Here’s one of the big stories we’re working on tonight for The Ed Show: Mitt Romney's campaign just announced a fundraising contest and a Las Vegas event that will both be held in collaboration with real estate magnate and Obama birther Donald Trump.
Exhibit A: Trump just won’t give up on birthirism; in fact, he’s digging in.
Exhibit B: Romney continues to use Trump as a major surrogate and fundraiser.
So when (if ever) will Romney distance himself from the King Of The Birthers, Donald Trump?
Here’s more insanity from Trump over the past year or so...
--There are so many things that people don’t know about this man, where he comes from (:at 56):
-- I want him to show his birth certificate. There’s something on this birth certificate that he doesn’t like (at 3:10):
--You have to be born in the country. There’s not birth certificate, there’s only a certificate of live birth and that’s a different thing:

When is Romney going to submit his birth certificate to show he is an American? His father is not an American. He was born in Mexico and that makes him a foreigner.
So this means that Romney, too, is not qualified for the Presidency.
Romney, too, went to France to Live, just like Obama went to live in Indonesia for two years. Just like Obama's father was born in Kenya and makes him, supposedly, not qualified for the Presidency, according to the idiot birthers.
Since when did Hawaii not become part of the U.S? And if a U.S. birth certificate doesn't prove who you are (as a U.S. citizen-Hawaii), why are Republicans relying on them for proof in voting?
Then how did George Romney run for president? How is Mitt running for president. Lets not insult the FEC. You're basing a distraciting argument on the same foolish notions as the birthers. It's stupid when they do it it is equally dumb when anyone else does as well.
How did Arnold Schwarzenegger become Governor of California having been born in Austria? Same way that Romney's dad became Governor of Michigan.
I am showing the exact life similarities between Obama and Romney that the Republicans are using to say that President Obama is not qualified to be President. If it applies to Obama, certainly the same applies to Romney, don't you think?
And, yes, George Romney was born in Mexico, as his (George's) father, who wanted polygamy and had five wives but because of U.S law could not have but one, moved the family down to Mexico where polygamy was allowed. Most of the Romney family still lives in Mexico today.
And, yes, it is a stupid argument to be making, so why are they?
Romney was born in Michigan so he can run for President, just like Obama was born in Hawaii, and he became President.
But isn't that what our politics has now become--all about distractions and stupidness?

Schwarzenegger could never be president, his parents were austrian and he was born there.
in the case of george romney, he was born to american citizens while they were living in a mormon colony in mexico. the same is true of john mcCain. he was born in the panama canal zone while his parents (citizens of U.S.) were stationed there at a military base, as his father was a naval officer.
neither mcCain or george romney are "natural born" citizens, but they are citizens of the united states. i remember when mcCain was running, there were a few whispers about his "natural-born" citizenship because he was born in the panama canal zone.
mcCain served his country, and was a prisoner of war. i don't agree with his politics at all, but he is as american as they come.

Like I said it's dumb when they do it so it doesn't become anymore excusable when anyone else does. It's a distraction the point is not to play along and spread the distraction it's calling it out and stopping it.
Just not by birth. Panama is not a US state, nor is Mexico, where George Romney was born, yet there were no "birthers" for them, because they were Republicans. Laws don't apply to you if you're a Republican. Neither Richard Nixon nor George W. Bush was convicted of his crimes because they too were Republicans.
Barry Goldwater was born in the territory of Arizona, before it became a state, and ran for president in 1964. Another Republican not born in a US state.
Not quite there were no "birthers" for them, because they were white with wholesome sounding names like George and John not "other" sounding like Barack. The birthers just don't want to admit that but they're a racist based ideological group.

i agree that john mccain is not a "natural born" citizen, but he was born to AMERICAN CITIZENS, while his father was serving his country. i feel this should overide any questions we might have about his citizenship. just my opinion. no matter where you are born, i believe that if you are born to american citizens, you are also a citizen. that doesn't seem off base to me.

