Columbia University professor Frederick Harris believes President Obama has all but abandoned the African-American community.
He debated his point with Dr. James Peterson, Director of Africana Studies and Associate Professor of English at Lehigh University, and Michael Eric Dyson on last night's show.

Saw this professor yesterday and basically imho, he's selling his book and need publicity. He's a bombthrower that wants a name for himself and he's not saying anything that the black community has not already heard from Travis Smiley and the other haters. Everyone has suggestion, but they are sitting in the passenger seat and do not have to deal with a congress of the scardy-cat democrats, the obstinate republicans, Fox "news", Rush and the crazies. So good luck with your book dude and like everyone else with opinions, we all have some just as valid.
Well obama's mama is white as snow....
Obama is actualy half white so in reality he is not 100% black. However since his daddy was actualy from Africa it would be correct to say Obama is the first African American President.
What is this, some kind of Black Birther hogwash?
Come on man...what are you talking about? Considering all that this nation has been through and especially what our ancestors have gone through you have the nerve to introduce what I ...an African American....deem to be black on black racism. The President is The President of the UNITED States. His job calls for him to work for ALL Americans as well as LEAD the leaders of other nations which is very difficult to do. He doesn't need this nonsense. He is advancing the cause of African Americans by his policies that affect every American. I don't care if the Prez was pink and purple with zebra striped eyes....as long as he's doing a good job that advances not only civil rights issues but issues which affect our daily lives like jobs, healthcare etc....what do you want from him...to be like Malcolm X, Marcus Garvey, Jessie Jackson and Martin Luther King? You very well know that our white brothers and sisters are still intimidated by us African Americans to some degree and if the Prez begin to speak and act like a civil rights leader or too black....they would run him out of Washington...and they're trying to do that now. You have the right as all of us to agree or not agree but to demean the man by implying he's not black IS OFFENSIVE....GROW UP and your credentials mean nothing if you don't have common sense. Lighten up brutha!!!!!
I hate to see people like Dyson try to claim that "african american issues" are poverty, drug addition and under education. Does this fool not realize in doing so he is just re-enforcing stereotypical false narratives. Addiction, poverty and education are american issues balck or white has no importance nor bearing, it's irrelavent.
Now as to whether Obama is "black" or not, he is most accurately described as multiracial or mixed. Obama is not black, Obama is not white. He is both and there's nothing wrong with saying that as it is true. In my opinion I think the need to see him as purely an african american "leader" is rooted in the nation's desire to not accept interracial individuals. Turn on the tv and count how many interracial couples in ads or commercials you see....the result may be a tad bit interesting.....
Furthermore it is undeniable that in the american lexicon "black" intrinsically implies descendant from centuries of slavery and oppression. So no, in this case Obama is not half black, he is half kenyan. So he isn't exactly black in the most common use of the term.
Technically Dave Mathews last I checked is African American since he's from south africa.....so just think about that
I's prefer to just think of him as the current President. In a perfect world, race shouldn't factor in to anything. That sadly includes things like poverty and drug addiction. I've seen people of all races struggle with those issues. It's not exclusive to any one group.
Looking for his 10 seconds of fame. Probably only people who have heard of him are his family, friends and students of Columbia University. Now he has his ten seconds of fame. Now shut up.
Maybe he should accept that all black people are not his idea of what a black person should be. And be happy Obama made it.
That's all Obama needs. Racism from blacks now.
well ya can't say Obama plays the race card....my word....at least Obama ain't runnin around saying he's a brother from another mother.
let's see, Romney would respond.....we let em in in the 70's....see we ain't prejudiced. they can buy undies tooooooo..........
Obama is 50% black but this guy is all 1%
Petition/FOX NEWS (FAKE)

amazing huh xxx ooo? I guess if the pres was all white he'd be for blacks. what next? Obama ain't teapub enough?????????
Just because you have education doesn't make you smart. I guess jobs, education, healthcare, ending the war, aren't black folks issues. That guy was looking for his 15 minutes of fame, was he pushing a book? Why waste our time with people like that . If their was a Japanese American who was elected President, the first thing someone like that guy would say is you were elected President of the United States, not of the Japanese American people.
