Why Obama Will Win in 2012 !

It now seems that the 2012 election is in the bag for Obama as once again, Republican voters are rallying for a candidate that isn’t electable for president.
During the last election, John McCain was supported by Republican voters, but was a candidate everyone should have known didn’t stand a chance of getting elected. McCain’s so called attitude of crossing the political aisle to get things done signaled to many that he was unable to stand his ground on important issues. It meant that what he may get done would be so deluded in compromise that in the end, it would be meaningless. With McCain’s isle hopping political view, he proved to a majority of voters that as President, he would be totally ineffective in representing core Conservative values, demanded of a candidate in being elected to the White House.

10 Reasons Why Obama Will Win In 2012 !
BY DAVID ROTHKOPF | NOVEMBER 15, 2011
Watching this weekend's Republican presidential debate on U.S. foreign policy, you might be forgiven if you thought it shed absolutely no light on U.S. foreign policy. After all, by definition ... and by God's good graces ... the views expressed represented those of people who will have precious little influence over America's international course. Only one of these people can be the Republican nominee. And, in part thanks to performances like what we saw on Saturday, even that individual is very likely not going to ever be president of the United States.
As a consequence the vapidity of Herman Cain is irrelevant. The pro-torture stance of the wing-nuts in the group is irrelevant. The ridiculous zero-based foreign aid formula suggested by Rick Perry is irrelevant. Even the pontificating of Republican non-Romney of the Month, Newt Gingrich is irrelevant. Because these weren't foreign policy ideas or positions. They were desperate cries for attention.
Sadly, also irrelevant will be thoughtful views offered by Jon Huntsman, who clearly distinguished himself as the most capable, thoughtful, experienced, and credible of the crew.
This means that the 30 minutes of the debate that CBS chose not to air will have a virtually identical impact to the 60 minutes of Obama-bashing, fear-mongering, and peacocking that actually were broadcast.
It is possible that some of the views that were offered by likely nominee Mitt Romney could be consequential. This would not seem to be good for U.S.-China relations except that there is virtually zero possibility that President Mitt Romney -- who would essentially be the hand-picked candidate of the business community and the major party presidential candidate with the closest ties to America's economic establishment in modern memory -- would actually follow through on his anti-Beijing saber-rattling once in office. Further, some of his statements were essentially meaningless to begin with -- like his assertion that a vote for him was the only way to avert Iran getting the bomb, not being backed by facts or even being remotely credible given how key what happens between now and when the next president takes office will be.
But more important still is that Romney isn't going to be the next President either. In all likelihood that will be Barack Obama. Here are 10 reasons why:

Why Obama Will Win in 2012 !
By: Tony Elliott (View Profile)
This time around, Republicans are again, poised to elect a man who will not win against Barack Obama, because he is not electable as president due to his religious background. The fact that Romney has ties to the Jesus Christ Church of Latter Day Saints and is a devout Mormon, nixes all chances he ever had of being elected President.
While the LDS church struggles along even in today’s society for recognition as a legitimate religious organization, the tarnish of it being a cult remains and will ultimately be responsible for Romney losing the election in 2012.
Thus, all this support by Republican voters as seen in the latest polls for Romney indicate the willingness of Republican voters to choose a man into being nominated for their party who ultimately can’t win. What is going on now during the Primaries is many voters are selecting Romney because he seems to have their requirements in both policy and moral value, not to mention he seems to be more electable than the rest of his opponents. This however will not trickle down to his being able to garner enough votes to beat Obama in 2012. Romney will handily lose the election simply because most voters will not have the nerve to vote for a man connected with a religious organization deemed by many as a cult.
The news over the past few years of sex with underage girls and multiple marriages within offshoot branches of the LDS church whether recognized by the church or not, further damages the Mormon Church’s image of being anything other than a questionable organization.
The Republican candidate most likely able to beat Obama in 2012 is Ron Paul, but his chances of even winning two states during the Primary are slim to none because he is out gunned by the charisma and star power of Romney and Gingrich. However, charisma and star power won’t get you elected alone.
Perhaps, the man most electable was Herman Cain, but past sexcapades ruined any chance of him getting any position better than White House Gardener.
Although Bill Clinton could run for President today and win by a landslide, even though his record of sexual affairs and encounters is no better than Herman Cain’s.
Unless things change drastically between now and the Republican National Convention, it appears that republicans will have to deal with another 4 years of the Obama Administration. As it is presently, Obama doesn’t even have to campaign to reclaim the White House. All he has to do is sit quietly and watch Republicans nominate a man who he knows he can beat easily. Obama could even refuse to participate in any debates at all and still win.
What Obama should be doing is going on the road, thanking all the Republican voters for re-electing him.

I understand you conservatives got nothing, except your feeble attempts to convince the rest of us that somehow President Obama has no record to run on or has accomplished nothing or those accomplishments are somehow insignificant or somehow being ham-stringed by a do-nothing congress determined to see him fail has no bearing whatsoever on his ability to accomplish anything, or, 101 reasons that are malarky. Too bad for you that the facts tell otherwise.
Under President Obama the economy is improving, the unemployment rate is dropping, we're paying the lowest taxes in 65 years, private sector jobs are consistently being added each month, he saved or created millions of jobs with the Recovery Act and the auto loan bailout, the stock market has doubled and at its highest in 13 years, regulations have been passed that will prevent another casino on Wall Street and economic meltdown, more oil leases have been opened up than by previous administrations and oil production and active wells in the U.S. are at the highest level in nearly a decade, we're exiting wars we should have never engaged in, we're earning back the respect of the rest of the world, major landmark legislation has been passed that benefits millions of middle and working class Americans, e.g., Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2009, American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 and the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, major landmark legislation has been passed that expands federal hate crime laws which is known as the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act , a draconian discriminatory policy, DADT, within our military was repealed, several leaders of al-Qaeda have been captured or killed, and to reiterate, the most wanted Osama bin Laden, the mastermind behind 9/11 was hunted down and killed, etc., etc., etc.
All this and so much more despite being handed the worst exconomic catastrophe in 65 years caused by proven failed republican policies and then being ham-stringed by a do nothing obstructionist republican congress who's only goal is to defeat him and see him fail no matter the cost to this nation.
President Obama's economic and foreign policies are working. Those are the facts.
Your do nothing Harry Reid is what you need to be referring to. If it wasn't for Las Vegas he wouldn't even be here today. The Unions bought his seat just like they try to buy every seat. Without the Unions with Nevada like at the bottom of the economy owns Harry Reid, The Do Nothing Senator.
@babina,
The economy handed Obama was not because of failed Republican policies. It was because of failed Democratic policies. It was because of the Community Reinvestment Act which made banks give out a certain number of subprime loans because Democrats thought everyone deserved to own a house even if they couldn't afford it. Then they created the GSEs Fannie and Freddie to provide the safety net for subprime lenders. No bank in their right mind would lend money to someone who couldn't afford to pay it back unless the Govenment guaranteed it with Fannie and Freddie.
Anyway, let's got on to what else you posted.
Ask the stockholders of GM if they got a good deal? They were given a penny on the dollar and then the company they invested in was given to the Unions.
Half of the 'do-nothing' Congress is controlled by the Senate. President Obama said if he got his stimulus, unemployment wouldn't go above 8%. It's been above 8% his entire Presidency. Just yesterday, he said the private sector was okay, until he flip-flopped and said it wasn't.
Until Congress repeals the Community Reinvestment Act which forced banks to give out subprime loans and then gave the banks a safety net in Fannie and Freddie, there is no guarantee that a Wall Street collapse will not happen again.
Wall Street may have grown under Obama, but the dollar isn't worth as much because of the Fed practice of Quantitative Easing which is devaluing our dollar on purpose to make American made goods look more afforable internationally.
This has been the worst President in US history. It is mind boggling as to how anyone can support him.
ABO 2012.

