NO! We all know the Tee Potty doesn't do anything without their marching orders from their puppet masters.
Say what happened to the first poll question?
Do Teapublicans EVER stop lying!NO!!!!
As President Obama and Congress crafted the largest national health insurance program since the creation of Medicare and Medicaid in 1965, they insist that the final product will add "not one dime" to the federal deficit.
But cost projections are notoriously unreliable, and history is filled with examples of federal programs - especially in health care - that cost far more than originally predicted.
In 1965, the House Ways and Means Committee estimated that the hospital insurance program of Medicare - the federal health care program for the elderly and disabled - would cost $9 billion by 1990. The actual cost that year was $67 billion.
In 1967, the House Ways and Means Committee said the entire Medicare program would cost $12 billion in 1990. The actual cost in 1990 was $98 billion.
This health care overhaul will bankrupt our nation and no one seems to care. History has shown it.
The pee tarty will fizzle!
DillBaby, we know the value you place on a fetus, what value do you pace on human life?
No they will not stop lying about anything that benefits the average person or President Obama. They are bought and paid for by all big money groups including the health insurance industry. Its sad very sad.
I had the same Problem xxx. The poll came up with the tea party question. Then disappeared.
Yes, Thankful Mom. Republicans will not stop lying about anything Obama does. That Limbo Fat bubble was having a baby on his show. And that hateful Hannity is another Teawingers.These people are cowards, and that Georgia congressman Gomer(t) Pyle was having fit, and that congresswoman Gean Schmidt was having convulsion! I thought she was going nuts!
@A. Hanson,
I place a lot of value on human life. I just want Americans to know that they just got the largest tax increase in American history to provide health insurance to 30+ million people. It's a huge tax on the Middle Class.
Of Course NOT - They will Never Stop Lying About ANY/EVERYTHING !!!!! GOMERS !!!!
Democratic party must print full page ad in every major news paper about the benefits of Health care law. All those lies of right wingers must be exposed. I do have to admit that I still need to know more about this law, but when I hear rightwingers go crazy, I know it has to be good for USA!
Drillbaby, I'm from MA and we started this years before President Obama became president.
Willard Romney was our governor, when he bothered to stay in MA and govern, and ACA is identical to it. Almost 100% of the Bay Staters are covered and there has been a difference. It's the one thing willard should be proud of and not running away from.
Would we prefer single payer, yes, but this is what we have now, someday maybe we'll get our wish.
As for cost sometimes we miscalculate population spurts, but if people who can't afford insurance keep going to the emergency in our hospitals the cost would be even greater.
Maybe you are a Ayn Rand type of guy and feels the poor should just die, fortunately the rest of us are better people and want the poor to receive proper health care.
Spent my afternoon rereading the part in the Bible where Jesus says I cant heal you your not in network.
Ayn Rand never said the poor should die.
so, does this plan force illegal aliens to pay their fare share, No, it does not. They work on a cash basis and go to the clinics. How does this legislation get money out of their pockets?
I said they couldn't, but the day will come when this bunch of idiots will-- when they drop dead. But there will be other idiots to take their place.
The first that should drop dead is Rush Limburger-- or is he already an animated zombie?

@Judy W.
I'm only posting History. The CBO's score of the costs of this new entitlement program were not true to begin with. They have already doubled since the first scoring. This will absolutely bankrupt our Nation. History has proven so. I'm just trying to warn the American public.
Like I tell my wife, "If it's free, it's you and me." I don't care whose going to pay for it. But it's going to be the Middle Class that is paying for this new entitlement. It's not going to be the 1%ers or the poor. Payment for this new entitlement will fall squarely on the Middle Class.
Drill I will bet you don't work in a county emergency ward. If you did you would know if people admitted and can prove there household income is below a certain amount and that amount increases with each additional household member. They get emergency treatment free, [or at a large discount depending] and where do you think that money comes from. And psychiatric emergency in particular is very popular with people of low income and the unemployed.
Drill, the real reason you, republicans and teavangelicals dislike of Obamacare, [Affordable care act] is because Obama's name is attached to it, or maybe it's the word affordable. AFFORDABLE!! sounds like something to help the poor, and a nation of the rich, by the rich, for the rich, we can't have anything like that. Even if it could actually save money.
The GOP are paid to lie by special interest groups like insuance and pharmaceutical companys. The people don't have that kind of money.
Of course NOT... LIES are all the Repugs/TEApugs have. But there are certainly NO IDEAS in those empty primitive backward thinking brains in the heads of the righties.
But I am looking forward to Pinhead O'Really admitting he's an idiot and Lush Limpbrain moving to Costa Rica.... with their REAL SOCIALIST HEALTH CARE SYSTEM.
Hey Drill... you still here spreading the wacky righty lies again today. I just posted this to you on yesterdays blog.
Swallow this Pill!
There is NO REAL mandate, it's actually a NON-mandate... because the ACA has a mandate in "word only" without any real enforcement mechanism as has been explained on numerous occasions by Lawrence O. Of course, it might be above your head or ability to understand... give the primitive brain conservatives are working with which only responds to fear mongering. But if you want to give it a try, click on the link below.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/45755883/vp/47989648#47972054
There is NO TAX INCREASE in the ACA, as there isn't even an enforceable fine. And it is certainly NOT A HUGE TAX INCREASE TO ALL AMERICANS, as you Repugs/TEApugs are currently lying about. So go spread it to the brain dead viewers at Fox... we know better over here. We are able to use the areas of our brains that reason and deal with reality... instead of just fear.
@Viewer01,
When has anything that is Government run, Affordable?' There were a lot of right wing ideas that were not taken into account like tort reform and buying insurance over state lines that were not even considered in this bill. It was truly partisan. My posts were only stating government run healthcare's history.
I'll post them again:

No they will NEVER stop lying about the Affordable Heath Care Act - they are still upset about FDR's new deal and that was over 60 years ago!
@DScully,
I thought you were going to put me on Ignore. Only posting facts and history today. No opinions.
My only question to you is, "Who do you think is going to pay for 30+ more people that are uninsured?"
@DScully,
I meant 30+ million more people.
@Drillbaby
The health insurance accross state lines will be a disaster. I know we lived in California and the health insurer was in New Jersey. I had surgery and one of the doctors was 'out of network' the insurance company forced us to pay for it in full by threatening to ruin our FICO scores if it was not paid.
Found out later that the insruance company was in the wrong but could not get the money back because they were out of state and not subject to California laws.
I had to contract my wonderful senator Barbara Boxer and she had to get my money back and force the insurance company to pay.
I could not go to court and get relief because they were 'in another state and not subject to California law.
Its easier to rip off consumers when the health insurance company is 'out of state' accross state lines.
They use an ancient Civil War law to prevent civil lawsiuts of which I am sure you consider an nusience in order to collect your money.
That is no solution. The Affordable Health Care act will make insurance companies obey the law and people like you take issue with that because you want your 'freedom' well you cannot have freedom without discipline. We need this law to 'regulate' the health insurance companies which have done nothing but rip people off...
I will believe coroprations are people when Texas executes one...
@DScully,
So, with there not being a 'real' mandate by the ACA, you're saying there is no way to pay for this? It's just going to be tacked onto the deficit?
DrillBaby#1.7 Is that you Sara? Your comment is Not True!!! The only tax will be placed on those individuals, who refuse to have health insurance. That is the fact. You are getting false information, from someone (republican) who is not concerned with your best interest.
@Ethelouise,
I'm sorry to hear of your troubles, but I believe that if it were a Federal mandate, that those types of issues would be corrected.
