With an economic crisis facing Europe, President Obama wants Congress to act on shoring up U.S. jobs force before it's too late.
The Obama plan would help boost public sector jobs, which are greatly needed.
Since Obama was elected, the public sector has lost a net of 600,000 jobs. The unemployment rate would be seven-point-eight percent with those jobs added.

Public sector job losses remain the drag on the national economy. While private sector growth has continued uninterrupted, government jobs continue to be in the red.

This is just further proof that a cuts only strategy will not work. While Congress needs to clean up the tax code, getting rid of all the loopholes and tax expenditures in the form of subsidies, then re-prioritize to determine what tax expenditures are a good deal for the taxpayers too, before deciding how scarce finances, after mandatory funding has been accounted for, should be expended on discretionary programs. Funding to the states needs to be part of the mix, as much as is feasible.
However, given the sluggish recovery of the US economy, and the fact that public sector job losses further inhibit that recovery. If the business owners are going to continue increasing retained earnings, or otherwise not utilize their income in any useful way, then it's incumbent upon government to raise their taxes so that states would get the necessary funding to rehire public employees, and help broaden the tax base.
And, even if we didn't need the increased public revenue for public hiring, the federal government still needs extra revenue to help pay down the deficit. Austerity is a recipe for disaster, in either the public or private sectors. Once Main Street America has recovered, the Middle Class is flourishing again, and can drive demand for products sufficiently that business owners must create more jobs to assuage the increased demand, then the federal government will genuinely be in a position to downsize, but that is a task that requires wisdom and compassion too.
Putting people on the government payroll is not the answer.
It takes tax payer money to pay them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
W. bush demonstrated during his presidency that limited gov't was not a part of his plan, along with all of the repubs in washington. w. bush didn't veto a single bill.
repubs LOVE putting people on the gov't payroll, AS LONG AS IT FITS WITH THEIR AGENDA.
As of 03/2012 just over 3 million people work for the Federal government.
12/2008 2.7 million on the Federal payroll..
www2.census.gov
Don't let the facts get in the way now!!!
Suzette, you are correct in this. Most libs get on here and state Bush gave the veto to everything the dems sent him. In reality, he seldom used the veto.
rusty,
and i am also correct when i say that from 2001 to 2006, bush did not veto any appropiations bills passed by the republican congress. these included hikes for defense, homeland security, ENTITLEMENTS, EDUCATION, AND THOUSANDS OF SPECIAL INTEREST ITEMS (earmarks).
i believe the first veto we got from bush was for stem cell research in the summer of 2006. other than that, w. did not veto any spending bills until the democrats took control ( sidenote: this is also when the # of filibusters began to rise from the repub party). he vetoed ONLY democratic bills, NEVER REPUB BILLS. thats what caused this financial disaster we find ourselves in.
Yep. Bush did whatever congress wanted for the most part, regardless of party power. In essence, he was a Keynesian on the economy.
for the first six years when bush had a super majority, he vetoed nothing. only when the democrats took the house and senate did he start to veto, he VETOED ONLY DEMOCRATIC BILLS. i don't know about you, but i find this rather hypocritical after all the damage he and his party caused. when he had a super majority, there wasn't a bill he didn't love.
he gave the repubs whatever they wanted.
not true with the democrats.
bush vetoed only democratic bills, because he dislikes democrats more than he dislikes big REPUB gov't.
I find it interesting that you say bush had a super majority yet you seem to follow the crowd here when they defend Obama because he only had ( argument over 57 to 60 in the senate). Now be honest- can you see just the slightest double standard here in your thought process?
no, rusty, i can't see any double standard in my thought process.
the reason for that is, as much as it hurts me to admit it, that even though democrats disliked W. bush, they gave him what he wanted. even though the bush campaign in 2000 sent protestors to florida to stop the count so that daddy's friends, the supreme court, would step in and annoint w. president, even though he won the presidency by trickery and deceit, THE DEMOCRATS STILL WORKED WITH W. BUSH. as pissed off as they were about his campaign's dis-honesty and theft of the election, they still knew they had to get stuff done for the american people.
IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH W. BEING A LEADER. it had to do with the democratic party's desire to get stuff done. repubs don't care about getting stuff done, or about WHAT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE WANT. they just want a repub in the white house who can sign his name, as grover norquist the muslim said.
as a general rule, democrats will work with repubs, but not the other way around. the last 3.5 years are proof of that.
i get a headache having the same discussion with you all. you refuse to see what is right in front of you.
bohner, cantor, mcconnell, kyl. they all held the debt ceiling hostage, but voted in may of 2003, in nov of 2004, in march of 2006, and sept of 2007 to approve the debt ceiling. not one democrat held it hostage. i believe we will be in for another hostage taking the next time the debt ceiling is due to be raised.
you be honest-why did bush only veto democratic bills, and give repubs free reign? the first 6 years of the bush presidency (w. and the repub party) caused the economic meltdown, and the financial crisis we are facing today.
Still comes back to the point you think bush had super majority, yet he had nowhere close to Obama's numbers. You also forget that the GOP went along with Obama as well until he showed how much of an amateur he was. You can justify in your mind and words what the differences are, but in the end, you are guilty of the same patterns you accuse the other side of.
how did the repub party "go along" with President Obama until he showed......?
please be specific with several examples.
in regard to bush's "super majority"- as a general rule, bush could count on ALL REPUBS to vote the way he wanted them to, he could also count on the blue dogs.
democrats have never had that "reliability". democrats have never been in lockstep the way the repubs are now.
.
.
Well, starters, there was the stimulus package. You remember it, within a month of being elected, Obama clailmed that if they passed his bill intact, he could keep unemployment below 8%. There was the Lily Ledbetter Act, Cash for Clunkers, and quite a few others. You can look at Obama bills on wikipedia to see a complete list. I won't type them all out.
Now, Obama, with his super majority... screwed it all away.
As well, Suzette, I opened several of the bills passed in the first half of 2009, and find it funny that you would claim democrats don't vote in lockstep, but the GOP does. Seemed that the sample I pulled all had 100 percent democrats voting yea, and the GOP was split in each case. Methinks you've been listening to too much msnbc to be reality based. Just cause Ed says it doesn't make it true.
We need to raise the banks interest rates and put forth the Presidents jobs bill. Get the money moving, people and banks are afraid of default and this fear is paralysing the economy. There has been talk about going to another form of monetary system. But it shouldn't be money printed and controlled by governments or investors that's how we got in this mess. A gold standard world wide is maybe a way to do this.BTY Greece what ever it does will have very little effect on the US or the world.
http://rt.com/programs/keiser-report/episode-296-max-keiser/
http://www.onlygold.com/tutorialpages/All_The_Gold_In_The_World.asp
Very cool site very interactive.
Raise the banks interest rates ! What kind of stupid comment is that. Raise those rates and your loan rates will go up - duh.
Raising the prime rate will not effect already in place loans, only new ones.
And it needs to happen, banks can't make any money with these next to ZERO rates.
Next it keeps private money from comeing into the market place.
One of the main reasons we are in this mess in the 1st palce is due in part to "cheap" money.
If those in Washington had any brains at all they make sure that the price of oil the main driver of the prices in all world economies would be much lower, Though gas/oil prices are dropping its said its because of a slowdown in the economy. I say yes to some degree as we have seen in the last year there are many factors to it. Obama asked the Saudis if they would cover any shortage! Well no shortage and only a glut and lower prices. But just what did the President say to the Saudis to get them to pump more? OPEC really controls the price of oil and the Saudis have the biggest say. Did Obama say to them "If we go into default your future is in peril" Not like GWB grovelling on hands and knees. I really do expect to see the price of oil to keep falling and that in itself will give the economy a real boost! You see if he US can't be a world cop in the middle east Iran would in Saudi Arabia in a New York minute. So when you ask who has leadership and who hasn't well...
The price of oil is going down, now is it the sepulators doing it?
I mean when the price heads up all you liberals cry foul and blame the dudes in the trading pits.
Yet when it comes down you have no answers..
It is called "supply & demand"..
And global demand for oil is down, that means a slow down in the world economy.
And here in this country when gas prices should be going up for the summer driving season, they are going down due to less demand.
