The presidential contest between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney will probably come down to one thing: the unemployment rate and where it's headed.
If that's the case, and many pundits/experts have said it is, the incumbent Obama has the advantage according to a new survey by The Associated Press.
Paul Wiseman reports on an AP survey of 32 leading economists, "who think the recovery will manage to reduce unemployment to 7.9 percent by Election Day from 8.2 percent in March."
Historically, that would boost President Obama's prospects as "no president has lost re-election when the unemployment rate dropped in the two years before the election."
Unemployment was 9.8 in November 2010. If the surveyed economists prove correct, the rate will be 1.8 percentage points lower when Americans vote on Election Day, November 6, 2012.
(Note: technically, we won't get the November 2012 unemployment rate before Election Day. The last report before the election will be issued on Friday, Nov. 2, for the month of October 2012. Even so, October 2010's unemployment rate was 9.5%, a number that these economists surveyed by AP expect be significantly higher than in October 2012).
We get a better idea after April's unemployment report is released tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. EDT.

Keep up the exposure, ED. Obama, back in the White House Again.
I agree with Newt on one thing -- I feel like this is the most important election of my lifetime. #SCOTUS makes it important. Obama2012
Everyone who votes needs to read this:
http://opinionator.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/05/03/do-nothings-and-know-nothings/
Vote em out.
I hope the A.P. poll is right, Ed. ( er, I mean correct) Some of the bloggers on the msnbc homepage say such mean, nasty and veil, hate filled things. It is sad to know there are people like that in my country. I just hope they are the minority.
i agree with BooCoo
http://www.crewof42.com/politics/chart-how-the-gop-budget-would-impact-kids/
Here's some of the Republican priorities.
Obama has done a very good overall job in spite of Republican obstruction. With a fillibuster proof Senate majority and a Democrat House, the economy would get turned around.
Vic, that is funny because the economy got worse when the White House, Senate, and the House were controlled with a super majority by the Dem. Ya that happened at the first of 2009. How short is your memory. Do you remember the housing crisis, that started this whole thing? The one slobbering old Barney Frank just a year before said wouldn't happen and that anyone questioning Fanny and Freddy were just attacking minorities.
Currently the Dems control the Senate and won't even bring a budget to the floor. Vic, is seems to me your ill informed.
Oh, by the way, with just the first stim package the gov could have given every tax payer $250,000.00. Now that would have been a stimulus package. Instead he did a very good job by giving money to his cronies like Solyndra.
Hey chemy, like most conservatives you can't read. Republican obstruction and Fillibuster proof Senate majority. That is what keeps Obama from turning around the 8 YEAR George W. disaster. The Republicans in the Senate have fillibustered everything from day one till right now and the Republican House keeps bills from even going to the Senate now. Put the Neocon koolaide down.
When the Republicans lost control of control the House and the Senate in 2006 ,unemployment was at 5% Vic!!!
Two years later by 2008 the Bush agenda caused the mess we are in right now Melinda. FILLIBUSTER. That's the word you need to learn. It doesn't matter who controls the House or the Senate if one party AKA Republicans use it against EVERY legislation that makes it out of the House. George W. got pretty much everything he wanted. Having a Democrat House and Senate for his last 2 years didn't change much because Senate Republicans continued the FILLIBUSTERS they had already been doing on all legislation.
So Vic please explain why the Democratic Majority in the Senate has not created a SINGLE budget in over 1000 days???
Yet the Republican Majority in the House and created a budget every SINGLE YEAR!!!
They probably are trying to figure out what it will take to clean up W's mess. Of course, Democrats could have a George W. Bush style budget where you act like things you can't afford don't ever have to be paid for. NONE of W's budgets included even a PENNY for the 2 wars. CHARGE IT, that was W's budget. Now it has to be and is being paid for under Obama.
Its taking the democrats in the Senate over 1,000 days to create a budget Vic????
"They probably are trying to figure out what it will take to clean up W's mess. "
Even you really can't BELIEVE that!!!!
My point is, no budget is just as good as a budget that does not include things you are spending money on that are not included in your budget.
If I make my household budget and budget for beer, cigarettes ( I don't smoke), and some other thing I am going to spend my money on, yet I don't include house or rent payment, electric, gas and food costs that I know I am going to get billed for, it doesn't matter if I have a budget or not because some things I am using aren't going to get paid for and will be CHARGED and have to be paid for by someone in the future. That describes the Republican budgets that you were apparently happy about.
