Republicans have been saying that taxing the wealthy only hurts the job creators. Billionaire Nick Hanauer says he's not a job creator and makes the case for raising taxes on the rich, in order to boost the buying power of middle class consumers. He talks with Ed Schultz about changing our thinking about taxing the rich.
Billionaire entrepreneur argues he's not a job creator

Yes he isn't a job creator the middle class are the ones how create jobs. This guy tell the truth.
"makes the case for raising taxes on the rich, in order to boost the buying power of middle class consumers"
Theb left must really think the average, hard working American is retarded. Raising taxes on anyone does not boost the buying power of anyone, let alone the middle class.
Have you ever done math or was a skewed version of it taught at the school of Reaganomics? If someone has say 5 million dollars and they need cars for their family and they purchase 5 cars they maxed out their needs and still have about 4.9 million. If half of that money was used to lower taxes for 10 families that needed to buy fifty cars how is that not a help for the economy. Lower taxes on the middle class and create programs that help hard working middle income Americans and the economy will expand at an alarming rate. Keep making policies that benefit the now "entitled" rich in this country and they are the only ones that will thrive. Again 1 + 1 = 2 policy that benefits the rich = richer rich policy that benefits the middle class = stronger middle class and increased buying power. If Reaganomics worked than at the current tax rate we would be at the lowest unemployment in history not having this asinine debate about simple math!!
He says that he doesn't care if his taxes go up, he's still rich. He also says what anyone with a brain already knows; success come from more people buying your products, people can't buy your products unless they have MONEY!
So if people don't have money, and jobs to spend on the products products, how are they going to make more money. Have the repugs ever given that a thought?
I agree with Nick Hanaeur, the ultimate job creators are an educated middle class with extra disposable income. Supply side economics has been proven to be a totally false myth. According to the mythology of supply side economics, we should be swimming in jobs right now. Record corporate profits of $2 trillion in 2011 and continuing good profits mean we should be at full employment. We all know this theory to be totally false. The facts are that record tax cuts in 2001 and 2003 went to the upper classes disproportionally. The two wars started under Bush will cost $4 trillion long term. The Bush tax cuts are the major reason for our budget deficits and increased national debt today. Bush took a large budget surplus of about $150 billion in 2001 and turned it into a $1.4 trillion budget deficit in 2009. The deregulation of the big Wall Street investment banks under the repeal of the 1932 Glass-Steagall act turned our banking system into a giant casino for the big banks. In 2008 when the real estate boom went bust, bundled mortgage backed securities, along with other securities in the derivatives market collapsed.
These highly leverage mortgage backed securities resulted in the worst economic collapse since 1929. Also the middle class in both 1929 and in 2008 ran completely out of extra disposable income. Both 1929 and 2008 share in common the fact that the middle classes ran out of extra disposable income sources. The 1929 stock market crash turned into the Great Depression further exacerbated by the runs on the banks was ultimately a caused by the middle class having no more money or credit to access. Essentially the same thing happened in 2008 under different circumstances with the real estate bust. We can look at the wealth inequality statistics to verify these statement. In 2007 the richest one fifth of households owned 85% of the total net worth and 93% of the financial wealth in this country. This left the bottom eighty percent of households, those who work for hourly wages and salaries, with 15% of the total net worth and a mere 7% of the financial wealth.
These 2007 levels of wealth inequality are very comparable to the levels of wealth inequality back in 1929. The richest one percent of households owned 44.2% of the national wealth in 1929. In 2008 the richest one percent of households owned 34.6% of the national wealth. What is also important are that the trends of the data point towards continued wealth accumulation at the top one percent while the bottom eighty or even ninety percent of households have less of a share of the national wealth. Check out Professor G William Domhoff's "Who Rules America? Power in America, Wealth, Income, and Power in America", at the University of California at Santa Cruz, Department of Sociology.
I blog this same material over and over because we hear the same false rubbish over and over from the conservatives about "giving tax cuts to the job creators will create jobs blah, blah blah." The conservatives refuse to believe that increasing wealth inequality leads to deep recessions because when the middle class has no more money, income, or sources of credit the demand created by their extra disposable income on Main Street starts to dry up. When middle class people have good jobs, with benefits like health insurance, and extra disposable income, demand for goods and services in the Main Street economy start to pick up. 70% of the economy of the U.S. is related to commercial activity mostly created by the middle class with disposable income.
Paul Krugman is correct when he calls for more investment in the economy. Austerity will only create more unemployment and prolonged downturns. The reason that state and local governments face such awful budget problems are because state and local governments rely on sales taxes and income taxes to keep them going for the bulk of their budgets. When a recession hits hard, people lose jobs and stop buying goods and services on Main Street. The amount of income taxes and sales taxes drops precipitously. This is why so many states across our country have seen large property tax increases. In Minnesota property taxes increased over 40% from over 2000-2009. More than one-third of school districts in Minnesota had a levy increase on residential property this last local election in 2011. Minnesota has had its budget hurt by large tax cuts for the wealthy and the lingering effects of the 2008 recession.