@GREATGRAN101,
Do you think those people that are choosing not to get insurance are the 1%ers? No, they either can't afford it or choose not to. Most of the ones that choose not to are in the Middle Class. The Middle Class will bear the cost of this new entitlement, period. Why is this so hard to comprehend?
@ Judy
Yeah.... hopefully we will all get single payer, universal, medicare for all... whatever you want to call it. I think the governor in Vermont has implemented a single payer, universal health care system. I think I also heard something about Oregon or Washington trying to set a single payer system up.... not sure though. See what ya get when you vote in reasonable and intelligent Democratic Governors rather than Repug/TEApug Governors?
All of which (Repug Govs) seem to be of the same childish and moronic thinking that they will refuse the medicaid subsidies offered in Obamacare, just to have the privilege of denying the citizens in their states those evil Obamacare Medicaid benefits. Apparently all of these idiot Repug Governors are lacking any scruples or common sense. Who are the morons voting for these idiots?
I am hoping that our current Democratic governor here in CA will get a single payer universal health plan going in our state. Of course, after 8 long years of Repug Gov Pete Wilson, then another 8 years of The Arnold... CA is in bad, bad shape.... deeply in debt and barely able to keep the lights on. It might be awhile before we are able to get a single payer health plan going.
@Drillbaby
You still don't understand. If they are in another state they are not subject to the laws of the consumer state. This is why the health insurance accross state lines will never work.
Credit card companies pulled this stunt and were sucessful in preventing people from suing in court for relief and ruined people by reporting them by dinging their FICO scores. It makes it possible for them to rip off more American people! But I am sure your in agreement with that.
@DScully,
If you had a republican house and senate in that state with a 'real' republican governor for the last few years, I'll bet you wouldn't be "barely able to keep the lights on". Red states are not in the trouble yours is in.
@Ethelouise,
Like I said, what you're saying is neither here nor there. It's not the law of the land. The Affordable HealthCare Act is. I'm saying the ACA is a huge tax on the Middle Class.
Yes drill, the ACA is paid for... President Obama and the Democrats made sure of that. They are not as irresponsible as GW Bush who started 2 wars, gave Big Pharma a big tax payer giveaway, and of course 2 sets of huge tax cuts for the rich... all added to the deficit. Or other Repug administrations... like Ronnie Raygun's, and all Repug administrations that have followed which added billions to the deficit with each administration.
And NO... the ACA will not be adding to the deficit. In fact it will decrease the deficit over the next 10 years I believe that was the finding of the Congressional Budget Office.
This will be done because of a number of things, by bringing health care costs down, providing preventative care to patients and requiring private insurance companies to actually spend their money on the health care of their insured... instead of bonuses to their CEO s and stockholders.
@Drillbaby
Its here and now. The ACA is not the gloom and doom you seem to want every body to think it is. There is no other solution this should have been done 60 years ago.
Drill
We've had 2 Repug governors for 8 years each, who caused the debt. We weren't in this terrible shape back when Jerry Brown was the governor before that.
In fact, he had to get the budget under control after that idiot Ronnie Raygun ran it up before he became president and ran up the Federal deficit.
Driiibit:Its not the monster they are telling you it is. Its all politics, just a few years ago it was a Republican idea. And look at it this way what if Romney would have won the primary in 2007 and became president (Heaven forbid) and he would have installed Romneycare nation wide you wouldn't be kicking at all. In fact it looks as if Obama took a trophy off the Republican shelf and they are a bit peeved!
What nobody seems to be answering here is "Who's going to pay for this brand new shiney entitlement that the Left loves". I say it's the Middle Class in the form of a tax if they don't comply with the health care mandate.
@DScully,
You don't seem to be interpreting what I have been saying so I'll post it again. Everyone likes a shiny new bobble until they have to pay for it. The Middle Class will be taxed to pay for this shiny new bobble.

@xxxooo,
All I'm asking is for someone to tell me who's going to pay for this brand new entitlement? All the other ones are on the verge of insolvency (Social Security, MediCare, MedicAid) and we're adding another. Who's going to pay for it? I'll give you a hint, (It's a tax on the Middle Class).
@DScully,
I have only posted history on the Affordable Care Act until now.
California has, by itself, one of the largest economies in the World. The Left has run this state into the ground. They have run the entire state into the verge of bankruptcy. Just look at cities in California filing for bankruptcy (Stockton).
Your state is a sad state of affairs for America. They had it all. They had one of the largest economies in the World and they squandered it away on stupid leftist stuff. It's really sad to see that of such a beautiful state.
The rest of the Nation will probably have to bail them out soon.
@DScully,
You said, "the ACA will not be adding to the deficit. In fact it will decrease the deficit over the next 10 years I believe that was the finding of the Congressional Budget Office."
We finally agree on something. We both agree the CBOs findings are ridiculous. If you read my post, I have been arguing that the CBOs estimates, historically, have been grossly underestimated.
Drill
Our state is in trouble for BECAUSE OF THE REPUG GOVERNORS. They created the problems, along with the Repug Moron in the White House which destroyed the economy over the last decade.
Also... every Repug Governor in other states have typically left their states in economic straits, which the next Democratic Governor has to come in an fix. T-Paw left Minnesota a fiscal mess... just as Mutt Robme left Massachusetts a mess when he left.... just as Scott Walker, Kasick, and scores of other Repug Governors will leave behind huge deficits in the states they are currently trying to sell to corporate interests.
Michigan has even had it's entire democratic form of government completely replaced by a form of totalitarianism with the Repug Governor as the Dictator.
drill
I guess if Obamacare is a socialist program, that makes Mutt Robme a socialist for creating Romneycare which Obamacare is identical to. It also makes the Repugs who initially created the same health reform plan, complete with mandates back in the 1990s socialists also.
Because Obamacare comes from those original Repug plans... and if they are not good plans, and it was the Repugs who originally thought them up. That makes Repugs ideas pieces of crap. And if the Repugs don't think the mandate is constitutional.... it was their idea in the first place, which means their idea of a mandate was unconstitutional.
That is the most ridiculous thing, is that everything you and your hypocritical Repug leaders are complaining about are ALL YOUR OWN IDEAS. So everything you have to say about Obama and the Dems, can all be directly traced right back to the Repug doorstep. That shows what ridiculous hypocrites Repugnicans all are.
You've been given the facts which I realize are never of much import to backward thinking Repugs... so you can continue in your own world of distortion and lies. That seems to be where you feel safe, and you don't really have to deal with the truth. So go tell your lies to your own kind... you are just wasting our time here.
Talking to you is like hitting my head against a brick wall and about as productive. The ignorant choose to remain so, and I'm tired of having a battle of wits with an unarmed person. Nothing logical or rational can penetrate the primitive brain of conservatives.
@xxx ooo
I'm not sure if any reason can penetrate the thick skull of drill. The majority of the GOP have decided not to accept any truth that might be handed down by Dems... as they are being currently led by the biggest jackasses living on earth. The leaders they choose to follow are those with the least intelligence and knowledge of anyone on the planet such as Sarah Palin & Lush Limpbrain. Good grief.... it's a wonder they have survived so long.... with the deluded thinking and in complete absence of reality.
You deserve a metal for trying so hard! Indeed we dodged a bullet in 2008! We gotta get out the vote this time the Kochsuckers are giving it their all and so must we! This Saturday is the last day to add money to the campaign so pay now or PAY LATTER!
Good night...