Vic
Melinda doesn't want to learn anything. All the points you've pointed out, have stated to her before. Her purpose is to disrupt. Not discuss. I've ask her more than once to name the 60 Democrats she keeps saying we had. She hasn''t ans can't. It's a waste ot time to try and explian anything to her. She don't want to know. She's also been informed many times, it's up to the house to pass a budget. NOT the senate. ALL spending bills MUST originate in the house. She just doen't want to hear the truth. Just bad mouth the Democrats. And she's totally ignprant on when the last budget was passed. She's a troll.
thanks Larry, I was pretty much done wasting time with her. I had already noticed she was just tossing out the Republican talking points. They do all seem to talk the same.
Glad to see that the majority of Americans believe other then the liberals position on this site
As of now the major polls show President Obama and Governor Romney tied!!!!
Wrong again perfect score 100% wrong on every topic. So if you say the sun is shinning then anyone you say it to better go outside and look to make sure.
Vic,
http://onpoint.wbur.org/2012/04/30/paul-krugman-2
We could end this recession with a cooperative congress.
Slak and melinda believe that it only takes 51 votes to break a filibuster or for cloture. They also believe it's up to the President or Dems to pass a budget. It's all been explained many times which proves they have no intention or desire to learn or accept the truth, which in turn proves they're here for nothing more than disruption and bad mouthing. Don't waste your time responding to their lack of interest in knowing the truth.
slacker,
yes, the democrats had a "filibuster proof" senate, but unlike your party, the DEMOCRATS ARE NOT IN LOCKSTEP.
lets be clear on the budget the house passed. they weren't looking to really pass a budget. as they have done so many times, they are passing a budget with everything that they know will pass IN THE HOUSE ONLY. wow. what an accomplishment. there has been nothing in any budget (or anything else, for that matter) that the house has passed, that democrats would agree with, OR VOTE ON, and the repubs know it. they are just wasting time. instead of putting up "pretend budgets", they should be looking for ways to work with the democratic party, and COMPROMISE, as President Obama has done.
BUT, clearly, their loyalty is to the MUSLIM grover norquist, whose pledge they signed. as americans don't mind paying higher taxes for benefits they receive, the republicans have instead pledged their loyalty to a MUSLIM (do some research on grover norquist, MUSLIM). i thought you might want to know that, because i know how you all "hate" muslims, which is why you accuse President Obama of being one. the fact that norquist is a muslim, caused problems between him and W.
Pelosi and Ried were not the ones helping W. get everything he wanted. that was the repub party. as W. had a "super majority" for the first 6 years of his presidency, it was easy for him to get exactly what he wanted. you all love to blame Pelosi and Ried and the democrats for the economic disaster because they had the house and senate the last 2 years of W.'s presidency, but the democrats didn't get done everything, because that is when the number of filibusters skyrocketed by the repubs.
democrats filibuster, too, and they should have that right. the filibuster should be used to protect the rights of the minority, but it should not be abused, it should not be used to stop gov't from working, and that is what the repubs are doing now.
in accordance with their "strategery" meeting while President Obama was being inaugurated, to stop all economic policies, and to do anything else that will move the repubs into power.
i find it interesting that because you all don't want to "claim" W. bush, that you place him beside Pelosi and Ried. lets be clear-the repubs all voted with bush. the repubs are largely responsible for this economic mess, and have been since nixon on.
Psychotic hardly covers it. Under the GWB administration tax revenues were at record highs BECAUSE of the tax breaks. I am very proud of GWB and what he did in Iraq. Has Hussein Obbama been NEARLY as succesful in Afghanistan? Hardly. And Hussein Obama MUST be proud of GWB because nearly all of th policies he campaigned against? He continued of course. And after the Healthcare debacle where the Liberal super majority would not allow any amendments by the Republicans on ANY issue...they asked for no participation and got exactly what they asked for.
You would be seeing as you ignore every failure GWB created. Why GWB was so good at creating jobs that he was losing 800,000 jobs a month when he left office. Poor righty defending GWB still.
scott,
the repubs had plenty of say in the health care bill. the INDIVIDUAL MANDATE (their idea) is the basis of the bill. President Obama put it on the table to get repub votes, but...in keeping with their pledge to each other, they voted NO on their own idea.
W. bush lied about iraq. he had no business going in there, as saddam hussein had nothing to do with 9/11. in knocking off saddam hussein, he removed the buffer between the united states and iran.
as late as 2009, james inhofe lied and said that the individual mandate was a great idea, and one that everyone could work with. mark pauly, one of the originators of the "individual mandate", under the HW bush administration, is pissed off at the republicans in washington for slamming their own idea. he wonders now how the repubs will address health care if they ever have the opportunity or want to take the opportunity.
the democrats asked for participation, and President Obama gave up alot of what he wanted to get them to come to the table, and they still refused. this is in keeping with their promise to EACH OTHER to say NO to everything the President asks for. even their own ideas.
the individual mandate-
the dream act-
cap and tax- all repub ideas.
republicans/baggers follow like sheep, in keeping with the "flock".
you would be better informed if you stopped getting your talking points from fox.
