President Obama goes after Romney on Bain, and Randy Johnson, a former employee of a company that was purchased by Bain Capital, joins Ed Schultz.
The Obama campaign isn't backing off as the White House remains on the offensive on Bain Capital. But where is Mitt Romney?
E.J. Dionne, a Senior Fellow at The Brookings Institution and Washington Post columnist, analyzes Romney’s attempt to ditch his job-killing record at Bain.
The birthers are back: Arizona officials say they might not put President Obama on the ballot, and Iowa Republicans have adopted birtherism as part of the party platform.
Michael Eric Dyson, Professor of Sociology at Georgetown University and author ("Can You Hear Me Now?”), joins Ed to discuss the real personal attacks in the 2012 presidential campaign.
In a new low for U.S. Rep. Steve King, the congressman compares immigrants to dogs at a town hall meeting. Howard Fineman, NBC News Political Analyst and Editorial Director of the Huffington Post Media Group, will discuss the GOP’s problems with Latino voters.
Republican women in the House say their party is focused on helping women, but their policies tell a much different story.
Joy-Ann Reid, Managing Editor of TheGrio.com and MSNBC Contributor, MSNBC host Alex Wagner, and Catherine Crier, attorney and best selling author ("Patriot Acts: What Americans Must do to Save the Republic"), will all join Ed on the set to respond.
Two weeks to the recall election in Wisconsin and it's coming down to big money vs. the people. And school teachers are being targeted in an unbelievable way. You won’t want to miss Ed’s commentary.
And in the Big Finish, House Speaker John Boehner becomes a surprising ally with Democrats when it comes to making the wealthy pay their fair share. Ed will ask David Cay Johnston, columnist for Reuters, Pulitzer Prize winner and author ("Free Lunch"), how that will play with Republicans.

The President must continue to pound this truth of What a Romney as president would do to this nation. Robert Rishe has drawn a very good visual of Romney and Bain and I hope Ed can get hold of it. Romney for many across this nation will forever hold the tittle of Job Destroyer its what he did and him and Bain made out like Bandits. I believe the people who lost everything not a man who has unseasonal thirst for more wealth. Give this man free reign over America and we will all be collateral Damage!
The collateral damage has already begun in Pa. I have an 82 yr old friend who was depending on services from the local Area Aging for house keeping, grocery shopping, and getting her out of bed in the morning along with a life alert system that she was paying a discount for. All of that was taken away yesterday. I am a nurse for 5 weeks in the summer for a camp of poor inner city kids. Up until now we have been able to servs 600+ kids, this year it will be about 400. If Romney gets in it will give Republican govenors like ours a free pass to austerity and the only way these rich b!@#$ds will notice is when their immigrant house keeper won't be able to come and clean their filthy rich houses because her car that she lives in with some little kids that are hungry because she can't get food stamps and the local soup kitchen is closed because it does'nt have funding and her car is broke down and she can't afford to fix because they don't even pay enough to live on. Oh yeah the collateral damage has started and Mitt Romney's election to office will throw this country into an all out revolution. Us American have far too much manners than to revolt in the streets like in Europe. We try to go the proper way of using the ballot box but that is even getting taken away from us.GET OUT AND VOTE. Politics are not local anymore!
I ment Unreasonable thirst for more wealth!
the potus should keep attacking romneys bain record bc thats what romney started his campaign with.bragging about how much of a good business man he is
Anyone think it's odd that Obama is attacking Romney over Bain rather than over his record as Governor of Massachusetts? Wouldn't his actual record as a legislator be a little more relevant to how he would govern things in the future? And last I checked, Romney did a decent job in Massachusetts. Just some food for thought.
John, it's true that Romney cut taxes while Gov. of Mass. but the counties and cities had to increase thei8r taxes to make up the difference. I call that robbing Peter to pay Paul. Don't forget he led a state thar was 47th inj the nation for job creation. That's nothing to write home about.
It's also one of the smallest states in the Union, which would factor significantly in the job creation numbers since using percentages for a stat like that would be an apples and oranges situation. There is only so much land in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, or New Hampshire to go around. Either way, he seemed to do well for the people of his state while leading that state. Even if he didn't I care more about what he did running an actual government than a private business. We learned the hard way in California that being business savvy does not help you keep a government functioning with the Governator.
John - Mass. might be small in landmass but it has a million more people then Wisconsin which is one of the larger landmass states. In other words his record as governor is even worse.
He couldn't have done too good a job. Mass was 47th in job creation. Ask the people that live there, they don't think he was so great.
He also added two jobs for everyone new resident in the state during his tenure. I wish California could claim the same.
The "Birther Issue" is a Republican Propaganda issue.
The FBI, CIA, and Secret Service all thoroughly investigate all Presidential candidate. The Rebs use these emotional issues to prey on the ignorant and easily swayed ignorant for their votes.
The republicans are just a bunch of racists idiots. Does the regular republican out there realize what the party is doing to the country right now and what they will do to if they gain more power, they had better stop wishing before they get what they are wishing for, then we will all be sorry!!!
I don't know, did Democrats out there know what the Dixiecrats in the 50's and 60's were doing segregating the south and fighting to stop the Civil Rights movement? Don't throw stones in glass houses categorizing a whole political party as "racist." Your skeletons are a LOT worse than those on the Republican side. Woodrow Wilson screening "Birth of a Nation" at the White House worse.
Back up the Truck and MOVE GOP/ TP OUT!!... VOTE DEM ACROSS THE BOARD!!
Yes, let's all treat our politics like rooting for a sports team rather than voting on an individual basis and evaluating the facts and issues relevant to each election. It's not like we need to read about and research the laws and lawmakers we vote on or anything. The Party will do that for us. That will really improve things.