We desperately need more infrastructure spending of at least $2.2 trillion to repair our roads, bridges, water and sewer lines, ports, electrical grids, aviation, railways and other infrastructure. We need to stop laying off our public sector workers, like teachers, police, and fire. We need to invest in an Apollo energy program that totally eliminates our need to import OPEC oil. Building TGV bullet trains in the northeast corridor and California, replacing our 104 nuclear plants with new fast neutron breeder reactors, and replacing all of our old pulverized coal power plants with state of the art IGCC power plants with CO2 capture systems, while investing in wind farms, solar, geothermal, and biomass fuels will grow America's economy. We hemorrhage more than $400 billion annually to buy oil from unstable OPEC countries. The total costs of importing oil are easily one trillion dollars once health, environmental, and military costs are all added up. We subsidize a gallon of fuel up to at least $11 per gallon. Some experts say it is really $15 per gallon that the federal government ultimately subsidizes a gallon of fuel. The bottom line is we will have no peace from war, terrorism, and killing until we get rid of imported OPEC oil and ultimately oil itself as an energy source. Infrastructure investment and an Apollo energy program are what our country needs to move forward and compete in the 21st century global economy with the BRIC countries.
Sorry Rex, but like every liberal-socialist,you are completely wrong about supply side economics. It works, and that is why the left has been lying about it for so many years.
Sorry Reaganomics 1, you are wrong. There are thirty years of exxperience to back all of the statements that Rex makes. Reagan tried a new trick; it didn't work and now we are in an economy that is a mess.
It is now time to try something new; tax the rich and give the middle class a chance at making the economy work. It seems that the rich won't or can't do it, now it's for the middle class to come to the rescue. The republican party is in a rut and they are so stubborn that they don't want to change. If you want the past the republican party is the way to go; if you want progress for all, the rich and the middle class, you'll have to chose the Democratic party. It's as simple as that.
BTW, I use to vote conservative but the recent political climate has changed my mind. I couldn't vote conservative if I had to with what has happened in the recent past.
Thank you Nick! FINALLY! Another Billionaire (like Buffet) telling the American people the truth!
First of all, as a Responsible Republican Voter, Middle Class American, the Bush tax cuts that will expire will raise the revenue over 2.8 Trillion dollars!! That's correct! The Millionaires and Billionaires will continue to make money!
Secondly, Bonehead Boehner lies to the American People as does Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell! Job Creators? Ha! No Way! They have horted their cash reserves of over 2 Trillion dollars alone!
If they are making money, they will refuse to hire! Why should they! That is their matra. They don't care about Middle Class Americans. But they want us to purchase their products!
Hell no to Bush Tax Cuts! Let them expire! Give us back the Revenue we need to start Infrastructure in this country to repair and rebuild our roads, bridges, and highways!!
MY Republican Party has amnesia when it comes to history. President Dwight D. Eisenhower was a Republican who gave us the US Highway System.
Pay for the new Infrastructure with the Bush Tax Cuts!!!!
Vote OUT every US House Republican and US Senate Republican in November! This is NOT MY Republican Party anymore! We need Moderate thinkers in the Capital, NOT this Radical GOP Group! Get the Tea Baggers OUT!!!!
Let's get rid of the Obstructionist in Congress for good!!!!
Obama/Biden 2012
Debra...Please inform us where you get your information that the repeal of the Bush tax rates will raise $2.8 trillion dollars. Over what period of time? Given that these rates have only removed about $1.4 trillion dollars from the treasury over a 10 YEAR PERIOD, I really want to see how you justify your statement.
Remember, the Bush tax rates were in affect for ALL Americans. Everyone who pays taxes benefited from lower rates.
These proposed plans are over a period of time. People who pay attention know this without repeating that that part. We all survived the Reagan tax hikes and Clinton tax rates.
Historically taxes are raised on the wealthy during war time....not lowered. It's their war anyway. I sent my Son over there, got him back damaged and unable to work the *very* fine job he left to go over there. At least I got him back. They have accumulated plenty of wealth to start chipping in at the Reagan tax hike rates for a time, IMO. The wealthy will be none the worse for that. That's if they are Patriotic millionaires and billionaires and don't run out on us like our kids didn't. <s>
If anyone will be fine if the bush tax cuts expire it will be the wealthy.
What happened to the left wanting to be "FAIR"? If everyone benefitted from the lower rates, then everyone should have to sacrifice to make up for them.
It is fair, the wealthy benefit the most for services government provides so it is fair that they pay more in taxes.
And they already do by paying nearly half of the tax revenues.