AS A GENERAL RULE, democrats do not take pleasure in destroying repubs. on the other hand, repubs want to destroy as many democrats as they can-Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter, Don Siegelman (D-gov. of alabama, falsely imprisoned by the bush administration for 3 years because they wanted to replace with a repub)Anthony weiner (i'm sorry he made it so easy for breitbart), Nancy Pelosi, Elizabeth Warren, President Obama, and others. Nixon was voted out of office BY HIS OWN PARTY, and the only reason they did that is because THEY didn't want repercussions from what HE did.
repubs LIVE to bring democrats down. even if they have done, or are doing the same things that the democrat is doing. if the democrat is innocent, they make stuff up.
they are trying to abolish the democratic party, and in their quest to do so, the end justifies the means, and they will stop at NOTHING.
as a side note, they love to call democrats names like communists and all the variations thereof. like repubs, communists, lenin, stalin, and etc., hate unions. the first thing comunists do when taking over a country is to make unions illegal. this is why repubs love communist china, and want to send our jobs there. IF all states were "right to work" states, AS REPUBS ARE TRYING TO DO, just like lenin and stalin, they might stop sending jobs to communist china, and keep the low-paying jobs right here in america.

in making the democratic party non-existent, repubs need to do what communists did years ago, ABOLISH UNIONS, and get rid of any democrat who is standing in their way, for WHATEVER REASON.
Remember Suzette only Republicans care about America the rest of us are secret manchurian citizens which is why we have to be prevented from excercising our legal constitutional rights like voting. To them only a small number can have these rights, only a small number can have american success, only a small amount can be trusted to care for the nation......and for good measure that group has to get smaller and smaller so that the socio-economic power can be concentrated in fewer and fewer hands thus ensuring its security.....and of course the more concentrated that power gets the more it can trickle down to the rest of us.
The more that power is concentrated to them the more power that means will trickle down to us.
But as we all know trickle socio-economics is not really effective, power never trickles down. The self over all Rand inspired philosophy venerates selfishness so if I have this wealth and prominence why would I want to share it? If my whole world revolves around me why would I give to you?
So you've Donald Trump who's really just one of the most annoying self obsessed people in the country and Romney who is practically a robot and has no personality. I'd pay not to have dinner with those two.

Mitt practiced POLYGAMY with the birthers, tea partiers and other radical whores of the Republican party in the primaries trying to get their support. Now he would like to divorce them and practice MONOGAMY but he does not know how to get rid of them for the general election. Their mouths and radical ideas will be the downfall of Mitten in the general election.
Reversible Mittens did make many promises shall we say in the primary that the general election will expose and be defined by. Sadly because Romney's adviser spilled the beans on the etch-a-sketch tactic he's in a lot of trouble

He said there was a spending inferno that was unprecidented there isn't

He our greatest geo-political foe was Russia, it isn't
He said he was behind the auto recovery he was
He said the Arizona law was a model for the nation he now claims he didn't

Gloria Borger on CNN was interviewing someone from the Romney campaign. I only caught
the last part of the interview and the surrogate for Romney was asked about
Romney's record in Massachusetts. He said that Romney created over thirty
thousand jobs and that was more than President Obama did in his three plus years
in office. Then he said that we are still losing jobs and it is worse than when
Obama came into office. Both are lies. The bad part is that Gloria didn't call
him on it.
Romney lies about Obama all the time. He says that he is always
apologizing for America. That is a lie! He stands on the stump and states that
the employment was bad when Obama took office and Obama made it worse. That is a
lie. He even has the nerve to say that he takes credit for the auto industry
getting back on track. another lie!
When he is asked about anything, he
doesn't answer the question. Instead he starts telling lies about how Obama did
it wrong. He never answered anything all through the debates. He is like a
cheating spouse that in fear of getting caught will start accusing the mate of
something to throw up a smoke screen to throw them off of the situation at
hand.
While writing this John king was interviewing Rick Perry. He told a lie
and wasn't called on it. It is at the least poor journalism to let the
Republicans lie about things and not being called out about them. Romney does it
every time he gets in front of a microphone. He tell the same lies so many times
that I think people will believe him.
I would say to anyone that hears Mitt
Romney talk to an audience or be in an interview to google what he said. You
will find that most of the time it is not the truth.

Who cares where Obama was born his mother was an American. So regardless hes still american, I dont see why we are making big deal about this. I think the biggest new of the week is the catholic churchs and the health care law.
The real insanity of this is when in the world did the "Birthers" become a viable, legitimate group? It's like they showed up one day and declared themselves - The Birther Movement.
Importantly, WHY do we care what they say? Stop validating them, stop wasting precious air time on this nonsense - there's nothing to analyze. no commentary necessary, no breaking story - NOTHING!