Suzette, I agree with everything you said and Democrats and real independents do also.
scotty, melinda, teabaggers and the rest of the neocons will never agree with you or me.
They were brainwashed long ago by Fox, Limbaugh, Beck and the other lunatics and they can't live a day without these jerks telling them what to think and who to hate and blame for their problems.
India, yes we could improve the economy quickly if Republicans wanted to help instead of obstruct. I have always agreed with Krugman.
LMAO
thanks for the real funny stuff this afternoon.
What would it look like if we were not going into debt a trillion dollars per year?
You can thank Bush and company.
Two wrongs don't make a right
It would look like a DEPRESSION, Don.
Probably right. Paying your bills does mean not living as high on the hog. But this debt is not sustainable. Eventually everything is going to just pay interest on the debt.
I wouldn't mind stimulating the economy if when things are booming we raised taxes and paid it back. Seems to me we never do and so we never really prevent a depression we just postpone it.
Don, you have to spend your way out of a recession not save your way out. Question for all Republicans in Congress and those that vote for them. Why, after you were all for 2 UNPAID for wars and 10 years of UNPAID for tax cuts for millionaires, billionaires and corporations does EVERYTHING all of a sudden need to be paid for right now today. I remember being told I was unpatriotic whenever I questioned Republicans I know about why the wars and tax cuts weren't being paid for by the so called fiscal Republicans.
Never voted for a republican in my life. Agree about spending on war, a total waste of money. Agree we need to raise taxes. Spending your way out is a good idea if and only if you pay it back when things are booming. They never do. They have been saying we need to spend our way out all my life. It does not seem to reduce our debt. Time to bite the bullet.
It's worth mentioning here that by the time Bush got thru creating such a huge debt and running the economy into the ground with high unemployment no President would be able to continue covering government expenses with wars, reduced revenues and the added interest from the debt. Bush brought the country to the breaking point. It's like a trap had been sprung. The next President was dealt an impossible hand. The republicans knew they wouldn't be able to win the presidency after the Bush debacle. Just to make sure a republican wouldn't get caught in the trap they chose Palin for VP.
Totally agree Bush screwed us. We never should have let go of our balanced budget. Now we have to pay the price. We need to stick together and get through this and get back to the balanced budget and start paying down debt.
Are we in a recession? We sure spent enough to be out of it- lots of shovel ready spending. I had read somewhere that we exited the recession. Wouldn't it be logical to exit the spending plan?
Yes, we have been out of recession for a couple of years. Now is the time to pay back that money! This is the new normal folks.
To pay down our debt we need to get the republican obstructionists out of the way and get the economy going. Obviously it will take spending cuts and more tax revenue. It won't work to just keep funneling money to the wealthy.
Agree 100% What leaves the public treasury need to be returned to the public treasury.
Let's not forget, President Obama offered up the "grand bargain" , putting the big three entitlement programs on the table. That was an opportunity to really bend the curve on the nation's debt. But republicans rejected it because it included tax increases for the wealthiest Americans. In fact they rejected the proposition of a 10:1 cut/tax increase ratio. This failure to compromise, this "my way or the highway" mentality of the new radical right will be the downfall of my country if permitted to go unabated.
uhm- even the Obama plan (the Buffett rule) only raises money for about 19 minutes of government.
Why not go back to the last balanced budget- under Clinton. Expand the base and raise taxes on everyone- top to bottom. Get more than 53% involved in the fun called taxes. True- it was Bush who eliminated taxes on those 47%, but we're told to hate the Bush tax cuts. Let's do away with them all.
Don- in lieu of your earlier comments indicating that in your opinion, a stimulative spending plan was appropriate in a recession, and adding the fact that you claim we have been out of a recession for several years- those two threads would seemingly indicate that, with no recession, you no longer think stimulative spending necessary (because the reason you listed for it no longer exists). Would you predict that Obama would now push a budget that was balanced and then laugh as the Republicans fight against it? Seems to me that would be a coup for you lefties? If you really believe both sides of Keynesian theory... Not just the expansive side...
Yes, I think I said that. It would be ok to deficit spend in a recession if and ONLY if we pay it back during the boom times. Keynesian economics is supposed to even out the natural business cycle. Seems to me we have slow growth which is what we want and there is no reason to stimulate the economy further.
Yes Rusty, as the economy improves we should expand the tax base. Only problem is the republicans have forsaken their pledge to Americans and made a Pledge to Norquist. That pledge is like a deal with a crime boss. If they don't raise taxes on the wealthy Norquist will help fund their campaigns. If they do raise taxes Norquist will rub em out, and fund someone who will keep the Norquist pledge.
The republicans stand in the way of an economic recovery and paying down our debt.
Replace the republicans.