Well they get MORE than half of the income. In the last 50 years the top quintile has been the only segment of society to gain, most of us have seen decreases. That is why we are talking about this - republican policies have widened the wealth gap, decimating the middle class. Their trickle down policies have been a failure.
http://www.econlib.org/library/Enc/DistributionofIncome.html
Reminder...EVERY tax bracket saw a reduction...so EVERY tax bracket should go back to the old rates.
Then if there are believers that this is true. Which I think this guy is spot on! Than how can the republicans get any votes! Does america think the rich buy everything, without the middle class to buy most goods and services America is lost! Without an employed middle class, commerce does and will not happen. Tax code must be changed this will benefit the rich by padding their pocket with middle class cash. The capitalist loop needs costumers, in every business plan creating a product customer base is the first part of the plan. Every real businessman knows that. Look at McDonalds the sign say's Billions served. That is why Ray Crock made his money, on sales. Sales created that wealth and that also created jobs that generated the cash that the middle class spends. That is the capitalist system we all rely on!
It is rather simple Reagan, an insane doddering old fool that the religious nuts trusted from his years of selling over priced soap on TV ads played on the same greed these religious nuts were spoon fed daily by religious hacks like Falwell and Robertson. Reagan told these mental midgets that if the wealthy got tax cuts then the wealth would trickle down and lift them up into the 1% club then they would need those tax cuts too.
wisc 715, It seems to me that any middle class person who votes for a republican is actually voting against his own interests. No matter how you slice it the republicans have fooled this country for thirty years and now the middle class is waking up. I just hope that we have awaken soon enough to repair the damage that the republicans have done.
We can say to the rich people in this country "To those who have been given much, much is required." That includes taxes.
great analogy that is expressed so well, even a republican should understand. Nick is so right. Customers are the growth of any business. The higher the demand=higher job growth. The reason so many business have failed, really doesn't have too much to do with the economy. It's the way a business owner choose to run their business. We as business owners should always do research on the dos and don't. Success lies at the business owners feet. What a great Man, we need more sound minded people like Nick Hanauer, To stand on the truth. We have to work on being successful=more employees=a successful company. Thanks Nick I've been listening to your intellectual truths every since your appearance on Lawrence O'Donnell. Hey every-one Please listen to Nick-He's- GREAT-! --Please continue to show-case Him, we would love to see and here more about him.
By the Ed, please tell your listeners that Shell Oil Company has the contract on the Keystone Pipeline and they intend to outsource the Oil to the highest bidder and that means the OIL WILL NOT STAY IN THE UNITED STATES!! Not one drop of it will stay here in America!
No more building of the Keystone Pipeline!
Here's another fact for your listeners; Paul Clement of Bancroft PLLC, a Pfizer Inc. executive, Mitch McConnell, and Supreme Court Justices Scalia and Thomas had dinner in Los Angeles last year discussing the Healthcare Law at dinner. This smells of ethics violation and committed bribery of Scalia and Thomas on the part of MY Republican Party.
Scalia and Thomas should be barred from voting on legality of the law!!!!
Let's impeach Thomas and Scalia!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZe0lu1Qk_Y
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8m5PFuYRSI&feature=relmfu
Ed, the Justice Department needs to arrest Oliver Norquist! The "Pledge" that the Republicans sign for No New Taxes is BRIBERY!!!!
This is ethics violations! Our US representatives are suppose to legislate for the people, by the people, for all the people! Not just the few with money and power!
Maybe the Justice Department should tell the Representatives that if they sign that pledge, they are violating their civic duty to legislate for the people, by the people, for all people. They should be arrested for signing that pledge!
Actually, Republicans have been told, if they do not sign the Grover Norquist pledge and abide by it, Norquist and the TEA Party will run a TEA Party member against them, steal their base and force them out of office... So far, it seems to be working... That isn't Bribery, it's EXTORTION...
Prosecute Norquist and members of the TEA Party for Extortion and Treason...
David you said it all with just the first 5 words "tea bagging republicans are told", no need to say anything more really, they are told, they repeat over and over and over. Really has 1 tea bagging republican said anything new? If you really look at what they are saying it is the same nonsense Reagan spewed out of his potty hole 34 years ago. To much spending on the poor, only today it includes the elderly and disabled. Wealth trickles down. Tax cuts pay for themselves. Tax cuts create jobs. The EPA kills jobs. Nothing new and they refuse to admit that all of those Reagan economic stupid talking points lead to the economic mess we are in today. Even worse they refuse to see or admit that the GOP failed at making a strong economy, just like their own problem of seeing they will never be one of the top 1%, you can't fix stupidity when it is married to their belief system.
I will put Reagan's economy up against Obama's any time ! No contest!
I'll like to see if Fox would allow Nick on the show! That would be anarchy for the Republican Party to hear the "REAL" Truth!
Chris Wallace should have Nick as his guest!
Actually, Cavuto had him on. Nick took him to school!
