Ed is off tonight, but Michael Eric Dyson, Professor of Sociology at Georgetown University and author ("Can You Hear Me Now?”) is filling in with a packed show.
President Obama is out defending his jobs record and Republicans are all too happy to tear it down. Robert Reich, Former U.S. Labor Secretary and UC Berkeley Professor, will set the record straight.
At a press conference Friday an offhanded remark by President Barack Obama set off a firestorm. NBC's Chuck Todd reports.
Republicans are trying to blame Obama for leaking classified documents for political gain. But the White House is firing back. MSNBC Political Analyst Richard Wolffe gives this the context it deserves.
Republican Florida Gov. Rick Scott is still thumbing his nose at the Justice Department on his voter purge.
Ari Berman, contributing writer for The Nation and Rolling Stone magazines, will weigh in.
The Justice Department is ordering Governor Rick Scott to end his efforts to purge thousands of Florida voters from the state's voting rolls, but Scott won't comply. Instead, the Scott administration is vowing to move ahead with the purge. What will it all mean for the general election in November? Ed Schultz talks with Democratic Strategist Bob Shrum.
Gay marriage is gaining support in the black community and President Obama has everything to do with it. Michael will talk with Dr. James Peterson, Director of Africana Studies and Associate Professor of English at Lehigh University, and Joe Watkins, MSNBC Political Analyst and Republican Political Strategist, about the new bend toward justice.
And Chris Rock lets loose on Mitt Romney’s religion on late night. Funny stuff? We’ll check with political comedian John Fugelsang.

I think the governor and his thug friends should be brought up on charges
Then there's Florida's Governor Scott,
Thinks drug dealing's a Democrat plot,
'Fore elections, his fame's
Faking Medicare claims.
You think this guy's a con man, or what?
Don't forget that while making drug laws more punitive Reagan was the biggest cocaine dealer in the US to get around congress defunding his Freedom fighters the Contra's who were raping and killing Catholic clergy.
I didn't pay attention instantly, but weren't ALL the negative twists from the FAUX comedy channel?? That's par for their intelligence level to not be able to comprehend. It looks like the entire Republican Party needs a course in LISTENING comprehension!
I am also progressively SHOCKED at the evil mouth on Mitt Romney. He certainly isn't making any points for his Mormon "religion?" His tongue is forked, like Satan, but maybe that religion doesn't believe in the devil!
I grew up in a Black community including Baptist and Methodist churches. Traditionally, we have been more liberal re foibles of our family members than any other race. Sometimes it takes a little longer than I am personally comfortable with, we none the less come around before anyone else. The first 4 out of 5 gay marriages I attended were between Blacks with their families present. The other was of members of two different cultures, but again, with their family members present.
Do I live in a progressive community? No, at least I never thought so. However those marriages took place in the mountains of Western North Carolina - very much part of the Bible Belt. Having said that, the area is rather academic setting as it has three sizeable universities (one rural and two urban), each county has technical or two-year colleges, and then there are the private colleges. Those darned Liberal institutions as the GOP would moan, but I've sat in some of those class rooms and was confronted with diverse opinions by students and faculties.
I suppose that I have been wearing my rose colored glasses. If so, I feel no need to apologize.
I love Professor Dyson, but tonight I had to turn him off. For the first three minutes of the show which is what I watched, he was serving up all the negative crap from Fox, and friends. It was like going to dinner and the first serving is vinegar, then bitter aloes, who will stay for the rest of the meal? Professor! you turned me off tonight.
Governor Scott is violating federal law period. The Justice Department needs to start suing Florida immediately for violating the 1965 Voter Rights Act. Eric Holder needs to go on offense and hold this vile thug of a governor to account in front of a federal judge. I thought we were the United States of America rather than the Confederate States of America. Governor Scott has a contemptuous attitude towards minorities that should preclude him from public service. The Justice Department needs to go all out in enforcing the 1965 Voting Rights Act in Florida. Florida will be key to who is our next president. All Americans should see racism for what it is and here it is because this voter purging is directed against African-Americans. Where is the evidence of wide spread voter fraud? It only exists in the minds of right wingers who hate and despise a black man as president.
I guess the Dems think that everyone in this country should vote....regardless of whether they are a citizen or whether they are even alive.
And we get the same lame GOP talking point that is meaningless because illegals won't vote. Whats the pay off storm? what do illegals stand to gain for illegally voting that will make the risk of discovery worth it. Elections are not stolen by stuffing ballots when it is far easier to have voting machines to flip votes and there is no paper trail to prove it. Really storm get out of the 1830's and join the 22nd century.