John-3232336-
Kind of pathetic that you have to go back 60 years for your example. Why not mention the Republican party was the party of Lincoln?
Sorry, TheRealChris, I didn't realize turning hoses on school kids to keep them out of a building and hanging people from trees had a time limit for being wrong. Wait out the past and it goes away, right?
I mean it's not like there are any people in the Democratic Party of today that use hate and fear to try to push an agenda forward. (You know, except for people like Alan Grayson trying to compare his opponent in the last election to a member of the Taliban, and being PROUD of the ad where he said it.) As long as you hate and mock the "right people" that makes it okay. Just choose a more convenient target. I see how things go now.
If Romney wants to use his time at Bain to tout his "business experience" and show "how he created jobs" then it's fair game to point out the downside too! In addition....I think Arizona is actually an alien planet. What is WRONG with these people? How many ways and shapes of birth certificate will it take to make this stop!? It's a beautiful state but it appears to be populated with a lot of idiots! apologies to the sane people, but come on.........
Where does Ed find these charts like the ANNUALIZED SPENDING GROWTH chart shown today (5/22/12) on today's Ed Show. The source says MarketWatch.com but no one can find it there. Don't misunderstand me, I believe it's accurate; I just would like to be able to find the chart at the source stated. Anyone know where to find it?
Shouldn't the Gov. of Arizona be forced to show her birth certificate and also prove beyound a doubt she is not an illeagel
She sure as hell is an alien.
An eyeopener to anyone who thinks you can just tax the rich

An eyeopener to anyone who thinks you can just tax the rich
LMAO
ok. let's really look at mittens. what is the most obvious problem he has with bain and his money.
offshore accounts. how much? where was it generated? tie it back to sources at bain and beyond. why are these funds offshore at all? why are they not here in the u.s. being used to provide capital to new business through the banking institutions? he claims to be a job creator but has money tied up overseas that creates nothing here at home.
why is this man not releasing his tax returns - his current return was put on an extension until just before the election - october. why? if this man wants his record to speak for him, show his returns for the past 10 years. how is he hiding his money and where.
if he wants to run on his record at bain, release records on every company deal he was personally involved in - where are they now? how many employees do they have working? how many were displaced when bain came in. where are their retirement funds?
most important, how much money did he actually earn for investors because of his dealings.
and...have you noticed that the companies he gutted at bain are all in some form of either light or heavy industrial manufacturing? (union jobs?) i believe he brags about staples. (non union) they make nothing that they sell. they are a retailer. where are those retail products coming from? china? what portion of the etch-a-sketch market is actually being made in america?
these are the same questions you would be asking before you hired him to run a corporation. why then, does he not allow full disclosure for the job he is applying for?
i think it is time for him to disclose a full resume for the job he is applying for.
oh.... at least king has a chocolate lab!
Where can I find that chart showing federal spending going down during Obama's term??!!
Seriously? Americans need to know exactly what he did. He has no social skills, does not have a clue how the average American lives and IMHO he is a sociopath. We need to increase wages, MORE unions, and a government For The People.
You or Rachel or Lawrence need to retell the story of Aaron Feuerstein and Malden Mills, and compare Mitt Romney with a real human being.
President Obama needs to keep hammering the Bain Capital investment issues. The truth is that there is good capitalism and vulture capitalism. Good capitalism makes jobs for workers by growing profitable businesses and manufacturing firms on Main Street. Venture capital is of course part of this process. But often times the zeal for profits destroys good companies because of avarice. Investment bankers start by loading the good businesses down with debt. Then they take those businesses into bankruptcy. All the workers get fired and screwed out of pensions and benefits. Then, the vulture capitalists take the profits for the plutocrats and hiding them in Cayman Island tax shelters. The effects of vulture capitalism are terrible for workers, middle class people, and the small businesses that depend on the cash flow of the pillaged businesses to make payroll and profits. We don't need anymore vulture capitalism. We need more good capitalism that promotes growth by investments in Main Street businesses rather than rewarding Wall Street investment bankers who serve the plutocrats.
Vulture capitalism is the equivalent of a large infestation of Norway rats or Roof rats in a building. Vulture capitalism leaves filth and destruction wherever it goes. Like a large rat infestation that gnaws away at the America's future, the greed and avarice of firms like Bain Capital, destroy honest businesses on Main Street. These Wall Street investment bankers, who are the largest vermin, can eat up tomorrow's seed corn that our children need for their future. These Wall Street rats do this to satisfy their insatiable greed, so they gnaw away at our country's future investments. These vulture capitalism rat infestations will destroy the middle class which is what the rodents at Bain Capital are all about. The only way to deal with these Wall Street vermin are aggressive antitrust laws and tough regulation that makes the Republican rodents scurry away for easier meals.
Romney's business principles at Bain are reflected in his tenure as Massachusetts governor. 47th IN JOB GROWTH!!!
Did you know that more people watch the radar image on the weather channel at 8PM than watch The Ed Show? Local on the 8's. I find that exceptionally amusing. Ed's live show can aspire to be more stimulating than a map image.
Romney may have been Governor of the 47th best job creating state.... but he still created far more jobs in MASSACHUSETTS than Obama has created in the entire country.
And I'm sure that that 47th ranking had nothing to do with the uber-liberal tax & spend state legislature. "But Obama is being thwarted by Congress!" you say... Now he is being thwarted - THANK GOD- but for 24 months Obama had a supermajority in Congress. Very few Presidents have been able to start their terms with such an agreeable set up. Obama is really just that bad.
Romney has 25 years of real world business experience. Good, bad or in-different. What exact qualifications does Obama have to run the world's largest economy? His community service? Get real. His economic team has been in shambles for years. Amateur hour to say the least.