Hanauer was on Cavuto's show back in Dec. 2011. This is the video and transcript from the "discussion" about the backwards view that the GOP puppets/puppet masters try to shove down the throats of the American People:
http://kathetacoma.newsvine.com/_news/2011/12/03/9183764-millionaire-nick-hanauer-shoots-down-neil-cavutos-straw-men-as-he-explains-why-his-taxes-should-be-raised-video-cafe
Couldn't find where Cavuto has asked him back yet. FOX Noise for that matter. Will continue to look and post it one of these days. <s>
Put Romney On Face The Nation or Meet The Press or The View, stay away from Fox Noise
I have a question where do the consumers get money from?
Finally, someone has the moral courage and dignity to tell the truth. Good for you Mr.Hanauer!
To those who refer (ad nauseum) to "the job creators": NEWS FLASH! As EVERY small business owner knows, the CONSUMER, NOT the employer is the JOB CREATOR! If you buy a newspaper, if you watch television...buy a cup of coffee...send a child to school...enroll in a college course...pay a toll on a highway...make a phone call...access a website - YOU are the JOB CREATOR. Business only innovates and thrives in response to DEMAND! Demand by whom? By YOU the CONSUMER! NOT to maintain some inventory of jobs!! Please people; STOP DRINKING THE FLAVORED POWDERED MIX THAT MAY REQUIRE THE ADDITION OF A SWEETENER IN ADDITION TO WATER! The individual CITIZENS who comprise the American Public are the job creators - ALL "CLASSES" INCLUDED! When business finds an unchecked opportunity to increase profits, even if scrupulous (as is the case with predatory lending), business does - and will continue to - exploit that opportunity. That is the nature of GREED. That is the nature of PROFIT. The goal of PRIVATE BUSINESS is not and never will be to CREATE jobs (unless it is a Bucky Fuller Production). Profitable business remains profitable when it cuts costs and increases profits. PERIOD. The GOVERNMENT is CHARTERED to do that which is UNPROFITABLE for the public sector, but satisfies a public need or a public good. ERGO, Mitt Romney cannot, by virtue of his business past, be considered a job creator. His approach to enterprise is to INCREASE "PROFIT" by DECREASING COSTS. This is why his experience translated so poorly to improving the economy of Massachusetts during his term as that state’s governor. It is anathema to "outsource" government jobs and functions to cut costs. Government jobs (teachers, firefighters, congressmen, senators, GOVERNORS) are an avenue for the JOB CREATORS (in this case, TAXPAYERS) to ensure that their neighbors keep jobs through which local economies are stimulated - and taxes are paid. Successful government finds new avenues of investment in its province (consider ALL of the measures used by states and municipalities to invite profitable business ventures to relocate or start businesses in their areas). Cost cutting is normally secondary to the securing of community investment. When government realizes a surplus in a particular budget line item, it either reduces the next year’s budget for that line item (to reduce the burden on TAXPAYERS), balances the surplus against a less-funded budget line item, or rebates the funding taxpayers – the TAXPAYERS are the “select group of investors.” Government does NOT exclusively provide an ROI to the businesses that relocated or started ventures in the area based on its surplus. We should ask Mitt how he intends to bring investment to America and stimulate growth in an environment where the investors are the public - not some small exclusive club with a narrow profit motive, and where the interests of this large body of stakeholders must be the PRIMARY consideration.
Where does the consumer get his money? He gets it from the employer thats where. Without the employer there would be no consumer.
Where does the average employer get his money? His mark up after his costs for labor and overhead.....employees who make him profit and consume (demand) products available. Who are the consumers? His employees.
You come on here and brag about your wealth as a businessman. How do you do it? I know how I made money for my employers and myself as an employer. You may have been fortunate to have a new idea that investors would gamble their wealth on.
The majority of businesses who historically have employed the majority of employees (aka the workers, aka the majority of consumers) have not used outside venture capital to become wealthy. Historically, when the company becomes top heavy with management the companies go under regardless of if they can reduce the workforce.
Then there's offshoring jobs and the large corporations collecting welfare....
Then there's there's the people and their minions that worship at the alter of greed who belly ache about the increased cost of taking care of those people tossed out of the capitalist loop....
The world goes round as a sphere when it's functioning for everyone.....not a disfunctional pyramid or flat plane. Notice the natural economic cycles are rounded when it works the way it should. When there are sharp angles in it there is/are failure(s) *every* time.
Sounds to me like the employer needs the consumer and the consumer needs the employer. Sounds like the employer has to create a job for there to be a consumer. Also sounds like the employer needs a consumer to create a job.
He made his fortune the old fashioned tea bagging republican way, he made it up in his own mind. Remember 9 out of 10 times when a tea bagging republican brags on the internet they made it up.
Hi whom!
