What could possibly make someone vote for the corporate Vampire? Oh yes if your a doorknob you will!
I think they would vote for him to get to the back of the line after 2012!
Q: what could possibly convince someone to vote G.O.P.?
A: Catholic priests and other religibigots.
Some people just hate for other people to have rights, and republicans have based their entire political platform on confiscating rights.
Priests, pastors, bishops, and other religious professions like the idea of taking away peoples rights.
That is how republicans are getting votes this year.
The disappointing thing is that these same religious professions think it is OK for candidates to lie and break the 10 commandments so they can get into office.
That opens the door for sociopaths and psychopaths like Robme and Issa.
There are still those who will vote against what would be better for them. The republicans do it all the time.
Indeed C.A. They have gotten their base ginned up on gun rights "wrongly so" they tried to say he's an appeaser! That idea has sunk to the bottom of the sea too.
Romney responds...My Daddy was made in Mexico! Ha Ha HA!
I think the Latino voters that have come to this country and found success in hard work and having their own businesses after living in a two class country where there are the super rich and the super poor are smart enough to see the potential for their families future and don't want their future to be like their past. They recognize corruption when they see it and know exactly where this president is taking this country.
Not from the people I talked to. They all think he stinks. They will never vote for Flip Robme.
Mitt Romney is an anchor baby. His baby daddy married the baby momma so he wouldn't be deported (click here).
Romney sounds psychotic every time he opens his mouth because his viewpoints are democrat but his political platform is republican. That's why he can't keep his story straight.
NoLimitSoldier50~~Run along to the fox propaganda channel. They will gladly tell you what and how to think. The folks who are posting here are very intelligent, independent thinkers. We do not listen to your BS!
You seem to be a stand-up comic.
No Latino who knows who he is will vote for him.
NoLimits
Did U lose your way or your mind?
Latino voters will if they are of the Dominionist ilk. Frank Schaeffer, who's father created the Dominionist movement, says that Dominionists hate America. Who'da thunk it?

If Latinos don't want to live in a plutocrasy, they will for for Obama!!!!
Cubans
Willard spoke at the NALEAO and said "I won't make any temporary changes, they will be permanent." But neglected to say what those changes would be, in true Romney style.
Hi Chris!!
Willard won't show his hand but, Barry is a much better poker player than Willard. <vbs>
Quite a few federal laws began as Executive Orders.
About 95% of federal workers are in the executive branch, and the President uses EOs for organizational realignment and policies.
While the President can't change the laws directly, he can tell his employees what to do.
If the EO turns out to be popular, then it would be political suicide to vote against it when it comes up for vote in the house and senate.
That would be permanently changing the dream act, to non existence.
There will always be some uninformed, gullible or deluded Latinos voting against their own best interests, as there are in other special interest groups. There are most likely even some successful Latinos who weigh the benefits of protecting their riches from taxation as more important than fairness or the rights of others who share their heritage who will vote for Robme and the GOP plan.
I heard a similar question asked yesterday of why anyone in the GLBT community would vote for the Repug agenda, which is clearly against marriage equality, etc. The gay contributors being asked that question responded with a similar answer, that it was those in the gay community who also had substantial assets and felt those assets were more important than the personal rights of their community that supported the GOP agenda for tax cuts over marriage equality.
So basically... those of any group which the GOP have policies that generally discriminate against, whether they be latinos, blacks, gays, women, etc. If they are rich... they must decide whether their money is more important to protect than the equal rights of their community.
Do you think that Latino voters will ever vote for Mitt Romney?
NO -
93%
As a member of one of those groups who the GOP generally discriminate against, a woman, I value fighting for fairness and equality for all. If I had wealth, I would still fight for fairness and equality.
Money does not get anyone into Heaven, and no one can take those monetary riches with them. But fighting for social equality, economic fairness and caring for those who are less advantaged are qualities that will count in the next sphere of existence.
Maybe not Scully but you can bet they will try to lie cheat and steal their way in.
@D Scully
As I stated on the board last Thursday the last shirt has no pockets. ie you really can't take it with you.
Hi Scully,
Good post, but it is actually delusional to believe republicans are pro-wealth.
Republicans have reduced taxes on the wealthy since the 1960s, so that part's true.
The problem is that republicans have increased unemployment and have reduced total wealth every time they get into office since the 1920s.
While democrats have increased taxes, they have also reduced unemployment and have increased total wealth, which more than makes up for any tax increase.
Democrats do this by focusing on human capitol development (social programs and education).
That's why the US dollar overtook the British Pound as the preferred world currency during the 1960s.
British conservatives ran their economy into the toilet.
I think Latinos and Americans are waiting to see how Marco Rubio ways in on Latino matters. Everyone knows that the President, with his Executive president, was just trying to upstage Marco Rubio will the Bill he already proposed.
@Crackhead Awards,
I noticed that your post referenced the 1920's and 1960's. This President is an Economic failure, in 2012, no matter how you try to portray it.
@DrillBaby,
where did you go to school? We talked about this in high school civics.
These statistics go from the 1920s through 2010.
Almost 100 years.
The trend actually goes back farther than that, but things like the Department of Labor didn't exist before that.
Republicans collapsed the economy twice in the late 1800s.
The Great Depression was caused by Hoover and Coolidge.
Reagan caused the Savings and Loan disaster in the 1980s.
Nixon collapsed the economy in the 1970s. Nobody could get a job.
And so on.
Would be nice if you could make some kind of contribution that didn't involve lies.
@CA,
If you are so proud of those statistics, make refernce to them. I saw nothing in your posts that refernced 2010.
@CA,
My only question to you would be, how did the Community Reinvestment Act contribute to those crashes you posted? Also, did the crash of the housing market in 2007-2008 contribute to the economic collapse and was the CRA a Democratic or Republican initiative?
@CA,
I went to a very good High School, and quite frankly, I don't care about what went on 100 years ago. Your President is in way over his head.