That means less people are driving.
And that would indicate the economy is slowing down.
They (Republicans) blamed President Obama for gas going up, are they going to blame him for gas prices going down? WOW I have not heard a word.
Mamaline know that the average republican is sadly to disconnected from reality to actual speak with credibility on gas. Fools like Stupidita will spin and take things out of context. The righties will complain when people say the people drilling and trading oil are the main factor on price as if this is about the moral or ethics...blah blah on speculators. It has zero to do with going after speculators, there are things government can do to help keep the price more level or less volatile so it's not swinging drastically upward and then crashing down, but this isn't about what they do. No one is going after them.
Dr. Stupid forgets it is the right who said that the rise in gas prices was caused by the president as if he controls the price of oil. So now when prices are down their logic dictates that the president would also have a hand in that if he can make prices go up. So it's the right wing morons who said presidents control gas in the first...what a dumb concept....lol
So they are just admitting that either Obama has a hand in lowering prices or that their whole premise bs, can only one of the other. Pick one narrative to have fake outrage over.
It's funny how few right wingers understand the concept of causality......republicans say the darndest things don't they
Big Eddie just doesn't get it. Only a financial idiot like Obama would want to borrow more money from China to run up our debt to create jobs that don't help the economy. Fix the economy and jobs will come.
So if you have a job ask yourself this? Are you making much more money than you where before Obama took office?
If you don't have a job ask yourself this WHY? Obama didn't create the Wall Street mess but he is trying to make it so it will never happen again. But because of obstruction measures to STOP this haven't been set in place and they are doing the same exact thing they where doing to make it happen. We took one BIG punch but we can't take another. So if you like what the GOP wants I must tell you that the darkness and nasty smell and that feeling like you need to take a dump.....
FYI China hasn't been lending the US anything for sometime now....Doesn't FOX news keep you up to date or is it that you can't listen because your head is up your.....
Wages have been stagnate over the past 3 years..
Over 12 million out of work.
Over 40 million on food stamps.
Obama is the 1st president in history to spend over $1 trillion tax payer dollars every year in office!!!!!
It ain't working!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If republicans in congress weren't so focused on obstructionism the economy would be climbing out of the hole Bush created at a much better pace. Bush nearly doubled our debt and drove the country into deep recession. Instead of trying to help, all the the republicans want is to prevent Obama's reelection. No matter how hard it gets for the average American.
31 bills sent from the house to the senate for debate and none have been read.
And which party controls the senate again???
Republicans can't read???
What President Bush did was run up the debt and break the economy. There is no flexibility in the interest rates because his policies forced the fed to reduce rates to zero to try restart a stalled engine. No luck, because he dug the hole too deep. Revenues from taxes are at historic lows thanks to his tax policies, debt is even worse than it seemed because he ran both wars off the books and failed to pay for Medicare Part D. All in all, he proved that the US economy is the modern wonder of the world, even his thoughtless policies couldn't dismantle it. Of course, he did want to privatize Social Security, if we would have been stupid enough to go along with that unfunded mandate, even the stimulus President Obama so wisely insisted upon wouldn't have righted the ship.
I agree with part of your statement.
This is and always has been the problem. The Fed is engaged in price fixing with regard to interest rates. This was happening long before Bush came along.
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970204346104576637290931614006.html
stupid,
your post #5.2-
Obama is the 1st president...to spend...a trillion....dollars...in office.
President Obama is paying w. bush's debt. as iowaserf said above bush ran both wars (one of them illegal) off the books, and put medicare part D on the credit card, along with other things. the same month bush invaded iraq (MARCH OF 2003), pulling troops from the tora bora mountains in afghanistan where they had bin laden in their sites, HE SIGNED THE SECOND PART OF THE BUSH TAX CUTS INTO LAW. when has the united states ever gone to war without raising taxes to pay for THAT WAR?
oh, yeah. in 2003 for bush's illegal, based on lies, cooked the books iraqi war.
What would the unemployment rate be if we counted the people no longer looking for work? Funny, the article does not mention that. 600,000 is a good start, but we need to cut a lot more pub. sect. jobs than that.
"Before its too late:" What the hell has BHO been doing the last four years?
More then what the GOP has been doing for the last 34 years.
President Obama did his responsibility by sending a Jobs Bill to congress. He has been doing the people's business of sending a JOBS bill to congress, that's what he has been doing.
The republicans have been hiding the bills and refusing to do their responsibilities by acting on these bills.. Republicans are telling lies everyday ~
Republicans have abdicated their responsibilities and should be put out of their jobs and their pensions ( No more pensions for public workers as they say)
Obama/Biden 2012 Forward for Decency
And who controls the senate????
Not the republicans..
The house has sent 31 bills to the senate and reid and his dummies have yet to read one of them.
Those bills passed the house with democats voting YES on them!!!!!
Furthmore no democrate voted for obama's jobs bill
Would help if you could state the facts not just what you want to say.
stupidita...sometimes it really seems as if these people are the results of government run education systems...oh wait, they are.
Never mind...
just saying...
Says the guy who hangs out at free republic.
Obama has been trying to get the Republicans to let bills that would boost our economy be passed..These were not all jobs bills....
The Democratic congress has tried to get bills passed that would close loop holes for the rich that would bring in billions to the treasury....
The Democratic Congress has tried to stop subsidizing large corporations who's profits where in the trillions....This includes the big oil companies that are given free no payback subsidize for doing what they have to do everyday just to keep their company working on a daily and weekly bases...
The Democratic congress tried to put regulations on the big banks and Wall street that is stealing us blind.....Did you know that J.C. Morgan who lost 3 billion dollars in one day, a few weeks ago, is now under a congressional hearing....WHY
Many of you heard the media BS....Now hear the truth and go find out for your self....go to your state food stamp location online..look up at the browser.....DAH, DAH, DAH....there is J.C Morgan...They handle all the Federal and State food stamp money...And they lost it gambling on line with risky investments...
TO MANY PEOPLE ON FOOD STAMPS THE GOVERNMENT CAN'T AFFORD..CUT BACK , CUT BACK, tHESE PEOPLE ON FOOD STAMPS ARE DROWNING OUR GOVERNMENT IN DEBT ....
The thieves on Wall Street are stealing our tax money.
The Democratic congress has been trying to get legislation passed and criminal charges brought against big bankers on Wall Street, but the Republicans will not allow the passage of any Democratic Bills...what is good and right for this country has nothing to do with the Romney and GOP agenda.
Did you know that J.C. Morgan who lost 3 billion dollars in one day
First it is JP Morgan not JC. next it was 2 billion not 3, and it did not happen in one day.
Furthermore it was "their" money not the customers..
Next the house which has both republicans & democrats have sent no less than 31 bills to the senate, and reid and his clowns have yet to read one of them.
And just so you know, Congress is both the house & the senate...
It's not enough to hold a majority in the senate these days since the republicans will filibuster.
The "filibuster" works for both parties...
Maybe you should take some time and learn how the American form of Government works.
Sure Stupid...
Whatever you say.
Stupida, once again you fail to acknowledge the facts. How many Democratic filibusters have there been in the last 6 years? Maybe it's you that needs to learn how government works. It hasn't since the GOP took over the house.
Larry knows you can't filibuster a budget bill. He knows it only takes a majority. That 50 votes will pass it. That said, Larry, how close did Obama's budget come to getting 50 votes in the senate? Do you recall how what the vote was? Or do you just want me to remind you that the stupid republicans voted against it in lockstep. Causing the senate vote to narrowly fail, 99-0. How can the leader of the country not be able to get 1 vote?
You can filifbuster any bill.
Wow larry74,
You're actually right about something for a change. There are ways around the filibuster though. The Affordable Health Care Act was passed through "budget reconciliation" which is filibuster-proof. Also, budget/spending resolutions are filibuster-proof because they are non-binding and are just general guidelines.
Bills are binding and therefore subject to being filibustered.
For one thing the "filibuster" has been around sense the days of Rome!!!
In the US senate it allows for as senator to keep the debate going.
It takes 60 votes in the Senate to pass a bill.
The democrates use it just like the republicans do...