5 More Reasons Why Obama Will Win in 2012 !
BY AARON DAVID MILLER | APRIL 25, 2012
It's almost May. Six months to go until the only presidential poll that counts.
Worries abound in the Obama camp: Large Democratic donors have dried up, the fragile economic recovery is looking weaker, independents are, well, being independent, and the Republicans have finally found their nominee and maybe their voice too.
Worrying about getting reelected is part of a president's job description, but this president really shouldn't be all that concerned. The election is bound to be closer than in 2008, but when it's over, the presidential gods will likely have smiled kindly on Barack Obama. Here are the top five reasons why.
1. Americans are reelecting imperfect and flawed presidents.
I know it's going to come as a shocker, but Obama hasn't been a great president in his first term and is unlikely to be one in his second. His two claims to fame -- saving the economy from another Great Depression and passing his signature health-care legislation -- won't get him there. The first will largely be taken for granted, and the second is still a very uncertain and untested proposition. The president's foreign policy has been very competent, but aside from the killing of Osama bin Laden, it has had no spectacular successes.
But what's so great about being great anyway? Greatness is certainly not a requirement for reelection.
The last two U.S. presidents -- Bill Clinton and George W. Bush -- were reelected comfortably, and neither could hardly be considered a candidate for the presidential hall of fame. Both were flawed and imperfect men: Obama's predecessor was below average; Clinton clearly above average. That's about where Obama falls too. Consider this: Since Franklin D. Roosevelt, the United States has had four presidents who served out two terms: Eisenhower, Reagan, Clinton, and Bush 43. Even with a push from partisans and revisionist historians, none really belongs in the very top tier.
". The Unions bought his seat just like they try to buy every seat. Without the Unions with Nevada like at the bottom of the economy owns Harry Reid, The Do Nothing Senator."
LOL Six you do know Nevada is a RTW state right? guess The GOP is still hurting cause finial called their a$$ out for what we all know they been doing sabotaging and obstructing.
true Las Vegas being the largess population along with Henderson. and honestly don't you feel better off with Harry over totally whacked out Angle?
The main reasons Obama will win are twofold, Sixpick:
1. It's very hard to beat an incumbent president.
2. Romney is an inexperienced, weak candidate; devoid of character, devoid of personality, and no one on the right trusts him as they don't know if he's a liberal, moderate, progressive, conservative, severely conservative or none of the above.
Or all of the above.
Um, Sixpack, sorry to burst your little misinformed bubble but......