@xxx ooo
Yep... the Kochs are busy trying to buy elections all over the country, and all to fulfill their own selfish greedy purposes. These hateful @!$%#s are destined for HELL.
This recent poll by The Strategic Counsel surveyed both Canadians and Americans.
When it came to health care, 45 per cent of Americans felt Canada had a superior system, while 42 of Americans per cent thought the United States should stick with its own. 13% of Americans had no opinion.
Meanwhile, the vast majority of Canadians, 91 per cent, felt that Canada's health care system was better than that of the United States. 3 per cent of Canadians felt that the American system was better. 6% of Canadians had no opinion.
Scully,etal
The ACA has a multitude of new taxes in it. google “CBS news health care ruling what it means for you.” Its on their June 28th update.
For those of you who haven't taken the time to read the thing here is a partial list of all the new (21 total) taxes in the act to finance the cost.
2.5% tax on income of anyone not purchasing insurance by 2014.
Increase in Medicare payroll tax on incomes over $250,000
Additional 3.8% tax on unearned income including capital gains taxes, dividend income, sale of your house, etc.
a multitude of new taxes and fees on insurance companies, pharmacutical companies, device manufacturers and drug makers. These new taxes estimated to be over $30 billion will of course be passed on to the consumer.
and my personal favorite 10% tax on tanning salons
These new taxes will hit the middle class hardest. Particularly the 2.5% penalty tax for those that don't buy the mandated insurance.
@DScully,
I don't care where the idea came from, Republicans, Democrats, Independents, Socialists, Communists, Conservatives, Aliens, Catholics, Lutherans, Atheists, Rich, Poor, Black, White, Latino, Men, Women, etc.
I just want to know, who's going to pay for this shiny new bobble? Since you're not going to say it, I will. The Magic HeathCare Fairies won't pay for it. The Middle Class will get taxed to pay for this.
The CBO has already doubled the cost of implementation of the ACA from their initial cost. It will not pay for itself. It will bankrupt this country.
Put me on Ignore if you don't want to hear the truth.
@DScully,
Governors can only do so much. Spending is controlled by the State Legislature. All the States with Dems in the Legislature are in trouble. T-Paw had a Democratic Legislature and they are the ones that put my state into a fiscal mess. We now have a Republican Legislature and are doing fine now.
How's that democratically controlled legislature working for you out there in CA? Need that bailout yet?
LOL, I love watching the right wingers cry about this. They can lie and cry all they want, but all they are doing is making themselves pathetically irrelevant.
@abolish taxes,
Who's going to pay for this? We are insuring 30+ million more people and you want to abolish taxes? Do you think Magic HeathCare Fairies will rain $100 bills on the American public?
No, the rich won't pay for this and the poor won't. The Middle Class will. You got the Government you voted for. You voted for a Community Organizer with no Executive experience. Look at where we are.
@John Murphy,
Then why do Canadian politicians fly to Miami to get heart surgery?
AFED I had no idea you wanted to darken your skin so bad! Also after you get skin cancer of course the insurance companies will pass on the cost to the consumer. I guess this makes the Norquist pledge a moot point! And your hero a week ago is now your nemesis!
Not crying just stating facts. Fortunately this country is still a republic and in November the people will decide if they want the current administration's policies to continue. Not the 30 or 40 bloggers on this site.
LOL, they are so easily distracted. Ever heard of irony, DrillBaby? Ya know, like calling the fat guy slim? You see my name is as it is for the benefit of people like you who want to jump on someone's name. Where did i say I wanted to abolish taxes? And yes, we as a nation will save money with the ACA. We'll save even more money with single payer. But go on your rants. It's hilarious to me to see people like you have a conniption fit over this issue, and it's even funnier to watch the GOP flail about over it and make themsleves completely irrelevant on the issue of health care in this nation. Their lack of empathy and reason is their downfall.
@abolish taxes,
I have history on my side.
Will Obama ever tell the truth about it.
DrillBaby....
The republicans did a number on California. I remember California having a healthy surplus. It was under Pet Willson that the power companies were deregulated. That let in companies like Enron to game the system and drive prices for energy sky high. But by then Pet Willson was out of office and Gray Davis was put in the position of having to keep the power on. California was being held up big time by companies like Enron who were gaming the system. Mean while president Bush told Gray Davis that it was a Calif problem. It wasn't until the balance of power changed in the Senate that Calif got any co-operation from washington. Our surplus was being used up, stollen, to keep the lights on, and everything in the state with power. Bushes good buddy CEO, Kenneth Lay, at Enron had put us in the dark and in the hole. Of course Gray Davis being forced by circumstances, caused by the republican agenda to deregulate, needed to raise money with a tax.... On vehicles I believe. The people just didn't connect the dots back to deregulation of the power industry, the theft of our surplus was enabled by the republicans. Yes they did a number on us..... Shame! I remember paying skyrocketing utility the bills. That's when I found out what the republicans would do for you. It's a listen to keep in mind.
That is a small price to pay for ensuring the health of our citizens, DrillBaby. Now, what would be the cost for health care for the elderly and disabled without Medicare????
I should say Pet Willson was a republican governor. I should add what happened was just a preview of what they do later to the country, the global economy with there agenda of deregulation .... Remember the deregulation of the banks... the problems with credit default swaps, CDO's and bundling junk mortgages, rating them as AAA then selling them to all, even to foreign counties as good investments. The Republicans have done enough to us. Seems like they have been taken over by organized crime... the Republican Mob?
I have Drillbigbaby on ignore, but I see all the collapsed comments. Why are you guys bothering to give him the facts? He's not here for that!
Ethelouise, it is nice of you to try to reason with him, but sweetie, I have a 14 lb. cat on my lap right now which you'd have more success with! LOL
India LaCarre.... Drillbaby was blaming California's monetary hole on liberals. Propagating their portrait of a "nanny state" just squandering money, "their" tax dollars, on good for nothing citizens... covering up the truth, with their spin. That can't be ignored. That's how they rewrite history, and fool people into voting against their own best interests. We have to meet each of their lies and spin with the truth. We have to connect the dotes and keep them connected. But first we have to know what yarn they are spinning. We have to get the truth out there, so people will have a chance of making sound judgements. Failure of citizens to connect the dots is how we end up with Romney.
Will Republicans ever stop lying, period?
Hi, Sheryl, Thanks for the nice response. Trust me, I know their rants, spins, and lies real well. I am tired of them. I mean, it was entirely predictable that they would have a conniption over their loss. I read WHAT'S THE MATTER WITH KANSAS BY TOMMY FRANK years ago where he explained how this extreme right took over that state and how they left it a disaster, getting people to vote against their own best interests. It is one of the best books ever written on the right wing take over. I am now reading DO NOT ASK WHAT GOOD WE DO, by Draper. It is all about the new freshmen congress.
Bottom line, it's a corporate takeover and congress is getting paid to screw us. They are a bunch of whacky ideologues which the T-party put in place. They despise Obama. From day one, their plan was to destroy him. The fact that he has done so well against this onslaught is proof of what a good leader he is.
The main thing is, Obama is brilliant. They aren't. If it weren't for all the Koch and Trump money, they'd be a bad joke. Fox news and Limbaugh push their crazy agenda and lie about everything Obama and the Democrats do. This will get worse as we near November. You can see this in the rise of the lying trolls.
I see Republicans as domestic enemies. I will never stop fighting for the Democrat's side. These people are a real threat and MUST BE STOPPED before we have a corporate Oligarchy led by a corporate raider whose policies (which they are feeding him) will ruin us.
He is a Wall Street toady, a puppet of the corporations. His job will be to usher in a new world order. This is their plan.