So stop with that line of Bull$hit...
Next what about the 31 bills passed by the house that the senate has yet to read??
What so do you call that?
@Stupidita,
I call it Senate Democrat obstructionism. I think Harry Reid is afraid that some of those bills will actually pass and Obama won't know what to do. He will either have to sign or veto them. He can't vote present anymore.
So says the guy who just can't grasp the fact that oil companies can drill from now until dooms day and he will never see oil products decrease for him because oil companies can not be forced to sell oil products to the US consumer.
Larry, normally, budget bills are reconciliations and debate is limited. Now, would you care to discuss why zero republicans voted for Obama's budget? Shhh. Don't any tell him the catch here. Let him wade in unawares. Fore and whom may also have opinions.
@whomitmay,
If your comment was directed at me, I have no idea what you are talking about. You are so incoherent, no one can understand you. You'll have to elaborate.
Drill- whom is very similar to a turnip when logic is required. Put her on ignore.
Logic to rusty wait rusty doesn't have logic she has Reagan talking points that she hasn't stopped repeating since Reagan first said them, thats rustys logic in a nut shell, someday the talking points will come true if I keep clicking my heels and keep repeating I am one of the 1% over and over and over. Poor rusty she's caught up in fairy tale land.
Once again whomitmay,
Your ramblings are incoherent.
drill if you had an opinion that would be ranked right up there with Jonah living inside a whale. Instead your opinion is nothing more then republican fairy tales.
@whomitmay,
What Republican fairy tales are you referring to? You are not being very coherent.
Drinking problems I see. Don't worry I'm sure the police have your cot ready.
The only reason the parties are pointing fingers at each other is because neither of them have a solution.
It's completely irrelevant and ineffective to assign blame for what's happening at this point.
Sorry that nobody wants to face the truth. Just keep bickering about who is to blame while our country goes right off the cliff.
Well to bad for you that Ron Paul took the GOP check and ran away..............again.
Too bad this problem has nothing to do with Ron Paul and everything to do with this crook. There is a special place in hell for this guy.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=-mLBP8LLmCc#!
Don't think for a minute it's coincidental that Bernanke was the chairman of the Federal Reserve during Dubya's term when the economy started to tank and currently holds that position under Obama's administration as well.
So instead of scratching your heads wondering why nothing is improving, maybe you all should start placing the blame at the true source of all of this. Failed monetary policy that operates far outside the influence of either side of the aisle. Until this problem is fixed, nobody including Obama can do anything to improve our fiscal situation.
Well of course Mittens is a crook that is all the GOP is known for crooks, from Nixon to Mittens they have been nothing but a bunch of corrupted criminals.
And once again you have chosen to ignore the facts and spin this into GOP evil when the proof is right under your nose that it's Bernanke and the Fed that is and always has been responsible for the bulk of these problems.
That you choose to ignore the fact that Obama nominated Bernanke even after he was primarily responsible for this disastrous monetary policy under Bush is proof that Obama is serving the exact same central banking interests as George Bush.
No the proof is you asre a fact free republican supporter trying to prove to yourself that you are indeed smarter then a 5th grader and you fail. How do we know this because you ignore just who set up the GOP system of enriching the already wealthy.
Woodrow Wilson, a Democrat, signed the Federal Reserve Act into law in 1913. The federal reserve is a private banking cartel that serves the interests of wealthy people you hate so much.
You're really embarrassing yourself with your ignorance here.
So Herbert Hoover tanked the economy in 1929 and started the great depression with trickle down nonsense. The difference is democrats learned from their mistakes made in 1913. Whereas yo republicans tripled down on your stupidity.
Stupidity is calling me a Republican just because I disagree with your leftist delusions.
You are what you post and all you post are republican talking points. Sorry but when you lay with pigs don't whine when you are called a swine.
LOL that's because you think anyone who disagrees with you in your small mind is doing so with Republican talking points.
It's pretty much ALL you say and it has no basis in any sort of truth whatsoever.
Just because you want to stuff me into your little narrow minded category doesn't make me part of it.
Wrong again your posts are almost the exact same as storms and every other tea bagging republican who posts here with the same misinformation and bigotries. About the only change is the words you use, but your supposedly sources are the same as well as the content of your posts. The only one who doesn't see it appears to be you.
stupid,
your post #6.3-
it was NOT a jobs bill that was voted down 99-0, it was a BUDGET VOTE.
your post # 6.15-
you're right, the filibuster is used by both parties. but since 2007 when Nancy Pelosi became Speaker, the repubs started increasing the # of filibusters. then, when Obama became President, the # of filibusters increased again, repubs using the filibuster as THEIR WAY OF LEGISLATING.
please read the following post to rusty.
Suzette- yes- it was Obama's budget bill that got zero votes in the Senate. It got the same number in the House. Would you care to express your opinion as to why Obama's budget proposal was so idiotic that not even his supporters could vote for it?
Could it be that the GOP congress tacked on riders that ensured the bill wouldn't be passed because it would have hurt retirees, why no in rusty land it is all Obama's fault.
Suzette, I know you're on here. Not a single vote? Democrat controlled senate? Every number representing Obama's plan? Not a single democrat could point out anything in it that wasn't Obama's.
That's but one example of his arrogance matched with incompetence.
The only ones incompetent are the GOP who have never balanced a budget in the last 80 years. In fact all the GOP managed to do was outspend each other for the last 34 years. Funny how rusty never whines about GOP spending and deficits, its always the democrats fault, typical.
if whom is advocating the tea party, it would be the first intelligent thing she has done in years, mabey ever. But, I'll warn you- sometimes she types with zero thought. I suspect she is just driveling and isn't smart enough to realiize she is backing the tea party.
Oh...you mean during the time period where about 60% of the time the Democrats have been in control of the HOR?
That lie don't fly. No matter how many times you repeat the lie it will never be a fact so stop trying to make your lies into facts, that only works at free republic.
Please explain how that is a lie. It is easily researchable..
For once in your life, behave like a grown up and actually prove me wrong...
just saying...
You never been right all you do is repeat free republic posts full of nonsense and propaganda. Your whole argument amounts to saying you are always right and no matter how many times you prove me wrong I'm right because I don't accept your proof of my wrongness.
Over 8% unemployment for the past 3 1/2 years now...
Over 40 million o food stamps.
Over 12 million out of wrok.
Small banks clsoeing in record numbers.
Small business closeing.
But according to whom, that is a line of BULL......
LOL denial is a bitch isn't it?
Well you should know chi you are one of the biggest deniers we have ever seen disgrace themselves on the vine so far. And nice lame tactic take post out of context, typical loser behavior.
No matter how many times I prove you're wrong, you're right (in your own mind.)
Congratulations on saying the most idiotic thing I've ever seen on this forum. This truly is one of your greatest hits.
Chit your really headstrong please wiggle your ears again?
Kids today think that Bush's full name is "Bush's Fault"..
Every talking head liberal on TV keeps beating that dead horse..
Sooner or later obama will have to take responsibility for the economy....
After over 3 years in office this is now his baby...
Not our job to "prove you wrong". It's your job to prove you're right. You're just not smart enough to know what the process is.
Dude I post numbers from the bls.gov, irs.gov, 2census .gov..
Next when a person deals in facts & truth one never has to prove anything.
You on the other hand deal in 1/2 truths & propaganda from the leftwingnut media machine.
The very fact you can not show the numbrs I post to be wrong,is proof that what post is in fact the facts and very true.
Republicans like to tell a big whopper about how much of the deficit is Obama's. They claim that the deficit was $10 trillion when Obama started and is $15 trillion now, blaming Obama for $5 trillion. But $4 trillion of that is Bush's. Obama put on the books about $4 trillion of spending for the two wars in the MidEast and Medicare Advantage D. These are GW Bush's unfunded expenditures. They are not Obama's. All Obama did was put them on the books. Obama explained this in Febuary 2009 when he did it. You can read about it in the New York Times from then.
Which Presidents increased the deficit the most? According to the U.S. Treasury Dept.
Reagan 189%...GH Bush 55%...B Clinton 37%...GW Bush 115%...B Obama 16%.
