No, he does not. Today he was a joke and made a fool of himself. The man is and empty vessel, and has nothing to offer in business, education, economics, creating jobs, or the Presidency........I would really be fearful of him handling foreign affairs.......or even just a meet and greet in this country......wow is he ever a waste of time.

Public Education??? Hell, I don't even trust him with Public Transportation!!! "Bus? What's a Bus???"
t-mom, david: agree. he scares me. he can't be trusted with anything. if the unimaginable would ever happen, he would only be a front, a puppet for the repubs
David I second your Hell No! The man could not run a dog house. I hope America is really paying attention and reading between the Romneys Lines ! Profit , gut education, sell the teachers down the river. Sounds alot like what he did For Bain Capitol. Swoop in and destroy everything he lays his hands on. My daughter worked for charter school and she got cut. Charter schools can be cut throat. For many it is the last school to reach them and turn there lives around. The man has no idea and is so damn disconnected with the realities many face. The man needs to get education in hard knocks school because many of the inner city kids have to worry about more things than he can fathom. How David can one man be so rich and be so stupid at the same time?
Mutt Robme and any other Repug CAN NOT BE TRUSTED WITH ANYTHING, WHETHER IT'S THE GOVERNMENT AND PUBLIC RELATED SERVICES.
They only want to destroy government and related services, and turn all those public services into private for profit services which the poor and middle class will eventually not be able to afford.
NOR CAN THEY BE TRUSTED WITH PRIVATE BUSINESS, FINANCIAL SERVICES OR WALL STREET.
They want to deregulate everything related to corporations and Wall street, to allow them to gamble with people's money and health to increase the profits of the 1% even more... at the expense of the 99%.
Mutt Robme will be the President of the 1%, for the 1% and by the 1%.
President Obama is the President of the People, for the People and by the People.
Mitt Romney spent his entire education in the best private schools money can buy. Just a hunch, but I think he may be out of touch with,.. oh, ...say,.. the free school lunch program that the Ryan budget will cut?
A little bit out of touch with how many students per classroom is ideal?
A bit of an appeaser with the union busters?
A bit too interested in "schools for profit"?
Obama 2012. He does understand the public education problem and wants to put it right.
Mitt Romney understands one thing: profit.
No, Mitt Romney can't be trusted on anything except money, that America already has and thus we don't need him. President Obama has the leadership that our country and the world needs. Mitt Romney should concentrate on opening up new corporations and give jobs to the people that he is bragging to be very good at and thus show by his deeds.
India, I so agree. They want to dismantle and privatize everything America has. I bet they all ready have dibs on who gets what if hes elected.
Hi Sen!
Romney should get more private sector experience. Being able to read a balance sheet after 25 years, like he responded to TIME as his one credential for job creation, is not a good WH "recommend". I can read a balance sheet too. I'm not running for President and would have more self respect than to tout that I'm a job creator based on that one ability.
Romney is going to get slaughtered by Obama if he ends up being the GOP nominee.
Obama/Biden - 2012 !!
@kathe
W knew how to read a balance sheet too, remember he graduated from Harvard Business school with an MBA? Look what that got us... An economy that collapsed and a housing market that will not recover. But they get to blame the next guy.
Governor Romney Presided Over An Education System In Massachusetts That “Outperformed Every Other State In Both Reading And Math”:
Under Governor Romney, Fourth And Eighth Grade Students In Massachusetts Scored Highest In The Nation In English And Math Tests. “The National Assessment of Educational Progress, a comprehensive reading and math examination given to hundreds of thousands of students periodically since 1990, including in 2003 and last spring, was the first nationwide exam to allow a direct comparison between two successive test administrations since Mr. Bush signed the law in January 2002. … The test results pointed to some clear standouts. Massachusetts students outperformed those of every other state in both reading and math at the two levels tested.” (“Bush Education Law Shows Mixed Results In First Test,” The New York Times, 10/20/05)

Sometimes facts are hard to accept.
Mitt should get an award WOW!
Maybe he should be a plumber.
Sen...
You would trust Romney with YOUR money???
You're braver than I thought...
Kathe 1.9 : I agree. President Obama 2012.