He has surrounded himself with baffoons that he calls Czars, and has put an Attorney General in charge that thinks he is above the Law, in charge of our Judicial System.
This President is in way over his head, just ask President Clinton. James Carville, or Jimmy Carter.
@DrillBaby,
You're funny.
I've got a masters degree and I've been considering a PhD.
If you clicked on the links I already provided in my post they you would have seen the references. I presume you didn't do that again.
The most recent information is from the Bush administration. The Obama administration trends reflect the same effect - republicans are bad for unemployment and democrat is good.
You should care about mistakes whether they happened 100 years ago or 6 years ago.
DrillHead,
Click the links, read the references, then reply.
If you wan't to convince people, then you should at least try to sound intelligent.
@DrillBaby,
You did not cover these in school?
Panic of 1873. Republican: U. S. Grant.
Panic of 1893. Republican: B. Harrison.
1929 Great Depression. Republican: Coolidge/Hoover.
1980s Savings and Loan Disaster. Republican: Reagan/Bush.
1970s Stock Market Crash. Republican: Nixon.
2000s Recession. Republican: Bush.
Any idea how hard it is to answer every question incorrectly on a true false test?
Must select the wrong question every single time, so that means you have to know the right answer and not choose that one.
I visualize someone that does not understand that you must first pull the gun out of the holster before pulling the trigger.
The usual crying and whining when CryBaby comes on the blog. Nothing new there. He sure ain't here to learn. <sigh>
@CA,
You didn't answer my question as usual. I asked, "How did the Community Reinvestment Act contribute to those crashes you posted?" Nobody cares about the 1800's. People care about the here and now. So, "Did the CRA contribute to the Great Recession we are experiencing now?"
@CA,
In my life, the people that have had to tell me how smart they are, i.e. "I've got a masters degree and I've been considering a PhD." aren't that smart.
I know you are smart, but stating it is beneath you. Just my opinion.
That's why he's on my ignore.
You seem to be improving.
You are worrying about this?
This did nothing except let people sue lenders for refusing loans if they could afford a lawyer.
Lenders lend money to people that can afford it. Sometimes to people that can't.
Point?
Nobody needs a law to force lenders to do anything either way. Lenders just foreclose when they screw up, and if they screw up bad enough, they go bankrupt, and investors loose their money unless the bank is insured when they do go bankrupt.
If you have a different opinion, then kindly share.
You should care about the 1800s. And 1929.
Same script as 2007.
I feel your pain.
DrillBaby is becoming a bit more constructive when he makes a reply. Something is getting through. My only reason for being on this blog is to do what I can to make that kind of thing happen more often.
Nice to be friends and agree. I like that.
Better to disagree and for each person to know exactly why our opinions differ. I like that better. Takes time, and I'm sure others with DrillBaby's opinions are reading this blog.
Nobody agreed with me when I started. Now some do.
Perhaps I'm changing. Perhaps others.
I wasn't aware that Carter was the one that signed the legislation that allowed lenders to be sued until DrillBaby brought up the CRA. No significant difference for the economy as a whole, but a big difference for some inner city families. Banks used to take a processing fee and arbitrarily turn down applicants without giving a reason. Carter changed that.
Thank you DrillBaby.
Listened to Obama's speech today regarding student loans. This guy is either an idiot, or his speech writer is, thusly making him an idiot for not firing him or her.
I quote- "Student loan debt is now higher than credit card debt. And that is wrong."
I'm sure plenty of you liberals will explain to be why people having higher student loan debt than credit card debt is wrong. But- here's my position- and it is quite the opposite of what Obama said. Student loan debt isn't nearly so bad as credit card debt. It is an investment in the future that will alow the graduate to earn significantly more over his or her lifetime. Credit card debt is a mechanism that allows people to live beyond their means. Student loan debt- my kids' are 7% or so on their Federal Loans, is much lower than the average credit card debt.
But please, someone defend Obama's statement so I can understand that thought process- I may not agree with it, but would like to understand it.
Medical technologist (associates for ultrasound, x-ray, ...):
Engineer (bachelors for electrical, mechanical, ...):
Physician (equivalent to masters with residency):
Worth it?
That's a hell of allot more money than minimum wage.
Takes 5 to 10 years to pay back.
Your call. I'm a retired engineer.
These numbers look good to me if there is a job at the other end.
Need to pick a profession that has low unemployment and high income before you decide to take out a huge student loan. Have to look at unemployment rates and income before you take out a loan.
Also wise to realize that the working level degree in non-sciences is a masters or PhD.
Good points, Crack- I am dumbfounded that Obama would make the comparison to credit card debt, and find it wrong that someone with more debt accrued through investing in the future of themselves is bad versus someone who tries to enhance their living style past their income means.
He is out of touch with realistic thinking.
@CA,
Kudos to you. I'm an Engineer too. See, we do have some things in common, just not political beliefs. I will still work to change yours though.
@CA,
I blame Educators and the Education System for this. Why are we not telling our youth that certain degrees don't pay as well as others. It's the 'you can be whatever you want' mentality and it's not true. What we should be telling our youth is that, 'No, you can't take out over $100,000 in student loans to become a Social Worker.' You'll only get paid $25,000 a year and there's no way you'll pay that loan off. Instead we say "You can be whatever you want."
It's BS.
Rusty-2589429
Obama never said anything even close to that.
This needs to be taught in high school.
The decision to invest (or not) is determined by the cost as compared to the return.
There is no requirement to disclose to investors, which includes students.
That burden needs to be addressed to fix the economy.
@DrillBaby,
If you are educated, then act like it.
Mindless insults have a tendency to make people think someone is stupid.
Not the best way to win people over to your side.
Might I suggest a new tactic?
Use humor backed up with proof. The funny stuff won't work without facts.
That is one of several techniques used by charismatic leaders.
If you get it right, you can make people fart and spit coke out their nose.