If they take over, God help us. They sure won't.
We won't like it. No one making under a million a year will like it. Most of those who vote for the GOP will not like it and will bitterly regret it. He will throw them under the bus with the rest of us.
Republicans love saying "who's going to pay for this?" during a Democratic administration, because they never say it during a Republican one.
Cheney to Treasury: "Deficits don't matter"
Former Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill was told "deficits don't matter" when he warned of a looming fiscal crisis.
O'Neill, fired in a shakeup of Bush's economic team in December 2002, raised objections to a new round of tax cuts and said the president balked at his more aggressive plan to combat corporate crime after a string of accounting scandals because of opposition from "the corporate crowd," a key constituency.
O'Neill said he tried to warn Vice President Dick Cheney that growing budget deficits-expected to top $500 billion this fiscal year alone-posed a threat to the economy. Cheney cut him off. "You know, Paul, Reagan proved deficits don't matter," he said, according to excerpts. Cheney continued: "We won the midterms (congressional elections). This is our due." A month later, Cheney told the Treasury secretary he was fired.

@Sheryl voter age 64 and DScully,
The Democrats have controlled both houses of the California assembly every year since 1970 except for 1995 and 1996. Since it is the Legislature that controls the State budgets, I'd say that the blame for California's fiscal crisis lies squarely on the backs of Democrats. Democrats controlled the state for 50 of the last 52 years and your blaming Republicans?
I am not rewriting history here. Go look it up for yourself. You can't blame Governors for state deficits any more than you can blame the President for all the US deficit spending. You have to look at who controls the State Legislature and Congress. They are the ones that create the budgets. The Governors and Presidents can only sign or veto what the Legislature or Congress hands them.
@Sheryl voter age 64 and DScully,
I meant Democrats controlled the California assembly 40 of the last 42 years and you want to blame Republicans for California's fiscal mess? That's upsurd and hardly worth commenting on.
You should look your own party in the face and ask them why they squandered away one of the World's top economies and have turned it into the fiscal mess it's in today. Beautiful state, but glad I don't live there. What a fiscal mess.
@TheRealChris,
You're talking to the wrong Republican. I screamed at GWB with the deficits he was running up. I'm all for repeal of the Bush Tax Cuts for everyone. You can't just say it was wrong for one class of people and not another. Those tax levels led to the last balanced buget in the Federal government.
The Middle Class will get taxed to pay for this.
The CBO has already doubled the cost of implementation of the ACA from their initial cost. It will not pay for itself. It will bankrupt this country.
I don't care what Cheney said or anyone else in the Bush Administration. They are ancient history and should not be held up as a reason to repeat the wrongs of the past. Deficits do matter, period.
DrillBaby...... Your spin won't work.
Pete Willson governor from 1991 to 1999. Even you admit the republicans were in charge then.
"Wilson was the driving force behind the 1996 legislation that deregulated the state's energy market, which was the first energy utilities deregulation in the U.S. and aggressively pushed by companies such as Enron" check it here:Â http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pete_Wilson
The Republicans skewed up California's economy! Then they did the same to the American economy, and it overflowed to the Global economy. Good Job... Puppets
To answer Ed's question: NO.. They now believe if they say their lies and spin enough it will somehow become true. We have to keep them honest.
@Sheryl voter age 64,
The Republicans were is charge of the Legislature in California for 2 of the last 42 years, in 1995 and 1996. I'm sorry you are in denial but the Democrats destroyed your state period. The Democrats for 40 of the last 42 years were in charge of the state's budget and have squandered away one of the biggest economies in the World. Now, as it looks, the rest of the Nation is going to have to bail them out. It's sad beyond belief. Nice job Democrats.
Who will pay for the health care bill? I mean, someone has to.
DrillBaby... Check the dates carefully.
"Wilson was the driving force behind the 1996 legislation that deregulated the state's energy market, which was the first energy utilities deregulation in the U.S. and aggressively pushed by companies such as Enron" check it here:Â http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pete_Wilson
See the date of the legislation that deregulated the state's energy market. It was in 1996... when the Republicans were in charge......
Come on own up to it. The Republicans have had deregulation, tort reform, downsizing the social safety net on their agenda, along time. Their agenda has done a lot of damage to our state, our country, and beyond. These Republicans are so owned by the very rich and influential, that they will take us right back to fulfilling their agenda that created the mess in the first place.
Those wealthy at the top, gaming our economic system, made a lot while encouraging the working class to subsidize their stagnate wages with housing bubble feed credit..... At least until the bubble burst. All the wealth is at the top, and they just can't get enough. We arn't going away, even if you republicans get your way on your greedy agenda. Might be a lot of very angry people though.
Sheryl- I would recommend you read the book "Boomerang" by Michael Lewis. Whole chapter on CA
Rusty.... Just checked and I have a sample of that book already downloaded. Have about 66 book samples downloaded to Investigate. Just haven't gotten to them all yet. LOL
I learn a lot by watching the stock market channels believe it or not... Bloomberg, CNBC.... Politics caught my interest when Bush was elected so questionably. Then all that happened with California and the power grid. Got curiosity going. Found I could get info from other sources, even other foreign news media. Got a pretty good glimpse of the republican agenda when watching Allen Green Span testifying before congressional committees on C-span.
I was watching the market in March of 2008 when Bear Stearns first showed signs of trouble. You know... I had this funny feeling that it would be a good time to cash out of the market for awhile.....
Bush did get their tort reform and later funneled the surplus to the wealthy as tax cuts. So glad he failed to privatize Social Security. It's a bigger part of our retirement income then we had thought that it would be. Hits to it or to Medicare would really hurt, and I feel we are better off then many who also worked hard and saved.... Wish they could find a cure for GREED.
Greed is part of the American Spirit. It's why people work overtime, put charges on credit, buy a little larger house than is necessary, buy an electronic gizmo that has an app that will wipe your nose, etc. If we were all satisified to drive a 15 year old car and live in a bungalow where we had 2 less bedrooms than kids, we all might be happier in the long run- but I'm not for sure how we could make that a reality? Even if we were able to convince people they didn't need that next raise, there would always be that one person (like me), who would want to do something extra to get ahead. Then others would see it and start the cycle over again. Capitalism doesn't work without greed.
Rusty.... Greed is not virtuous. I am concerned how hardened and selfish attitudes have become.Â
Greed is what makes people become union members, go into the management training program, cross the border into the USA, try to get a house cheap in order to flip it, drive a Toyota instead of a Yugo, etc. Biblically speaking, it s not virtuous. But greed times 300 million people equals a capitalistic system.
Rusty.... I've heard some on CNBC defending Greed. Actually say "Greed is good". How slimmy. Seems these Wall Streeters believe in it, at the expence of others. It's still not a virtue. There is no Honor in Greed.
Hypocrisy is runs rampant too..... That's why we need checks and balances in our government's system. You can't put the wolf in charge of watching the hen house..... And never put Romney in the white House.
We need fewer republicans in both houses of the congress to bring back common decency and fare representation.
It's to bad the Republican's stand for the Greedy at the top. They have no Honor.
We need checks and balances everywhere. That's what protects each of us greedy people from each other.
I believe it was John L. Lewis, in tetimony in front of Congress, when asked what he would negotiate for once they had evrything- he said "More". And he was a democrat.
@A Fed
Oh my.... there are taxes paying for the ACA?! Of course there are... that is how things usually are paid for in this and every other country. It's only the idiot Repugs who think taxes are something that is not necessary to run a country and provide for the many programs, services and conveniences we enjoy as a society...such as roads and bridges, schools, parks, libraries, etc. etc. etc.
