well i for one have to say Outstanding job Roberts or at least doing your job and being Correct on this.
However, with that said this in no way gives you a free ride on one of the worst judgement with citizens united!
but for now this will do.
Hi Pilot !!
Absolutely on both! And more reasons not to vote for Willard.
Hello Kathe
how are you this day?
guessing he dont want to be on the same level as Judge Scott as the worst chief, but with him f-ing up with CU and Papers please laws guess he though this one all the way though.
Don't you people understand that you just got handed a poison pill? The SCOTUS just ruled that this was a 'tax' not a 'penalty'. It's the biggest tax on the middle class in US history. How is Obama going to spin this?
Maybe he'll say that, "It's the right thing to do." Tax the middle class more to pay for all those uninsured. Hope that change works out for you.
Obamacare means Obama cares.
I believe that it means we will have a repeat of 2010.
Absolutely, it makes sense this is a victory for equal rights in health care! This puts a stop to discrimination in health care. Republicans go jump in a lake!
The massive political advertising against the Affordable Care Act turned out to be a huge waste of money.
No matter what the right wing says, especially on Fox News, the truth won out and lies were shown to be what they really were.
This is a GREAT day in the US. This will help many Americans and the economy as well. It will bring down the health care costs. The GOP does not get it.
I'm glad we have it now, but it would have been great to have it 25 years ago. Be fore all those people had to declare bankruptcy. I hope they work on getting single payer now.
Well done Obama and the Supreme Court. How dare the Republicans want to take this away from everyone.
Chief Justice John Roberts upheld the Individual Mandate because the DISSENT would strike down entire Affordable Care Act. A Bridge too far for Roberts.
Willard needs to shut the #$%^^ up. He does not get it..He does not care for the American People...Unbelievable...Great day for ObamaCare..
did any of you notice mutt when he gave his response? i swear he was crying or at least fighting tears. oh por,por mutt. what will you do now.
oops poor poor mutt
Yes. The Supreme Court (thank you Justice Roberts) did make the right decision in majority. Too bad the four hold outs are such cruel types to deny millions of Americans just this one small thing. It is definitely not exactly the same as the sort of universal healthcare systems of other countries, but for sure this is definitely the step in the right direction. I cannot believe how the right wing will do anything to slam their own people who just cannot afford healthcare like they can. That is not just, that is not humanistic. Someone asked the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, why the UK's universal healthcare works. He said that regardless if one is rich or poor, everyone wants universal healthcare and they want it to work. Thus, they do not balk at paying towards it. Too bad many Americans do not share this sort of feeling. Most of all Romney, who years ago agreed to a similar plan for his own state, is now saying the opposite. What an idiot.
Just remember how all those right wing "Christians" (and I use the term very loosely) in this country care about what Christ would do ---- NOT!!!
I liken Obama Care to every player on every Little League Team getting a trophy. Those that fail or cannot compete and rewarded just like those that excel. Obama Care will eventually cause the Health Care Insurance Industry to fail as employers opt for paying a penalty, I mean Tax, rather than providing insurance to employees. As business falls off Insurance Companies will have to rise rates and even more people will drop coverage. In the end our health will be in the hands of the government, much like our retirement system (Social Security). When this happens costs will exceed available funds and services will be restricted, much like Medicare is now. The Democrats are simply reducing the level of medical care while attempting to ensure every one has the same level of care, we will all get a trophy regardless of our ability to achieve. The problem with the logic is the wealthy can always go elsewhere to receive care not provided by the government. So who is really hurt by the Single Payer System, the Middle Class. Most of the Middle Class already has Health Care Insurance that vastly exceeds Medicare, that will be lost as their level of care is reduced to a manageable level according to funding. Who makes out? You may think the poor does, but to tell the truth they will not. The poor already receive Medicare and it is doubtful the Single Payer System will exceed the benefits or care currently available through Medicare.