White House Philosophy Stoked Mortgage Bonfire
By JO BECKER, SHERYL GAY STOLBERG and STEPHEN LABATON
“We can put light where there’s darkness, and hope where there’s despondency in this country. And part of it is working together as a nation to encourage folks to own their own home.” — President Bush, Oct. 15, 2002
WASHINGTON — The global financial system was teetering on the edge of collapse when President Bush and his economics team huddled in the Roosevelt Room of the White House for a briefing that, in the words of one participant, “scared the hell out of everybody.”
It was Sept. 18. Lehman Brothers had just gone belly-up, overwhelmed by toxic mortgages. Bank of America had swallowed Merrill Lynch in a hastily arranged sale. Two days earlier, Mr. Bush had agreed to pump $85 billion into the failing insurance giant American International Group.
The president listened as Ben S. Bernanke, chairman of the Federal Reserve, laid out the latest terrifying news: The credit markets, gripped by panic, had frozen overnight, and banks were refusing to lend money.
Then his Treasury secretary, Henry M. Paulson Jr., told him that to stave off disaster, he would have to sign off on the biggest government bailout in history.
Mr. Bush, according to several people in the room, paused for a single, stunned moment to take it all in.
“How,” he wondered aloud, “did we get here?”
Eight years after arriving in Washington vowing to spread the dream of homeownership, Mr. Bush is leaving office, as he himself said recently, “faced with the prospect of a global meltdown” with roots in the housing sector he so ardently championed.
There are plenty of culprits, like lenders who peddled easy credit, consumers who took on mortgages they could not afford and Wall Street chieftains who loaded up on mortgage-backed securities without regard to the risk.
But the story of how we got here is partly one of Mr. Bush’s own making, according to a review of his tenure that included interviews with dozens of current and former administration officials.
From his earliest days in office, Mr. Bush paired his belief that Americans do best when they own their own home with his conviction that markets do best when let alone.
He pushed hard to expand homeownership, especially among minorities, an initiative that dovetailed with his ambition to expand the Republican tent — and with the business interests of some of his biggest donors. But his housing policies and hands-off approach to regulation encouraged lax lending standards.
Mr. Bush did foresee the danger posed by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the government-sponsored mortgage finance giants. The president spent years pushing a recalcitrant Congress to toughen regulation of the companies, but was unwilling to compromise when his former Treasury secretary wanted to cut a deal. And the regulator Mr. Bush chose to oversee them — an old prep school buddy — pronounced the companies sound even as they headed toward insolvency.
As early as 2006, top advisers to Mr. Bush dismissed warnings from people inside and outside the White House that housing prices were inflated and that a foreclosure crisis was looming. And when the economy deteriorated, Mr. Bush and his team misdiagnosed the reasons and scope of the downturn; as recently as February, for example, Mr. Bush was still calling it a “rough patch.”
The result was a series of piecemeal policy prescriptions that lagged behind the escalating crisis.
“There is no question we did not recognize the severity of the problems,” said Al Hubbard, Mr. Bush’s former chief economics adviser, who left the White House in December 2007. “Had we, we would have attacked them.”
Looking back, Keith B. Hennessey, Mr. Bush’s current chief economics adviser, says he and his colleagues did the best they could “with the information we had at the time.” But Mr. Hennessey did say he regretted that the administration did not pay more heed to the dangers of easy lending practices. And both Mr. Paulson and his predecessor, John W. Snow, say the housing push went too far.
“The Bush administration took a lot of pride that homeownership had reached historic highs,” Mr. Snow said in an interview. “But what we forgot in the process was that it has to be done in the context of people being able to afford their house. We now realize there was a high cost.”
For much of the Bush presidency, the White House was preoccupied by terrorism and war; on the economic front, its pressing concerns were cutting taxes and privatizing Social Security. The housing market was a bright spot: ever-rising home values kept the economy humming, as owners drew down on their equity to buy consumer goods and pack their children off to college.
Lawrence B. Lindsey, Mr. Bush’s first chief economics adviser, said there was little impetus to raise alarms about the proliferation of easy credit that was helping Mr. Bush meet housing goals.
“No one wanted to stop that bubble,” Mr. Lindsey said. “It would have conflicted with the president’s own policies.”
Today, millions of Americans are facing foreclosure, homeownership rates are virtually no higher than when Mr. Bush took office, Fannie and Freddie are in a government conservatorship, and the bailout cost to taxpayers could run in the trillions.
As the economy has shed jobs — 533,000 last month alone — and his party has been punished by irate voters, the weakened president has granted his Treasury secretary extraordinary leeway in managing the crisis.
Never once, Mr. Paulson said in a recent interview, has Mr. Bush overruled him. “I’ve got a boss,” he explained, who “understands that when you’re dealing with something as unprecedented and fast-moving as this we need to have a different operating style.”
Mr. Paulson and other senior advisers to Mr. Bush say the administration has responded well to the turmoil, demonstrating flexibility under difficult circumstances. “There is not any playbook,” Mr. Paulson said.
The president declined to be interviewed for this article. But in recent weeks Mr. Bush has shared his views of how the nation came to the brink of economic disaster. He cites corporate greed and market excesses fueled by a flood of foreign cash — “Wall Street got drunk,” he has said — and the policies of past administrations. He blames Congress for failing to reform Fannie and Freddie. Last week, Fox News asked Mr. Bush if he was worried about being the Herbert Hoover of the 21st century.
“No,” Mr. Bush replied. “I will be known as somebody who saw a problem and put the chips on the table to prevent the economy from collapsing.”
But in private moments, aides say, the president is looking inward. During a recent ride aboard Marine One, the presidential helicopter, Mr. Bush sounded a reflective note.
“We absolutely wanted to increase homeownership,” Tony Fratto, his deputy press secretary, recalled him saying. “But we never wanted lenders to make bad decisions.”
A Policy Gone Awry
Darrin West could not believe it. The president of the United States was standing in his living room.
It was June 17, 2002, a day Mr. West recalls as “the highlight of my life.” Mr. Bush, in Atlanta to unveil a plan to increase the number of minority homeowners by 5.5 million, was touring Park Place South, a development of starter homes in a neighborhood once marked by blight and crime.
Mr. West had patrolled there as a police officer, and now he was the proud owner of a $130,000 town house, bought with an adjustable-rate mortgage and a $20,000 government loan as his down payment — just the sort of creative public-private financing Mr. Bush was promoting.
“Part of economic security,” Mr. Bush declared that day, “is owning your own home.”
A lot has changed since then. Mr. West, beset by personal problems, left Atlanta. Unable to sell his home for what he owed, he said, he gave it back to the bank last year. Like other communities across America, Park Place South has been hit with a foreclosure crisis affecting at least 10 percent of its 232 homes, according to Masharn Wilson, a developer who led Mr. Bush’s tour.
“I just don’t think what he envisioned was actually carried out,” she said.
Park Place South is, in microcosm, the story of a well-intentioned policy gone awry. Advocating homeownership is hardly novel; the Clinton administration did it, too. For Mr. Bush, it was part of his vision of an “ownership society,” in which Americans would rely less on the government for health care, retirement and shelter. It was also good politics, a way to court black and Hispanic voters.
But for much of Mr. Bush’s tenure, government statistics show, incomes for most families remained relatively stagnant while housing prices skyrocketed. That put homeownership increasingly out of reach for first-time buyers like Mr. West.
So Mr. Bush had to, in his words, “use the mighty muscle of the federal government” to meet his goal. He proposed affordable housing tax incentives. He insisted that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac meet ambitious new goals for low-income lending.
Concerned that down payments were a barrier, Mr. Bush persuaded Congress to spend up to $200 million a year to help first-time buyers with down payments and closing costs.
And he pushed to allow first-time buyers to qualify for federally insured mortgages with no money down. Republican Congressional leaders and some housing advocates balked, arguing that homeowners with no stake in their investments would be more prone to walk away, as Mr. West did. Many economic experts, including some in the White House, now share that view.
The president also leaned on mortgage brokers and lenders to devise their own innovations. “Corporate America,” he said, “has a responsibility to work to make America a compassionate place.”
And corporate America, eyeing a lucrative market, delivered in ways Mr. Bush might not have expected, with a proliferation of too-good-to-be-true teaser rates and interest-only loans that were sold to investors in a loosely regulated environment.