Yes... this is the PENALTY assessed under the mandate, and it doesn't apply to everyone... as the Repugs have been lying and spreading their usual misinformation about. It only applies to the "free riders" who won't pay for insurance even if they can afford it.... which by the way WAS A REPUG IDEA.
President Obama didn't originally want a mandate and it was only added AS ONE OF HIS MANY BI-PARTISAN ATTEMPTS TO INCLUDE REPUG IDEAS IN THE ACA LEGISLATION. Which makes it extremely ridiculous as well as hypocritical that the Repugs chose the MANDATE TO CALL UNCONSTITUTIONAL AND BRING THEIR LAWSUIT... as it was their damn idea. More on this mandate farther down....
Oh yes.... the additional taxes on the millionaires who have been excused from paying their fair share of taxes for the past 12 years, thanks to the Bush tax cuts. And extra taxes for the private insurance and drug companies raking in the profits by overcharging for their middle man services and over priced drugs for decades.
BOOHOO.... we are all crying for the poor millionaires LIKE MUTT ROBME who are barely able to run their millions of dollars together to make ends meet. How are they ever going to make it if they actually have to start paying their fair share of taxes now. If you detect some sarcasm, you would be right. Meanwhile there are the rest of us who are trying to run our 2 cents together making ends meet, and making every dollar stretch as far as possible.
Oh yes... John of Orange is having to pay a little more for his orange glow. BOOHOO! Poor John Bonehead.
Actually.... no, the middle class won't be hit the hardest.... save those few like the tanning mom who like to keep their skin nice and leathery. And those who refuse to buy insurance that don't already have it through their work... will be susceptible to the mandate... except....
Wait a minute... there isn't really a way to enforce that penalty in the ACA. It was left out purposely... thanks to the liberals and progressives in the Congress and Senate. So for those people who want to get away with not paying for insurance.... they can thank the progressive and liberal Dems for that.
So Fed... I've shot down all of your stupid arguments and hypocrisy. Any other ridiculous lies you want to try and pedal here? We are not as stupid as the viewers of Fox and Flunkies... so we don't fall for the lies and misinformation of the Repug talking points.
@Sheryl
Exactly correct.... the Repugs ran the great state of California into the worst deficit situation since Ronnie Raygun did his number on it. (And I've already given drill the riot act on that... though his skull is too thick to process the info) Anyway... Jerry Brown brought the state back after Ronnie Rayguns disastrous run, and hopefully he'll be able to do the job again after Pete Wilson and The Arnold ran it into a big ditch. But it's in way worse shape now than the first time around.
We all know that Repugs budgetary skills are worth crap.... since they all adhere to Ronnie's old plan... VOODOO/TRICKLE DOWN OR IS IT UP... ECONOMICS. The Repugs always say that government doesn't work.... THEN THEY GET IN OFFICE AND PROVE IT.
It's funny that government does work and run much smoother when Democrats are in charge in White House, Senate and Congress. We got a lot more done when Dems and Pelosi ran the House. Of course, still obstruction in the Senate due to Turtleman McConnell.
We need to get him and other Repugs/TEApugs out of government, so we can get some thing done. Here in California.... we need to do some housecleaning also... like boot Darrell Issa and other idiot Repugs out of House seats. They've gummed up the works for too long.
@India
I have drill on ignore also... but sometimes I open a comment to see what stupid things he's saying... and GET SUCKED IN! I need to remember not to do that, since trying to talk reason and logic with him is POINTLESS. He seems to have a problem with "skullis thickitis" or thick skull syndrome... and facts just bounce off.
That's a riot. The individual mandate wasn't wanted by Obama. That the Left has made it unenforceable, and is taking credit for leaving enforcement out. Yet they argue that the individual mandate is the only thing that makes the whole package feasible?
To understand Scully- he claims the progressives, who assert the mandate is absolutely essential to making the plan work, made the mandate unenforceable intentionally. Scully is actually claiming the plan is doomed to fail by these arguments. It may be the first time we've agreed on anything...
Rusty
I realize you don't really care for the truth... and you are simply here to pose idiotic questions, but.... the health reform will be paid for by a number of things, such as tax money obtained when the Bush tax cuts expire and the rich finally have to start paying their fair share and the money people pay into the insurance system itself.
Of course, the insurance companies have many new rules they have to live by like...
1. actually paying for the health care people need instead of denying them coverage.
2. not discriminating against people with pre-existing conditions
3. no lifetime limits in coverage
4. paying for all medications for seniors by eliminating donut hole Bush's Big Pharma deal left
and many more.
The ACA is actually more of a private insurance reform bill, than an health reform bill... it's a consumer protection bill against the greed and unethical practices of the insurance companies.
Rusty
You can go back to any of Obama's speeches or debates with Hillary Clinton during the 2008 election in which he says he does not agree with a mandate. That was the only thing he and Hillary did not agree on. So the mandate was added to Obamacare as a GOP inclusion.
The best explanation of the mandate, or actually the NON-mandate... because the ACA has a mandate in "word only" without any real enforcement mechanism has been done a numerous occasions by Lawrence O.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/45755883/vp/47989648#47972054
So there isn't even an enforceable fine in the mandate, much less A HUGE TAX INCREASE as your right-wing nut loonies have been ranting and lying about.
So you are WRONG AGAIN... and by the way, I'm not a HE. I might add that joining a union has nothing to do with greed and you obviously got that stupid idea from your right wing nut talking points handed out on the Fox propaganda network, as usual. Go pedal it over there to the brain dead goofballs at Fox.... they'll believe anything.
@Sheryl
The only ones that believe GREED IS GOOD are the Gordon Gekos of the world, who are mainly found among those on Wall Street, at the heads of corporations such as CEO (the Kochs being a perfect example) and stockholders... and oh yeah... in the GOP among the governmental representatives and their Presidential candidate... the very essence of GOP corporate greed and self serving ideals.
Don't get me wrong, Scully- I'm actually laughing at the stupidity of you assertations and how they go together. Not at you personally.
Obama argued in front od the Supreme Court that the mandate was critical for the law to work. And you argue it isn't even enforceable. You are basically saying that Congress lied to us- not that Republicans are lying about the tax, or penalty (as Democrats would like to call it). So they sold it to us as one thing- and you are claiming Team Obama and the Libs in Congress are lying to us. You either have a refreshing argument syaing the Democrats are lying through their teeth, or about the dumbest arguement ever invented. Either way, not for sure it is something for liberals to be proud of.
So- riddle me this- If there is no actual mandate as you insist, an the Democrats in Congress have been lying to us, then what would keep a person to wait until he or she needs medical care to buy insurance? And then, what in the plan as you see it allows cost to be spread to make the existing conditions elements affordable? I'll save you the time by answering "nothing".
Geesh- a lib who is arguing both sides of the coin is not exactly new, but you've taken it to a new art form...
Oh- Scully- Guess I never thought of someone joining a Union just because they enjoyed an occaisional pot luck picnic. Figured they were actually joining either because they had to or because they thought they could get more in the form of wages, benefits, opportunities, etc.
The latter is pretty much called greed.
Scully- it's been a day and I've asked on Ed's other blogs if any of those libs have heard that Obama has allowed the tax to be a non-issue by not putting forth a collection plan- when they get asked this question- it seems to dry up the conversation real quick. I would suggest you are either getting some rally bad information or that you are intentionally... well, let's just assume you heard someone who didn't know what they were talking about and you just bought into it hook-line-and sinker. When you here something that stupid- you should question it.
not only hell no, but HELL NO!!!
