In this May 6, 2009 file photo, Bristol Palin, daughter of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, arrives at an event to promote National Teen Pregnancy Awareness Day in New York.
Bristol Palin, daughter of 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin, took issue with the President Barack Obama’s stance on gay marriage in a blog post Wednesday.
She thinks it’s laughable that Obama consulted Sasha and Malia in his decision to back same sex marriage. She said there's a time when dads need to be dads and lead their families.
She writes:

While it’s great to listen to your kids’ ideas, there’s also a time when dads simply need to be dads. In this case, it would’ve been helpful for him to explain to Malia and Sasha that while her friends parents are no doubt lovely people, that’s not a reason to change thousands of years of thinking about marriage. Or that – as great as her friends may be – we know that in general kids do better growing up in a mother/father home. Ideally, fathers help shape their kids’ worldview.
In this situation, it was the other way around. I guess we can be glad that Malia and Sasha aren’t younger, or perhaps today’s press conference might have been about appointing Dora the Explorer as Attorney General because of her success in stopping Swiper the Fox.
Sometimes dads should lead their family in the right ways of thinking. In this case, it would’ve been nice if the president would’ve been an actual leader and helped shape their thoughts instead of merely reflecting what many teenagers think after one too many episodes of Glee.
Bristol Palin's teenage, out-of-wedlock pregnancy came into the national spotlight when her mother was running for vice president.
Bristol has a tumultuous relationship with the child's father and former fiance, Levi Johnson.

First of all he didn't say he "consulted" with his daughters when deciding how he views the discrimination of homosexuals in regards to marriage. All of this wonderful advice coming from a young woman who is a teenage unwed mother. This coming from a young woman whose father was noticeably silent during his wife's many runs for elected office. This coming from a family were the mother is in charge of shaping her worldview. This coming from a young woman who is raising her child in a single family without much input from the father. No need to change thousands of years of religious oppression in regards to marriage, birth control, women's rights, etc. No need to change? I guess all those white folks with black slaves felt like that. Civil War anyone? Emancipation Proclamation anyone? Women without any rights, even the right to vote. Women's Suffrage anyone? Blacks having no rights. Equal Rights Amendment anyone? Divorced women seen as pariahs. Unwed mothers sent away to unwed mother's home and forced to give up their child. And now today. Women not paid equally doing the same job as a man? Taking away a women's right to choose what does and doesn't have with her own body? Treating homosexual couples as 2nd class citizens. Yeah Bristol, just think where we would be now as a society if we just kept accepting things as they are. Be careful young one. You just might get what you want.

Just a suggestion -
Will all of you who have made more than 5 posts on MSNBC in the past year please move to the Maddow Blog.
Now for you remaining newbies, what would you like to talk about?
Are you a bata? Give me a hint....?
Thankful,
Amazingly it almost worked. Might be something to this - sort of an inverted flash mob. Real posters all pick up and move to another blog carrying on their conversation leaving the "You think you can troll" contestants to talk to themselves.
Adam_Selene
Same here TM same arrogant nonsense. Notice the only real newbies that have shown up in the last year have been 99% re regs.
But whomitmay - when their contracts expire - note Scottie and Melinda - and they have to change personas, they are so disorganized for the first few days. Why - I did the old "will all of the sock puppets raise their hand" joke and the guy over there - yeah - that one - raised his hand. It's like every reincarnation takes a toll on them (troll toll?). Oh - may I keep Duckie as a pet - I'll feed him - sometimes - and clean up after him - sometimes - please - puuuuleeeeeeze!
Say, how does SL Cabbie keep finding no troll zones?
Adam_Selene
why would anyone in their right mind move to a stuttering idiots blog?
The simple fact is that the Obama's have done a far, far better job of raising their daughters than $arah has.
I think that it's a safe bet that Barack and Michelle's daughters won't become single mothers and publicity whore wannabe's.
Who would take parental or morality advise from someone who is an unwed single parent who got pregnant as a teen and who carried out a charade of pretending she would get married? I knew the marriage thing was a lie. If her a Levi were going to get married, they would have been married before Sarah was even selected for VP. I know if McCain/Palin lost, no wedding would take place and I was right.
Why are the Palins always posting something or giving their opinions about things they know very little about? These people are media hounds (replace hounds with the word that starts with a W and ends with an S and has HORE in the middle).
