Michael Steele, former RNC chair, and Democratic strategist Steve McMahon join Hardball to talk about why Mitt Romney is running from his first year's record as governor of Massachusetts while also being perfectly okay with criticizing President Obama's first year as president.
Mitt Romney is running for president of fantasyland with his latest claim on jobs. Ben LaBolt, Obama re-election campaign National Press Secretary, responds tonight on The Ed Show.
President Obama needs a game plan if the Supreme Court overturns part of the health care law. Jonathan Alter, MSNBC Political Analyst and Bloomberg View Columnist, has that.
Florida Gov. (and Katherine Harris wannabe) Rick Scott is officially refusing to stop his voter purge. And the attorney general is responding. Ed will have the latest with Democratic Strategist Bob Shrum.
Jeb Bush is looking back at primary season with regret while his older brother gets some tough new poll numbers. Tonight's panel - Joy Reid, Managing Editor of TheGrio.com, MSNBC Contributor, Susan Del Percio, Republican Strategist and MSNBC Contributor, and radio talk show host Thom Hartmann – will weigh in on that and much more.
If you think cable news in America gets a little rough sometimes, wait until you see the Greek version of Hardball. Watch the video:
And in our Big Finish, it's the biggest lawsuit in sports history: 2,000 former players are suing the NFL over their handling of brain injuries. Ed will ask Dave Zirin, Sports Editor for The Nation Magazine, if they have case.

i expect that the "individual mandate", a conservative idea, their answer to health care reform in response to Teddy Kennedy, and again to Hillary Clinton, will be found unconstitutional by this partisan supreme court.
the "individual mandate" WAS constitutional, according to conservatives, before it was unconstitutional.
ask james inhofe, ask mitt-flop.
Here's a little tutorial. USA has a "federal" government. Massachusetts has whats called a "state" government. The Constitution supports a [states right] to create a mandate for their citizens; a right NOT extended by the Constitution to the [federal] government. Does this little civics lesson help? :-)
apparently the conservatives have it wrong, then, as the individual mandate is their idea. their CONSTITUTIONAL idea.
it became unconstitutional when President Obama put it on the table to try to get repub votes.
mitt romney seemed to think it was a fine idea, along with ALL THE CONSERVATIVES IN WASHIBNGTON, to make this a NATIONAL health care plan. ask mitt romney who he sent to the white house to help set up his individual mandate? mitt romney sent his guys to the white house to talk to Obama's guys. in 2009 james inhofe said he thought he individual mandate was an idea they could all work with. HE WAS LYING.
the "unconstitutionality" of this law is founded on the repubs promise to each other to say NO to any and all of president Obama's economic policies.
ask the conservatives about the unconstitutionality of the individual mandate.
i know a hell of alot more than you do about the history of the individual mandate. it goes as far back as nixon, and mark pauly, one of the originators of the individual mandate, was associated with the h.w. bush administration. he is disgusted with the repubs in washington, acting as if they have never heard OF THEIR OWN IDEA, and wonders how they will address health care if they ever decide to, now that they have denied and slandered their very own idea. he is emabarassed of and ashamed of the repub party.
this is one of mitt's mitt-flops.
do some research, and then maybe we'll talk.
Mitt Romney reveals his fundamental committment to dishonesty with his claim Obama has lost ore jobs than any other president in history. The right would be smart to cease this laughable idea the economy is getting worse without subtracting jobs per month. Perhaps this is a consequence of all the money the GOP cuts from education....who knows. You can argue things aren't getting fast enough but you can't argue it's getting worse i one knows the definition of worse or what the labor statistics actually are. Worse is subtracting not adding too few.
But this is a party that has the man who never found one issue to have one opinion on so........you could have had Jon huntsman GOP but no you wanted Michelle Bachmann and Herman Cain or Donald Trump........great choices so now you're stuck with the tin man who's also a cowardly lion
More people from MA worked in CT than people from CT work in MA.
These Republicans had it in for Obama from day one. No vote after no vote, filibuster after filibuster and now The Weeper of the House has given his chamber more time off just so they can stonewall some more over the student loan issue and the President's job bill. Then they want to accuse the man of not creating jobs. It just pisses me off that they are doing this. I wonder how their constituents feel about their ineptness. Sad, very sad.