They switched poll titles.....some republicans are very happy with the health care. It is just the right wing nut jobs that have a problem with it, because the only thing they know, is it belongs to OBAMA. They hate that.
They don't how not to lie and twist. The more obama accomplishes the more hateful they get.
kv6707: I wrote Boehner about a year ago and told him to split from the Tee Potty because if they didn't it would be the end of the Republican party....I guess is the end for them.
Hope so, xo. How much more desperate can they get.
p.s. Did he write back? ha.
Yes:They'll have to in 2014 when still President Obama put's the AHCA fully in motion and people love it.
kv6707: Does Bigfoot shave?
don't know, haven't seen him lately.
@kv6707
The real test will be next week when instead of voting on President Obama's jobs bill they will vote to 'repeal' the Affordable Health care act which will be more hysterical theatrics because it will get shot down in the Senate, but it will not stop the bloviating on the 'lobbied' evening news...
Ethelouise, you're right. Haven't heard any of them talk about jobs all week. They don't seem to be able to multi-task. Sad.
@kv6707
That's why I truly believe that republicans do not want a working economy they are doing their very level best to destroy the economy to steal our pensions, 401K's, equity in our homes, social security and medicare.
They keep calling this 'entitlements' they forget we have to pay into this by law. We have every right to collect. Regardless of how they feel about it.
Right again.
Hi Ethelouise and kv
Nope.... the Repugs haven't done a thing with the Jobs bill, nor the roads bill, nor the bill to keep interest rates lower on student loans. And I think both the roads bill and the interest rates bill expire today, at least that's what I heard.
Instead the Repugs are only interested in a sham vote to hold the AG in contempt and to yet another one to repeal Obamacare. Both are a waste of time and won't go anywhere beyond the House vote. It's a circus of redundancy and futility but certainly not worthwhile or beneficial.
DScully, The bill they just passed to keep the student loan interest low was a farce. Hidden in it are items which take away more from students than they gave them. Someone more internet savvy than me may be able to link up what they actually took away. I heard it on NPR this morning, but wasn't awake enough to get the source.
@DScully,
great posts all above.
xxx ooo
No, don't have to go to a tanning salon, naturally tan with the great weather down here in the South. But Boehner and Pelosi with their "natural tans" will contribute their 10%. Pelosi should really stay away from tanning, saw her on meet the press, she's looking more and more like the cryptkeeper.
@India
Oh really? I heard they finally got off their asses and voted on the bill to keep student interest rates low, but I hadn't heard anything about them taking things away. Though it doesn't surprise me at all.... since they always try to add on irrelevant items that help out corporations or the rich, or take away things that are important to Dems.
For example, for awhile the Repugs were saying they would only keep the interest rates lower for students, if they could defund women's health care to pay for it. These Repugs are first class @!$%#s who only care about the rich corporate interests who have bought and paid for them.
@suzette
Thanks.
@A Fed
It is evident that John Bonehead/John of Orange uses tanning facilities or possibly a self-tanner, based on the orange tint to his skin. But what makes you think Nancy Pelosi does any tanning? She doesn't appear to be any more tan than most people of her ethnic persuasion of which I am one.
She is Italian, as am I and those of us whose ancestry comes from the Mediterranean area generally have an oliveish tint or pigment to our skin. This makes us appear more tan than more fair skinned people, and we also gain color more easily even when we are exposed to sun for only brief periods of time. That might be where your confusion is coming from.
But I also saw Pelosi on Meet the Press, and she appeared quite appropriate and frankly quite attractive for a woman of her age. So your crypt keeper remark is a load of crap. I'm thinking that your appearance possibly resembles a TROLL.
You folks better get these facts on student loans in front of Obama pretty quick because rumor has it that he will sign it at a ceremony on Friday. I can't believe he would proclaim it as good if he knew what you folks know...

In 2003 Bush invaded the wrong country looking for weapons of mass destrution that did not exisit and said that the 'oil' would pay for the war...
Plus all horrible tax cuts that adding to the deficeit and you are complaining because of health care?
I would rather my considerable amount of taxes I pay each and every year to go to health care than I would war.
@Ethelouise,
I don't believe that Bush ever said the oil would pay for the war, but that's neither here nor there. Have you been to the pump lately?
Anyway, this new entitlement will surely bankrupt this country. They already have to rob Medicare to pay for it to the tune of $500 billion dollars. My only question to you Ethelouise, and those who think this is such a good idea is, "Who's going to pay for it?"
I'll give you a hint. It's the Middle Class.
@Drillbaby
Bush did indeed say the oil from Iraq will pay for the war. He invaded the wrong country and put it on the credit card and you claim that its neither here nor there. Yet you are upset because the Affordable health care act is a 'tax' the biggest tax on the country?
You are a big hipocrite. How could you justify Bush costing us a boatload of money yet critisze Obama for doing something for health care that should have been done 60 years ago. Is it because Obama's black?
I would much rather pay for health care than I would anohter useless war.
@Ethelouise,
I would really like a legitimate post from anyone that claims GWB said oil would pay for the war in Iraq, but that's neither here nor there.
@Ethelouise,
You don't seem to get it. The CBO scoring of the ACA has more than doubled from it's original estimate. All you have to do is look at history to know this shiny new entitlement will bankrupt our nation.
In 1965, the House Ways and Means Committee estimated that the hospital insurance program of Medicare - the federal health care program for the elderly and disabled - would cost $9 billion by 1990. The actual cost that year was $67 billion.

http://democrats.senate.gov/2012/06/29/reid-supreme-court%e2%80%99s-decision-a-true-victory-for-the-american-people/
from the senate dems..
@follow the money,
What Harry Reid should have said is, "We're going to tax the heck out of the Middle Class to pay for the 30+ million people that are not insured."
Maybe you,
should see the Affordable Care Act?
here:
http://www.whitehouse.gov/healthreform
read on, and learn. peace to all*
A few things from the affordable care act:
http://democrats.senate.gov/2012/06/29/reid-supreme-court%e2%80%99s-decision-a-true-victory-for-the-american-people/:
"Since President Obama signed the affordable care act into law, more than 6 million young people have signed up for their parents' health plans.
Because children can now stay on their parent's insurance until they're 26, no young person will have to defer his or her dreams to take a jobthat offers insurance.
Since health reform took effect, 5 million seniors have already saved about $600 each on prescription drugs. Millions more have gotten free wellness checks and cancer screenings.
That means millions of seniors have more money in their pockets for food, gas and the electric bill.
And hundreds of thousands of businesses that already offer their employees health insurance are getting tax credits for doing the right thing.
Since Congress passed this law, insurance companies can no longer put profits ahead of people.
They can no longer discriminate against children with preexisting conditions.
They can no longer raise your rates for no reason.
They can no longer drop your coverage if you get sick.
Millions of Americans are already seeing the benefits of this law.
And soon, 30 million more who can't afford health insurance will have access to reasonably priced insurance and quality care.
Here's how it works, Each state will set up its own health insurance marketplace, called an exchange, which will offer a menu from which people can choose.
Once these exchanges are in place, insurance companies will no longer be able to discriminate against any American with a preexisting condition.
They won't be able to deny you insurance because you're sick.
They won't be able to charge you more just because you're a woman or because you don't already have insurance.
And if you can't afford the premiums, you'll get a tax credit to help pay them.
But what if you're one of the 250 million Americans who already have insurance? Nothing will change.
