Yes. Republicans are not doing anything to take America forward , instead doing everything to stalemate the country. They want to abolish everything President Obama has done and thus are planning to take the country even further 4 years backward. That is no leadership. We compromise and settle in a democratic society, not just obstruct on everything.

On his way out the door, Vice President Dick Cheney has admitted that he approved of waterboarding and other "enhanced interrogation techniques." Not only does he admit it, but he admits it proudly in an attempt to cement his place in the history of Bush torture policies.
The Bush administration has left behind a legacy of war, death and destruction unparalleled in recent history. It has violated both national and international laws, as well as the Geneva Conventions. As Americans, we must hold our own elected officials to the same standards that we hold the rest of the world to.
While Dick Cheney will tell you that waterboarding and other torture techniques have saved American lives, the exact opposite is true. The stories about and pictures of Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo have served to turn more people in these war-torn areas against us.
It is time to demand that the Obama administration appoint a Special Prosecutor to conduct a thorough investigation of Bush administration war crimes that results in an indictment of the guilty parties. "I think it was a ploy at self-glorification," he said. "When the OIG report came out and said, 'Hey, ATF, you're failing miserably,' I think they decided to prove him wrong. They said, 'I'm going to get the big fish, and how do you like me now?' "

The GOP is after Eric Holder for his going after the voter ID laws, the anti-immigration laws and the DOMA. Holder is investigating all these policies of the extreme right. This is their main reason for trying to discredit him (and Obama with him, of course) to prevent his finding their policies illegal. Additionally, it may get in the way of their vote to keep student loan rates from doubling. They care too much for education to let THAT happen, right? Wrong.
This was an idea begun in 2007 by the Bush's attorney general, Michael Mukasey. It was a terrible failure and the Obama administration, under Holder, ended it. This will backfire on the GOP as they will find out the truth of the failure and where the fault actually lies: At the feet of GWB.

Apparently, FOX 'News' and the NRA have been promoting a conspiracy theory connecting Holder, President Obama and F&F as a Democratic plot to destroy the Second Amendment, by having the ATF deliberately promoting the sales of automatic weapons to Mexican mobsters... The gun violence on the border would escalate, leading to an upswell in the demands by Progressive Communist Democrats for the repeal of the right to bear arms... This theory completely ignores that F&F was developed by the Bush administration, and when Holder found out about it, he ordered it shut down...
Darryl Issa is looking for a 'smoking gun' memo (pardon the pun) that proves this insane conspiracy really exists... When Holder 'refuses' to produce this non-existant evidence, that Issa is convinced exists, Issa finds Holder in contempt...

President Obama is a very intelligent man, and he knows the law. Although it remains to be seen, I just don't believe he would compromise his principles or his presidency for any reason. Rohrabacher told the news media in a statement that he has written a letter to Manhattan federal trial judge Michael Mukasey, Bush's nominee to replace Alberto Gonzales as US Attorney General, demanding that upon confirmation Mukasey conduct an unbiased review of the agents' prosecution.
"Given the close personal relationship between the prosecuting US Attorney Johnny Sutton, former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and President Bush, past requests for inquiries into prosecutorial misconduct in this case have been ignored," Rohrabacher claimed in his statement.
"Conflicting statements made by Mr. Sutton during Senate testimony in July and to the press have yet to be clarified," Rohrabacher continued, "and newly obtained information regarding the treatment of the officers in solitary confinement for the last 10 months reveals conditions that are harsh and unnecessarily punitive in nature."

I think it already did. The GOP base is stupid enough to take what they say as the absolute truth but the majority of Americans are not. If the GOP really wanted to do what is right they would have done it already.