These people have used that technique to modify public opinion.
Reagan was the only conservative to master a few charismatic techniques. Kind of cold and stiff, but he managed to pull it off once in a while.
Insults waste time and halt productive discussions by making everyone more stubborn on both sides of the discussion.
Impress people.
Spend a few minutes reading outside your profession.
If you drop the hatred and spend a few minutes listening to Barack, then you will figure out why he is popular with both liberals AND conservatives.
Crack-what Obama said was that the level of student loan debt has now surpassed credit card debt, and that is wrong...
I think I paraphrased it correctly above. Student loan debt is an investment in oneself. Obama clearly said it was wrong to have higher SL debt than CC debt.
I guess I would like to know what he meant- because I listened to his speech on the radio.
@CA,
I don't think you are a retired engineer. No one with that amount of education could have the political views that you have.
No. Latino voters will vote for President Obama, they are fully aware of what Mitt Romney will do is return them back to their countries even when it was no fault of their own to be here. Mitt Romney does not have any plan of actions on many issues that President Obama already has. President Obama needs Democratic majority in Congress. We all should vote for Democrats in 2012.
Obama widens lead among swing-state Latinos
By Liz Goodwin, Yahoo! News | The Ticket – 9 hrs ago
President Barack Obama has widened his considerable lead over Mitt Romney among registered Latino voters in five key swing states, according to a new poll of 2,000 voters by Latino Decisions and the pro-immigration reform advocacy group America's Voice.
Obama enjoys the biggest lead among Latino voters in Arizona, 74 percent of whom say they favor the president over Romney. On average, Obama is leading Romney 63 to 27 percent among Latinos in Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Nevada and Virginia. Analysts estimate that Romney would need at least 40 percent of the Latino vote overall to win the general election, although that estimate changes depending on turnout.
One factor behind the incumbent's significant lead may be an increase in enthusiasm for Obama following his announcement last week that he would offer immunity from deportation to as many as 800,000 young illegal immigrants who were brought to the country as children. Fifty-eight percent of Latino voters surveyed between June 17 and 21 said they feel more enthusiastic about Obama now, compared to 9 percent who said they felt less enthusiastic about him. Overall, 60 percent of Latinos said they were "very enthusiastic" about voting in November, compared to 47 percent in a November 2011 Latino Decisions poll.

There will be a few Latinos who will vote for him. They are the same kind of people who listen to their preacher on who to vote for.
Mitt Romney IF elected will send this country into a depression like the 1930's.
Vote Democrat. Too many of the Democrats have no balls or spines but at least most of them care about 99% of the people.
Between getting outfoxed by the Prez on the Latino issue and the article in the Washington Post about he and Bain sending jobs oversees, Mittens has to be crying his eyes out, wondering why his Magic Underpants aren't working. Too bad, so sad Mitty.
Willard has only one use for Latinos....to serve him and his family and just deny that he employs them. I didn't forget that little tidbit!
"Me vote for Mitt......Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha." by xxx ooo
Accidentally, rather correct!
Maybe Willard can sing to them La Cucarcaracha!
Petition/Congress wants to make streaming a FELONY! WOW! you know like you tube ect...
http://act.demandprogress.org/letter/ten_strikes?akid=700.450896.5hVZPC&rd=1&t=1
Don;t you mean La Kocharacha?
La Kocharacha? Love it!
LOL! But he want to entice them NOT scare them away!!!!
David that is stellar!
XXX - If you remember right,Romney can't even hold a tune.If he did try to sing to latino's ,he would get a rotten GOOSE EGG thrown at him.
I thought Mitt song America the Beautiful in French & maybe Spanlish?
TED, Good evening , I would pay to see that LOL! I think Romney would be arrogant smuck! As long as they clean his house , be grounds keepers and wash and wax his cars hes okay with them . Hes a two face person who a dog can not trust let alone a Latino!
TED if Sandusky gets off and is not charged i will have lost all faith in justice system!
@Phyliss--No Phyliss I afraid he sung it in English, It just sounded that way, like everything else Mitt does, He made a flip-flop mess, when he opened his mouth to sing. . Rosanne Barr did a much better job with the Star Spangled Banner.---{Woof, Woof, Who Let The Dogs Out} was another one of his mishaps...
This link is good.
They are looking for people to host viewings in their area.
some latino voters will vote for mitt romney, just as some african americans will, just as some gays and lesbians will, just as some women will.
i don't understand it, but they get to make that choice.
It sure won't be because he has a $400 hair cut!!!
@suzette-3194003
I think the only lesbians that will vote for flip robme are Mary Cheney and her new wife Hope. By the way they were married today - perhaps we should send a gift... NOT!
@suzette,
Mexico is predominately Catholic. Do you think they like the President's stance on gay marriage? Last time I checked, Mexicans were almost 90% Catholic. I find it hard to believe that Catholics/Mexicans will vote for Pro-Gay/Lebian candidates.
Phyllis...
That's not a $400 haircut... That's a TOUPEE!
He's in his 60s with full, thick black hair? I don't think so...
$250 million can buy one heck of a hairpiece... Do you think Mitt's vanity would allow anyone to see him without it?
Of course not then people would find out he's actually a unicorn
Show us the top of your head Mitt....what's he hiding under there.....that or submit to a DNA test to show he is a person not the mythological creature we all know he is
Cynical, I'm not sure he is even organic.
"Bring me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses",
They wrote in large on the Statue of Liberty.
Yet Republicans continue to prove They're the asses,
For proving they can't give the foreign entry.
Their xenophobic hatred makes them fretful
Of any race that's not the same as theirs.
They'd build their fences, keep their oubliettes full,
And huddle behind borders, repeating prayers.
They all forget that once their folks were pleading,
Just people needing shelter from the storm.
The future needs the help of foreign breeding,
To keep their party from taking inbred-form.
Without the power of foreign energy infused,
They'll never regain the power they will lose.
