Right this minute a global fleet of Arctic destroyers is speeding towards one of the last unspoiled places on earth.
The ships are part of oil giant Shell’s mission to drill the very first wells in the pristine waters off the coast of Alaska. It’s insane, but melting sea ice from global warming has made it a reality. If Shell finds oil, the Arctic oil rush will be on.
Lets hope it happens!!! although, this Administraiton would never allow drilling in a cold, barren location...Heaven forbid we help ourselves...

But regaurdless of how many say it or post links to prove it, you just keep blaming Obama. You also beleive that the oil, if found, will some how be the US oil. Get some real information. Larry Reagan raised taxes 12 times in 8 years all on the backs of the middle class and low wage workers in order to keep the tax cuts on wealthy going.
it was 12 times in 7 of 8 years of his presidency...and it was never INCOME tax increases. it was other taxes. thats the difference here. Obama wants to raise income tax rates, capital gains tax rates...what Reagan did was broaden the tax base and closed loopholes...

European Austerity doesn't work, you are 100% correct...here is the biggest difference between them and us...in Europe, they cut spending and raised taxes...the TP here is proposing a cut in spending AND a cut in taxes...thats they only way to get spending under control...you can't cut spending and raise taxes like they tried in Europe...
there are 4 options- the Obama option- raise spending, raise taxes...this will lead to massive debt as spending continues to go up, and more financial problems for everyone with increased taxes (unemp. will stay high).
the Bush option- raise spending and cut taxes- still a problem...even though federal revenues are high, they can't keep pace with the spending. another terrible option.
The Europe option- cut spending, raise taxes...another terrible option as we are seeing in Europe. REALLY hurts the people.
The Restore America option- cut spending, cut taxes...it keeps spending in check, it broadens the tax base, more people pay in, more revenues are generated through tightened tax loopholes.
Reagan did not raise tax's ..... one more liberal lie.

Stupid still hasn't answered my question. What were the tax rates then compared to now? And yes ronnie did raise income taxes. And I have the tax returns to prove it. I had that discussion with a rightie at the time. He finally had to agree. But that's one differance from then to now. Then it wasn't a cuss word to agree with a liberal.
During Reagan's presidency, federal inc ome tax rates were lowered significantly with the signing of the bipartisan Economic Recovery Tax Act of 1981which lowered the top marginal tax bracket from 70% to 50% and the lowest bracket from 14% to 11%.

To day is tale about a trip to Dallas Sams Club. How it relates to the Presidential race. In my past life I was a police sergeant worked the areas of major case crimes, arson, robbery, DEA and traffic enforcement. On the way to Sams Club the rules of the road, I knew and so did everyone else, I felt safe and that most every one had respect for every one else!
Once entering the private property of the massive parking lot of SAMs Club, my world and everyone elses changed. The pedestrians walked in front of fast moving cars, children darted out from between cars not attached to their parents. The drivers that were backing out of parking did so with out regard for walking adults or children (many almost accidents). I noticed that the bigger SUV, less driving courtesy was extended. Any traffic rules that applied in the street, didn’t apply in the parking lot. they didn’t exist! Just within a only a few feet, two different worlds. One of complete ignorance of the rules and largest SUV and weapon GUN Rack survived. IN the parking lot the truth and rules failed and the perception those rules were for the other person. The pedestrians and smaller vehicles moved about with intimidation.
After returning to my sedan, I surrendered the right away to any pedestrian or moving vehicle in the parking lot and prayed that I would make it back to the street where some form of courtesy and traffic law prevailed.
This boils down to two worlds or universes, one world like the (PARKING LOT) with no rules and the one having the biggest SUV and GUN RACK was the one that was king of the parking lot. The second world was occupied by big cars, SUV, motor bikes, pedestrians and others all extending courtesy and obeying the rules of the road.
In this election it is like one is the parking lot of Sams Club where the person with the biggest SUV, Gun rack, most money, biggest wheel are king of the parking lot UNIVERSE will would win any contest because (money and might make right!)
For my self, give me the rules of the road. I know how to drive defensively and carry insurance of my loss. The last question one should ask a candidate, do you believe in rules of the road or the wild parking lot of Sams Club.
You forgot......leave you shopping cart anywhere so it can roll into and damage other vehicles.....I'm a victim of that careless behavior.....You know that Sams and Wal-mart want your money, and your manners are not a concern to them. It's fun and interesting to talk about who is dividing this country and how, but I think a more appropriate question would be "How do we unite this country"?
This divide is so severe, it's breaking up freindships and families. I would hope we could learn something feom history on what happens when a country is divided. Anybody remember the civil war? Divided country. Anybody that desires to use some common sense knows who and why we are so divided. As long as we are divided, what's going to get accomplished for the good of The Unintd States and not just the elite? Nothing. We will continue to drop to the bottom. We will become a 3rd world country. And, I'm not that sure it will take that muc longer. I'm not that sure how much longer it will be before the next civil war begins. When people have nothing more to lose, they stand up and push back.
And for all you that believe we need to drill regairdless of the environment, how many remember the movie "Road Warrior"? That's us in the not so distant future if we don't get off fossil fuels.

Its all about finding common ground. we all have our differences...we always will...its what i allude to when I say that people are stuck playing the "D" and "R" game. thats exactly what the powerful want...the powerful exist on BOTH sides of the aisle. we WILL continue to drop to the bottom, as long as the elite keep us at each otehr's throats. i agree with you 100% about that.
so what CAN we agree on??? you and I would agree that we need a future that is secure, free from foreign oil sources...i think we both agree on that. the question is, how do we get there? I make jokes about hummers (don't own one- i own a PZEV Subaru) and baby fur seals (not even a hunter, though I have no problem with legal hunting), but the truth is, I am all for an "all of the above" approach to energy.
here is my take: Wind, solar, geotheromal, bio-energy, are all wonderful, IF they can be mass produced effectively. right now, they are ALL cost-prohibitive on mass-scale. here is the perception they want us to have...the "Elite D's" want you to think that all conservatives hate the environment and only care about oil and oil companies. the "ELite R's" want us to me to think that liberals are only about green, green, green, and that they are crazy...how about, the truth is somehwere in the middle???
how about, a long term plan...how about, we use our OWN resources- oil, natural gas (we have 2 CENTURIES of natural gas under us), etc. to carry us until we CAN mass-produce renewable energy, and it becomes a viable alternative. why do we have to buy either "Extreme" (only oil vs. only green) that we are being presented with? would you agree that renewables right now are not realistic to the average American? if so, how do we make them realistic? we tell OPEC "no thanks", we use our own stuff, and we encourage the oil companies to invest in renewables (many already are), and making them VIABLE to the average American? make Electric cars that are cool, and will sell for the same price as its gas-consuming cousin? make solar energy effecient and affordable in the home to replace oil heat?
can we at least agree on an all-in-one approach? or will the elites keep us at each others throats???

Then it is the media talking heads, who refuses to put the light on all of "we the people" legislators corruptions in the workplace. Then it our justice department, who are criminals with badges, giving immunity to the C.I.A., F.B.I., N.S.A. and F.I.S.A., who continue to start wars for our military troops to die and be injured; in the name of "war on terror!" Who is dividing the nation is not what the question should be..........it should be what is dividing the nation?..............Answer: Mankind refusing to "deny ourselves and follow the directive of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ."