And clueless. The owner can't think about employees because he wants every penny to himself. I can just see the owner on the packaging line, like Lucy Retardo, stuffing his face with chocolates...the rest on the floor. That's after he's picked up and unloaded the ingredients, made the candy...oh but wait...no product to box and deliver. Can't make any money if the company owner consumes and loses the product *by himself*. He'll be fat and dumb....not happy. <s>
The big 3 did that in the 80s Kathe, they had cars that dealers couldn't sell, they had a work force they were laying off while out sourcing the jobs those company's did themselves and up until 94 ran the auto industry in the red yet the CEO's were given record bonuses. The US tax payer was picking up the tab while CEO's wrote off every loss. It was the glory years of the Corporate welfare check. GOP policies hard at work CEO's got richer the workers got nothing.
LOL the view? Yeah, there's a credible source.
The view is more fair and balanced then Fox news is and the view actually has discussions based on facts all Fox has is fake outrage so people like you foam at the mouth.
I'll take your word for it. Welfare bums are experts on daytime television.
Then there is reality, the only lazy bums I ever saw on welfare were republicans and all they did was whine about others doing the same exact thing they were doing only the republicans believed they were entitled to more but those others wouldn't let the government give them more.
Translation: Stand by for some total (repeated) nonsense in a gigantic run on sentence that is completely unintelligible.
Alrighty then.
Ed gets one billionaire nut to appear on his show and agree with Ed and we are all supposed to believe that is the truth.
You know people who follow Ed. Are you this stupid? You know Ed must think you are just a bunch of dummies who believes anything he says.
How do you people like to be bunched up in that group? You think you are something but you are nothing to Rush Limbaugh wanna be Ed Shultz. Leftie losers.....those who believe Ed Schultz and his spinning reports. What a laugh.
Johnny, you are the one that is "bottled" in group. How long will a diner be in business if nobody goes out for dinner? How many auto dealers will be in business if nobody buys his cars? Just those 2 will have a ripple effect on how many other businesses? How many times must "supply" side economics fail for you to get the message. If there is not demand, why make something?
And as far as calling us stupid, we, unlike the righties, get information and the we do the unheard of and, check it out, and we even think for ourselves. We don't need anybody to tell us what to do or how to think. And right now, it is you that is the loser simply because you have to resort to calling names.
If there is no employers then there is no consumer.
Well, Larry, I never called anyone any names. I just asked the Ed "followers" who believes everything he says if they are? If the shoe fits buddy....
I do think those who listen to Ed Schultz and shut everything else out are of the loser variety but that is up to them.
Ed Schultz is sickening the way he lies and spins and just plays certain clips that go to his belief. You know he does. For example, he blasts Walker for going outside of Wisconsin for support yet he praises Debbie whats her name Schlitz for helping. He is two-faced and pathetic. And when Walker wins, he had better say the people of Wisconsin have spoken. But you know what he is going to do...he is going to try to taint the election process. You watch. Pathetic.
We think for ourselves too. This country is in trouble. For almost 4 years, this man has been the worst president ever and you know it. Everything negative...he blames Bush...everything positive...its me, me, me. Sickening.
Face it Larry, he has been a rotten president. Its as simple as that. The debt, jobs, the economy....it has all worsened since he took office. We cannot keep on this road. Don't blame us...he had it all the first two years.
Its over Larry. I just cannot wait to see what you and your man Ed say when Walker wins and Obama loses. What a day that will be.
Well Johnnyboy, you are welcome to leave! And us, dummies, are gonna hang-out with ED!!!!
Wow, ED must really be getting under some righty skin, and I know he has every intention to do so.......Now don't go away mad,... just do away!

Hi larry & Dem!
I think we have at least one of the hit and run trolls on this comment page. The Millionare Patriots (plural) web site has lots of videos and some petitions. Some keep their annonymity (for reasons we know), but give their support. Lots of videos and petitions for even the "regular" folks.
http://millionairepatriots.org/
Hi Kathe,
The link was confusing.....was it for the Bush tax cuts expiring? Or are the 'patriotic-millionairs' being sarcastic? ?
Have a wonderful week, calling it a night.
Crumb....put the words backwards.
http://patrioticmillionaires.org/
Johnny - Pres. Obama has added jobs for 26 months in a row now and the unemployment rate continues to go down; that's in spite of the GOP's plan to obstruct everything he tries to do. Am I happy we're still in Afghanistan? Hell no but I'm not throwing him out of office for that. He's stood up for civil rights for women, minorities and gays while the other side has done everything they can to roll back the rights of anyone not white, male and heterosexual. Oh, and Christian.
And as for believing everything Ed says - no I don't. I look to multiple sources for my information. I do not however venture over to Fox News. I don't subscribed to their ideology and have no use for their lies. I am forever amazed though at how many of you come over here and "try" to change our minds. Once a mind has been opened, it can't close again so save your efforts. We've evolved and you can't put the genie back in the bottle.