The problem with the right wing is to fail to understand the implications of how awful the Bush administration was for America. Government spending has grown at the slowest rate since Eisenhower's administration at 1.4% under President Obama. Ronald Reagan had growth rates in spending much higher than President Obama. The two war in Iraq and Afghanistan will add at least $4 trillion to the national debt. The Bush tax cuts of 2001 and 2003 also have added trillions more to the national debt. Besides Bush doubling the national debt he essentially had put President Obama in a straight jacket of trillion dollar plus budget deficits for many years of his term. The 2008 recession, was largely caused by GOP deregulation of the Wall Street investment banks.
Repeal of the Glass-Steagall act was a watershed piece of legislation pushed by the GOP's Graham-Leach-Bliley Act of 1999. The two wars and the many trillions more dollars wasted on the Bush tax cuts have starved the government of needed revenue that will hurt our competitiveness in the global economy. Republicans need to remember whose policies drove America into a ditch. The policies of supply side economics and and two wars funded by borrowing are the reason the country is still in a such a slow recovery. Republicans can bitch all they want but they were the cause of this recession by their absurd and selfish policies.
Government spending has grown at the slowest rate since Eisenhower's administration at 1.4% under President Obama.
Ah that is 1.4% of $15 trillion....
Obama has spent over $1 trillion tax payer dollars every year in office.
No president has ever come close to that number.
Glass Steagall was repealed by both parties and Clinton signed it....
Stop blaming every thing under the sun on the republicans.
The 2008 recession, was largely caused by GOP deregulation of the Wall Street investment banks.
Wrong it was the people that stop making their house payments...
How do you think they got to the number of $700 billion for the bail out??
Yeah, those are the talking points that most of the fact checking sites have debunked.
I wonder what constitutes a republican led bill in Minnie's mind? Repeal of said bill was passed through senate by 90-8 vote and signed by Clinton. Minnie, would you explain your line of thought more fully?
@Rex
The rate of Government spending has gone down since the Republicans took over the House in 2010. Government spending under Obama was increased by double digits his first two years.
Said by the fact less trio who just run around repeating the insane rantings of a dead soap salesman.
Indeed whomie if they were told that putting lit firecrackers up your butt was a good idea they would be smarting!
@whomitmay and xxx ooo,
The 1.4% rate of Government spending increase has been debunked by every fact checker in this Nation for the very reasons that I have said. Where's the facts from the two of you?
Why bother, quoting facts to a republican is like telling a dog to stay out of the kitty litter, the dog cocks head, grins and goes right back to eating cat poop, no difference with the republican animals.
@whomitmay,
What?! You can't or won't present any facts to prove your point.
Not when replying to republicans that refuse to hear or read, we know you are not interested in fact or discussion, you just want to run off at the mouth to prove how misinformed you are because the Koch brothers gave you a hotdog and a bus ride to support whomever they tell you to support.
@whomitmay,
So, you are admitting that you don't reply factually when responding to Republican posts?
Twist and spin better be careful before you get dizzy and fall down.
i miss that pinhead that cryed when Walker beat the dummycrat like a stepchild
That is all ed could talk about everyday, the "Recall"...
Now he and the rest of the liberals have egg on their faces.
And his ratings are going down, like the rest of the MSLSD talking heads.
Then in reality republicans are just immature children who are incapable of thinking for themselves.
Say what???
Over 8% unemployment
Over 40 million on food stamps
Over 12 million out of work
I "think" that is just a bit to much, and obama has no answers, except TAXING THE RICH TO DEATH.
What was that did you say something? Oh just more GOP whines. Really all that whine no wonder you haven't had a thought.
So can't handle the facts & truth can you..
Stupidita says"obama has no answers, except TAXING THE RICH TO DEATH".
How is asking to go back to the Clinton tax rate "Taxing the rich to death?
A recent IRS report showed that 20,752 households that reported earning more than $200,000 in 2009 paid ZERO federal income taxes. About 1,500 of those tax-free Americans were millionaires. This is supported in a report by Senator Coburn (Republican) of Oklahoma, 1,500 MILLIONAIRES paid no taxes in 2009 and special tax breaks for them costs us $30,000,000,000 a year in lost revenue. On average, this report found that MILLIONAIRES enjoy benefits from tax giveaways and federal grant programs totaling $30 billion EACH YEAR. Senator Coburn said “This welfare for the well-off – costing billions of dollars a year – is being paid for with the taxes of the less fortunate, many who are working two jobs just to make ends meet, and IOUs to be paid off by future generations".
Mitt Romney is a prime example. His tax rate was 13.9% based on earnings from dividends. a rate much lower than wage earners at 24-36%
The highest income tax bracket is its lowest in 60 years. At 36 percent, it's well below the 50-percent mark of much of the 1980s and the 70-percent bracket of the 1970's and definately below the 90% rate of the Eisenhower 1950's. Claims that the U.S. has the highest tax rates in the industrialized world only look at the 36 percent statutory rate, without factoring in the various loopholes, credits and other subsidies many American companies typically get. Now with offshore tax havens, government subsidies, tax exemptions and rebates, too many pay no tax. 30 of our Fortune 500 corporations paid a negative effective federal income tax rate between 2008 and 2010, while 67 paid less than 10 percent. 12 of the nations largest Fortune 500 companies, while making $170 billion in profits during the period of The Great Recession, paid an effective tax rate of NEGATIVE 1.5%. Not only have these twelve companies paid zero in taxes for the years 2008-2010, they actually received tax subsidies that added $62.4 .
Corporations earn record breaking profits, and pay ZERO federal taxes, but then complain about the high tax rate, depite the fact it is the lowest in decades, and then get away with all sorts of tax loopholes, while receiving corporate welfare via subsidies.
The Republican philosophy insists "the wealthy create the jobs." But history proves otherwise. That's why it's referred to as Voodoo Economics. Job growth under George W. Bush was the lowest since Harry Truman (just three million jobs over its eight years). All in all, our wealthy and corporations have had a whirlwind decade while the middle class continues to disappear. A CBO report found that income for the wealthiest 1 percent of Americans had exploded since 1979, by a whopping 275 percent. In the last year 93% of income went to the top 1%. the Fortune 500 -- the biggest companies in America -- boosted their earnings a whopping 335 percent in the last year. CEO pay has skyrocketed 300% since 1990. CEO pay is now 380X the average worker's, up from 46X from 1980. SO WHERE ARE THE JOBS?
Under Obama's tax plan, the Bush tax cuts would expire, raising taxes for married couples earning more than $212,300 by 3 percentage points, the top 1 percent of income earners would see their taxes go up about 5 percent. Mitt Romney takes a virtually opposite approach to tax reform for the wealthy. His plan not only extends the Bush tax cuts, but further reduces tax rates at all income levels by 20 percent, the top 1 percent of income earners would see their taxes go down by nearly 8 percent.
luv it before the vote the dummycrats on tv said it was a important vote when they got beat like a stepchild they said it wasn't Wi. will be ok now can't wait till Nov. then the US will be ok
Really you think Walker getting the same 53% that put him into office to vote for him in the recall is beating someone? Really you set the bar that low, a beating would have been 54% or more would have come out for Walker, it would have meant that more people voted for Walker then he got the first time around, but that isn't what happened. Gee bad losers and bad winners the GOP just keep proving how bad they are for the US. All Walker showed was that the Koch brothers can buy elections nothing more nothing less, but then tea bagging republicans sold out for a hotdog and a bus ride, really proves why they will never be in the 1%, they sell themselves out real cheap. Like 5 cents pure word they post on left leaning sites, you just made $2.05 for that post, you better get busy.
Walker won by a larger margin this time than he did the 1st time!!!!!!!!
Walker won 53% the union thug got just 46%
That is a good ole fashion azz kicking...
Whom - yes, we actually do consider that "beating" someone - by winning the popular vote (again) and keeping Walker in office. It seems like you are the one setting the bar a bit low, a loss is a loss - no matter the margin. Hopefully Obama loses this November, I would be more than happy to hear you talk about his moral victory and then the excuses you have for his loss.
Don't grade liberals on their results, only their intentions. Haha.