David 1.14 : No. He, Mitt Romney will take it all.
For some reason republicans think education isn't important for the average American. Privatized education that the wealthy can afford seems to be what they want.
They're trying to do four things. First, kill organized labor by going after the most powerful organized labor groups--the teachers' unions. Once you cut off the head, the rest of the body (of the labor movement) dies.
Second, Repubs want to take away a prime source of "gateway jobs." In many families, the first people to go to, and graduate, from college go into public service positions--especially teaching. Then, an education ethic is established within families that encourage kids to develop skills and knowledge. The decent pay and good benefits earned by teachers (and, often, both a husband and wife teach) allows them to provide support for kids who can climb the economic ladder.
Third, they want to grab the money now spent on public education, a non-profit endeavor, and turn it into profits. There are massive potential profits in education. Not just the revenues from tuition and fees, but also from incorporating textbook and educational materials sales. When you bring in private entities to run them, they'll reduce teaching positions and cut salaries and benefits for those who remain to the bone. That will generate big profit streams.
Fourth, they want to hold down minority and poor children whose parents are more likely be vote with the Dems, and who figure to grow up to be Democrats. The private firms that will run our schools will take those profits and re-allocate them to schools with a higher percentage of wealthier, already better served students--especially in Republican strongholds.
fore heylookout, They fear an educated electorate. I think it is that simple and that Machiavellian.
This eroding away at education began decades ago. At least 15 years ago I was convinced it was purposeful. I believe it is much easier to control people who are easily distracted and ignorant of the issues.
They want control. It is easier to wrest control of an uneducated electorate, of a work weary electorate, of a tired electorate, of a sick electorate, of a financially strapped electorate, of a resigned electorate.
@India
Let's not forget and a 'thrifty working class'. They want to get rid of the safety net and force people to work for less than minimum wage. They actually are pushing to lower the minimum wage...
Fore,
You are too kind and give them wa-a-a-y too much credit.
First, NO, they don't think, they have not had to. As a result, whatever they "think" is nothing more than some spaghetti-against-the-wall theory they dreamed up (or paid someone to dream up for them). It's not based on any real or practical experience - it's just some nonsense that's spews forth (LOUDLY) in order to try and intimidate anyone who might dare question what facts their "theories" are based on.
(2) ..."privitized education that the wealthy can afford" - switch out "privitized" for "grandfathered-in." The great-grandfather, grandfather, father, uncle, cousin who may have built the school, the library, the stadium. It's expected that not only will the grandfathered-in attend Educational Institution XYZ, they will excel.
And excel they will - unfortunately, not necessarily because they were excellent students; or because they were instilled with life lessons of compassion, coping skills, critical thinking, empathy, sportsmanship, et al. No, they will "succeed" because their pre-planned educational path is based on the past achievements of others - not on their own merits. Bet that does a whole lot for building character and self-esteem - NOT!
Education, like respect and trust, no matter the family name, or how much money, if not earned, means absolutely nothing.
And, that's one of the many reasons they are never going to get it - they don't know how.
do I trust a man who attended private schools his entire life to know how to help public schools... HELL NO
No...I don't trust Romney to run our country in a fair and balanced way....
Not just no. Hell No! Why would anyone want shareholder's making decisions instead of school board's?
I wouldn't trust this man to empty a bedpan. I absolutely would not trust him to properly handle public education in this country, nor would I trust him in any level of government.
Hewouldn't get near a bedpan-- he wouldn't help someone who was sick.
Romney wouldn't empty his own bedpan, he would hire someone to do it for him, after he took the company public, so he could profit from the ordeal!
Ann wouldn't touch that bedpan either- she might get her $5K watch and $1K t-shirt dirty.
@David
Oh Kitty has claws!
ethelouise,
They have always hated the minimum wage law, just as they hate anything which is a safety net for the poor, the elderly, the disabled, etc. People need to read the Ryan budget, the one Mitt Romney calls "marvelous", the one Mitt Romney will inflict on the U.S. if he is elected.
If you ever doubted their intentions, that will remove all doubt.
Republicans will hurt this country. Romney is one of the worst. Money is the only thing republicans want from all of us.