Easy Johnny, most on this blog are probably young, impressionable youngsters
who do not know that liberal policies crashed the banking system in 2008; Who
don't know that Europe is teetering because of liberal policies that Obama
seeks, and desires. They just don't know any better. They do not know that
liberal policies cause a state of malaise and hopelessness among the poor. They
need to live longer in order to one day see the light !
Some here may even be from OWS, and have an aversion to work or soap. Give them time to mature and understand.
Hate to burst your bubble, Reagan, but I'm no youngster. I've lived long enough to see our country brought to the brink of disaster repeatedly by the Republican party. Our liberal policies did not cause the banking crash - it was Bush's deregulation. European countries take care of their citizens and have happier residents that we'll ever see here. Are they in need of some fiscal changes? Of course but that doesn't have anything to do with liberal ideology.
My only question to you is: Do you have an aversion to truth, facts and reality?
Johnny is one of those people republican's count on to follow their P.T.Barnum philosophy that ther'es a "Sucker Born Every Minute". Intelligence does not seem to be one of his greatest qualities But do'nt despair Johnny,Foxsnooze love's people with low intelligence.
joca
Because of Republicans people like Johnny have more of their hard earned money in their pocket. You can have your (lol) "intelligence", I'll take the long green any day.
It would seem that Eugeni......is ill-informed. The republicans are responsible for wages and income dropping and stagnating for the middle class. Any and ALL tax breaks have gone to higher costs for fuel, food and utilities.
Because of republicans we have experienced the greatest recession since the depression and because of republicans we are not able to get out of it faster because the shut-down of republicans in the house and SENATE filibusters!
Because of republicans America has had her credit rating dropped and citizens are more terrorized by threats of the Ryan plan being enacted than by Bin Laden.
Because of republicans - America is worse off .
Obama/Biden 2012
DElizabeth see post #14.5, wealthy people do not brag on the internet. Jerry needs the how do you keep a tea bagging republican moron in suspense treatment.
Whom, That's all jerry has to talk about. Money is the only thing that matters to him. He doesn't care about the environment, doesn't like women, hates Liberals but knows nothing about them. IF he had the money he brags about, he wouldn't be on any blog. He's on SS and Medicare.
Making a little spare change, jerry? Spare us the 2 cents. Pat somewhere else. <quack!>
larry
I admire you and whom. Neither of you are concerned about money. I'll be charitable tonight and not go into your reasons why.
DemE
The recession was caused by millions of liberal democrat minorities that borrowed billions of mortgage dollars and then not paying it back.
The good ole Georgia boy's Community Reinvestment Act screwed everyone. But what the hell. Ya'll got your "social justice".
eugen lol
Poor jerry still stuck in 2008 when the GOP tried doing damage control by blaming Freddie, Frannie and Frank for the bank failures insisting that banks were forced at gun point to give poor people loans on houses they couldn't afford, never mind the fact that the affordable home loan act was passed by the rubber stamp GWB GOP congress in 2005 and that Frank was in the party who couldn't pass bills or make bills until 2006 or that Frank was being sarcastic when he said deregulate them all, just more fake outrage by the Fox news viewers who never let fact get in the way of fake outrage. Oh then in 2010 it was discovered that Freddie and Frannie were not at fault it was the banks who were selling loans knowing full well the loans were bad and the fact that the wealthiest banks were making side bets on the bad loan bundles failing. But hey our misinformed righties never pass up a opportunity to bash the poor over what the wealthy done.
The GOP blamed your hick preznit down in Georgia, along with Clinton, Frank and Dodd.
Anyone that forces banks to lend to the poor should be impeached. Only a complete idiot would do that.....and they did.
Here we go again good old jerry ranting and raving like a lunatic. I'm so sorry that the banks didn't give you a loan jerry but then again jerry that Koch industry check you get is not considered employment so of course no bank will loan you a dime. It isn't poor peoples fault that happened, try getting a real job and maybe then you will get your loan.
Jerry. You know nothing about me or my finances and even less about whom. I really don't give a rip what you sarcastic comments are. Climb back under your rock.
Larry its an old republican tactic run off at the mouth about someones personal life, then when the person defends themselves and gives out some personal information they can use they then claim see he is discredited because he is poorer them my internet brag of wealth. None of the tea bagging republicans posting are any better off then the rest of us, its just their delusions at play, why they think a persons wealth has anything to do with a persons credibility is beyond me because as we can see when a wealthy vulture capitalist tells them reality they try to discredit that person even though that person has what they admire wealth.
whom
Just remember there are millions of millionaires in the US. There are tens of millions that are working toward that end. And then we have "the liberals"...poor me....I'll never make it.....the deck is stacked against me....it's a fixed horse race.....send me a check every month and I'll be happy!!!!!!!!!!!!
btw Yes whom We are better off than you for good reason....we deserve to be better off than you.