“This administration made decisions that allowed the free market to operate as a barroom brawl instead of a prize fight,” said L. William Seidman, who advised Republican presidents and led the savings and loan bailout in the 1990s. “To make the market work well, you have to have a lot of rules.”
But Mr. Bush populated the financial system’s alphabet soup of oversight agencies with people who, like him, wanted fewer rules, not more.
Like Minds on Laissez-Faire
The president’s first chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission promised a “kinder, gentler” agency. The second was pushed out amid industry complaints that he was too aggressive. Under its current leader, the agency failed to police the catastrophic decisions that toppled the investment bank Bear Stearns and contributed to the current crisis, according to a recent inspector general’s report.
As for Mr. Bush’s banking regulators, they once brandished a chain saw over a 9,000-page pile of regulations as they promised to ease burdens on the industry. When states tried to use consumer protection laws to crack down on predatory lending, the comptroller of the currency blocked the effort, asserting that states had no authority over national banks.
The administration won that fight at the Supreme Court. But Roy Cooper, North Carolina’s attorney general, said, “They took 50 sheriffs off the beat at a time when lending was becoming the Wild West.”
The president did push rules aimed at forcing lenders to more clearly explain loan terms. But the White House shelved them in 2004, after industry-friendly members of Congress threatened to block confirmation of his new housing secretary.
In the 2004 election cycle, mortgage bankers and brokers poured nearly $847,000 into Mr. Bush’s re-election campaign, more than triple their contributions in 2000, according to the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics. The administration did not finalize the new rules until last month.
Among the Republican Party’s top 10 donors in 2004 was Roland Arnall. He founded Ameriquest, then the nation’s largest lender in the subprime market, which focuses on less creditworthy borrowers. In July 2005, the company agreed to set aside $325 million to settle allegations in 30 states that it had preyed on borrowers with hidden fees and ballooning payments. It was an early signal that deceptive lending practices, which would later set off a wave of foreclosures, were widespread.
Andrew H. Card Jr., Mr. Bush’s former chief of staff, said White House aides discussed Ameriquest’s troubles, though not what they might portend for the economy. Mr. Bush had just nominated Mr. Arnall as his ambassador to the Netherlands, and the White House was primarily concerned with making sure he would be confirmed.
“Maybe I was asleep at the switch,” Mr. Card said in an interview.
Brian Montgomery, the Federal Housing Administration commissioner, understood the significance. His agency insures home loans, traditionally for the same low-income minority borrowers Mr. Bush wanted to help. When he arrived in June 2005, he was shocked to find those customers had been lured away by the “fool’s gold” of subprime loans. The Ameriquest settlement, he said, reinforced his concern that the industry was exploiting borrowers.
In December 2005, Mr. Montgomery drafted a memo and brought it to the White House. “I don’t think this is what the president had in mind here,” he recalled telling Ryan Streeter, then the president’s chief housing policy analyst.
It was an opportunity to address the risky subprime lending practices head on. But that was never seriously discussed. More senior aides, like Karl Rove, Mr. Bush’s chief political strategist, were wary of overly regulating an industry that, Mr. Rove said in an interview, provided “a valuable service to people who could not otherwise get credit.” While he had some concerns about the industry’s practices, he said, “it did provide an opportunity for people, a lot of whom are still in their houses today.”
The White House pursued a narrower plan offered by Mr. Montgomery that would have allowed the F.H.A. to loosen standards so it could lure back subprime borrowers by insuring similar, but safer, loans. It passed the House but died in the Senate, where Republican senators feared that the agency would merely be mimicking the private sector’s risky practices — a view Mr. Rove said he shared.
Looking back at the episode, Mr. Montgomery broke down in tears. While he acknowledged that the bill did not get to the root of the problem, he said he would “go to my grave believing” that at least some homeowners might have been spared foreclosure.
Today, administration officials say it is fair to ask whether Mr. Bush’s ownership push backfired. Mr. Paulson said the administration, like others before it, “over-incented housing.” Mr. Hennessey put it this way: “I would not say too much emphasis on expanding homeownership. I would say not enough early focus on easy lending practices.”
‘We Told You So’
Armando Falcon Jr. was preparing to take on a couple of giants.
A soft-spoken Texan, Mr. Falcon ran the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight, a tiny government agency that oversaw Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, two pillars of the American housing industry. In February 2003, he was finishing a blockbuster report that warned the pillars could crumble.
Created by Congress, Fannie and Freddie — called G.S.E.’s, for government-sponsored entities — bought trillions of dollars’ worth of mortgages to hold or sell to investors as guaranteed securities. The companies were also Washington powerhouses, stuffing lawmakers’ campaign coffers and hiring bare-knuckled lobbyists.
Mr. Falcon’s report outlined a worst-case situation in which Fannie and Freddie could default on debt, setting off “contagious illiquidity in the market” — in other words, a financial meltdown. He also raised red flags about the companies’ soaring use of derivatives, the complex financial instruments that economic experts now blame for spreading the housing collapse.
Today, the White House cites that report — and its subsequent effort to better regulate Fannie and Freddie — as evidence that it foresaw the crisis and tried to avert it. Bush officials recently wrote up a talking points memo headlined “G.S.E.’s — We Told You So.”
But the back story is more complicated. To begin with, on the day Mr. Falcon issued his report, the White House tried to fire him.
At the time, Fannie and Freddie were allies in the president’s quest to drive up homeownership rates; Franklin D. Raines, then Fannie’s chief executive, has fond memories of visiting Mr. Bush in the Oval Office and flying aboard Air Force One to a housing event. “They loved us,” he said.
So when Mr. Falcon refused to deep-six his report, Mr. Raines took his complaints to top Treasury officials and the White House. “I’m going to do what I need to do to defend my company and my position,” Mr. Raines told Mr. Falcon.
Days later, as Mr. Falcon was in New York preparing to deliver a speech about his findings, his cellphone rang. It was the White House personnel office, he said, telling him he was about to be unemployed.
His warnings were buried in the next day’s news coverage, trumped by the White House announcement that Mr. Bush would replace Mr. Falcon, a Democrat appointed by Bill Clinton, with Mark C. Brickell, a leader in the derivatives industry that Mr. Falcon’s report had flagged.
It was not until 2003, when Freddie became embroiled in an accounting scandal, that the White House took on the companies in earnest. Mr. Bush decided to quit the long-standing practice of rewarding supporters with high-paying appointments to the companies’ boards — “political plums,” in Mr. Rove’s words. He also withdrew Mr. Brickell’s nomination and threw his support behind Mr. Falcon, beginning an intense effort to give his little regulatory agency more power.
Mr. Falcon lacked explicit authority to limit the size of the companies’ mammoth investment portfolios, or tell them how much capital they needed to guard against losses. White House officials wanted that to change. They also wanted the power to put the companies into receivership, hoping that would end what Mr. Card, the former chief of staff, called “the myth of government backing,” which gave the companies a competitive edge because investors assumed the government would not let them fail.
By the spring of 2005 a deal with Congress seemed within reach, Mr. Snow, the former Treasury secretary, said in an interview.
Michael G. Oxley, an Ohio Republican and then-chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, had produced what Mr. Snow viewed as “a pretty darned good bill,” a watered-down version of what the president sought. But at the urging of Mr. Card and the White House economics team, the president decided to hold out for a tougher bill in the Senate.
Mr. Card said he feared that Mr. Snow was “more interested in the deal than the result.” When the bill passed the House, the president issued a statement opposing it, effectively killing any chance of compromise. Mr. Oxley was furious.
“The problem with those guys at the White House, they had all the answers and they didn’t think they had to listen to anyone, including the Treasury secretary,” Mr. Oxley said in a recent interview. “They were driving the ideological train. He was in the caboose, and they were in the engine room.”
Mr. Card and Mr. Hennessey said they had no regrets. They are convinced, Mr. Hennessey said, that the Oxley bill would have produced “the worst of all possible outcomes,” the illusion of reform without the substance.
Still, some former White House and Treasury officials continue to debate whether Mr. Bush’s all-or-nothing approach scuttled a measure that, while imperfect, might have given an aggressive regulator enough power to keep the companies from failing.