Romney is Robinhood but instead of taking from the rich, he would steal from the poor and the lower middle class. Middle class to Romney is a family that only has 3 or 4 million in cash and assets.
Toni Kuchta,
re: #7 Have you ever heard the archaic term "cannon fodder"?
How can anyone think Romney for the American People as long as he has money in offshore accounts to avoid paying taxes? He loves his country and it's people? Really? He loves his country so much that he doesn't want to support the very country and people that has provided him his good fortune? Really?
NO. I wouldn't trust Mittless to tell me what time it is.
I am sure Romney could tell you what time it is from his trusty Rolex watch. The kind people pay thousands for to make sure he got a real one, not fake.
He could, but he would probably lie about what time it was.
Definitely not. He doesn't give a damn about education for the people who can't afford his type of elite schooling. He doesn't have a clue about the real world.
Yes, Just like a tiger in a cage with sheep in the same cage! This guy (willard) is nothing but phony plastic man!God help us if he ever gets to be president! All the democratic party has to do is run ads with the quotes by his rivals during primary. Now they are supporting him but we need to go back and listen to all those remarks. Now they want to be president? Boy, money does talk. Wilard with millions in his different countries, still begging for more from regular people.Just like Neopolian asking for more, but when he died he wanted to leave his hands wide open to show that he is leaving earth just like he came (empty handed). Romney can not spend his own money, and begging for more from middle class people. Hard to believe this guy is real!
Mitt Romney would rather defund public schools to deprive poor kids of the opportunity to have an education, according to him, he does not care about poor people
Are corporations people? Hell NO!
Ed has pink ears!
HELL no i don't trust him with anything
If your parents don't instill good study habits while you’re
very young, no teacher is going to be able to make you learn even if parents
have to pay over and above their taxes to send you to school. There often is
that rare individual with a knack of holding a child’s attention and making
them want to learn more about a subject. Like books, if parents read a lot to
children while they are young, that child will navigate toward books naturally
while they grow.
Private schools, Catholic school as an example, how many
Catholic parents can't afford to send their children, especially if there is
more than one child, it's expensive. So like China, Romney wants to choose
which child shall be educated? And all the other children?
The government is going to give you a voucher to help pay
for school? Typical of the Republicans
and their constant screaming about small government, while ever expanding. This
new GOP is continuously overseeing your family life right into your bedroom.
Hello Easynan,
and i agree with you because this type of separation foster a form of Nepotism that is not at all very American to me...
Reverend Jesse Jackson once warned about what he called "The Joshua Generation"...which he was worried that Our Children were being taught they were Superior to Publicly Educated Children...and this is so Wrong!!!
they should know the American Tradition of Shared Sacrifice and they should be introduced to Greater Polity to reinforce those values!!!
the facts of the matter is that as a young poor little Rankin girl my family had been long time shunned in my Own Community that had no expectations for my life outside of Whoredom...but i saw that at an early age and i have been fighting to break free from that sentiment for my whole life...
my mother had me at a very young age, which was hard, but also rewarding because she still lived at home with all her brothers and sisters who were still in school and they inspired me to learn all i could...my mom's youngest sibling read to me all the time and went with mother for support when they tested me into School early...mostly because i knew to much to hang-out around home where they were frightened i may pick-up on those ugly elements of Our Community...and i loved, even ran to and would never miss a day of School!!!
so please leave Our Schools alone and let the Children have a chance!!!
Willard Romney wants to privitize everything, including our children's education. The bottom line with him is money, profit, and wealth for the 1%.
Prove your statement?
Hell to the no !!! We can't trust Romney with anything.
Romney has always gone to private schools and knows nothing about the middle class and the poor.
no. Repubs have been trying for years to privatize education, change history books and make creation day one of life on this planet. Their goal is to contract out like they did with the military, than make all their cronies rich off the backs of middle class tax payers.
Why do these people insist on tearing down the Middle Class to prove they have more money then us as if we don't already know.Education is the heart beat of middle America and they are trying to profit off it,by giving it a heart attack.Middle America if you let the Republican party screw you out of you education system then the rest they do to you financially you will deserve.