Some Latinos will vote for Romney - out of fear, out of frustration, out of blind loyalty to the Republican brand... Cubans tend to vote Republican, because they'll fall for the propaganda point that Democrats are secretly Communists, in league with Castro...
David thank you for posting a thought provoking limerick. Indeed where would any of us be in this nation if it were not for our ancestors? 235 Years it took to build this great nation and what we have seen past few years from Republican party will destroy it ! And here are the words again "AND NONE SHALL CALL IT TREASON !"
DAVID M. JOHNSTON - Unfortunately that is so true.But overall,I say Romney MIGHT get 40% of their vote.If he gets more than that,I would be shocked.
Bravo David,
We could all post funny limericks. Our country is in dire need of solutions. Apparently, you have given up on voluntary solutions by your posts. You offer no solutions, just funny limericks. I say move aside Liberals, because Republicans have solutions, not just silly Limericks.
As if you ever have anything of value to contribute. Information gets posted every which way but loose and all you do is criticize and keep asking the same questions....you're spamming the page with non-sense. Constantly trying to grab the wheel and don't even know how to drive. Typical r/tp behavior. Relax and learn but, definitely don't come here un-armed.
As if. Your name says it all. "Rrrrright."
The GOP will use the threat of communism on the Cubans. It has worked for many years. Cubans in S. FL are a whole other kettle of fish from the rest of the Latino/Hispanic population. Believe me, I was in S. FL during the Elian Gonzales ordeal. OMG....
They are never going to vote Democrat. If Republicans told them they were going to send them back to Cuba, they'd still vote for them. They will swallow the lie about Obama being communist as easy as a Cuban flan.
India, we keep hereing the Re pubs have all the solutions my fanny! What have they contributed to getting us back on track in 4 years ? Not one damn thing! They have grandstand, obstructed anything from getting done. They need to rename the party " THE FILIBUSTERS!" its all there capable of doing. They dare say Obama has not done nothing and yet they are so arrogant with there we have the solutions. They are 99% of the problem in the USA. I wonder what happen to that little boy ? ha should be all grown up now.
Pam52, So true. They are the Great Obstructionist Party.
Elian would be a man by now. He went back to Cuba with his dad. No one has heard that I know of. That was so tragic. I liked Elian's dad quite a bit, he seemed intelligent and a good father. Too bad he lived in Cuba, though. That is not a good place to have to call home.
The fact that they escaped on a raft, where his mother died, speaks volumes about the Castro regime. As a member of Amnesty International, I always try to keep in touch with prisoners there. It is really sad. In fact, it is pretty hopeless.
I'm waiting for an American president to open those doors, for the sake of the good Cuban people. The sanctions are hurting them, not the top dogs.
Or, as I call them, SWINE. No offense to swine.
Only the ones that are delusional.
The only thing that makes latinos vote republican is allegiance to the pope (catholicism).
Extremely religious people like the idea of confiscating human rights.
Hebrew rabbi told jews to vote for Nazis, and many did.
Gotta remember Lutherans voted for so many Nazis that Adolph Hitler got elected chancellor of Germany.
Why? Hitler was baptized Catholic. People forget he got elected on a conservative platform.
The pope signed a treaty with Nazis that allowed many war criminals to escape prosecution at the end of the war.
That's why priests, bishops, pastors, cantors, deacons, preachers, rabbi, and hazzan, and cantors are telling people to vote republican this year.
Crackhead Awards love your Avatar! You bring up a good point. Those that were going to be deported will be like a lightening rod and light a fire under the Latinos of who gives a damn about them !
Its like the clergy are saying to hell with separation of church and state and the examples you gave are how it can be used in a horrible way !
Mental illness is a voting block that includes 50 million people in the United States.
That can swing an election, so candidates must address that in their political platform without insulting them (can't call them delusional).
P.T. Barnum was the first person to exploit that for fun and profit.
The Barnum Effect describes gullibility as a measurable phenomenon. Mentally ill are much more gullible.
Conservatives are less educated. Less educated voters are susceptible to delusions, and delusions are defended using the following logic.
Religion is a gigantic magnet for people that have mental illness.
Health care professionals even recognize extreme racism as a mental illness that is just like any other irrational phobia, like fear of rodents.
About 20% of the US population has a diagnosable mental illness.
Conservative media organizations are convincing that segment of the population to believe outrageous lies.
Marketing uses Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt (FUD) to sell inferior products based on this technique.
Joseph Stalin used FUD to maintain control of the Soviet Union after it became clear that communism is a failed economic system.
The Koch empire was built by Joseph Stalin - so the Tea Party has its roots in communism. The idea that Republicans hate communism is the definition of delusion.
@CA,
We've got a vivid picture of the Republicans and conservatives in our midst. They're a sour, dour lot -- close-minded, tight-fisted and intolerant. Some are businesspeople, greedy and self-interested. Others are rednecks, poorly informed, clinging to their guns and religion.
If only these folks understood political issues better and cared more about their fellow man, they'd be liberals, right?
Think again. A growing body of research is shattering this conventional wisdom.
Survey data make clear that Republicans, on average, are better informed than Democrats about political issues. Data from the American National Election Study has confirmed this over the years, and an April 2012 Pew Research Center survey -- "What the Public Knows about the Political Parties" -- is the latest to document it.
On eight of the survey's 13 questions about politics, Republicans outperformed Democrats by an average of 18 percentage points. "Republicans fare substantially better than Democrats on several questions in the survey, as is typically the case in surveys about political knowledge," according to the study.
The widest gap -- 30 points -- came on a question about which political party is "generally more supportive of reducing the size of federal government." Seventy-six percent of Republicans, but only 46 percent of Democrats, correctly named the GOP.
Republicans even know more about Democratic leaders: 75 percent of Republicans identified Nancy Pelosi as a Democrat, vs. 59 percent of Democrats. And while 73 percent of Republicans knew Franklin Roosevelt was a Democrat, only 58 percent of Democrats did.
