He refused to pay child support for several years until his wife finally won the law suit against him. Ed just called it, he's an extremist loudmouth. The really sad part of all this is that he's not the first republican to act so disrespectfully of our veterans. Look at what the republicans did to Cleland and to Kerry. Truth is that republicans will send you to war, but when you return--if you return--they'll suffer no guilt when they disrespect your service, your reputation, your courage, and your honor. Keep in mind, too, that the Bush administration lied--and afterwards admitted that they lied--about the presence of WMDs in Iraq in order to justify a needless, immoral, and protracted invasion of that country. Those lies brought about the deaths of tens of thousands of American Citizens, the wounding and maiming of tens of thousands more, and, owing to the Bush administration's fiscal policies, plunged the USA into our nation's most severe budget deficit in history. Remember, too, that Mitt Romney received 5 draft deferments to avoid serving in the Viet Nam War. Then, he had the audacity to claim that he truly wanted to serve during the war. This man, along with these other republican, robber barron hypocrites will say anything to get elected, but once in office they'll sell our veterans down the river in a second. It's guys like Walsh and the other republicans who want to take away our veterans benefits and access to health care, all the while knowing that only ONE PERCENT of American families had to sacrifice during the decade long Afghan and Iraq wars. One Percent! The other 99% got to pass their days remaining oblivious to what was happening on the battlefield. Joe Walsh has no appreciation for those military personnel who had to do multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan because we can't get enough honorable people to enlist and defend our country. Anyone who would disrespect a hero who risked her life and lost her legs and an arm, in battle, to preserve the freedoms that this peice of garbage enjoys, isn't just an ordinary slimeball. The Tea Party is best described as a group of people whose most outstanding attribute is the fact that a 30mm high explosive shell to the head is not considered a life threatening injury. This is but another example of an American who would surrender America if it meant that he wouldn't have to serve in the military. And this is from a man who is totally opposed to the idea of having a military.