Oh...so the voter registration lists are 100% correct? Interesting theory...

Please note in the last article the statement about how in Dade county that over 1,000 illegal aliens (non-US citizens) have been casting ballots in election.
Yeah...there is no need to make sure that US citizens are the ones that are voting..
just saying...
All lies made up in the minds of delusional tea baggers and Rick Scott. Here is your first clue, rimjobs free republic is about as useful as an out house without a hole under it. I always knew you were one of rimjobs 101st keyboard brigade.
And the voter purge lists are always right? Didn't we have that discussion already? No one anything keeping non-citizens from voting it seems that the some of these republican governors don't want to do it right. No one is saying don't do it but if you're going to do it, do it right that means without hundreds of citizens on the purge lists.
If they can't put the effort in to do it the right way they need not waste our time and money and not do it at all.
CC...and what is the right way?
of course you are in favor of not doing it at all, that benefits the democrats due to the much larger number of illegal immigrants and minorities who are illegally registered.
What is the fair and right way to protect EVERYONE's rights and preserve the integrity of the system?
The right way is to make sure they are illegal before putting them on the purge list not before. If this was about getting illegals why didn't they investigate first before acting. Old unreliable DMV records which even the previous head of the state elections officials warned that they would be very innacurate.........so why did they just do it anyway without trying to find a more accurate solution?
Why is that you always claim illegals vote but then can't find any actual statistics to support that idea? If the voter fraud is so bad why isn't there any stats to prove it? Furthermore the idea that illegals who are afraid to call the police most times would vote for dems is an assumption which is just silly........why would illegals want to vote in the first place and risked getting exposed if they didn't have to.....if an illegal I don't risk it in the first place, it's just common sense!
However you have exposed, willingly, the idea non-existent voter fraud helps dems confirms the disengious nature of these republican voter ID laws. You would expect us to believe that making laws which would make it harder to vote for groups that most often vote democrat by GOP politicians is to protect our system...pious baloney. It's about helping themselves win not saving any system, you know that.
Furthermore if illegals voting is such a problem which is why we must have these new you must now show documents you never before had to show laws then about past elections? What about 2010, how do we knew the republicans who won didn't cheat with voter fraud since we didn't have these benevolent, totally necessary laws at that election. So how do we know they didn't steal the election in the first place?
Fact is while the right pretends you show zero id to vote but in fact you do, you can't just show whenever and get a ballot. This is additional requirements you support to solve a problem you can't prove exists to a large extent. Seems like the system was just fine and doesn't need such changes all of a sudden.
Also despite the aforementioned facts Governor Voldemort could actually complete the purge legally no matter what since it can't be under around three months before a federal election. Voldemort waited too long in the first place.
If the system is so slanted how did the GOP win in '10 and '00? Shouldn't they have been crushed by all this illegal support
For once I agree with you...how do we know that the elections were not tainted in 2010? I am for ID in order to make sure the elections are fair for both sides. Sure, I care which side wins, but in the end, what matters the most is that a fair election is held...so that our country is the one who really wins.
In our state's primary, neither my wife nor I had to show ID in order to vote...just show up and give a name an address. Anyone could have voted for me. According to one of the articles I quoted above, there were over 1,000 illegals that were purged from the voter rolls in the Miami area alone who had actually voted in a previous election of some sort. .If illegals are afraid to vote, how did they get on the rolls in the first place? At some point they had to go down and register, otherwise they would not be on the rolls. the same article says that there were over 53,000 dead people removed from the rolls.
According to the information I have read, the DOJ has denied the state of Florida access to key information they needed in order to complete their investigation for over a year. Now, that sure sounds like something fishy might be going on from the other side.
Fortunately, even with all of the dirty low level tricks that the Democrats try (sarcasm and humor intended to a small degree), there were enough smart people in the country to overcome those efforts. Just like their was in Wisconsin...
Hey, did anyone of you F...ing Nut Jobs notice the outcome of the Recall vote?
Dee-Bob: If you are referring to Wisconsin, you should call it an auction not an election. The GOP spent a combined total upwards toward $50 million but the Democrats got control of the Senate anyway and are more powerful as a result. Why does the GOP buy elections for its candidates? Barret raised about $4 million mostly from instate donors. Walker raised $30 million over two thirds from out of state donors like the Koch brothers and Karl Rove's Super-PAC. Would your guy have won if we had public financing paying for our elections instead of corporate bribery?
