I don't trust Mitt Romney with education because I afraid he is not radical enough. I am a strong support of vouchers and I am afraid that Mitt is too much in the pockets of teachers unions in fact all politicians are. I dropped out of high-school (a very very bad school) only to enroll in a community college, I now have a B.S. and am working on my masters and PhD. No-one in my dead end community supports the government school because they know they are death traps! Vouchers now!
Go to a private school if you want but don't ask taxpayers to pay for it.
Mitt is showing his ignorance about education. He needs to get his hands and feet into the water to understand whether its safe to jump in. He needs to listen to the teachers all over country and then offer an intelligent plan for public education.
Are you kidding me! The GOP wants to privatize everything so that their fat cat friends are in line to make big bucks...Stop the insanity now!
HELL NO!!!!
Privatized Schools = 50 students per class.
Underpaid teachers = Unqualified teachers
Privatized For Profit schools = Soda & Candy Machines in every class.
Privatized For Profit schools = NO Physical Ed (Fat Kids)
Privatized For Profit schools = Synthetic Food / Please Google: Turkey Twizzlers
You forgot the dumping of science and the indoctrination of creationism.
The religious right would love to get their greedy hands on our kids so they can bend their minds and produce a new generation of followers to build up the coffers.
Not just no, but HELL NO! My biggest fear is that the Republican right-wing-nut-jobs want to destroy public education and replace it with theocratic for-profit brainwashing institutions where children will be taught creationism and abstinence-only misinformation. We have already seen what they intend to do by rewriting history as evidenced by the Texas Board of Education!
You go, Grandma! Tell it like it is! I agree!
Thing about privatizing education is that it puts taxpayer funding for education into the pockets of a few wealthy families who can afford to capture the sector, AND it places curriculum content in the hands of the Far Right--as it already is in the home schooling sector. Now notice that the country grew strong and great from PUBLIC education and the classical LIBERAL ARTS curriculum. Privatization eats jobs and takes us in the direction opposite prosperity. And since I don't want a fascist future, the last thing I want is for the Far Right to tell our kids what to think. I want our kids to be told HOW to think--in tried and true public education systems.
What is wrong with attacking his religion??????? It is not christian it is a cult. That is all he knows. They killed 100s' of their own at the meadows. Why are they letting him slip past that???????????Just talk about Obama not being american and no birth certificate. He just wants the title governor or Pres. He can't do the job. He did nothing when, he was gov.
@Sueling
What really bothers me about his religion is how they use church money to fight civil rights legislation, to sway elections, why are they trying to influence government? This bothers me more than the 'magic underwear'.
i don't trust mitt are any gop ,there all out of the rich not the 99% working class
I wouldn't trust Romney with my goldfish, let alone education! No to Flipper Mitt!
I don't trust Mitt Romney to take out the garbage! Obviously his "education" tactic is modeled after his "business" tactic.
Trim down the work force for profit. Less teachers and more kids in the classroom.
Mr. Private Schools never stepped foot in a legitimate classroom. He went to school to play. Daddy paid the bill.
@Nancebelle
I might add that 'W' had a cross eyed pappy that paid bills for him too. Too bad that same cross eyed pappy can't pay our bills he made us responsible for.
His ideas on education hark back to the days when only the well-to-do were schooled past the 8th grade (if that).
For-profit schools have often been a disaster and in many cases are where failed teachers, who could not perform in public schools, found a home.
Anyone who thinks his ideas are good, needs to have a reality check. Public schools, when funded as they were thirty or forty years ago, produced superior students that have been able to compete and lead in the world of commerce and also politics. Today's schools are operating on marginal budgets, in the name of austerity, and the children are suffering. I graduated in 1956 and school funding was a priority in those days, not a nuisance as so many politicians seem to regard it today.
Andie--those politicians have denigrated public education because they have their hands in private enterprises of all kinds.
Same way they want to privatize the post office. Somebody will pay them well to get their hands on delivering mail and kidnapping our kids for profit.
romney and his ilk want to create a permanent underclass --- the 99 %. then just like all the other greedy 1%ers they will canabalize themselves until there is a single dictator. that is why greed is a deadly sin. and of course lying is covered in the Commandments.
i hope the repubs enjoy the smell of brimstone and can take the heat... huh-huh ha heh-ha(romney donkey laugh). his inappropriate laugh drives me nuts.
this guy scares the hell out of me! its stressing me out that he even made it as the nominee! my partner and i were considering having a baby this year...we may need to totally rethink that idea. I can't imagine bringing a poor defenseless innocent little baby into a world where mitt the twit was the president! that would be torture!
Here in Florida, Governor Rick Scott has already GUTTED the education system ..... I have a boy, soon to turn 16 ..... He has ranked in the top 3% nationally, consistently through his school ..... We now have him at home, as the local schools were failing him miserably .... He was spending 1/2 of his classroom time, practicing to pass the Florida FCAT... which he could GRADUATE HIGH SCHOOL, score wise, since 5th grade..... His Lexil rang is off the charts ..... Here is a child who WANTS to learn and succeed... and he is being knocked down by POOR education funding in the state...... We have NO OPTIONS but to go to a magnet school or private... the public system here is BAD!!!! .... What can a parent do????
1st off I think overcrowded classes mean over crowded schools and long registration waiting list. Im thinking that would make education a first come (with money, remember no programs) first serve business.
2nd if this is the case what happens to those who can't afford...no schooling!? Or home schooling, which would definitely put a gap between the classes. I that doesn't sound like class warefare I don't know what is!
Take it from someone who has lived in Massachusetts for 56 yers. Public education and Mitt Romney do not mix. After he slashed education budgets, he passed those cost off to the towns to raise property taxes. 4 years and we were glad to see him go. Do not, I repeat do not vote for Nitwit Mitt.
ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! I trust teachers with education, NOT Romney!! This is just a scheme so Republicans can bust teacher unions... Obviously they DON'T care about the children!!
I would've said Hell Naw but that was't a option you can't trust Mittster with your dog already
His own son is following daddy for profits, how can you trust Mitt Romney.
The best point Ed just made it ~ All Romney's policies are designed to take from the poor and give to the rich.