Well good for you that means you graduated from grade K to first grade on an intellect level. Never mind the fact that the GOP bought the election which in reality shows that 53% of the people that voted in Wisconsin were swayed by the Koch Dollar. Gee that sure is beating someone when you buy elections.
Rex, You can't fix stupid. And all the rightie want is more tax cuts and deregulate everything. After all, it's worked so good for the last 10 years.
who in office not the dummy crat
when Osama out spent no-one said nothing
You can't fix stupid
And obama is living proof, and he will be "fixed" in November.
Sorry but I doubt if you know anyone named Osama and I doubt he ever told you his financial business.
hes is the whitehouse
No he isn't we have never had a president named Osama. We did have an insane soap salesman once who couldn't tell reality from the delusions he was having inside his mind, you know kind of like your delusions that we had a president Osama.
Larry, if they are all out of touch with voters, you should initiate a recall and let them decide. Oops, maybe they're not out of touch.
Larry, the more I read what you write, the more I am amazed at how uninformed the followers of big Ed really are. Do you even remember Obama coming out 6 months ago, amid concerns that he has added too many regulations, and he correctly pointed out that he has actually added fewer significant regulations than bush did. I'd agree with you if you claimed that the fact that bush added more regs than anyone was irrelevant to whether Obama has put in too many regs, but either way, it points away from your absurdity. Love to see your response and how it counters Obama's.
rusty sold out for a hotdog and a bus ride. Notice rusty thinks Fox news and free republic makes him informed and not just another misinformed Kochroach.
@Rusty,
larry74 is truly the most uninformed poster that I have ever seen. He'll throw stuff out there that are complete lies and then say he doesn't have to prove them. It's 'up to you' to prove him wrong. What a coward.
Whomitmay will just call you a racist if you disagree with the President. Funny how if you remove the WH and replace it with a V it becomes Vomitmay.
Not when we have you, stupid, storm and rusty posting in here, why if we were to write ever factual post you 4 have made it would require an electron microscope to read it.
@whomitmay,
Once again. no one can decipher what it is you've just posted.
Well gee wiz do I have to talk to you at your age level, ok, mommy said you can't pee pee on the living room floor anymore you have to be a big boy a pee pee in the potty.
Drill...
If you get tired of whom and Larry like I am, just put him on your ignore list and you won't see his posts. Granted, you won't know if they responded to anything your post, but are you really going to miss anything? I have yet to see a single one of their posts that had any thoughtful discussion put into it.
I find myself lowering my standards to their level in my posts and it just isn't worth it..
just saying...
What standards are those storm, last I knew lying spinning twisting and repeating Fox news and free republic opinions from other misinformed people were not standards but instead just shows a person who has such low standards there isn't anything they wouldn't do in the hopes of stopping another from getting a fair shake. Being spiteful is not a standard.
Yeah. I had whom on ignore for a long time because of the lack of any conscience thought and just constant talking points while accusing anyone opposite of the same. About a week ago, I took her off to see if she had improve. Needless to say, she is back on ignore.
What was that miss rusty? Did you say something I couldn't hear you must be all the Koch hotdog in your mouth, didn't mommy tell you it wasn't lady like to speak with your mouth full of Koch? You have me on ignore yet you keep posting your attacks on me gee are you lying again little lady? Didn't mommy tell you good girls don't lie.
Rusty...Seriously, do we know whether Whom is a male or female? It doesn't really matter, but I am just curious. Maybe Whom is a transgendered person....or a hermaphrodite.
Did you find that you missed anything Whom had to say? Granted, Whom never adds anything to a conversation other than ...teabagger, faux news, Reagan, lying, etc etc etc, Has whom ever actually contributed to a conversation of any sort?
So now we get storms homophobia attack. Really storm you should seek professional help before you go off the deep end and murder Amish school children because Glen Beck said Amish schools were hide outs for liberals. It is rather interesting that 3 of the people who went on murder sprees in the last 10 years posted at free republic and poor rimjob had to work hard to scrub their posts before the FBI got ahold of those posts.
Storm- your second question is easy. Whom has a zero contribution balance to any conversation she has waded in to. Possibly, a negative. Others, while opposing viewpoints as I have, at least use some sort of logic or reasoning. That is lacking in whom. I would suggest she works a job where her boss is obviously an idiot, and she is the only one there that really knows what's going on, but she can't get anyone to listen to her except the younger folks politely listen while on break. As for gender, I've always assumed she was female.
You storm and all the rest of you righties who come onto Ed's blog have contributed less than zero. What don't you get we don't want to hear 34 years of GOP talking points that ignore the fact that the GOP has tanked the economy every chance they got for 34 years. Logic right the only logic we seen from you is the lack of logic. What we get is the insistence that this time the GOP policies will work even though they have been disasters on the economy every time they been used. That is not logic that is fantasy. Right because females will have as their aviator a vintage motorcycle, yeah you are lying again.
Whom, what the hell has logic got to do with anything when it comes to the righties? They don't even know what it is.
I know they keep insisting they have logic but they post the most illogical nonsense ever said by that insane soap salesman they idolize so much.
LOL aviator.
Except the same dozen or so dismissive comments that have zero basis in fact, no.
I agree. It's not fair for us to match wits with unarmed people anyway Storm.
Chi...I have tried many times to have a civil discourse regarding matters discussed on this blog and almost every time, WHOM or Larry come in and start with their name calling and toxic vomit.
There are a couple of people who will engage you in a discussion regarding particular matters and even though they have their opinion, at least you can feel like you are having a reasonable dialogue. With those two, it is like dealing with one of my children when they were about two years old, except my children were much more mature than either one of these people.
Since I can't see their posts anymore, I already feel better.
I
So we get the usual 5th grade attempts at trying to anger the poster, guess what you guys are still sub zeros when it comes to fact. Why because you believe telling a lie more then 3 times makes the lie a fact, to bad for you that isn't how facts are determined.
This means so much coming from you, king repeat. You've repeated the same 12 liberal BS talking points about a hundred times now since I've been following this vine. Your responses are totally predictable.
You are nothing more than a liberal zombie who is here for approval seeking.
Whats the matter chi you actually thought you could get liberals and left leaning people to take your word over everyone elses. Sorry but again your ego fails you.
LOL nice try but I don't really care at all if I change anyone's mind, and unlike yourself I'm not so desperate for an ego stroke that I'd come here to get it.
I'd be bored to death on a vine where everyone agreed with me, unlike you who wants to rid this place of every bit of dissent that challenges your liberal nonsense.
Really it is rather telling that you tea bagging republicans have either serious mental issues or someone is giving you orders to post on blogs like Ed's. How do we know?
1 you don't like or watch Ed
2 you never post on topic, try your hardest to take every topic off subject to make it about what you want it to be about
3 knowing that your posts are pure 100% GOP lies, twists and spins you repeat them no matter how many times they get debunked
4 even when you get banned you make up new names to go back and start anew attacks on posters trying to prove that your are smarter then a liberal, which you fail to prove.
Larry, enough about whom being an idiot. Back to you now. You claimed that bush was a huge deregulator and Obama claimed that bush actually passed more regulations than he did. I would assume with everyone questioning our intelligence, you should comment on whether you were right or was Obama right. You both can't be. Would Obama agree with us on this point?
LOL @ whom, spoken like a true left wing conspiracy nut.
1. Neither of these points are prerequisites for posting here.
2. This is proof you're delusional because it's you who pulls threads off topics by repeating the same thing over and over regardless of the subject.
3. This is true only in your own small mind. You've never debunked anything here. This is just something you repeat when you have no basis to back up your point of view.
4. This once again is your hallucination and not surprisingly it has zero basis in fact.
You are consistent... consistently wrong, but still consistent.
1 excuse
2 a lie
3 Another lie
4 projection
Another words no matter what you call yourself you keep proving that you are a tea bagging republican. Ever hear the saying if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck and flies south for the winter then in all likely hood it is a duck. Oh yeah and you hang around ducks, gee that sure don't make you a tiger, even if you are a duck that calls himself a tiger.
what the hell has logic got to do with anything when it comes to the righties?
Larry
Here's the rightie's logic.
We're going to keep what we have in our pockets and not in some liberal's.