But surely liberals, widely praised for tolerance, are more open-minded than conservatives toward people with different views? Whoops.
A March 2012 Pew report, entitled "Social Networking Sites and Politics," found that 28 percent of liberals have "blocked, unfriended or hidden someone" on social-networking sites because of their political postings, compared with 16 percent of conservatives.
Come to think of it, that shouldn't surprise anyone who's spent time on a college campus. We're used to hearing that left-wing students have shouted down a conservative speaker. But when did you last hear about conservative students silencing a liberal speaker?
OK, OK. So maybe conservatives as a group are more knowledgeable about politics and more open-minded than liberals. But liberals' signature quality is their "bleeding hearts." They must be more caring and generous than conservatives, right?
It turns out willingness to use government money to improve others' condition doesn't guarantee personal generosity. Social scientist Arthur Brooks documented this in his 2006 book, "Who Really Cares: The Surprising Truth about Compassionate Conservatism."
According to Brooks, conservative-headed households give 30 percent more to charity than liberal-headed households, on average, although liberal families' incomes are higher. Conservatives also donate more time and give more blood.
Two primary factors account for the conservative-liberal charity divide, says Brooks. One is religiosity. Brooks found that religious people -- who are disproportionately conservative -- donate far more to charity each year than secularists, holding incomes constant.
The other is attitudes toward big government. People who don't believe that "government has a responsibility to reduce income inequality" give an average of four times more to charity than people who do hold this view of government's role.
Another important difference may contribute to conservatives' greater open-mindedness. It's this: Liberals tend to explain policy disagreements by imputing evil motives like selfishness to conservatives, while conservatives (more charitably) tend to view liberals as well-meaning but misguided.
Why? Liberals tend to evaluate public policies by focusing on the intentions behind them, says economist Thomas Sowell.
For centuries, liberal thinkers have placed great value on words related to intentions -- "sincerity, commitment, dedication" -- describing policies in terms of intended goals: "liberty, equality, fraternity" or "social justice."
Conservatives, however, place greater value on real-world consequences. In their view, the world is too complex for any human plan to achieve its intended goal without producing potentially harmful unintended consequences. A cradle-to-grave welfare state, for example, may be intended to help the poor, but it may foster a culture of dependence that will lock future generations into poverty.
So, my liberal friends, the next time you meet one of these strange characters, a conservative, don't jump to conclusions about his or her ignorance or greed. It's just possible that the real closed-minded person may be the one in the mirror.
This was posted from my local Liberal newspaper.
@DrillBaby,
You are improving. Very impressive write up, but you don't have any links to back up your statements.
That is a bad thing because I do (click anywhere in this post to read the article).
Average unemployment is 0.9% better for each Democrat presidential term and about 1.5% worse for each Republican presidential term.
The last depression occurred during the Republican presidencies of Calvin Coolidge and Herbert Hoover. We are in another depression.
It looks like I need to repeat this.
Panic of 1873. Republican: U. S. Grant.
Panic of 1893. Republican: B. Harrison.
1929 Great Depression. Republican: Coolidge/Hoover.
1980s Savings and Loan Disaster. Republican: Reagan/Bush.
1970s Stock Market Crash. Republican: Nixon.
2000s Recession. Republican: Bush.
100% failure rate.
This is not an opinion poll.
Them is cold hard facts.
DrillBaby,
Here are some more links. Enjoy.
DrillBaby,
There are three main differences between liberals and conservatives.
First.
Liberals view people as a resource while conservatives view people as a liability. This is why liberals pursue education programs while in office. Each year of college increases income by about 12% and reduces unemployment by about 12%. If cheap state colleges were free, the about 400% of the cost would be recovered through increased tax revenue created by increased income. Conservatives gut education programs.
Second.
Liberals view foreign countries as allies while conservatives regard foreign countries to be enemies until proven otherwise. That is why Eisenhower/Nixon refused to begin relations with Cuba after the revolution, and why Fidel Castro decided to become an ally of the Soviet Union to prevent US invasion. This is also why al-Queda exists and the reason Asian Muslims hate us.
Third.
Republicans have no idea what improves unemployment and even less knowledge about banking and stock market economics. That is why banking, stock markets, commodities exchanges, and unemployment collapse like clockwork when republicans get elected. Liberals tend to understand how these things work, or they appoint people that do.
But.
The biggest difference is that the average liberal has more education than the average conservative.
You really ought to read these links.
Not criticizing you.
Just inviting you to make an attempt to understand why people disagree with you.
drill,
if i might respond to your comment about so many repubs knowing who Nancy Pelosi is.
repubs know who she is because they have demonized her for years. they are doing the same thing to Eric Holder. i am sure more repubs know who Eric Holder is as well.
repubs are very good at targeting democrats, trying to impeach them, to get them to resign, or step down even when they are innocent (Don Siegelman, Democratic Gov. of Alabama-targeted by the W. bush administration was falsely imprisoned; Valarie Plame, CIA agent outed, etc). i believe they are doing the same thing to Eric Holder. repubs want to make this a scandal from "the most corrupt president" (darryl issa). they tried to make solyndra a scandal also-that doesn't seem to be going as well.
when i listen to fox news, if i were a drinker, taking a drink everytime they mentioned solyndra and fast and furious, i would be drunk in the first 5 minutes.
Crackhead,
i love your posts when you respond to drill (and all your other posts) but do you think he/she really cares that you disagree with him/her?
Hi Suzette,
Good to meet you.
Education is a major BS detector. That makes it possible to make fun of people.
It also makes it possible to understand what is wrong with the country.
Conservatives don't understand that.
DrillBaby and other conservatives are thinking that the Social Security money we paid into for the last 70 years will be there when they go to retire.
BS.
Conservatives elected a jackass that spent the whole damn thing fighting Muslims and drugs, so now we are stuck borrowing money from China.
