The American people will not put up with the corruption all this money will bring into our political operations today.
This will be the final phase of the "Gilded Age."
This money situation will cause the second American Revolution. Hopefully it will not be bloody, but if it does, the greedy will be those who die.
If the word, “Corporatocracy,” is a pejorative according to Wikipedia, then let us clarify exactly what the Billionaire Bankster Boysclub, the Private Profit Pirates, and the Millionaire Multi-media Moguls have, through cunning corruption of the electoral process (i.e., Citizens United V. FEC), been largely successful in creating, and coin the phrase, “CORPORATE KRATOCRACY,” meaning government by corporations that are strong enough to seize power through force or cunning.
Corporatocracy
Fascism
These seem identical when you consider where republicans are getting their money.
The problem is that most Americans make their political decisions (if they even bother to make any) based on TV commercials. Whoever can buy the most TV ads wins much more often than not. Maybe that wouldn't be so bad if we could count on the ads being truthful, but again, more often than not, they are at best misleading and too often just outright lies. The main problem with Citizens United is that it gave the corporations and the rich a loud speaker to us while everyone else is stuck whispering.
Yes it does- at least for the forseeable future. Of all the awful things W did his Supreme Court legacy is probably the most damaging to democracy.
Welcome to the Corporate States of America LLC
CSA: Confederate States of America
CSA: Corporate States of America
I don't see a difference.
Ironically, I've been calling this country the Corporate States of America for some time now. However, I didn't think it would be the correct name for it. We need to get our democracy back. I thought we were the UNITED States of America.
Between the Supreme Court and the Republicans this will be a third world county.
Time to wake up and smell the insanity before it is too late.
Whats to expect from the rich, they just can not have enough; that they want even to buy state by state till they eventually own American. Then they can try to get rid of those who interfere with their agenda. With the rep. party anything is possible.
We still have a democracy?
I think we are at a "critical juncture"*. The result of the November elections may be the most important one in a very very long time - maybe EVER.
*"Why Nations Fail: The Origins of Power, Prosperity, and Poverty" by Daron Acemoglu and James Robinson
According to these authors, nations that fail have "extractive" institutions - meaning economic and political power is controlled by a small minority - like a King or aristocracy or Communist Party leaders.
The United States of America was a radical experiment that deliberately spread economic and political to a broad base. We had "inclusive" institutions. That was why this country is special - exceptional - and precious.
(OK - "broad base" meant white male land-owners, but we got better and over the years with many struggles, the base was broadened.)
Now look at where we are headed!
I am very very worried and am not staying quiet!!!
Might be good to remember that Germans voted for Hitler in a democratic election.
Consider: During the time that govt was slashing and ending basic human needs funding (general assistance welfare, AFDC - poverty relief) for Americans, insisting that we couldn't afford it, those same legislators redistributed trillions (yes, with a "T") of taxpayer dollars upward. Since Reagan, massive annual handouts have been given to corporations, always "for job creation," most of which continues to be used to build factories in foreign countries, exporting our jobs. Check the stats comparing US conditions today with those of the more advanced nations to get some idea of the impact of govt only for the rich. OK, we know all of this, right? So -- what are we going to do about it? What CAN we do to build a wall between govt and corporations, to restore democracy/representative government? What do we have the courage to do?
Do you remember America. The Land of the free and The Brave,Working class Republican sold her out to the very special Interest they claimed they were against.Remember when Democrats tried to warn them, but they were hell bent on getting,One job, they helped instead to destroy the Country. 236 year down the drain because money talks and the people now walks.
Mitt Romney and company want this country to be of, by and for a handful of very rich people. They will destroy this country if we let them. We must fight back--and win!
I agree with xxx ooo. We are smarter than the repugs and we are going to vote them all out of office and take back our country!!! Obama 2012!
american white people need to wake up and not be fooled by mitt romney because he is white and see him for who he is.blacks and latinos are not voting for him because they see him for who he is.
chestnut--not to worry. Lots of white people have their heads on straight. It seems to be white males from the working middle class that have their heads up their wazoos. What we need to do is get the word out to these fools that Romney and the republicans intend to kick them to the curb if they take over the government.
They need to get the message that everything in their lives are headed down the toilet if republicans take over. I don't think these men actually know what the republicans platform is and how devastating it would be to their families, their jobs, and their futures. But republicans are banking on the ignorance of these bigoted males. Hate to say it but I believe they are bigots. Or, they would be smarter than they seem to be. It's pretty stupid to vote against yourself and your family's welfare.
Hate to point this out but the US was never actually a Democracy. We are a Republic, just like the Romans were. Most Republics last around 200 years so it's not surprising that our Government is changing.
Even if it's not for the better.
We all know that this is a Republic ever heard of a little thing called the Preamble,it mentions that very fact. However we have been operating on Democratic principals since the Republic started with that little thing called the Constitution,Government of the people by the people. It maybe far from perfect but,it if we were going to stay under the rule of in Aristocracy,we could have remained an English Colony. If we are going to be a Plutocracy we could have remained an English Colony, since we were originally divided among so many English Governors. Now since the Working class want to abdicate their thinking to someone who will not get a headache every time they think,we may become at long last the subjects of a few.
If anyone is thinking of voting for GOP candidates in November, please don't let ignorance and hatred be the forces that guide that decision.
OK, California friends--Please vote Issa out! He is a traitor to America--a member of the Pinocchio club and a criminal mobster, in other words, a typical republican.
Ditto.
The KKKalifornia economy collapsed shortly after voters got tricked into voting for fascist white supremacists.
That is called a clue.

Cool! Bille/C.A. Gotta do what we can, before we can't!!!
Ahhh!---POWER TO THE PEOPLE!
Description of "The Hunger Games," by Suzanne Collins (apparently, Mitt enjoyed the movie as much as "firing people"): "In the ruins of a place once known as North America..." Octavia Butler's brutal dystopian novels "Parable of the Sower" and "Parable of the Talents" seem to allude to the US being functionally a Third World Country, i.e. no middle class. We've gone from "The Jetsons" to a new Gilded Age in the 21st Century.
Scary isn't it?
very, very scary mom
I'm grateful Romney is a horrible public speaker.
I hope Obama eats him alive in the debates.
I can see Willard standing there pretending to speak and just moving his mouth and pointing at the microphone as if its broken. After that he will say he needs to go to the little boys room...Then he will say the water isn't what it should be..wrong kind to warm. Then he will say he can't speak because he's parched and has a frog in his throat. Finally he will speak and say........Its OBAMA'S FAULT!
Romney's Answers to the questions from the press?