Nothing will change except that you'll no longer have to worry about that if you lose your job, you'll lose your insurance.
Nothing will change except that if you get cancer or have a stroke, your insurance company wont be allowed to deny life-saving care because you reach some arbitrary lifetime cap.
Nothing will change except that your checkups and preventative care will be free--a provision that's already helped 54 million Americans with private insurance.
You'll be able to keep your planand keep your doctor. But now you-not the insurance company-will be in control."
http://democrats.senate.gov/2012/06/29/reid-supreme-court%e2%80%99s-decision-a-true-victory-for-the-american-people/
@follow the money,
I am asking a simple question and nobody here can or wants to answer it. Who's going to pay for the ACA? Who's going to pay for this brand new entitlement? Will it be the Middle Class through the largest tax increase in US history?
drill,
we know how you feel about it. you don't want to pay for anyone elses health care, especially birth control for women.
i feel we are all in this together for the common good of all. repubs only care about a fetus, not even a mother who might die while giving birth.
despite what repubs tell us, people in mass., overall, like "romneycare". people in canada, overall, like their health care.
repubs thought the individual mandate was a good idea until President Obama put it on the table to get votes from repubs. but repubs dug in their heels per their agreement, their promise, their pledge to each other to say "NO" to everything President Obama wants.
if, like President Obama, w. bush would have initiated health care reform, democrats would never have damned it, called it unconstitutional and sent it to the supreme court. i am slackjawed that they are now criticizing their own idea, acting as if they have never heard of it, and still promising to "repeal". they have done this with other repub ideas that President Obama has tried to bring to a vote, (dream act-Durbin, hatch).
i guess we should just let people die, except for a fetus of course.
@suzette,
I don't care where the idea came from, Republicans, Democrats, Independents, Socialists, Communists, Conservatives, Aliens, Catholics, Lutherans, Atheists, Rich, Poor, Black, White, Latino, Men, Women, etc.
As President Obama and Congress crafted the largest national health insurance program since the creation of Medicare and Medicaid in 1965, they insist that the final product will add "not one dime" to the federal deficit.

@suzette,
President Obama when he was an Illinois Senator was the only Senator to vote to deny a baby that was born alive due a botched abortion, healthcare. He said it would, 'circumvent the reason the woman came in in the first place.' Funny how a guy that votes present on almost everything would take a stance on that issue. I was wrong about this President. He's not for healthcare for everyone.
(a) Yes but you are not paying for either of these things. Tax revenues (even without Bush tax cuts) don't come close to paying for any of it. We're borrowing money to do both. Obamacare is going to cost twice as much as was originally projected.
(b) Don't look now but Syria is going to be the next place we intervene militarily, so both of these things will be on the books before long. We can't afford it but that doesn't seem to matter to anyone.
Drill- you, me, Suzette, Ethyl (assuming we are all employed) will pay for Obamacare. It will necessarily go deep into the middle class, just by the magnitude of it. There won't nearly be enough rich folk.
Geesh- throw a little reality into the conversation and it's like having a piece of feces in the punch bowl. Liberals just don't know how to answer...
Ad Hominem attack (koala spits!).
not really- it's just that a lot of libs on these sites toss out goofiness like it is on sale at Walmart. Once you throw a tad bit of reality their way- the discussion tends to dry up.
No. They
No. Repubs will continue to lie to the people about Obamacare. It will be the Democrats who must have a strategy that will identify what repubs are lying and what is the actual truth. Hope some day we will make a law that lying during campaigning is crime.
on lying.........hey, remember this one??: "GOP Goes For Broke Defending Treason"....from 2005..here:
http://www.buzzflash.com/editorial/05/07/edi05058.html
lie enough about something, it becomes the truth...no matter how outrageous the lie, keep on repeating it, and it becomes the truth.
Another one sided question
let me say this now HATERS READ THE THE HEALTH CARE LAW AGAIN. why can't everybody have health care. it won't even effect you one bit. quit being obama haters.
Better yet shut off fnc and read the ACA again. I don't know if Drillbay is a Christian, he certainly doesn't post like one as Jesus used to help the sick and crippled with loving kindness.
Why can't the Evangelicals be more like a true Christian? Like Jesus?
Billie, these " haters" have to have someone & something to HATE. With Obama they have at least 2 things to hate 1. he is a Democrat; 2. he is black! Egads -- they sure don't seem to need much more, do they?
@Judy W
Drillbaby cannot be a Chriatian. If he were Jesus he would have figured out how to make money first before he 'healed' anybody.
Billie- do you think the mandate is necessary?
The Health care act could not be easier to understand than this. http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=youtube+healthcare+video&mid=6D1EC367DAE7CB6493E36D1EC367DAE7CB6493E3&view=detail&FORM=VIRE3
yes mom, but the problem with all these jack asses is they don't want to understand or read this law because obama's name is on it. if we start calling it AFFORDABLE HEALTH CARE ACT it will start to sound better to them.
They have two big missions now in the T-party congress. Keep spinning and lying that the mandate raises taxes on the middle class and their second mission is to repeal it.
There is a third thing they are after now with a vengeance, they want a majority of GOP T-party in the Senate and to keep the ones in the House.
If they get this, the ACA will be repealed and all safety nets, which sustained us in America for decades, will be thrown out. They promise to do this and if they get the power, they will do this.
People need to remember to vote a straight Democrat ticket or they could overtake the House and Senate and that would be the end of the country as we have known it.
Mom, snazzy and informative video. I will share it! The "pay" discussion seems like a lot of collecting, but if I understand it-the insurance companies signed off on this law, yes?
Republicans will never stop lying about the healh care because they hate it
Is the Pope Mormon? Does Willard answer questions?Is the Tee Potty a real party? NO HELL NO!

I don't know if they even know what truth is. It seems that if they are comfortable with a lie they are happy to spread it around.
If anyone tries to show them the facts they shut down and will ignore it.
All the republicans know how to do is LIE. I got to the point to where I will NEVER believe them on anything no matter how true it is.But then that's why I get my news source from at least 8 different networks just to see if they are telling the truth or not.
and c-span 1 2 and 3
Just following the Presidents lead on lying. He has it down to an art! How do you know obama is lying? ---His teleprompter is turned on.
Problem... I was one of the first to answer the poll, then when I tried to get to the Comments, the page went wonky, then came back with a different question, requiring the opposite answer, but it won't let me change my vote... Then, it went wonky again, and told me the Comments page didn't exist... I had to reload Ed's blog to get here...
Wake Up, STAFF!
@David M Johnston
I had issues too. Good to see you, glad you made it.
No! The Repubs. should be quarantined until they learn some civility. Until they can debate an issue with thought and honesty, they should be shunned. It helps no one when you give attention to, or give into spoiled child like behavior, it only makes them worse.
You must be talking about Whomy, MD/MI, & TM. Right? or as I like to refer to as Meathead, Moe, & Curly.
No and when it works out, and is favored even by the teavangelicals they will do a 90 degree and take credit for it.
They wouldn't put any healthcare in place because they don't care if all of us poor people die. We are just thorns in their sides, sucking up their air. They care for nothing but themselves and MONEY. All those Repubs have terrific insurance plans in Congress, thanks to OUR tax dollars. But we can go over in the corner and die if we don't have a plan.
I agree 100% but the jerks forget one minor detail: when all us poor people (include middle class) die, who will do their dirty work and clean up after them? Then who will be the hurting class? No cops to protect them. No firemen to save their burning mansions; no teachers for their children; no nannies to take care of their children; etc.