We have the biggest military in the world.
But we have to borrow money from China if we want to invade China.
How messed up is that (i really wanted to use the f word)?
@Suzette and CA,
Like I said CA and Suzette, I have a Phd in Electrical Engineering. Like you CA, I am well educated (sorry Suzette).
Also, I was told at a very young age not to think Social Security would be there for me when I retired and I planned accordingly. I knew our Government over promised. I grew up in poverty, and I lived within my means. I paid off my house almost ten years ago when I was 37. I didn't get caught up in the 'Keeping Up With the Jonses' mentality that we have today. If the economy collapses tomorrow, I don't care because I have planned for it for a long time.
So, CA, I guess some Conservatives understand.
How on earth did you manage to earn a Phd without being able to do research?
And you insult people?
How is that working out for you professionally?
@DrillBaby,
Lets try this a different way.
Obama turned down the Keystone pipeline from the Canadian border as far south as Oklahoma, but the south portion is conditionally approved because the low water table provides plenty of dry earth that can act like "kitty litter" to absorb any spills.
The north section is a problem because large aquifers put the water table under the pipeline as little as 18 inches beneath the surface plus there is active earthquake faults and subduction zone that could rupture the pipe and permanently contaminate ground water. There is no possible way to clean up a spill if water pours into the hole as soon as you dig it.
The north pipeline needs to be double wall pipe-inside-pipe with catch basins at each pumping station with differential volume-flow pipe-break sensors.
Both sections (north and south) need to be side-by-side redundant so that flow is not cut off during pipeline maintenance.
Neither feature was part of the original proposal. That is the nature of the dispute.
Obama has stated that he will approve once changes are incorporated.
We need the pipeline because everybody refuses to turn off the lights and stop driving cars that get 10 mile/gallon.
Canada is too sparsely populated for them to care about any of this.
Meanwhile ... off in the middle east.
Ike Eisenhower and Dick Nixon cooked up a scheme that killed about 800 Muslims in Iran in order to give BP Iranian oil without paying any royalties for about 30 years, so it isn't to hard to figure out why Iranian Muslims want to kill Americans.
The people that Nixon/Eisenhower killed were from influential families (people like the Kennedys and Bushes).
Reagan gave Iraq the weapons of mass destruction that were used as an excuse for invasion, which is why Cheney knew Sadam Insane had weapons of mass destruction.
Problem.
Reagan also gave Iran weapons of mass destruction in order to get hostages released.
The Iranians watched Bush #2 invaded Iraq using some lame excuse about weapons of mass destruction (the weapons of mass destruction that were provided by Reagan).
I don't know what gave Iran the crazy idea that we might invade them since we also gave them the same kind of weapons of mass destruction that we used as an excuse to invade Iraq.
So Iran decided to begin an anti-ship cruise missile program right after Sadam was executed, and it takes about 10 years to complete that kind of thing.
Iran had this successful cruise missile firing in January.
Wow.
Who could have seen that coming?
Iranians have 10 uranium mines and a fully functional nuclear power plant developed under a program started by Ike Eisenhower after the coup that killed those 800 Muslims.
That power plant has enough used fuel to produce dozens of plutonium warheads in about 4 weeks if the chemical processing facilities are ready to go. They don't need centrifuges for that. They need stainless steel vats, acid, robots, and cameras.
Obama was trying to convince the Iranians to not complete the nuclear warheads, and Iran was negotiating with us until Cain, Bachmann, and Romney said they would nuke Iran first at about the time that someone assassinated the top level manager in charge of the nuclear program.
Then some unknown person leaked secret US plans about the computer virus that disabled Iranian nuclear centrifuges a few months after Bohner appointed Bachmann to that committee.
For some strange reason that nobody can understand, Iran decided to stop negotiating.
Big surprise again. Wow.
OK.
Point out how you would do things better than Obama.
Oh. Forgot to mention.
Iran needed the centrifuges to refuel the power plant provided by Eisenhower.
@CA,
Lets try this a different way.
We elected a President with no Executive experience. What did we expect would happen to this country?
Latinos will never vote for Romney because Mitt doesn't give a dam about them
Latino citizens that are delusional because of religion will vote republican despite the fact that republicans wan't to confiscate their citizenship and deport them.
Hi CA!
We are on the same rail today. Their religion will have a large influence on their decision when voting for a POTUS.
If they vote with their wallets, it's Obama all the way!!
@Kathe,
Do you still think Marco Rubio will not be the VP candidate?
If you want Mitt Romney to win you should hope Rubio isn't the VP. He has no experience and people will hammer that, he is a Cuban conservative which isn't actually going to swing the latino community abroad when you bring out his previous stances. Say what you will but Joe Biden is alot smarter than he makes himself out to be and he is a better public speaker than Barack Obama.
@CC,
OMG, we voted for a President that that had less experience and controversy over where he was born!!!! Look at where we're at now.
We elected a Community Organizer with no Executive experience to lead this Nation. It boggles my mind how anyone could still support this guy.
He surrounded himself with idiologs that he called 'Czars' and is defending an Attorney General who thinks he is above the Law. How much worse does it need to get before people realize that this President is in way over his head?
@DrillBaby,
Romney has zero federal experience.
It is a lie to say the same thing about Obama, and there has been no controversy over where he was born (just some odd T shirts).
Obama takes one position and does not shift.
Romney takes every possible position on everything because he has no clue whatsoever which side is right.
You are no longer worth responding to.
Good bye.
So then Drill you concur that Rubio is going to help Romney's ticket all that much, certainly not more than he would likely hurt it.
So if Obama had no experience Rubio, who also has no experience would be better......when did two wrongs make a right?
@CC,
Why are Dems always comparing the President to a VP candidate? First it was Palin, next it will be Rubio. Is it because you view the President more like a VP than a commander in chief?
@CA,
You are right. Obama takes one position. The Anti-American position every time.