The Government is the only one that benefits, in that the Government will seize more power and control over the economy and the people. The Single Payer System opens the door for Government control over our daily lives. There have already been intrusions as far as what we eat and what we do for our own benefit. Seatbelt and helmet laws for example, the anti-smoking campainge, and now the soda wars in New York. When the Government controls our Medical System, how long before they put in place strict dietary controls for our own well being? Several Medical Report already address the medical costs associated with inactivity. Will the Government mandate Physical Fitness Training on a daily basis for all citizens to reduce Medical costs? How long before they restrict our activities that create a greater risk of injury, rock climbing, skydiving, hand gliding, motorcycle racing, BASE jumping, etc.... Medical cost associated with Obesity exceed 147 Billion a year, is that reason enough to dictate the diet of the citizenry? When will school sports programs be cut to prevent injury and save Health Care funding? More and more Government restrictions on our daily lives will follow. When it is all said and done, all may have Health Care but few will have the freedom we have today.
The Democrats shouldn't feel they've accomplished anything. They did half the job because they were afraid to include the public option. If SCOTUS had ruled on the public option, we'd be dancing in the streets and condemning the GOP to obscurity. All that was done today was to deliver 40 million American's to the health insurance companies; NO ONE believes that rates will be fair or reasonable. All that is really going to happen is the transferring of trillions of dollars to insurance companies. To think otherwise is naive.
oh avl go read the law again. you are so wrong here.
Today's decision was a simply one, The US Constitution means nothing. The Constitution requires tax legislation to be initiate in the House of Representatives, Obama Care was initiated in the Senate, yet the Courts found the penalty was a tax and upheld the law. How can it be a tax if it was not originated in the House? How can it be a tax when we have been told by Obama and his Administration is was not a tax? How can it be a tax when Obama said repeatedly he would not rise taxes on the Middle Class? Why did it take an amendment to the Constitution to create Federal Income Tax when the Senate can tax any one for any thing without an amendment? This November is time for a "Change".
Now lets complete the Affordable Health Care Act and make it affordable for everyone. Low income, illegal immigrants, small businesses, elderly, disabled, and 100% of everyone in America.
Make Medicare the "public option" and pass a 1% federal sales tax so no one is denied health care.
Many small businesses can not afford health care for their employees so lets gives businesses with fewer than 50 employees, with a net profit of less than 15% of gross sales an exemption to the affordable health care act and use a 1% sales tax to cover everyone.
Lets raise the ceiling for medicare deductions and generate more revenue from the wealthy, and lets raise the weekly payroll deduction by 1%.
Under the old program when I got diabetes my insurance called it "pre-existing condition" and refused to pay for insulin and care. It cost me thousands over the next three years to prove that my uncle was not a blood relative (which they knew from day one) and to get the decision reversed. When it was do you think for a minute that they paid me back? Not in a heart beat! Now they can't do that. I paid for insurance for over 40 years and never had to use it but when I did they refused to care for me. The only happier moment for me was when I became eligible for medicare. Since then I have not had any problems.
For myself as well I was denied health care from three of the biggest insurance companies. Why? Simply because I have health issues-nothing even remotely excessive just the typical stuff that comes with aging. Yet I am looked upon as a loser to them. Why all the insurance companies are in business for is to make billions in profits. They are not in it to help anyone but themselves. So if you are ill-and this is why you need health insurance-you represent losses to them. Thus, they reject you outright once you complete your online application. Or they have the nerve to take you on provided you agree to pay them about triple what the healthy individual pays.
The Supreme Court definitely made the right decision. It's a great day for Americans. Access to health care is a right for everyone, not a special privilege for the rich and super-rich.
Yes, they did the right thing.
I just wish it has been in place 5 or 6 years ago then maybe my Father would still be here.
Now there is HOPE for the HOPELESS people who couldn't afford health care. YOU ROCK OBAMA!!!
- Justices Roberts, Breyer, Ginsburg, Kagan, Sotomayor,
"It's the right thing YOU did!" History will register that you do the right thing for the country! You helped 30 million people who need your help! As the President said: "We will not go back ..."
- Justices Alito, Kennedy, Scalia and Thomas. "It's NOT the right thing YOU did"!
History will register that YOU DID NOT SERVE THE PEOPLE OF THIS COUNTRY, BUT
FOLLOW NORQUIST AND THE EXTREME RIGHT TO ...! WE KNOW THAT YOU DONT CARE! BECAUSE YOU AND YOUR FAMILY ARE PROTECTED! YOU AND YOUR FAMILY RECEIVE THE BEST HEALTHCARE ,SO THE HECK WITH THE MIDDLE CLASS PEOPLE!