Not quite. While I would agree that the Birthers are a joke and shouldn't get any more attention than any other batch of crazies but it is sadly relevant. This is because anywhere between one out of five to half self identified republicans or conservatives believe Obama is a non-american muslim. Remember one of those Frank Luntz Fox "News" specials where he asked the crowd if they thought Obama was muslim and half of them said yes. So it is relevant since this is one of the true beliefs of millions of republicans, this is what many of them really think. The is particularly concerning in my opinion because this ideology is so unbelievably crazy

Who really cares though I mean Obama wife publicy said that when he became the pres was the 1st time she was proud to be American. Obama mother was American so hes therfore American regardless where hes born. However he was not raised on the mainland. For example he spent some time In Indonesia as a youn boy. So as a young child he was muslim, I dont even think it was legal to be a christian in Indonesia. He was also raised in Hawaii, the people in Hawaii come from the Polenessian Islands, so yes hes American but he was aised around non American cultures. Im asuming some of it must have rubbed off on his wife. I dont know if I have ever heard a Presidents wife say she was not proud to be an American.

Yes, it is dumb when they do it, but when they have been called out on it, they now just disavow it ever being said and continue it at a later date. In case you have not noticed.
However, how do you get the bully to stop bullying you? Do you just ignore the bully and the bully stops? No. You walk over to the bully before the bully has had a chance to do anything to you and punch him/her in the nose and it stops, or you give them a taste of their own medicine. They can always dish it out but they can never take it.
But ignoring them or not stooping to their level, as some would say, never works with them because they then consider you a chicken or worse, you are actually guilty of what they are saying about you, when you aren't.

Which reminds me, the city of Newport Beach just sent the Obama campaign a bill for $35,000 for the same thing in the aftermath of his fund raising dinner at a Newport Beach home.
The same can be said of Trump. Maybe America need to see his birth certificate. It is my understanding he got his money from his father so are we still talking about an American and that goes for all of those birthers who won't let this crap die away. It's a smoke screen and sometimes you need to look at the people making the smoke screen. Look at Coffman. I am going to assume with a name like Coffman it is German. Is he an American with German heritage or a German American that was born in Germany? There are too many ways to look at these birthers when making claims. Again look at the Republicans in Iowa. Are they Americans with a different heritage or were they born in a different country and came to America. Like the old saying goes when digging a hole for someone else make sure you dig one for yourself. Oh yes one more person. The Secretary of State in Arizona. What is he hiding living in a state on the border of Mexico. Some or none of thes people may not run for President but don't knock others heritage because someone is going to knock your heritage.
It was my understanding that Trump went broke enough to file for bankruptcy somewhere around the time he was married to his first wife, then built his fortune back up from the bottom. Don't get me wrong, the man is an ass in every sense of the word and his "broke" was probably more money than I would know what to do with. I don't know of many people, from either party, that would argue that. But he did rebuild his empire after he managed to tank most of it. I will acknowledge him for that.
Mittens will never distance himself from the "Donald"! He's big bucks from the birthers in the GOPher party and that means small dollar donors to pump up his lagging coffers. You see, Gov. Romney (yeah, its funny to say that because he's even running from that record) is already noticing a problem from the primaries. He's pumped the majority of his big dollar donors already to fund his direct campaign and that means they've hit their limit. Now they need small dollar donors to take up the slack! The only why he can do this is to reach out to birthers and other similar minded people. So the "Donald" was a create choice to get those small dollar donors to pay up! Smart move Mittens, it'll hurt you in the long run because moderates and independents will tie the two of you together!
Trump at this point is a celebrity side show. He holds no more actual political power in the Republican Party than someone like George Clooney holds with the Democrats. He's a very public face because of the Apprentice and his "presidential run" but even that campaign was a huge publicity stunt. Taking him seriously as anything more than a potential donor is an exercise in futility.
I am sorry to say that I went to high school ( New York Military Academy) with Mr. Trump. He is disliked by the Alumni and has been making a fool of himself as well. Trump is only interested in staying in the news. Mitt Romney should get away from Trump as it will only ensure that he will lose the general election.
Obama might lose the next election, but it won't be because of his birth certificate. Trump and those pushing this conspiracy would never have voted for him in the first place...its nothing but a RED HERRING...the longer this continues the more it damages the GOP.
It is highly unlikely that Mitty will win this or any other election when people find out he has “Trump” tattooed on his ass.