Mr. Snow, for one, calls Mr. Oxley “a hero,” adding, “He saw the need to move. It didn’t get done. And it’s too bad, because I think if it had, I think we could well have avoided a big contributor to the current crisis.”
Unheeded Warnings
Jason Thomas had a nagging feeling.
The New Century Financial Corporation, a huge subprime lender whose mortgages were bundled into securities sold around the world, was headed for bankruptcy in March 2007. Mr. Thomas, an economic analyst for President Bush, was responsible for determining whether it was a hint of things to come.
At 29, Mr. Thomas had followed a fast-track career path that took him from a Buffalo meatpacking plant, where he worked as a statistician, to the White House. He was seen as a whiz kid, “a brilliant guy,” his former boss, Mr. Hubbard, says.
As Mr. Thomas began digging into New Century’s failure that spring, he became fixated on a particular statistic, the rent-to-own ratio.
Typically, as home prices increase, rental costs rise proportionally. But Mr. Thomas sent charts to top White House and Treasury officials showing that the monthly cost of owning far outpaced the cost to rent. To Mr. Thomas, it was a sign that housing prices were wildly inflated and bound to plunge, a condition that could set off a foreclosure crisis as conventional and subprime borrowers with little equity found they owed more than their houses were worth.
It was not the Bush team’s first warning. The previous year, Mr. Lindsey, the former chief economics adviser, returned to the White House to tell his old colleagues that housing prices were headed for a crash. But housing values are hard to evaluate, and Mr. Lindsey had a reputation as a market pessimist, said Mr. Hubbard, adding, “I thought, ‘He’s always a bear.’ ”
In retrospect, Mr. Hubbard said, Mr. Lindsey was “absolutely right,” and Mr. Thomas’s charts “should have been a signal.”
Instead, the prevailing view at the White House was that the problems in the housing market were limited to subprime borrowers unable to make their payments as their adjustable mortgages reset to higher rates. That belief was shared by Mr. Bush’s new Treasury secretary, Mr. Paulson.
Mr. Paulson, a former chairman of the Wall Street firm Goldman Sachs, had been given unusual power; he had accepted the job only after the president guaranteed him that Treasury, not the White House, would have the dominant role in shaping economic policy. That shift merely continued an imbalance of power that stifled robust policy debate, several former Bush aides say.
Throughout the spring of 2007, Mr. Paulson declared that “the housing market is at or near the bottom,” with the problem “largely contained.” That position underscored nearly every action the Bush administration took in the ensuing months as it offered one limited response after another.
By that August, the problems had spread beyond New Century. Credit was tightening, amid questions about how heavily banks were invested in securities linked to mortgages. Still, Mr. Bush predicted that the turmoil would resolve itself with a “soft landing.”
The plan Mr. Bush announced on Aug. 31 reflected that belief. Called “F.H.A. Secure,” it aimed to help about 80,000 homeowners refinance their loans. Mr. Montgomery, the housing commissioner, said that he knew the modest program was not enough — the White House later expanded the agency’s rescue role — and that he would be “flying the plane and fixing it at the same time.”
That fall, Representative Rahm Emanuel, a leading Democrat, former investment banker and now the incoming chief of staff to President-elect Barack Obama, warned the White House it was not doing enough. He said he told Joshua B. Bolten, Mr. Bush’s chief of staff, and Mr. Paulson in a series of phone calls that the credit crisis would get “deep and serious” and that the only answer was big, internationally coordinated government intervention.
“You got to strangle this thing and suffocate it,” he recalled saying.
Instead, Mr. Bush developed Hope Now, a voluntary public-private partnership to help struggling homeowners refinance loans. And he worked with Congress to pass a stimulus package that sent taxpayers $150 billion in tax rebates.
In a speech to the Economic Club of New York in March 2008, he cautioned against Washington’s temptation “to say that anything short of a massive government intervention in the housing market amounts to inaction,” adding that government action could make it harder for the markets to recover.
Dominoes Start to Fall
Within days, Bear Sterns collapsed, prompting the Federal Reserve to engineer a hasty sale. Some economic experts, including Timothy F. Geithner, the president of the New York Federal Reserve Bank (and Mr. Obama’s choice for Treasury secretary) feared that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac could be the next to fall.
Mr. Bush was still leaning on Congress to revamp the tiny agency that oversaw the two companies, and had acceded to Mr. Paulson’s request for the negotiating room that he had denied Mr. Snow. Still, there was no deal.
Over the previous two years, the White House had effectively set the agency adrift. Mr. Falcon left in 2005 and was replaced by a temporary director, who was in turn replaced by James B. Lockhart, a friend of Mr. Bush from their days at Andover, and a former deputy commissioner of the Social Security Administration who had once run a software company.
On Mr. Lockhart’s watch, both Freddie and Fannie had plunged into the riskiest part of the market, gobbling up more than $400 billion in subprime and other alternative mortgages. With the companies on precarious footing, Mr. Geithner had been advocating that the administration seize them or take other steps to reassure the market that the government would back their debt, according to two people with direct knowledge of his views.
In an Oval Office meeting on March 17, however, Mr. Paulson barely mentioned the idea, according to several people present. He wanted to use the troubled companies to unlock the frozen credit market by allowing Fannie and Freddie to buy more mortgage-backed securities from overburdened banks. To that end, Mr. Lockhart’s office planned to lift restraints on the companies’ huge portfolios — a decision derided by former White House and Treasury officials who had worked so hard to limit them.
But Mr. Paulson told Mr. Bush the companies would shore themselves up later by raising more capital.
“Can they?” Mr. Bush asked.
“We’re hoping so,” the Treasury secretary replied.
That turned out to be incorrect, and did not surprise Mr. Thomas, the Bush economic adviser. Throughout that spring and summer, he warned the White House and Treasury that, in the stark words of one e-mail message, “Freddie Mac is in trouble.” And Mr. Lockhart, he charged, was allowing the company to cover up its insolvency with dubious accounting maneuvers.
But Mr. Lockhart continued to offer reassurances. In a July appearance on CNBC, he declared that the companies were well managed and “worsts were not coming to worst.” An infuriated Mr. Thomas sent a fresh round of e-mail messages accusing Mr. Lockhart of “pimping for the stock prices of the undercapitalized firms he regulates.”
Mr. Lockhart defended himself, insisting in an interview that he was aware of the companies’ vulnerabilities, but did not want to rattle markets.
“A regulator,” he said, “does not air dirty laundry in public.”
Soon afterward, the companies’ stocks lost half their value in a single day, prompting Congress to quickly give Mr. Paulson the power to spend $200 billion to prop them up and to finally pass Mr. Bush’s long-sought reform bill, but it was too late. In September, the government seized control of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae.
In an interview, Mr. Paulson said the administration had no justification to take over the companies any sooner. But Mr. Falcon disagreed: “They absolutely could have if they had thought there was a real danger.”
By Sept. 18, when Mr. Bush and his team had their fateful meeting in the Roosevelt Room after the failure of Lehman Brothers and the emergency rescue of A.I.G., Mr. Paulson was warning of an economic calamity greater than the Great Depression. Suddenly, historic government intervention seemed the only option. When Mr. Paulson spelled out what would become a $700 billion plan to rescue the nation’s banking system, the president did not hesitate.
“Is that enough?” Mr. Bush asked.
“It’s a lot,” the Treasury secretary recalled replying. “It will make a difference.” And in any event, he told Mr. Bush, “I don’t think we can get more.”
As the meeting wrapped up, a handful of aides retreated to the White House Situation Room to call Vice President Dick Cheney in Florida, where he was attending a fund-raiser. Mr. Cheney had long played a leading role in economic policy, though housing was not a primary interest, and like Mr. Bush he had a deep aversion to government intervention in the market. Nonetheless, he backed the bailout, convinced that too many Americans would suffer if Washington did nothing.
Mr. Bush typically darts out of such meetings quickly. But this time, he lingered, patting people on the back and trying to soothe his downcast staff. “During times of adversity, he bucks everybody up,” Mr. Paulson said.
It was not the end of the failures or government interventions; the administration has since stepped in to rescue Citigroup and, just last week, the Detroit automakers. With 31 days left in office, Mr. Bush says he will leave it to historians to analyze “what went right and what went wrong,” as he put it in a speech last week to the American Enterprise Institute.
Mr. Bush said he was too focused on the present to do much looking back.
“It turns out,” he said, “this isn’t one of the presidencies where you ride off into the sunset, you know, kind of waving goodbye.”