@Carol from Orlando
I might add that there is no bus service to prevent their maids from cleaning the mcmansions.
They have promised to take away all safety nets, including health insurance, if they win. They are now on a mission to make the Senate a majority GOP and put more in the House. THE T-Party money is behind them.
Democrats had better turn out and vote the straight ticket or we Americans will lose everything and find ourselves in an Oligarchy run by a corporate raider.
The will do anything to win. My greatest fear is they will harm (or worse) the president. Many of these hate blinded types are in congress and have easy access to Obama. That scares me.
True India, but I also worry about him in crowds too. Some NRA loving cretin MIGHT be able to get pretty close. I wonder how much he and Michelle worry about the possibilities?
MJB, I know they get many death threats. I'm sure they worry. They have two young daughters to worry about, too. It's got to be tough.
I wouldn't want that burden, not for anything!
I don't think the republicans will ever stop lying ---- about anything.
(Just remember, it's not a lie, if you believe it)
Love it Constanza!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh if only the dems could understand they are seeing their reflection and call them selves on their lies too...It is so much easier to to see the flaws of someone else especially when we look in the mirror of who we think is our opposition.
If a rebub's mouth is open, a lie is on its way
Of course they won't because the hate to lose, and on this they lost badly and were left looking stupid. I repeat what I said last night, go directly to whitehouse.gov/healthreform instead of listening to Republican lies and scare tactics to find out what the health care law really does for you.
Jajuan, i've read about it in the papers and online articles. it can get confusing. maybe that's why the repubs are so angry; they don't get it either. maybe romney should explain it to them.
Folks have to remember health care is a complex issue to begin with. I'll do that plug for the White House again. Go to whitehouse.gov and click the official web posting about the Supreme Court decision and you will see a list of easy to understand bullet points about what the law does for people. Go to whitehouse.gov/healthreform also to find answers.
@Jajuan
Herein lies the problem. The reason why the program in MA was so successful is because they used to tax dollars to do PSA's to let people know how the program worked. But the republicans in Congress fixed so that the law cannot be fully implemented until 2014 giving the Koch brothers enough time to spend money on creating the tea potty people even providing buses for the serivce of getting people to vote against the own self admitted best interests.
Now everybody is believeing the propaganda they spew...with that fake grass roots outrage that only millions of dollars can provide
And I will just say again since we all agree that Presidents constitutionally works for the people meaning Obama works for us, instead of listening to propaganda and smears go directly to the source, our country's highest ranking public employee and see what he says on the issue. What better source is there for that than the White House website? Folks know how to use the internet for everything else so there should be no qualms about doing their own research and looking at the appropriate government websites for information on what our government is doing or not doing for us. And with the Supreme Court ruling people's attention is more focused on this issue than when they were going through the sausage making if you will to get this law passed.
And while the public's attention is more focused on this, they don't want to go back through the political theater and melodrama surrounding it, so Republicans and their allies can laser focus on playing politics on this again at their own peril.
@jajuan
And your right. Hopefully people will listen to the President and not the right wing wack job that keeps trying to tell us about the 'biggest' tax increase in history. What exactly did bush do to us - urinate tax our money away but I notice they did not complain then... take heed drillbaby!
JJ...
Normally, you would be correct... Going to the White House site would clarify things...
However, these people have been brainwashed into believing good government is bad government , and everything the White House puts online is propaganda designed to rot their brains, so anything the White House , especially the hated Tyrant President Obama, says, they must hear the opposite, to save their souls...
Talking to those who can't hear you is futility...
yesterday, I and another guy went on a job for the ministry we belong to. Both of us are not wealthy by any means....the other guy has 7 kids and lives in the local samm shelter. Anyway the guy we went to work for is the owner of a moving company for rich people. He asked us who we voted for and who we will be voting for. The other guy said he doesn't keep up with politics and doesn't vote, I said I voted for Obama and will be voting for him again. This guy tells me why would I do something stupid like that, and I tell him that I would never vote for anyone who wants to keep the rich, richer and the poor, poorer. he goes on to tell me that if Obama remain as president we'll all be poor. I tell him I disagree, but i respect his opinion. then he goes on to tell me that the decision of the court was the wrong decision because it's Gods will for poor people to not have healthcare, The guy who came with me to the job bout jumped out of his seat. This man goes on to say that, the very day Obama was sworn in, his life and business has suffered, and Obama and the democrats purposely crashed the economy so McCain would lose the election. I argued with him killing every point he made and he told me, that I made some good arguments......THEN IT HAPPENED......he said well all those arguments don't matter, because Obama isn't a real American, he's a terrorist, a Muslim. then I almost jumped out of my seat. so I sucked it up and kept quiet because at this point I knew this guy is an idiot. when the job was done, he tells "hey guys I would love to have you guys come to work for me next week, I have more work than I can handle and lots of it" now remember....this is the same man who's life changed for the worse the day Obama was sworn in.
David I'm correct on this because the only people who would dismiss official White House info as propaganda are people who aren't going to vote for Obama to begin with. Rational minded people will have their minds open to having it spelled out for them what the health care law does for them. Hell the Supreme Court decision has already brought favorability among independents from 30% to 46%. Give the average American some credit here. I'm not talking about Tea Party dodo brains after all.
Chucky1169469, you will get that kind of cognitive disconnect, we all have and will! :) This is akin to the people who choose to tell you their "life-stories" in a waiting room or checkout line.
Unfortunately, I lost a good friend over the 2008 presidential politics. To date, I still do not have that friend back (don't care!). From my perspective, he was wrong about Senator Obama and he is still wrong about President Obama four years later. You could have lost the opportunity to work for this man again-owing to clashing political views.
Fortunately, you both seem to be able to "work" through your pol' differences. By the way, now that you know each other's views: Should you ever work for him again, I would love to be a fly on the wall listening to the upcoming discussions!
Justice Roberts' voted to support the Health Care Law not only to demonstrate
that the Chief justice is not OWNED by any of the extreme right people (Limbaugh, Palin, Beck, Bachman, Rubio, Ryan, Canter, Boehner, Norquist...Their behaviors are unacceptable for TRUE REPUBLICAN PARTY! ) but it also sending a message to the REAL MEMBERS OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY that these extreme right people have been causing enough damages to the country (by lying to the voters), let send them home from where they are in November 2012!
Now they call Roberts names.....He was a republican who made up his own mind. I guess republicans don't like that. They sure don't like the fact that Obama has a mind. If Obama was superman and could walk on water like Jesus, they would still say he was raising taxes. Please raise some taxes President Obama.
If Obama walked on water to save a drowning child, the Right's pundits would scoff at him, saying "Look! He can't even swim!"...
David M. Johnston, #19. That's the damn truth.
Most of the people, if not all who despise Obama (the flat Earth people) will not vote for him if he offered them filet mignon every night for dinner. The ACA will not matter to them one way or the other, whether it is good for them or not. They are lost to Foxworld. I am pinning my hopes on the more informed, rational Repubs and independents out there who will see Obama for the good things he has done and see Romney for the corporate toady he is. They must be made to understand how horrible and immoral the Ryan plan is. The poverty it will bring about is truly brutal.
Somehow we must make them see a country with all of its safety nets pulled out from under it and all the states turned into "right to work" states. Women's rights destroyed. Health care unaffordable and unavailable to the poor completely. Unavailable to the elderly and disabled. Education gutted. It will be terrible.
@David M. Johnston,
I don't think we need to worry about the President saving any child.
The Teatards will never tell the truth about health care because they all support the
RyanRuin Plan!xxx ooo Ok what is the truth.?