I'd say that's pretty logical. Wouldn't you?
btw Obama promised you (not me) that he was going to take from the rich and give it to liberals. He's failed miserably, now hasn't he?
Jerry. Are you an American citizen? President Obama is the President of the United States of america. I guess that so called promise, that he never made, was for all Americans. I guess that means you're not an American. I know you're not a human being. They have compassion.
I guess that so called promise, that he never made, was for all Americans
Oh, he made that promise alright. It was the main reason he got elected. It's amazing how many liberal votes you can get when you promise to screw the provider class and take care of the recipient class.
He's doing it again...but Romney has a lot more savvy than a failed community organizer.
Mittens is a clown who only is out for himself and those of the 1% like him he can't stand being around you or others like you who he see's as useful idiots who will do his bidding as we have seen by his lame attempts at photo ops with those he thinks are below him.
Mittens is a clown who only is out for himself and those of the 1% like him
Sorry buddy, Mittens is for the 90% that aren't "nanny state" "gimme gimme" liberals. You guys hate him for the same reason you hated Reagan. He expects you to get out of bed before noon and try and stay sober till at least 1PM.
Mittens has had more government handouts then you will ever see. What a fact less poster you are jerry guess you missed how much of Mittens business practices at Bain was on the back of the tax payer.
All you know about Bain is what the lefties make up about Bain. When I lived in Ma. I knew that Bain had a great reputation in the business community. You hate Bain because Bain is successful.
Right because anything about Bain that you don't want to believe is made up but even if it was in the Bain records. Go to love the lying tea bag nation, they prove just how stupid people can be with the GOP education system from Texas.
Yes Larry, Obama is President for all of us. Before him, Bush was your President.
I am assumiing that you accept the fact that you are in disagreement with our President about your silly statement regarding Bush and regulations.
No you are making apples to oranges comparisons again, Obama was elected GWB was put into office by the SCOTUS. So reality was GWB was not elected so he was never president.
"You can't fix stupid"
LOL and they wonder why they keep getting banned and having to re-reg.
If the left is all for more goverment employees why do they want to cut defence?
With the upcoming defence cuts over 60,000 soldiers will lose their jobs but that is ok for the left because they don't belong to a union
Then in reality we got another whiner that just can't seem to grasp that when they are talking about defense spending they are not talking about troops but instead expensive toys that the military industrial waste billions on researching.
We must cut so called defence more like offence, it was Osama's plan for the US to outspend itself and seems to be working great. War vets coming home could change from camouflage and into blaze orange and work fighting the infrastructure battle before its a stumbling block for commerce. Once a major bridge fails it will be a REAL trickle down economy! We will all be paying more..
Funny how they never whined when GWB outsourced military duties to people like Prince who cost the tax payers the pay of 4 US military troops vs one Black water security guard. Then there was the waste of tax dollars to Haliburton to do jobs the military once did themselves, like cooking. Nope they started worrying about tax dollars in 2009.
Isn't it amazing how the national debt crisis the 2007 collapse and high oil prices happened all about the same time?
We have had up and downs in Gas prices back under poppa bush.....That is when it begain. Fishy?
Does ENRON ring a bell?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enron_scandal
Cutting defence doesn't automatically mean cutting soldiers, There is the cost of billions just for one missle, or jet aircraft or ship etc. Or the closing of military bases or installations in parts of the world no longer needed. Or there has been billions in waste due to Dick Cheney's decision to outsource all non-fighting military functions to private contractors, ignoring President Eisenhowers warning about the military/industrial complex, and thus opening the door for privitization of non-military services. This opened the door to give open-ended, no-bid contracts to his former company Halliburton - before war was declared...The fastest growing contractor under the Bush Administration has been Halliburton. Federal spending on Halliburton contracts shot up an astonishing 600% between 2000 and 2005. No contractor has received more money as a result of the invasion of Iraq than Halliburton. The idea to outsource nonfighting military operations to private companies tripled the cost of services.
XXX remember the Iraq war was going to pay for itself? Wonder why the tea bagged whiners club never held the GOP to that lie.
on the weekend ppl on the right get on cause they have to work monday-friday the dummycrats can get on monday-friday cause thet live off the GOV
Prove it. All I ever see is republicans standing around whining that someone else got their promotion.
@whomitmay,
Joe was merely stating that he sees more people on the right posting here on the weekends because they actually have to work Monday through Friday. The left can just post on this blog all they want because they don't have jobs and are feeding at the Government trough.
Then in reality land that is called republican projection, accuse others of what you are guilty of. How do we know this, because republicans are pathological liars.
@Towhomitmay, who is feeding at the Government trough?
65% of all "entitlement" spending goes to RED STATES who make up less than 40% of our population. Guess what? Republicans are anti-welfare ... only when people other than Republicans benefit from welfare.
States Receiving the Most in Federal Spending per Dollar of Federal Taxes Paid: REPUBLICAN STATES FEED AT THE TROUGH...
1. D.C. ....................$6.17 (Democrat)
2. North Dakota ......$2.03 (Republican)

@Paul Federman - ooops!
one of the things that seperates us from them, the trolls here is, we understand there is a need for food stamps and assistance in the USA.
doesn't bother us at all that a republican in need gets our(gov) help. that's why we have a gov..............that us, we the gov, care about fellow Americans no matter what side of the fence they are on.
now those repubs on the other side getting assistance might be a tad confused why they might be voting for a party that wants to end that trough(assistance).
ya know when you ride an elephant they do sway back and forth and you can get dizzy.......................
Yep always them against us mentality, we deserve our handouts no one else need apply.
The difference between democrats and republicans is democrats share and republicans want it all for themselves.
@Paul Federman
Last time I checked, Social Security is an entitlement to it's only logical that when the elderly retire, they move to warmer climates with low taxes which happen to be Republican states.
What about state welfare?
Funny how the states you mention are not in financial trouble. Blue states like New York, California, Illinois and New Jersey happen to be in a huge financial mess.
That might be why they are Red States. They are sick and tired of the high percentage of people in their states that do nothing and are just feeding at the Government trough.
Here we go spin lie twist spin and pretend that blue states are a mess, but reality is as bad as blue states have it red states are even worse. Red states have to be propped up by the blue states so fact is red states are even worse financial disasters. Btw, Social Security is not welfare no matter what rimjob tells you over at free republic.
the dummycrats think states aren't in bad shape there like ppl with checks but no money in the BANK so there ok
likely the numbers are what they are- that said what is the point whether the state that gets X is Democrat or Republican.
On the food stamp issue- the current Democratic Farm Bill (food stamps are administered and funded under the Farm Bill and the Dept of Ag) cuts foods stamps by 4.5 billion. Whether that is more or less than proposed in the Ryan budget I do not know.
And we get the usual nonsense by the sock puppet brigade, it don't matter unless we say it matters. Well seeing as you are on a left leaning blog whining that democrats don't work and get government handouts, you just don't like that we can show you that the biggest free loaders with their hands out are republican states.
my point/the point- is what is the correlation between whether a state is "republican" or "democrat" ? At the same time the post does not provide a definition of republican or democrat- and if you look at the list- it seems suspect- for example North Dakota is listed as a Republican- but it has a Democrat US Senator-
Really you are that misinformed that you don't know what makes a red state or a blue state. Why even 5th grade civics students know that.
do get dizzy trying to spin on an elephant......mmmm.....mmm....mmmmm.......
It's all they know how to do lie deny spin and whine.
whom- no I do not know what makes a red or blue state- not in to labels or buzz words- my question I thought was simple- the post designated certain states as Republican- fine but based on the basic premise that if you control the definitions you control the argument- I just wanted to know how the term was defined- because various the listed republican states have Dem senators- so if that is true- then how can they be republican states?
Just because you know nothing about something doesn't mean you should voice an opinion then. Really it is rather telling that instead of finding out for yourself what red states are and what blue states are, you just open your mouth and show how little you are willing to learn. Oh and they are not Buzz words either.
LOL
red states and teapublicans get their wish and end all welfare and government help. those states would just die! and they be crying for help from all the rest of us.
critical thinking the other great American deficit!
shaking my head they just do not think any farther then they nose. LOL maybe that's why Romney lies so much he really thinks he is Pinocchio.