You are not better off jerry you just have a mental disorder that keeps you living in a land of delusions created by a guy who was out of his freaking mind. That you are posting on a left leaning blog to collect 5 cents a word from the Koch bothers just shows how broke you are. That you are waiting for a golden handout just shows how badly you are projecting your own beliefs on others, just more proof of a mental disorder. That you think people born on third base don't have an advantage over you, just proof again your delusions. As far as education you are far behind the dumbest kid in Japan, as clearly your posts show. How do we know this, because you refuse to learn and you think you are something you are not. All you do jerry is repeat Reagans insane rantings, No more no less I doubt if you could come to one ideal that wasn't provided by Fox news.
Eugenie...I need to ask for a raise...I am only getting 3 cents a word. When did they up your pay?
Ah this is "One" dude, and he inherited the family business.
He was one of the 1st investors in Amazon, guess they do not employ anyone.
This dope is just cashing and getting his 15 min's of fame.
He's a lot better off than you stupida. I'd wouldn't him a dope. Maybe you should look in the mirror for your dope, or medicine cabnet.
Larry it is just protecting its lord and master, the tin god Reagan, after all this rich guy is calling Reagan a liar and it knows that.
Look, there is no admiration for a dude who comes out and tells everyone capitalism does not work.
Especially this dope, who got rich from that very system in the 1st place.
Taxing the people that put other people to work never has worked, just look to the 1930's to fine the answer, it didn't work then it will not work now!!!
You might want to look at a history book on economics. The "job creaters" have 10 yrs of tax cuts. Where's all those jobs? Nothing but worn out right wing talking point lies.
Actually Larry its 20 years of the Reagan economic nonsense of tax cuts and the only time jobs were created was when demand went up under Clinton's policies and tax increases on the wealthy. Like I said they think Reagan was an economic genius when reality was Reagan believed he was playing Hoover in a movie about the life of Hoover in the white house. To bad for the uneducated unteachable right that their own stupidity i the cause of their miserable lives, they keep looking out instead of looking in.
Whom
You can hope and pray for taxes increases but there won't be any. America knows that will only benefit the laziest amongst us and nobody gives a damn about them....now do they??
btw Most Reagan followers got rich during the 80s and 90s and don't live "miserable lives". I think being one of those "social justice" weirdos qualifies you as "miserable".
2002 unemployment rate avg 5.7% by 2007 the avg was 4.5%.
2008 avg 5.7%.
2009 avg 9.5%.
2010 avg 9.7%
2011 avg 9.1%
So as you can see the jobs were there untill obama took office.
What is there about being a rightie that doesn't allow you to use any common sense? When did the stock market crash causing the depression? When was the unemployment the highest? It sure wasn't the same year. And how long did it take to get the economy and jobs back? Did the WH and congress work together to do it? You fail to address any of this while posting your tired over used talking points. What your right wing congress accomplished? How many jobs bills have they passed? What has the majority of their legislation been for? You only want to look at a very small picture. As I said earlier, where are all the jobs the "job creaters" created?
I do have to give you credit for one thing. You have the talking points down patt.
The stock market crash didn't cause the depression.........JEEEEEEEEEEEEZ!!!!!
We need about thirty years of demand-side economics to offset the damage done by thirty some years of supply-side, trickle-down.
Oh DemElizabeth....we are not going anywhere. As long as we can, since speech is free, we want to keep on telling the truth on this blog. Ed lies and spins and you just go along with it.
By the way, did you hear the latest about the mayor of Neward, Corey Booker. He was caught telling the truth on Meet the Press yesterday. After the show, the Obama thugs contacted him and he retracted everything he said:
Newark Mayor Cory Booker is walking back his remark that campaign tactics from President Obama's team are "nauseating."
That was the headline in USA Today. At first he said on the TV show that Obama's tactics literally make him sick. Then he retracted.
You see DemElizabeth....in a moment of truthfulness, he spoke his mind. You need to also.
We are not going to leave....not until Nov. 6 when Obama is voted out of office.
You made the remark because of Republicans, this country is in the shape its in...which you agree is terribly bad.
Hey Elizabeth.....WHO HAS BEEN IN CHARGE THE PAST 3.6 YEARS????????
WHO HAD COMPLETE DEM CONTROL THE FIRST 2 YEARS OF THAT????????
And you want to blame it on us?????
Get a life!...........The only think you want to give your beloved haloed president credit for is for killing Bin Laden. Other than that, he is not responsible for anything....that is the way you think? You have got to be kidding me.
You say the Republicans are responsible for everything. What a dumb statement. I will bet you anything....if things started to get better....are you going to blame that on the Republicans too?..........or will that be Obama's fault.
Liz, you are so transparent. Two-faced. Just like Ed. You must be proud.
So, Johnny. When can we expect to start hearing the truth. The Republicans don't believe in the truth. You haven't posted the truth. Whenwill you start?
There goes Larry with all that truth crud again. Mr. Oregonian Righteousness cares about the truth as much as I do.