I think that the Latino voters know who is on their side and doubt they would vote for Mitt, with the exception of the Cuban people who tend to vote republican.
I think you are right for about 80% of latinos.
The other 20% are so delusional that they would vote against their own self interest because a priest, rabbi, or other religious professional told them to do that.
@CA,
Last time I checked, Mexico was over 90% Catholic. I think they will vote who their god moves them to vote for. I don't think it will be a Pro-Abortion, Pro-Gay Marraige vote. It will be a just vote and not a political one.
Well then I'm wondering how democrats always win the latino vote must be some nefarious brainwashing or voter fraud....the imaginary sky is the limit
Well guess what a great many catholics don't have much of a problem with gays or gay marriage....so that's over played as well. With the catholic church there's this wonderful and hilarious dichotomy between what the priests say..what the priests do like hide chi-mo(s) but that's a different tale.....and what catholics actually believe.
The priest say no birth control, no condoms....all catholics with few exceptions use them. So there's that.
Next as you maybe...perhaps are saying...most people don't vote their religion not in the simple social issues sense. Let's not forget the long exaggerated homophobia of the african american community that most people who aren't black might think is so strong but really isn't.
@DrillBaby,
My kids are chicano.
Never. Going. To. Vote. Republican. Ever.
Too smart for that.
off subject in a way, but I just got this book and everyone should read it before they vote.
http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2012/04/25/9-revelations-from-robert-draper-s-do-not-ask-what-good-we-do.html
@CC,
I agree, most people don't vote religion, they vote pocketbook. On both accounts this President has failed miserably.
@CA,
My father was a far-left Democrat. Are you sure they're never going to vote Republican. When they see Marco Rubio on that ticket, are you sure?
@DrillBaby,
Voted for Carter in 1976. Did not vote in 1980.
I voted republican in 1984. I still take long showers.
I stopped voting republican because Reagan gave WMD to both Iraq and Iran and he signed legislation that robbed social security blind so he could get elected to a second term by promising to lower taxes. Reagan/Bush "voodoo economics" is why we're borrowing from China.
I will not vote republican again until I see at least 6 things happen in the G.O.P.:
I'm not holding my breath.
Where The Money Go?
You are being used like toilet paper if you vote G.O.P. The people you elected robbed our social security funds. That's why you are borrowing money from China (click here). About half of health care costs occur in the population over 65 covered by medicare. That money was spent and it is gone.
People are screaming about medicare and Obama Care when that isn't even close to the real problem. Congress squandered your $2.5 Trillion social security trust fund fighting -
Now ask why national debt increased as soon as President Obama took office (click here).
Bush emptied the social security trust fund before the recession began in 2007.
The actual problem right now is that lifetime average health care costs is about 15% of income for all of us, which is affordable right now.
The coming problem is that health care costs are increasing at double the rate of inflation, and that won't be affordable 10 years from now.
A big problem for old people that have nothing left to do but vote and go to the doctor.
And it is a problem for schools. The No Child Left Behind program was intended to gut inner city schools to make up these costs.
Dr. Ron Paul and Dr. Rand Paul are both screaming about "evil socialized medicine" and "privatized social security" because physicians are afraid their $300,000/year income will be federally regulated to reduce medicare costs after everybody figures out how social security was robbed.
Don't believe me? It already happened in the European Union. US voters haven't figured out how this works yet because news agencies are uneducated on the topic.
Obama Care is the only game left now that your money has been spent.
Are you aware most of the "burdensome tax increase" mentioned for Obama Care applies to:
Unless you are a millionaire or a health care CEO, you don't pay those costs.
Now tell me why you don't like it.
CA, This is very good. The best explanation for there all out assault on the elderly and Medicare, medicate and SS . When you think of all that happened under the Bush Administration this is more that should make people Furious ! Great post!
I love the idea that latinos will just have to vote for the GOP if Rubio is on the ticket because he's human...is like how women had to vote republican in 2010 because of Palin?
What does Rubio bring in substance to the ticket? What are his accomplishments? What good is he other than his racial identity?
@CA,
I voted for every single President that was elected except this one (which means I voted for Clinton twice). Maybe I'm bitter because I just can't believe that our country would vote for someone with absolutely no Executive experience, just because of the color of his skin. Truth be told, that's what happened and nobody wants to admit it.
We elected a Community Organizer to lead our Nation. What did we think would happen?
@Cynical Citizen,
Don't you see that your arguments are laughable? What did Barack Obama bring to the ticket except the fact that he was Black? Obama did nothing in the Senate. He campaigned for President from the time he got there. How many times did he vote Present? It's just mind boggling how you Lefties keep defending this guy.
So lets get this straight Obama had no expericence which is true and that was bad.... so Rubio having little to no experience as well is good?
So Obama having no experience is bad but Rubio having none isn't bad....I are you sure you'd like to keep that argument? Latinos won't vote for Rubio just because he's latino like blacks for Obama. Guess what the dynamics of the latino community are different unlike african americans they have many differing places of origin Cuba, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Brazil, South America........we like to buddle them as one big group with the same story but they really aren't. Next lets examine this idea that all blacks voted for obama for his race...which is a factor but lets think about this if Obama wasn't on the ticket do you really think the GOP would have got the majority of the black vote? Exactly, this group like latinos votes democrat overwhelmingly to begin with
3 or 4 Latino voters will probably vote for mitt.
Foreheylookout: That many?
The enthusiasm exhibited during President Obama's speech and the lack thereof during Mr. Romney's says no.
no because the latino's are alot smarter than the repukes give them credit for. just compare the responses robmey got( quiet) and what obama got (loud).
Billie, good evening. What amazes me is Romney has Roots in Mexico and he tells them they can deport there selves. What a pathetic person he is.
good evening to you too pam. all i can say is that as long as the idiot repukes keep saying and doing stupid things the more obama's popularity grows.