And one reason he will win...... more votes
It is so much fun to review past Romney statements, which he delivers frequently, including Anne's out of touch comments. Doesn't everyone have stock gifted to them for birthdays worth enough you can live on it while you attend college on Mom and Dad?
Um, these people could not be more out of touch.
“Neither one of us had a job, because Mitt had enough of an investment from stock that we could sell off a little at a time. The stock came from Mitt’s father. When he took over American Motors, the stock was worth nothing. But he invested Mitt’s birthday money year to year - it wasn’t much, a few thousand, but he put it into American Motors because he believed in himself. Five years later, stock that had been $6 a share was $96 and Mitt cashed it so we could live and pay for education. Right after Mitt graduated in 1975, we had our third boy and it was about the time Mitt’s first paycheck came along. So, we were married a long time before we had any income, about five years as struggling students.” -Ann Romney, 1994

“One of [the] most humorous I think relates to my father. You may remember my father, George Romney, was president of an automobile company called American Motors. ... They had a factory in Michigan, and they had a factory in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and another one in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. And as the president of the company he decided to close the factory in Michigan and move all the production to Wisconsin. And I look forward to occasional vacations again in such a beautiful place.” -Willard Mitt Romney, April 2012

The American Dream before the Commies took over and now want you to be jealous and envious of anyone who has succeeded. Obama has never wanted for anything. The only reason he went down to the regular people was to get his coke. He went to elite schools all his life. George Bush and his daddy the same. Clinton wasn't born into wealth and has come up and so did Reagan. But certainly not our last two presidents.
Welp = As we all know gwb and chenay were draft-dodgers ------ Oh And RobUs was also a Draft-dodger and the real pathetic thing Is , Is These people are Prospering within our country !!!!!
sixpick, Yeah, everyone is jealous of Willard and wife. Keep using that defense to defend the indefensible out of touch Romney family because it simply is not true, and proves that anyone can be made a fool of by the wealthiest 1% and be conned into defending them.
The presidne's mother lived on public assistance for a time and struggled as a single mom. President Obama was smart enough and raised right to excel and be successful without destroying other people's lives and livlihood to gain his wealeht, which is really nothing compared to Willard's.
That is the best defense: "You're jealous."
ROTFL!
Who would want to be a none person like mitt.....we aren't voting for the rest of the family anyway. I find it un-necessary to be jealous of anyone. If money is the only thing that is important to one you have already lost. Count your own blessings and don't coven others.
Wow, Babina, is that your doctoral dissertation? LOL
I'm glad we're on the same side!
I heard this Black Minister say the other day since ElizabethWarrem claimed to be a Native Indian because she claimed to be 1/32 Cherokee, could he claim to be white since he knew he was at least 1/32 white. What a looney she is. She may be smart, but missing some noodles in her head.
six--the one tenth rule still exists in our constitution, so Elizabeth can claim her Indian heritage, but no biracial person can claim the Anglo-part of them. the Constitution was written in a way to keep the illegitimate Black children of the white slaves owners from considering them as having any relation to the white side of the family. To this day, June 9th 2012, this law still exits. So tell the Black Minister you met, No he can't. legally anyway.
Well the one drop of blood rule said you were not white if you had one drop of blood from a black, so hey sister. Since it is said that all human life started in Africa, I guess we're all the same, which is fine with me, but we're all not Marxist, thank goodness. She still received her job as the first Native Indian since her cheek bones were a little high, no proof, just a way to get the job. Just what we need, another Nancy Pelosi.

