The jury deciding John Edwards' fate holds their eighth day of deliberations. NBC's Chris Clackum reports (May 31).
UPDATE: The judge in John Edwards' campaign corruption trial is telling jurors to keep deliberating after she apparently misunderstood them and thought they had reached a verdict on all six counts.
The jury was called into the courtroom today and U.S. District Judge Catherine C. Eagles said she understood the panel had reached a verdict on all counts. That's when the jury foreman said no.
The jury said it had reached a verdict on one count of taking illegal campaign contributions. The money involves payments from wealthy donor Rachel "Bunny" Mellon.
The verdict was not announced.
Edwards is accused of masterminding a plan to use money from wealthy donors to hide his pregnant mistress as he ran for president in 2008.

I hope they managed to throw the book at this scumbag. The only thing that will rankle is that Edwards will only rate a minimum security prison if he gets locked up.
Some judge.
Can't they lock Edwards up just for being a creep? I hope so, to be honest. I am not sure that what he did was different from what they ALL do. on a routine basis.
They all take "Bunny Money" for one reason or another that wouldn't bear scrutiny.
The only difference is he's actually being tried for his wrongdoing; but, then, he's a Democrat.
If he was a Republican, they'd be throwing him a party and saying it wasn't anybody else's business.
Waaaah Waaaah Waaaah. You should run for Whiner in Chief. Must be all the Occupy movement training from the labor unions.
Isnt it amazing what money can buy !? and here We All thought and were taught that their is only one set of laws in this country and only one prison system !? But - Not if you are wealthy - this is disgusting - if you are wealthy - the laws are on your side and on a completely different level and they get their own little apartment - with cable tv - Wow - Disgusting !!!
MD/MI, It's just like Edwards said in his 08 campaign, there are two Americas: one for the rich and one for the poor. He was right about that.
It is certain that the hands of justice are equally divided among the rich and the poor.
Such a waste.. of his and ours!

Sign two and make up your own or vote. For the last one just for fun!
I should not be surprised here, but I still am. The fact is was a hung jury is telling. They managed to sneak in one die-hard supporter into the jury pool and now Edwards is going to get away with it. Disgusting. The worst part isn't what he did, which was despicable in its own right. The worst part is he cheapens the state of politics and the office of the President with the fact he did it while running for the highest office in the nation. I don't care what party you are in, you should get caught and convicted for stuff like this. I hope people make it a habit of spitting on him if they ever see him in the streets. Or throw shoes at him like they did at Bush. Something to remind him that we know what he did.