Maybe Paul could tell how he differentiates whether a state is a democrat or a republican?
Why should he, if you tea bagged republicans actually researched before posting your Fox news rewrites you might learn something, oh yeah that is right you don't want to learn because ignorance is bliss.

all that shows me is how the brown shirts got started and how the SS tuned the machine of intolerance.
xxx ooo - actually you got a note of praise from that a prime example of the right. your actually making that prime example of the right engage in a form of communication instead of marching a goose step.............that prime example of the right....is.....reading.....what you say.....and.....it is starting to get thru!
Long time no see!!! hesback!!! The stump thought I was going to respond! Not in the way Dee-Bob would like though...Anyway HOWDY!

Someone sent you an invite!!! And now a joke!!
The last minutes of the KKK meeting.
The first speakere came up and did a good job of ranting for 30 minutes and I don't know who he was but he said"Just Sayin" allot and insisted on using a gold microphone.
The Guest speaker came up and did a good job of ranting for 30 minutes and tried to sell his book about Lincoln..humph..No takers...
The Special Guest speaker came up and started sobbing and crying while drinking and than got all tangled up in his strings and fell! And when they asked him if he needed any help he said "HELL NO YOU CAN'T HELP ME"

Or made a new sock puppet. Our tea bagging republicans seem to be on a fishing for information expedition hoping we are dumb enough to replay with our E mail Addresses. Come on that tactic is as old as Mittens magic underpants.
Sounds like someone is using more than one name. But that couldn't be now could it? They wouldn't stoop that low would they? YES
Oh they will stoop much lower. I'm surprised it wasn't a death threat. But then rimjob has been telling his keyboard commandos to lay off the death threats, rimjob is tried of visits from the FBI and Secret Service.
Maybe this is why there so STOOPIED! Hee hee hee
The "security leak" story and the "private sector is fine" comment is being talked about by the Republicans because they want to take the voter's minds off of the real problems - like how they keep sabatoging the jobs bill that is needed desperately. Republicans are masters at deception. Remember the leak by a Republican regarding the Valerie Plame issue? Double standard wouldn't you say? McCain is still upset that Obama, a black man, beat him in the last election. He must be having nightmares over it. If they were so concerned about the country they would pass the Jobs Bill and get everyone back to work but I guess they can't make Obama look good a few months before the election. How sad for America.
Well of course that is the GOP way. Just look at the GOP trolls around here, first the keep side tracking every topic away from the subject, then repeats off right wing nonsense then personal attacks. Then they try playing the innocent victims of a liberal plot against them. That just shows how dishonest the GOP traitors are.
They must believe a Liberal is a horny sheeple molester.

We should all remember the 2010 election. The GOP/Tea Party chant was "job, jobs, and more jobs". What was the first thing John Boehner did as Speaker? Introduce legislation that would cut funding for Planned Parenthood! Then we moved on to more important things like introducing antiabortion bills and trying to cut funding for family planning and birth control in the Affordable Care Act all under the B.S. excuse of "religious liberty"! Like Speaker Boehner is wise enough to know what kinds of family planning women need in America. Speaker Boehner then contrived an artificial crisis over the debt ceiling being raised because of the GOP "concern" over the deficit. What did Mitch McConnell bitch about last week? Extending the Bush tax cuts that are the major drivers of our trillion dollar budget deficits! The GOP are idiots because no substantive jobs bill has been passed by Speaker Boehner since the GOP took over the House. The GOP just ought to be ashamed of themselves. But, when you are part of the corporatist mafia you only feel shame about losing to a black man in 2008, not about the great harm they have done to the country.
Are you making this a racist debate. Boehner is slamming the breaks and rightfully so. Obama is spending money that has zero results. 19 energy companies have failed or is failing and bankrupt. I'm sorry I voted for him. It's time for a change. The chart the Ed showed is shallow. the Government sector is about done with there layoffs. The private sector is not even a third of what it was since 2009. Your Private sector should be 70% of your public sector support. Obama gives me the impression he wants reverse.
Then there is reality stop watching Fox news and find out what is really going on with the GOP corporate whores.
We should also remember the 2008 election, where the mantra was "Hope and Change". And since that is one of the contestants this year, we shuuld all think about what hope has given and what change has occured. I would say epic fail on both parts. What amazes me is that some people have slurped up so much kool aid you would thing they were in Jonestown.
got to rest up not like the dummycrats gotta work monday-friday can't suck off the GOV
Right because you got to get up early and start posting on left leaning blogs so you can earn your 5 cent a word pay check from the Koch brothers. That is about the closet thing to work republicans get to as we can clearly see with the republican congress, work 5 days take a 2 week vacation.
whomitmay With your sarcastic remarks, What do you do for a profession? Can you answer that or will you!
i'm sure whomitmay gets her welfare check on the 1st from the GOV.
Projecting again really stop accusing others of what you are doing.
whomitmay Where are you! What is your profession. I see you posting allot. give me 3 reasons why Obama should be reelected. And I'll give you three reasons why he shouldn't.
There is only one really really really good one................It is none of your business what I do for a living. Who are you to demand things that the vine doesn't even demand for people to post on the vine. Besides internet brags about ones work is nonsense especially when you have no way to prove that you are what you say you are. So we can only come to the conclusion that you are looking for something to make personal attacks with. Well guess what a persons opinion is not based on his/her income but rather on the knowledge that person shares. tea bagging republicans on the other hand have no opinions which they post that can be traced right back to Fox news so therefore tea bagging republicans don't have opinions they just repeat what they are told in the Koch brothers play book for posting on left leaning blogs.
There is only one very good reason, Obama is not a corporate Republican with 34 years of economic failures.
whomie: Your just too wise for Irisheagle wise beyond your years....34 years one reason is more than enough.
It figures, from both of you. That's why I've been an Independent. I'll look at both sides of the issue. then I choose. xxx ooo Whomitmay not clever at all. He's a playing the role of a coward behind a screen. No names, just occupation. It will probably show both of your colors. I'm not coward of disclosing my profession. Project manager for software.
You do not look at anything other then Fox news as we can see by your posts. That you then attempted to make a personal attack on a poster who refused to give you information about themselves just shows a typical republican ploy. Really what business is it of yours what we do for a living. That you then try to pull this nonsense of bragging about your job title, what don't you seem to grasp? Just because someone claims a job title doesn't mean jack on a blog. That you are just another person lying on a blog is rather clear so what good is your word, for all we know you could be just another banned re reg.
Tupperware huh?
More like ego ware, I'm better then you because my job title makes me special. Typical my daddy crap from his playground days.
Nope, he's a Democrat with three years of across the board failures serving the exact same corporate interests.
Musclehead: Same old teas party chit huh!
Senate Republicans blocked Democrats from voting on three amendments Tuesday that are strongly opposed by Wall Street.
Sen. Richard Shelby of Alabama, the top-ranking Republican on the Banking Committee, rose to object to a vote on one of the most talked-about amendments, cosponsored by Sens. Carl Levin (D-Mich.) and Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.). Levin-Merkley would ban commercial banks from trading for their own benefit with taxpayer-backed money.
Shelby also objected to an amendment from Sen. Kay Hagan (D-N.C.) that would rein in predatory practices of payday lenders and one from Sen. Byron Dorgan (D-N.D.) that would have banned naked credit default swaps, which were at the heart of the financial crisis. Dorgan's amendment was expected to fail, but Levin-Merkley had been surging in recent days. [UPDATE: The floor chaos continued late into the night.]
When it looked as if Levin-Merkley had at least 50 votes, the threshold was moved up to 60. Now that it appears within striking distance of 60 votes, the new tactic is to deny it a vote altogether.
Negotiations around Levin-Merkley have been going on throughout the day, with Levin and Merkley working out details of the bill with holdouts. But without an opportunity for a vote on the floor, those successful negotiations add up to little.