10 More Reasons Why Obama Will Win In 2012 !
By Sophia Angelique Jan 2012:
So you think the GOP stand a chance? Forget it! You might not agree with Obama’s politics but, at least, he’s reasonably sane. Right now, we have GOP contenders that should all be locked up in the looney bin. In any event, here are ten reasons why Obama is going to win the 2012 election.
1. There isn’t anyone else in the running who is rational. Newt Gingrich wants to return us to Charles Dickens times when five year old kiddies worked. Ron Paul thinks that the State shouldn’t provide free health care despite the fact that his former campaign manager, Kent Snyder, died because he couldn’t afford medical care for pneumonia. Worse, Ron Paul is a qualified medical doctor. Mitt Romney is a Mormon. Mormons wear special underwear day and night to provide themselves with protection against bad things happening to them and to help with resistance against temptation. Personally, I have issues with a president who has to wear magical clothing to sort out US problems. Rick Santorum wants to return the world to biblical times so that women can serve men and men can serve themselves.
Romney: Official Opposition
April 2012: Now with Romney being the official opposition, the Republicans have lost the race for sure. There majority of people see Romney as out of touch with the reality. He made money out of taking jobs away from people. He seems unable to grasp that while business may be run for profit, government is by the people for the people. Profit is not the motive of government.
The motive of government is that the infrastructure supports the people in such a way that they are able to conduct their lives in a relatively stress free way. This includes providing services that are commonly used by all people - paid for by taxes - that includes solid and equal education for all people, equality before the law, public transport that allows all people to get to work without taking two hours to travel three miles, etc. Tax is NOT supposed to be used to fight wars, feed people in other countries before every citizen in the USA is fed, and buy enormous cars to inflate the egos of senators, congressmen, and other government dignitaries.
While Romney is fighting for people to pay less taxes, what he misses is that the majority of people in the USA pay very little in taxes. The problem is not what they pay in taxes; the problem is that what they are paid by commerce does not cover the cost of rent, nutritious food (which is very, very expensive), medicine, and other basic essentials. Most people are fighting for the latter and are unconcerned about the former. This seems to have completely passed Romney (and the GOP in general) by.
2. Obama has a beautiful woman for a wife, two cute kids, and a dog. The dog lives in the presidential office, and when nobody is looking, the dog advises the president. Dogs, as we all know, are man's best friend. As the 99% are sorely in need of friends in Washington, Obama's dog is considered the safest bet.
have a good one every one--and u 2 6. --------------------------------------------------------_OBAMA/BIDEN 2012--the choice of the future! ~~LEAN FORWARD~~
G'night Rach ---- yep the sandman is knockin' - hey !!!!
Rachel- could you give a cite to the "1/10th" provision of the Constitution- there was a provision dealing with the counting of non free people in terms of number of house seats etc- but do not recall any and 1/10th provision-
ST54-----This law was established during the time period of 1918-1934 .Interracial marriage, and dating had began to happen, or so they say,. Due to the fact, that, So many Slave owners had raped the Women who were their slaves, a lot of these children were born with white skin. The only thing that a Slave Owner had to rely on to prove whether a person was White, or Black, was to feel of their skin. They went on the theory, that if the Men, or Women, skin felt soft, they were of the White race, and if it felt rough, they were assumed to be Black. Well they theory did not hold up in court, when they tried to imprison some people for marring. At this point, they started to have problems with a child who had a white daddy, marring another slave that had a white dad, Some of these slaves would try and escape Slavery, by implying that they were White. Which a lot of them were, because a lot of White Men, and Women portrayed themselves to be black, in order to marry a person of the Black race. This had became almost impossible to win in a court room because, these children started to lose their African distinction. There are a lot of interesting factors pertaining to this ruling becoming into law. So, please go to the Wilkipedia Encyclopedia, and look up The Battle over Who's a Negro; Law and History. It will explain why the one drop rule was adopted into our Constitution.

What a mess on this last page huh Kathe ?
It's been messed up since page 5. Two loonies and the place goes to hell. About the only really serious posts were when xxx stopped by. Loved your urban dictionary stuff though. LOL! Was glad to see TM show up when she did. She always manages to arrive at the right time.
Stupidit was the poster child for narcissism. Thought every response was to her. Well, most of mine were. LOL!! What a day on the blog.
But we have done very well in posting really informative, humorous, fighting words !!
That's what the weekends are for on here....humor. I used to get really uptight when posts went off topic in a thread. Decided to roll with it or start a different thread. I'm happier now. Can't take the stress at times and it's not about the election. It's already been decided. It's the plans for the next 1 to 10 years that concerns me.

Saying something deragatory but possibly not meaning it.

Illusion of Grandeur
An Illusion is the state of being deceived. Grandeur is the quality of being impressive or awesome. Therefore, someone who has Illusions of grandeur is deceiving themselves into thinking they are impressive or awesome in some way. In reality, no one else sees them in this way.
Ann Weiss thought she knew what she was talking about - like she was some authority on English or something - but in reality, she was having illusions of grandeur.

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=delusions+of+grandeur
The Urban Dictionary
Delusions of grandeur :
1. a delusion (common in paranoia) that you are much greater and more powerful and influential than you really are
2. what occurs when you have feelings for someone that are so extreme, and you describe them, but the other person doesn't feel the same way... at all.
Pot Calling The Kettle Black :
This is a phrase that states that the person you are talking to is calling you something that they themselves are (and generally in abundance).
This comes from old times when pots and pans were generally black and kettles were generally metallic and reflective. Therefore the pot sees its black reflection in the kettle and thinks that the kettle is black.

