The Department of Justice is telling Congress that it won't prosecute Attorney General Eric Holder for contempt of Congress over his decision to withhold information about the "Fast and Furious" gun-tracking operation.
In a letter to House Speaker John Boehner, the department says that it will not bring the congressional contempt citation against Holder to a federal grand jury and that it will take no other action to prosecute the attorney general.
Deputy Attorney General James Cole says the decision is in line with long-standing Justice Department practice across administrations of both political parties.
Yesterday, the full House approved a precedent-setting resolution to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in criminal contempt of Congress. It was the first time a sitting Cabinet member has been held in contempt.
The final vote was 255-67, with only two Republicans voting "no." 108 Democrats abstained from voting on what they have long argued is a politically motivated stunt. Many walked out of the Capitol in protest.
Republican lawmakers can still take Holder to court to enforce their demand for documents.
"Congress will probably file a lawsuit, in part hoping to find some judicial support but more because it's just another way to publicize the president's refusal to comply with their demands for documents," Todd Peterson, a law professor at George Washington University, told Reuters.
Republicans could also move to appoint a special prosecutor or even move to impeach.
The last time a Cabinet member was impeached was Secretary of War William Belknap in 1876 under President Ulysses S. Grant. Belknap was acquitted by the Senate, and even then, it was after he had resigned.

When you think for just a few minutes on how many of these crazy, hate-filled T-party types actually work in the capital, or in the actual vicinity of the white house, I am starting to get very concerned now for the life of the president. Many of them are in the congress, or are governors, and have direct access to him. Their hatred toward him has reached a fever-pitch and it is so intense that it is truly becoming dangerous. A scholar whom President George W. Bush appointed as vice chairwoman of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, Abigail Thernstrom has a reputation as a tough conservative critic of affirmative action and politically correct positions on race.
But when it comes to the investigation that the Republican-dominated commission is now conducting into the Justice Department's handling of an alleged incident of voter intimidation involving the New Black Panther Party — a controversy that has consumed conservative media in recent months — Thernstrom has made a dramatic break from her usual allies.
"This doesn't have to do with the Black Panthers; this has to do with their fantasies about how they could use this issue to topple the [Obama] administration," said Thernstrom, who said members of the commission voiced their political aims "in the initial discussions" of the Panther case last year.
"My fellow conservatives on the commission had this wild notion they could bring Eric Holder down and really damage the president," Thernstrom said in an interview with POLITICO.
The facts of the case are relatively simple. Two men were captured on a video standing outside a polling place in a black Philadelphia neighborhood on Election Day in 2008. One of the men had a nightstick, if an unclear agenda — though a member of the black nationalist New Black Panther Party, he had earlier professed loathing for the Democratic "puppet" candidate, Barack Obama, who went on to overwhelmingly carry that precinct.
Three Republican poll monitors filed complaints of intimidation — itself a federal crime — but no voters attested to being turned away. The Justice Department, while Bush was still president, investigated the incident and later, after Obama took office, decided that "the facts and the law did not support pursuing" the claims against the party and against a second, unarmed man, Justice spokeswoman Tracy Schmaler said.

1.) The economy is improving at a sluggish 2%.. It usually only takes a year after a recession for the economy to bounce back. Unemployment is still over 8% (16% if you count people who ran out of unemployment benefits.)
2.) The economic policies the Reagan administration put in place had long term positive effects There is a lag between implementation and effect.
3.) Trickle down does work. If you cut taxes and regulations on businesses they would hire more people here in the USA. The US has one of the highest corporate tax rates in the world. That's why jobs are going overseas.
4.) It was legal for Holder to release them to the Congress. Where is the "transparency" Obama promised? The Obama administration is only good at releasing national security secrets.