"Republican Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is yet again doing the bidding of Wall Street and is blocking the Merkley-Levin amendment that will ban high-risk trading inside the lending and depository institutions from coming up for a vote today," said a statement from Merkley's office after the blockade. "They won't even allow a vote with a 60 vote threshold. On a day two Democrats are missing from the chamber. Wall Street lobbyists, and consequently Senator McConnell and the Republicans, want to kill the Merkley-Levin amendment by attrition because they're afraid of losing a vote. If this isn't a sign of the Republicans having the backs of the big banks on Wall Street over the American people, I don't know what is."

LOL the Huffington Post again? You must be kidding.
Still better then the GOP that you claim to not be a member of yet you toe the party line, gee you lied how surprising.
Chit: I don't think Huff rewrites history because they are liberal leaning. Show that its NOT true before you attempt to discredit the article or shut you right wing spinning mouth up!
Actually, 50% of Huff is now right wing owned. Has been for about 2 years.
Ohuh its only 50% true?
To place your faith in any party or established institution as a mechanism for reform is profoundly misguided.
I've never disputed that the Republicans are for Corporatism. I'm disputing your belief that Democrats and Obama are not.
So yes, it's half true, because it denies culpability of the left. Why this would be so hard for you to believe is beyond me. Any propaganda has at least a kernel of truth in it. That's far from being the whole truth and nothing but.
So you don't back the republican ideals? Or Democrat! Must be a libertarian Tea Party nut. Government is corrupt therefore it must be removed. Show me some of your FACTS about Obama not fighting the Corportocracy or that he is working in their favor? Put up or shut up!
Exactly.
It's corrupt all the time, not just when a Republican is in the big chair.
But you would have it be a Corportacracy huh? Much better! NOT.
Um not at all what I said. In fact, what I said was exactly the opposite. Are you even bothering to read my posts before you respond?
How have I toed the party line?
The Huffington Post is a liberal rag that is filled with just as much nonsense as fox news.
Or was it tow? It depends on which part of the country you're in right?
Pure tea bagger response how surprising. Guess old chi just can't grasp that many old sayings are said different in different parts of the country. chi believes all Americans say things the exact same way but reality is like every other tea bagging republican he looks for anything he can make a personal attrack on which just proves chi is one of those republicans who denies he is republican because he chooses to run away from his republican back ground yet will vote republican.
LOL everyone knows it's toe everywhere whom. Stop trying to make excuses for your ignorance.
The GOP in the Senate has blocked every jobs bill by filibusters. Many proposals have gone forward but they stall on the floor in the Senate. The GOP House is even worse. President Obama asked for the American Jobs bill back in August, 2011. This bill was a $450 billion package that most economists agree would have made a big difference in keeping the public sector employed and getting important infrastructure bills started right away. This sound bill has languished in the "do nothing" GOP House. Remember those "jobs, jobs, jobs bills" Speaker Boehner?
We are about $2.2 trillion behind in desperately needed infrastructure maintenance. America's roads, bridges, water and sewer mains, airports, railway facilities, mass transit facilities, dams, ports, and levies are all in deplorable shape. Our grossly overextended electric grid is over used and grossly inefficient. We should replace our electrical grid with a modern smart grid that can transfer electricity produce by wind farms on the Plains and solar therm plants in the Southwest. Studies done on the bridge safety in America show that we have thousands of bridges across the country that could literally fall down and are well below safety codes. The American Society of Civil Engineers gave our infrastructure a grade of "D". Anyone who cares about America has to care about our infrastructure. To fail to invest in modern infrastructure means that the BRIC countries will get all of our jobs and new high tech start up companies. Many people are just in total denial about our infrastructure. If we do not fix it America will fail its children in the 21st century global economy where most of our competitors have much higher rates of investment than the U.S.
President Obama needs to make a speech before a joint session of Congress. He needs to ask for at least a $3 trillion bond package to maintain and upgrade our infrastructure. We have many needs also for research and development for our energy sector. We need more research and development for IGCC coal plants, biomass fuels, fuel cell technology, electric vehicle batteries, more advanced solar and wind technology. Interest rates are low and bonds are cheap right now. So President Obama should go big and renew our infrastructure in one large package.
Our 104 nuclear plants are also over 40 years old at least ten years beyond their design life. There is new fast neutron breeder reactors that can use old nuclear waste and turn it into fuel. We could build 104 fast neutron reactors replacing our old heavy water fission reactors at the same sites and use the old nuclear waste for fuel. We either replace our old antiquated nuclear plants or else we will have to shutdown our old nuclear plants. This would be unwise because we may need nuclear power in the future.
President Obama should ask for bond money to replace and upgrade our infrastructure. Energy and water are precious items that get squandered on a huge scale when your infrastructure is dangerously antiquated, overused, and dilapidated. President Obama should ask for a $3 trillion package over a five year period. The GOP will probably say "NO".
The President can go on a Harry Truman bus tour throughout all the major states and say something like this: "We can either pass a major infrastructure bill and upgrade our vital infrastructure to compete in the global economy of the 21st century or else we can watch our country turn into a 3rd world cesspool. If you want the United States to remain a leader in the world then support my infrastructure bill because it will put Americans to work and be an investment for our children's future. Our grandparents and parents invested in the country for us, so we must do the same for our kids and grand kids. If you want our country to turn into a 3rd world cesspool filled with massive poverty, slums, rats, garbage, and filth, vote for Mitt Romney so the rich can have more tax cuts and put the money offshore. If you believe in America's future support my infrastructure bill".
If President Obama made a speech like this in all the counties in each of the swing states across America the President will be easily reelected and the "do nothing" GOP Congress will be out of work next session with healthy Democratic majorities in both Houses.
Chris Matthews said why doesn't the President go BIG instead of this minuscule bill for jobs. I guess he knows better, but it just shows just how much the GOP is control of their puppet masters and just keep Nancy Reagan's "Just Say No" slogan as the way to appease their masters! It makes it perfectly clear what they are NOT doing! Helping the country and don't give a sh!t about the economy to the least even they claim they do. I would hope the people in this once great country would WAKE UP to this more than obvious shell game.
I might hope for a major bridge to fail to make a point. God help us! The evil is all around us. Driven by the power of GREED!
Its important to remember that the GOP is the cause of much of the recession of 2008. Deregulation is a dogma of the GOP that has failed America profoundly. Conservatives are in total denial about this failure of supply side economics. The repeal of the 1932 Glass-Steagall Act deregulated Wall Street investment banks. The 1999 Graham-Leach-Bliley Act is the major cause of the 2008 mortgage meltdown crisis. The regulations that kept commercial banking and Wall Street speculative investments separate under Glass-Steagall were stripped away after the Republican sponsored Graham-Leach-Bliley Act. President Clinton signed this into law but the idea of banking deregulation had been a major Republican goal for at least 20 years. Republican supply side economics is a cornerstone of conservative ideology that has failed America disastrously.
The highly leveraged mortgaged backed securities were essentially mortgages that were bundled together as securities and sold on Wall Street. These mortgage back securities were sold to international investors. These mortgage backed securities were highly leveraged meaning that if they were leveraged $30 to $1 and went up the owners made $30. This worked fine as long as the real estate market appreciated. Wall Street investment banks made huge profits and flooded the real estate mortgage industry with cheap money for loans. Regulations were almost non-existent in this environment. When the real estate market went bust the highly leveraged mortgaged backed securities became worthless. If you owned them you now owed $30 if these securities depreciated $1. Read the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission Report that concluded the 2008 financial crisis was caused by human errors, in actions, misjudgements, and greed on the part of Wall Street Investment banks.
$9 trillion in Federal Reserve loans, TARP, and other emergency actions later we can all see the damage done by GOP supply side economics. GOP supply side economics is a complete and total failure for America. Canada kept its banks highly regulated and their were no taxpayer bailouts by Canadian taxpayers. The problem is that Canadians have a higher education level than most American conservatives. So we can see that the Canadian system is smarter and better for their people. American conservatives are idiots for pushing deregulation.
Warren Buffet called highly leveraged mortgaged back securities "financial instruments of mass destruction". Warren Buffet was right and the conservatives that support deregulation have been proven disastrously wrong. But Mitt Romney is still pushing these poison pills of deregulation, cutting of federal agencies like the SEC, and calling for a repeal of the Dodd-Frank reform bill. When will Americans wake up to this GOP fraud?