Billie i agree that Romney opens his mouth and out comes stupid. I think if this was a good old fashion election Romney would not have snow balls Chance in hell of getting elected . But the Supreme Court changed democracy in America when they said corporations are human. The money and the insanity of the people who would buy him as there own personnel president has made me wonder are they really capable of controling everything.
Hey Pam-Hey TM, Hey Kathe , Hey Hope--Hey Every one
Hey, Rachael......same here!
Hey TM, Can't impress enough on you to get the book, DO NOT ASK WHAT GOOD WE DO, BY DRAPER. I got it on Amazon but your library could order it if they don't have it.
wow. I am serious. wow.
I put up a link on a few of the things in the book but it got dumped. I don't know why.
As I said in an earlier post, the S.FL Cubans will always vote Republican. I was in S.FL during the Elian Gonzales ordeal. I had Cuban friends. Thy swallow the Communist/socialist Obama theory like their dark, thick, sweet coffee.
They have been fed that story by the GOP and their parents for years. Rubio is so typical of the way they think. They are real different from other Hispanic/Latino groups. WAY different. I liked them very much personally, but politically, forget it.
Romney sealed his fate at the debate when he said they could DEPORT themselves. They will not vote for any one under the Republican banner, Lets count them, Arizona "SHOW ME THE PAPERS" Florida purged from voting and Romney told them to go back to Mexico where a corupt goverment is as inhumane as it gets with beating and torture a dirty secret that many are not talking about yet! The Republican Party and Mitt Romney can not play nice when they have shown they could careless about a Latino!
Indeed to the back of the line yourself senor!
NoLimitSoldier50,
U R funny.
Joke.
d issa should be convicted of treason , he's a disrace, keep wasting our tax dollars , making an ass of himself , just so he can be on tv,
He should be convicted of WAY more than treason. That's just the latest in a long line of Issa's criminal dealings.
Issa is a convicted criminal. If his record has not been expunged, he may be committing voter fraud. Now wouldn't that be a hoot. Too bad the dems do not have the spine to investigate that. The republicans will never investigate one of their rabid, radical extremist bros.
Ditto.
Gotta love KKKalifornia voters.
Hi GreatGran!
The Dems are too busy trying to do the work of the People. The "Do Nothing" Congress, well now we know what they do on our dime. Besides chasing dollars for their next campaign, they waste *our* time on witch hunts.
GeorgeShanks, Right, Issa is a bad guy with a long record of illegal activity and is a known liar. He is probably a psychopath and has no qualms about bringing false charges against Holder. He got this conspiracy theory from Michael Vanderboegh, a whack job of the highest order, a racist, and a rabble- rouser who hates the president. He is an Alabaman. You can check him out on the internet. He likes to incite violence. The GOP actually went with his gun conspiracy idea.
Obama has never been against the 2nd amendment! That's the crazy part.
Kathe, Get the book, DO NOT ASK WHAT GOOD WE DO, By Draper. Wow.
About 30% + will, you have to consider the Latino's who are 2nd generation or better. Someone of Latin decent who's family has been in the US for several generations and achieved the American dream, shouldn't be any more likely to favor democrats then Germans, Russians or any other ethnic background. Also Latino?? what exactly is Latino? Cuban? Brazilian? Spanish? I understand that Mexicans make up the majority of Latino's in the US, and that there is a good percentage who are, or have friends and family who are at risk of being deported if Romney and the republicans get their way. But remember not all, and if you have achieved the American dream [wealth and power] and are not at risk of being deported, your main concern will to hold on to that dream.
If Romney wins a good 70% of us can kiss that dream goodbye.
You may as well ask who are illegal immigrants. There are many that are not from Mexico as well. They are from all over the world.
Why in the world would any Latino want to vote for Mitt? They are not going to vote repuke -- they or their parents left their birth country because of the conditions Mitt & his buddies want to impose! Have never lived under those conditions & don't want to start now!
Catholic nuns in the US are protesting the vatican for supporting republicans.
Why?
Pope, cardinals, bishops and priests want to take away human rights.
Nuns don't like that.
you are absolutely right about the nuns crackhead. the more they get their word out and the more the repukes keep on acting like they are, the better for all of us
CA, S.FL Cubans ALWAYS vote GOP. I never knew one who didn't.
Why would Latinos vote for a guy who wants them to self-deport.
Mitt Romney should self deport because he is an anchor baby (click here).
How did gw/cheney answer the questions of 9/ll.....behind closed doors and holding hand.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VV2qK2tIHrc&feature=related
Collection for a one way tickets to Europe ?
Mitt Romney has been bought and paid for by 'his' billionaires. What makes ANYONE think they would allow him to pass the DREAM ACT once in office? These guys are SO far right the Republican Party aren't even on the same page as them...but continue to vote GOP not wanting to see it.
mego, It is so puzzling. They've managed to go right of Hitler! Of course they won't pass the dream act. They killed it in 2010 with a filibuster!
The Republicans aren't on the same page with anyone making under half a million a year. They serve THEMSELVES! They care NOTHING for the poor and very little for the middle class. In fact, all their policies show this, as well as utter contempt for the poor and vulnerable among us.
If they are Christians, they haven't been listening to the most asked question of Jesus, "What have you done for the poor?"
hell no amigos :)
Esta verdad Saluda.
Damn right, romney no, never, can't!
I don't think any one should ever vote for Romney, except maybe the ones who have bought and paid for him,. However there will be some from every race, and every class that will vote for him, even though it goes against their best interest.
racheael, you are so right about that
hello Billie---how are you tonight.--This election has so much money being pushed into it by the crooked right wing cronies, they will buy a lot of votes from people of all races. Some people will sell their soul if the price is right.
*
XXX - What happened ? Did your dog take off with your keyboard again ?
RACHAEL - They would have to pay me first, but then who I vote for is none of their business. I would just take the money and run before I vote for Romney.
So true.