I can sort of understand why Sarah is in the media a lot but why is Bristol? What does she do? Sit around the house all day (she has no job?) and waits for Obama to saying she doesn't like? Obama is a law professor and she is what? How many years of college does she have? How many degrees does she possess? So her witless opinion means what?
Bristol i feel sorry for you the president did not say he ask his daughter's what to do he said that his daughters had friends who have parent that are gay, he want them to treat every one the same, you knew not make a difference between other people because they are not the same as we are.
Bristol is a slut and a prostitute and so is her mom.
If you believe he is for gays you are sadly mistaken. It is nothing but a political ploy because he cannot run on his own merits. It's sad to see such venom wasted on the comments she makes, instead we need to worry about our economy!!! Come on people get a life!
Jan...despite what some have been led to believe..the economy is getting better,,,the unemployment rate would be lower except red sates keep laying off public sector workers who we really do need and this is a fact some find hard to believe...the jobs we used to have are gone and won't come back, new jobs are out there and folks need to evolve to take those jobs and even take some that pay less than they used to make...it sucks but that is the way it is.....no jobs where you live...move........I can't tell you how many times I had to do that over thee years to find work....survival demands we evolve and cope.....quit making excuses and blaming a president who did not cause the collapse...blame instead leaders who cut jobs and tell lies such as tax breaks create jobs.....they don't
Parch...tell the 310,000 people who dropped off the unemployment rolls last month because they gave up on trying to find a job how much better the economy is getting. I am sure they will be able to confirm al you say.
Poor storm then attempts to distract from the Palins to his favorite tea bagging fake out rage about nothing. Guess what storm, the president does not go to congress and say give me the money to get people working and congress says ok your Majesty you got it, oh wait that is right GWB was doing that with his GOP rubber stamp congress until the democrats took both houses from the rubber stampers.
and according to Larry and another member on this board, that is when the economy began to tank...and continued to do so for the next four years under Democratic control
At the time the Republicans released control of the HOR to the Democrats in 2006, the unemployment rate was 4.4%. When the Republicans got control back in 2010, the rate was 9.4%. Now the rate is 8.1%. Seems as if the economy responds better to Republican control of the HOR.
Have you completed your homework yet?
Jan Canavan, I do have a life. What I want to know is that if you are not interested in what Bristol had to say, and the responses to those comments....Why did you deliberately click on the story and then comment on a story that you feel has no merit to the real issues facing this country? I think that all those people who are being discriminated against, living as 2nd class citizens in this country where "all men are created equal" may think it is a worthy topic of conversation. So, please do us all a favor and not click on a story that you have no interest in and then make inflammatory comments and disrespect those of us who do think it is a worthy conversation by telling us to "get a life".
Spin storm spin, what has that to do with the topic other then to distract from the Palins stupidity. And even then you have it all wrong as to what caused unemployment, here is a clue, when consumers stop consuming unemployment goes up. When the banks stopped lending, as supply side economics that the GOP love so much depends on consumers being able to credit buy, the whole economy crashes. Funny how the GOP gets no credit for the things they cause yet the good things that happen for the things they voted against happens they are right their taking credit. Why just yesterday Mittens was saying it was his ideal that Obama used to bailout the big 3 when in fact Mittens wanted the Big 3 to fall into bankruptcy.
You mean the control that led to the collapse through de-regulation. Do not continue to ignore the fact that this downturn in the financial sector got us into this mess
have we fixed that? no.
Storm your post is illogical. So you content that the house is best under republicans on unemployment. You also claim that the unemployment isn't improving. They have control now so by your logic that means the economy is improving, something you deny.
Bristol did u listen when ur parents said don't b a teenage mom?
how would this twit know so much about glee if she herself wasn't watching it as well?
Like her mother she just can't say no to being in the spotlight but she will soon see that like a moth, if you come to close, you gonna get zapped..........Bazinga!
Why give her air time.....let her bleat on ......who cares.
Unfortunately Bristol just does not get it. All she has learned from her mother is to be an ignorant intolerant spoiled greedy brat who obviously was never educated about the outcomes of unprotected sex. Her mother was has been too busy making a life for herself and neglecting the responsibility it takes to raise a decent human being. Hmmmmm, makes me wonder what kind of parent(s) Sarah has or had. They obviously were failures.
hey missey, don't worry about our President's daughters, just keep your legs crossed.
and go kill a moose.
Barry consulted 2 kids before he made a decision on gay marriage? Is that for real or is Ed making up stuff again?
One good thing...if it blows up in his face he can blame the kids.
Bristol, don't listen to these twits. Just be glad you won't have to go through life as a mongrel.
