Dawn, and who pays for those benefits once everyone gets them? There are only two ways for a nation to generate more revenue in the long term. Increase taxes on the citizenry or conquer another nation and tax THEM after the fact to improve the lives of the citizenry. The first takes AWAY from the people you want to give everything to and the latter tends to be frowned upon in modern history. That means people have to learn to live within their means instead of taking the "Oooh shiny. Gimme, gimme, gimme," attitude toward benefits you seem to promote.

Many of those who have taken the bait of what FOX Rush the GOP/TP may not think they would never cut such things as welfare food stamps education they will. What they call entitlements is a misnomer and its not just SSI Medicare Medicaid lets not forget the veterans, post office, VA Hospitals all government workers who have worked for years under contract. The Republicans will cut all this and more but have made clear to build up the military which would bankrupt the people of the USA part of a plan I believe is to just that. Obama would have a leaner meaner military and more advanced than any in the world. Unlike the republicans want more of everything they would subcontract to foreign countries and would be a windfall for their corporate buddies, furthering the national debt and laying off even more in the USA. Their wishes to privatise everything schools the USPO and even the military. That's not the end of what they are and want to privatise, water and public lands roads bridges seaports airports and all aspects of the public of which we currently enjoy as our public freedom. So foolish are so many to take the bait and fall for the blame going to the hard working people in the USA, as if it was their fault for the collapse of the housing bubble as it was not. Pushed legislation by the Republicans gave the loopholes to bankers and the congress was warned of this by many people it would one day soon come crashing down in a thud. Former house wrecker GWB wanted to end SSI and have the people invest into the stock market. Could you imagine how much more impact that would have had on the USA! It makes me sick just to think of it and may have been the first sign of the plan to default the USA. MItt Romney is the chosen one for this particular reason, he has no qualms and is a pro when it comes to smiling in your face and latter sticking a knife the backs of who he has control over. Romney will default the US on purpose and has the experience to do this, and his past work is proof. Why would Mitt do this? Because he has only god knows how much he has stashed away and doesn't want it to be known how much he has cheated the government and there are many others like him who wish the same. They want the Federal Reserve to come to an end so they can have control over a new system and banking no more FDICA backing. The evil plans have been made a long time ago in think tanks of which we have no knowledge of and can only speculate of who is behind the doors of that quiet room. If Romney takes power of the White House and the GOP/TP have control both parts of the legislature Obama will be the scapegoat for the default of the USA and when that happens all hell will break lose and anarchy will rule the day across the USA and the rest of the world will fall into it also. Many will die as the new order the Corporatocracy will have been formed. Romney does not have a family so how does he know the heart of the American family?
The family is the foundation of America.
Romney is finished as a Presidential hopeful for the simple fact that he does not have a family especially anyh children. He does not know the heart of the working class with children nor does he understand how his policies affect American's with families. Until Romney has children of his own he will never be able to relate to American families that are married and have children. But President Obama does who has a family and has tried to create jobs so that the American family can go on all the while Republicans like Boenher another Republican without a family continue to thwart attempts of President Obama to create jobs so that the American family can survive. Romney is not a family orientated president as he does not have a family other than his wife. President Obama on the other hand does have a family and knows how family life is effected without the benefit of job creation being president. President Obama knows family. Romney does not.

I wish any/all Republicans in government would be required to play on a computer, the game 'Sim City'. It's a simple game. Once a city has a deficit, (in the millions), a person has to figure out how to correct the deficit, attract new citizens, and increase revenues. One simple way to watch the city fall into ruin and go dark is to raise the taxes on housing, and retail, cut the taxes on industry, and eliminate all social and infrastructure programs. The results are immediate and become ruinous. The streets decay, the citizens leave, pollution runs rampant, and soon your city not only is barred from borrowing, but doesn't have the ability to keep the very industry it gave the tax breaks to. ....Somehow, I think something as simple as this would be lost on such people. Most, if not all in government that are Republican are sociopaths. There is no guilt, there is no projection of what their actions will do to others. There is only 'now, all the time, and all for me.'

Walker winning by a greater percentage than the first election is a sign that the taxpayers of Wisconsin agree with his fiscal policy. Balance the budget and create new private sector jobs while not laying off any state workers. And just as important not raise income taxes. Walker inherited a $4 billion deficit from the previous Dem governor and turned that around in two years by instituting sound fiscal policies. The rest of the country including the Federal Government should follow suit. Walker has shown it can be done and the majority of the people in his state supported him.
Jackson and Ed should just admit this and quit whining about who spent the most money in the recall effort. I guess that could be expected from poor losers. The simple fact is the majority of voters in Wisconsin liked what Walker said in the first election and even more said they liked what he is doing in the second. Case closed.

What is "pathetic" is the amount of money both sides spent on this needless recall election which was about the rights of PUBLIC unions to collectively bargain about wages and benefits.
The Federal Government PUBLIC employees and their unions have no such right to bargain on wages and benefits. They are set by the Congress based on recommendations from the President. And Federal employees have to contribute a percentage of their salary for health care and retirement benefits. And for the past two years the President has frozen cost of living and other pay raises for Fed employees because of the budget deficits. Why should Wisconsin public employees or any other state for that matter be different.
Right because its only fair that corporations get a say in politics. Except that is a lie based on union busting tactics to rid the country of unions ensuring that corporations buy elections like they did this one.
Unions have been on a down turn for the past 50 years now.
In 1958 around 33% of the work force were in unions.
Today just 13%.. And 6% are government workers.
So only 7% of the private sector jobs are union.

Public employees serve a vital function in local, state and Federal jobs. However they are paid equitably and receive good benefits. They should not have all of their health, retirement and other benefits totally paid for by the public.