What Mitt Romney did and didn’t do
for the state – Boston Globe
So how to judge Romney as governor? Certainly he doesn’t
rank with Bill Weld or Mike Dukakis, the two governors who define the modern
era in Massachusetts.
But he was hardly a dismal failure, as Obama chief strategist David Axelrod and
yesterday’s supporting cast charged. He was an above-average state CEO, but
could have been considerably better if he hadn’t turned his focus nationally so
early in his single term. He dealt reasonably well with tough fiscal
challenges.

Obama Twists Romney’s Economic Record
A
new ad from the Obama campaign takes aim at Mitt Romney’s performance as
governor of Massachusetts,
claiming he had “one of the worst economic records in the country.” But the ad
overreaches with several of its claims.
ad states that job creation in Massachusetts
“fell” to 47th under Romney. That’s a bit misleading. Massachusetts’ state ranking for job growth
went from 50th the year before he took office, to 28th in his final year. It
was 47th for the whole of his four-year tenure, but it was improving, not
declining, when he left.
Obama
campaign challenges Mitt Romney on Stage Stores, a bankrupt retailer that later
rebounded (updated)
"Under Bain Capital's ownership of Stage Stores
from 1988 to 1997, the company doubled the number of stores, doubled the number
of employees and grew revenues by 70 percent. When the company faced
challenging economic times in 2000, Bain Capital had no management control or
board representation and was only a small public shareholder. Today, Stage
Stores remains a successful, publicly traded company, with over $1.5 billion in
revenues and more than 14,000 employees."

overreaches with several of its claims.
The ad claims that Romney raised taxes on the middle
class. It’s true that Romney imposed a number of fees, but none of them
targeted middle-income persons. Also, Romney proposed cutting the state income
tax three times — a measure that would have resulted in tax cuts for all
taxpayers — but he was rebuffed every time by the state’s Democratic
Legislature.

overreaches with several of its claims.
The ad claims Romney “left the state $2.6 billion deeper
in debt.” It’s true that long-term bond debt — used for capital improvements —
rose under Romney, as it had in the years before he took office. But Romney
wasn’t piling up yearly deficits to support operating expenses the way the
federal government is, because Massachusetts
requires balanced budgets.

overreaches with several of its claims.
The ad claims that when Romney was governor, “Massachusetts lost
40,000 manufacturing jobs, a rate twice the national average.” That’s close to
true, but the state lost a greater number of manufacturing jobs in the four
years before Romney took office, and more in the four years after he left. In
fact, the rate of job loss in manufacturing slowed during Romney’s time as
governor.

claiming he had “one of the worst economic records in the country.” But the ad
overreaches with several of its claims.
The ad claims Romney “outsourced call center jobs to India.”
Not exactly. What he did was veto a measure that would have prevented the state
from doing business with a state contractor that was locating state
customer-service calls in India.
Democrats who controlled the Legislature could have overridden the veto, but
didn’t. The veto was supported by leading newspapers as a savings to taxpayers.
http://factcheck.org/2012/06/obama-twists-romneys-economic-record/
Massachusetts, like most states, has
a requirement that the governor must submit, and the Legislature must pass,
a balanced budget. So contrary to the ad’s suggestion, there was never an
official deficit, much less one 10 digits in scope.
"The final budget document is the creation of the Massachusetts
Legislature, which now has and did have a veto-proof Democratic majority during
Romney’s reign," said Fred Bayles, director of the Boston University
Statehouse Program. "Governors submit the first budget draft, which then
goes through major changes in the Legislature. It is disingenuous for any
governor to take the credit or blame for the final budget."

The allegations, detailed in a Florida Department of Law Enforcement report, were made by former state party Chairman Jim Greer, who is facing criminal charges for allegedly paying himself to raise money for the Florida GOP.
Crist called the statements "a bunch of delusional lies" aimed at pressuring him to change his testimony in the fund-raising case against Greer.

So just what exactly do you think if you vote Romney in? A job? Mitts record on jobs while he was governor was an unemployment rate of 5.6% when he took office and went up to about 5.9% and it was 4.7% at the end. And was 47th in of the lowest in jobs. Obama's was at 7.8 when he took office but went up to 9.2% as of Dec 2011 it was 8.5% and things are looking good to keep declining as Europe stabilises their economy. So Obama's vs Romney's is a downward change of Romney 1.2% Obama 1.3% with still time for improvement. Romney who supports the Ryan Plan will continue to extend the Bush tax cuts but even more so. And make deep cuts and eliminate some programs altogether. The Bush Tax Cuts after 12 years haven't worked to create jobs. And have been an reason for income disparity I would say at least to some degree but not the only reason. Will gas prices go down? The GOP and Romney want to keep taxpayer subsidise to remain in place and do not like investing in alternate sources and have blocked legislation to regulate and have oversight of speculation and have made no reason to believe they would do so any time soon. The budget? Romney and the GOP are for bigger military and what for? The debt will be over 16 trillion dollars by next fall and can ill afford another war? Health care under Romney? Health care costs are getting higher as we all know. And the idea of the Obamacare is what the GOP had planned just a few years back,And Romney made it a reality in Massachusetts and only 2% are not covered and has not bankrupt budget and is working fine. Obama (Romneycare) will help get cost down because instead of just some paying all will have coverage and have care before it gets to a chronic condition and ending up in an emergency room and that that costs us all more. That is if you even have health insurance, or soon will not be able to afford it because of rate increases. If you check for yourself you will find that the people at the top are making more money and if you are not part of the one percent you will continue to make less if the Ryan Plan would increase income disparity. Is that what we want? Its not class warfare its common sense. I for one do not want to serve the special interests of a few corporate heads in slavery. What's in it for you?

North Dakota: In a recent news report, state officials in North Dakota have said that they are "understaffed and overwhelmed" and "struggling to provide adequate oversight amid an explosion of activity in North Dakota's oil patch." According to this report, "Hundreds of oilfield spills and thousands of waste disposal sites are being untended or are infrequently monitored because of a lack of personnel and funding." Said the Director of the state's Department of Mineral Resources: "It's a fire drill every day." Wow, I can't add any commentary to make that more powerful. The article is scary. Last fall there was a blow-out during a hydraulic fracturing job in North Dakota and it was estimated that over 60,000 gallons of hydraulic fracturing fluid, plus 7,000 gallons of oil, were blown out of the well into the environment.