Really except that is not what Obama said that is what the Palin child claimed.
Wow another "hypocrite " Now you little bitch..That is why u became pregnant and a single mom at 18..aw poor baby..what crock..People should not throw stone if they live in glass houses...Like daughter like Mom..
Bristol can afford to have kids, your average liberal ghetto skank can't.
Liz
That's not a nice thing to say. Aren't you a member of The National Organization of (some but not all) Women?
This young woman deserves no attention at all. I wonder if she ever asked mom and dad why some people hate each other so much? Probably not. Most of us are complete Idiots at young Palin's age; This one is surrounded by them. I do know that things need to change with this particular piece of History and they will.
Thank you, Bristol for weighing in on this topic. Perhaps you can enlighten the Prez on tax reform or Iran's nuclear program while you're at it. I'm sure he's hanging on your every word.
Bristol Palin is a homophobic bitch. I h8 her!! First, she was a teenage slut w/ a kid, then she finds Obama's support of same-sex marriage a joke. F*** YOU, BRISTOL!!!! Either get used to same-sex marriage, or just go f*** yourself!!!
Oh wow -- most of the original blog text has changed. Here's how it reads now :
"Let’s pause for just one second. When Christian women run for high office, people inevitably bring up the question of submission. Once, Michele Bachmann, for example, was asked during a debate, “As president, would you be submissive to your husband?”
People automatically assume that a Christian female President isn’t capable of making decisions without her spouse’s stamp of approval. (I should add female Republicancandidates –liberal women don’t get the same kind of questions.)
So are all those reporters who feared excessive family intervention in the White House all up in arms over the President’s announcement yesterday? Um. Not quite.
Liberals everywhere are applauding him for his bravery and his wisdom.
So let me get this straight – it’s a problem if my mom listened too much to my dad, but it’s a heroic act if the President made a massive change in a policy position that could affect the entire nation after consulting with his teenage daughters?
In this case, it would’ve been nice if the President would’ve been an actual leader and helped shape their thoughts instead of merely reflecting what many teenagers think after one too many episodes of Glee."
I'm now wondering, like some others above, if Bristol is writing this.... or Sarah. It seems to be leaning towards issues that young Bristol wouldn't care much about, but Sarah would find upsetting.
Actually, I would expect a young woman to find it appealing that a father might listen at all to his daughters. I doubt either of her parents listen to her.
Actually, maybe it didn't change. Just not all of it was put into the article. I'm still thinking it sound like concerns Sarah would have. Bristol might have made different choices if her parents had respected her more when she was younger. For now, Bristol, time to grow up and stop being used by your crazy mom.
Seriously, Bristol wrote this hit piece? I doubt it! She does not come across as a person who even thinks clearly on this or any other issue. I smell her mom's influence in this article and would not be surprised if double barrel Palin wrote it for Bristol. "Kids do better in a mother/father home." So, how does she explain that her child was born out of wedlock and that her father's son isn't even around the child as he grows up? She needs to look at her own life and correct her mistakes before she starts giving advice to others. She's a light weight interjecting herself into a political argument that is way over her head and for which she lacks the intellectual capacity to understand.
Her book ghostwriter is writing Bristol's blog, Nancy French..here's her own blog on the same Christian web site as Bristol's blog
The French Revolution — The French Guide to American Faith ...
Why is anyone interested in the babbeling of idiots such as Bristol or, her lame brained Parents..
Grow up Bristol!!!
Meet the REAL Bristol Palin - She wrote on Myspace...go to Politicalgates and read about the real Bristol.
To see how Bristol really talks and writes check this out:
Go to Politicalgates.
First off Bristol Palin can say whatever the hell she wants-she's entitled to an opinion just like all of you. Second, you all act like she's the only un-wed-teen parent. And for all of you to say how stupid/ignorant BRISTOL is-maybe you all should go back and read your IGNORANT comments.
she's the only unemployed, unwed teenage mom who is trying to preach "family values" to the nation
I find it entertaining that Bristol like her mother thinks she can attack the president and run and cry when someone attacks back. If she does not wish to be attacked she would stay away from attack stories
many find it crazy that a girl associated with the dominionist "family values" right has the nerve to impune the president and his daughters, if she'd listen she'd glee was never mentioned
you may be willing to take marriage advice from an unwed teen most but most others simply won't
Bristol, I think I hear your Kid Crying. Why don't you go and take care of that.. and please go faaaarrr Away .