OMIT ROMNEY------------- OBAMA/BIDEN NOVEMBER 2012
Just as it was the Liberal 'right' of Wisconsin Democratic Senators to flee their state when Walker implemented his plans; it's the duty of the GOP in Congress to vote NO when Obama attempts to implement his failed policies that would further damage America. GOP stay the course till November!
The nation can't afford another default because of Republicans staying the don't raise the debt ceiling to pay our debts course. Thank your wacko republicans in congress like Michelle Bachmannfor downgrading the credit of the nation. S&P does but that won't stop you right wing morons from claiing otherwise. It is a consequence of your reality optional mindset.
S&P downgraded the nations credit rating due to mismanagement of the economy by Obama and the Democrats that controlled the Senate and House; providing no federal budget or plan to bring down the debt as they increased it by $5 Trillion - from $10 Trillion to $15 Trillion. This was the 1st time in our nations history, and it happened on Obama's watch. You seem to forget what Obama said about raising the national debt ceiling, so I'll refresh your memory.
sfcmac.wordpress.com/2012/02/02/obama-raises-debt-ceiling-to-an-unpatriotic-16-4-trillion/
Please see article on Marketwatch re spending:
The reason S&P downgraded the nations credit rating was due to Cantor and his playmates using this country economy to play chicken - he blinked and our Country lost.
-S&P
Now you may know what S and P think more than they do but they make clear the prolonged inaction by the Congress, the people who actually control the budget and are responsible for it no one else is at the heart of their growing doubt. Anyone the least bit familiar with the constitution knows the executive and judiciary hold little weight on taxation and fiscal issues. The president and judges can't order congress to do anything. Congress knew the issues were coming up and didn't act. When they did you had the wackadoodle caucus led by Michelle Bachmann saying "don't raise the debt ceiling" they refused to vote to raise it. they stalled the process and in doing so damaged the nations credit. The far right said don't raise the debt ceiling had they not it is unlikely the events would have transpired to end in the way they did.
All of congress failed to give the executive something to sign until the 11th hour. Now if you live in the alternate tea party universe you will never admit this but it;s true. Of course truth never stop you people from spin and fake outrage.
fla gov. is crazy, have he read the constituion..taxation with out representation, well thats what s hqpping.. the people(180,000 or more) shold refuse to pay taxes.. how can he run his state without money
That's a brilliant plan. Which box of cracker jacks did that one come out of? I love posts by radicals :)
The Democratic Congress should meet on the steps of Congress every morning with a big sign saying " How can we put peopl;e back to work when we can't even get Congress back to work." How many people knows that they were only in Washington 41 days out of 137 working days this year. Ever third week they are in recess plus at least a week off on every Holiday plus the full month of August. Now ther is talk of recessing for the summer because nothing will get done until after the elections. And some are blaming Obama and the Democrats
So glad to finally hear someone call it like it is, Bush's World Wide Depression. Really I wish we would just call it that everytime. That's where they beat us, naming. That's what it is and that's what we should call it.
Also, the footballers issue - never heard of a more frivilous lawsuit. They were told in high school. Idiots, rich idiots. Waste of our time, with so many extreemly serious issues. Really, banging your head as hard as you can could hurt your brain? I think they were damaged in HS and couldn't learn what everyone else did. Go Ed!
The GOP House has sat on President Obama's American Jobs act since August, 2011. We would have had at least one million more jobs if this legislation had been passed right away like the President asked Congress to do. The GOP sits on its butt and does not do a thing to help the unemployment rate yet bitches about the unemployment rates. The hypocrisy here is just glowing like a bright light. Why doesn't the GOP House get off of its butt and pass the American Jobs Act? Why not borrow the money with cheap bonds and fix our $2.2 trillion backlog in needed infrastructure? Maybe the GOP like bridges that fall down into rivers killing Americans. The GOP is the cause of the slow recovery and slow job creation. Many bills supported by President Obama would have done much to create jobs in America. The GOP is the reason for the low jobs rate. Democrats need to point to all the filibusters pushed by Mitch McConnell this last session that number well over 150. This type of obstructionism is absurd. Democrats need to go on offense and attack the GOP at every turn for their incompetence and unpatriotic behavior towards the country.