Elizabeth...you posted these character traits:
self-importance,
beauty, or ideal love,
him or her,
I see johnny is once again confusing free speech with no understanding of what free speech is. Typical tea bagger delusion, claiming rights they do not have. Oh and johnny we can silence you any time we want.
So big brain why don't you just explain "Free Speech" to us all, as it is written in the Constitution....
Stupida is still living up to her name with every key stroke.
Johnny, I've yet to see any place that allows us to "vote" anybody off. Please point this out so I can star using it.
We can collapse his posts and we can ignore him Larry, he believes free speech gives him the right to be heard even if no one wants to hear his rewrites of Reagan talking points and Fox news fake outrages. Another thing he doesn't get is only government is not allowed to deny freedom of speech he hasn't figured out that MSNBC isn't government run so his speech is not protected.
Oh I see now, it's only "Free Speech" when you agree with what is being said.
And if you do not agree then out the window with your "Free Speech"....
Thanks for explaining the 1st amendment, next time read it 1st it may just help.
Wrong again typical tea bagging republican uneducated understanding of rights. Show me where in the constitution where it says that we have to read your posts. Hey how do you keep a tea bagging republican moron in suspense?
Boring and lame.
Yep chi I agree 34 years of repeating that insane dodder old fool Reagan's demented version of economics is rather lame and boring. When are you tea bagging republicans going to stop repeating that boring lame garbage.
This means so much coming from the king of repeats. How many times have you dropped your lame "moron in suspense" joke this week? Twelve?
And let's not forget
also one of your greatest hits.
Aww do you want a party while you sit on the pity pot? I mean really whining like a 3 year old isn't adult behavior. Funny how you righties whine and cry when anyone refutes your talking points with the history of Reagannomics. when are you righties going to step up and admit the GOP has produced nothing but failures.
Yea whomitmay....define it for us. Everytime someone says something that hits home...you vote them off? If that how it works? Wow, you must be proud of your stance.
By the way, whats this I hear about Hillary in and Biden out? Any truth to that? After all big Joe has done? What a slap in the face. Oh....but I do remember when Joe Biden once said that Obama did not have the experience to be president....he did not have what it takes......Turns out ole Joe was right!
That person does not even live in this country...
Elizabeth...where are you? Do you know anything about this rumor about Hillary?
That rumor is false. It will be imbecile Biden running with Obama.
Johnny. Can't you do your own research? You always want others to do it for you.
There are many Millionaires and Billionaires...most enjoying many tax cuts; and Busy hiding huge sums in off shore accounts to avoid paying their fair share. I would like to see a chart showing the Number of jobs created, compared to the amount of cash offshore? It would be interesting, but I fear quite predictable....
Nick Hanauer knows more than Mr. Romney about what drives the economy and the need for tax reform that helps the economic mobility of the middle class. Please consider the 2-4-8 Tax Blend - a comprehensive tax reform for both individuals and business that can be defined in one sentence: Tax individual and corporate income at a flat 8% rate (with no deductions, credits or loopholes), tax individual net wealth at 2% (excluding $15,000 cash and retirement funds) and impose a 4% Value Added Sales Tax (VAT) on business. For business the combined 8% income rates and 4% VAT would be the lowest and most competitive business taxes of all the developed countries. [The U.S. is the only developed country without a VAT]. The 8% income tax rate also resolves the significant problem in the deferral of taxes on foreign profits caused by imposing a 35% tax (less credit for foreign taxes paid) when the money is brought back into the U.S. For investors, the net wealth tax might seem revolutionary by U.S. standards, but most high earners would willingly pay a 2% net wealth tax in exchange for eliminating the capital gains and estate taxes and keeping 92% of taxable earnings. The ability to buy and sell assets without being taxed on the gains would spur a new era of investment freedom. The increased after tax income would also create wealth much faster than a 2% net wealth tax could diminish it. For workers, the elimination of the payroll tax and reduction of the income tax rate creates an immediate boost in take home pay. For example, a young family earning $70,000 currently pays combined federal taxes of 19% but would take home $7,700 more with an 8% income tax (assuming net wealth of under $30,000). This additional $641 per month represents an enormous opportunity for both savings and consumption. The $15,000 per person cash wealth tax exemption also encourages a responsible level of liquidity. The retention of tax exempt retirement savings programs recognizes the need for the elderly to have sufficient assets to supplement social security. Current interest tax deductions for mortgages and student loans are replaced by the ability to deduct the loan principal in computing net wealth. This is the equivalent of a 2% reduction in the interest rate and is arguably a better incentive for both home ownership and higher education. Eugene Patrick Devany, JD, MPAwww.TaxNetWealth.com
1) as soon as flat taxes were in place the GOP would be sticking loop holes into them because lobbyists would be talking for the wealthy. 2) Flat taxes are stupid, it was a conservative ideal and it don't take into account people who live below the poverty line . 3) I am tired of flat taxers thinking they have a new great ideal that will work yet it won't.