We cannot fix anything in this country with this obstructionist congress. They are ruining the economy in an effort to take Obama down.
Keynesian economics would fix it, but they hate the government so much they refuse to let Obama do anything to help the economy.
It could be fixed in two years and the deficit down and they KNOW this, and continue to prevent it. None of the 87 T-party freshman have a clue about economics and do not care to learn. They were put there to obstruct, not legislate.
If you wish to expand the tax base...how about the people that pay NOTHING in taxes? and Keynisian policies have never worked. and it has not again after 3.5 years of this bumbling idiots pollicies.he had the super majority and did nothing but devastate the economy with burdensome regulation. You know JFK had the good sense to CUT taxes...
scott,
If you look at the chart at the top of the page...
oh, why bother.
Hey scott let's go back to what JFK cut the top rate to... 65%
We could start making a dent in our debt.
So you can tell me that the 30 to 40% that pay no taxes need not? the % of tax burden paid by the top 5% is obscene already.Envy and jealousy REALLY is not the American way.
You're wrong. Everyone that works pays SS and medicare tax. Everyone that buys anything pays taxes, either directly through sales tax or indirectly as it's part of the cost of goods calculation used to set the purchase price.
If the republicans would try to help the economy recover instead of just trying to make President Obama a one term President we could increase the tax base to include more working folks.
Republicans like a high unemployment rate because:
1. It makes the President look bad.
2. Competition for jobs keeps the pay scale low.
The amount of the country's wealth held by the top 1% is obscene.
This President's energy policy has put thousands DIRECTLY out of work due to EPA regs this loser passed and then emboldened the EPA to enforce. Anywhere that is thriving runs on cheap busisness costs for energy. And the regulations also have the effect of dampening new businesses opening because of more regs, making it more expensive to operate as well as the health of the businesses already existing reducing thir ability to expand and grow. The problems business has is MOSTLY created by this Jimmy Carter clone
Here we go again the tea bagging republicans fantasy world.
Don- appreciate your clarification and honesty.
fore- you can complain about the right- but the left hasn't proposed an across the board increase back to the Clinton rates either. They love most of the Bush cuts- they just despise a few of them. Obama knows he isn't going to raise any real revenues by taxing the rich. But it's great politicking. If you seriously think revenues need to be raised, then it's going to have to be a top to bottom increase. The GOP may have pledged against that concept- but there hasn't been a single Democrat even suggesting such a bill either. Come back to me when the Left proposes a reversion to the Clinton rates across the board- then I'll believe you when you profess to wanting more revenues.
It wouldn't be smart to increase taxes on folks living paycheck to paycheck. But those that can should pay more. If the republicans would do something helpful for the economy instead of trying to make the president look bad at the expense of the American people, the economy would improve and more people would be in a position to pay taxes.
Fact is, the wealthy are the ones really showing increase in wealth and they already buy all the want to buy. More money for the already rich doesn't stimulate the economy.
It will eventually require everyone to make a sacrifice to pay down the debt, but it won't happen if we keep funneling all the wealth to the hoarding few.
The fact remains, the Norqist pledgers have to be replaced.
So- when do we get to the point that people don't live paycheck to paycheck? Under Clinton, do you think that a ton of people weren't living paycheck to paycheck?
Obama's own analysis confirms the Buffett rule will only pay for 19 minutes of government. It's nothing more than a political gimmick. I actually wish the Republicans would compromise on this and let it pass. Completely take it out of play, and let it become apparent just how much this issues has been innuendo and not fact.
rusty
I agree we should let it pass and show how long it lasts. Maybe until dinnertime.
I don't know about your 19 minutes talking point. Fox news insider has it at 7 days.
It's really a symptom of the problems we face in this country. The division of wealth is a self-perpetuating snowball that only exacerbates the debt problem and the economy in general.
The republicans are working hard to turn control of our country to corporations and the wealthy few. Bottom line you're going to vote republican. That's your free choice. Go into the voting booth and shoot yourself in the foot. I just hope there aren't so many like you that the rest of us get caught in the crossfire.
A number of fact finding sites have basically confirmed, using CBO and White House numbers, that if rich people don't change results (by deferring more income, etc)- in other words, they have the exact same income from the same sources as recent history- that it will fund about 19 minutes worth of government.
If you want to pass this bill, then do it. Just don't spin it ignificant revenue enhancing bill. Call it a "We're made at rich people and want to punish them" bill.
Under President Obama and the Democrats in the House and the Senate we have seen a RECORD 4 years of over 1 TRILLION deficits every year!!!
Still over 1,000 days and no budget from the Democratic Senate!!!
And it's all paying for GWBs 2 conflicts and trying to clean up his mess. And please look up the budget. And it's up to the HOUSE. I really wish if you trolls want to disrupt, you'd atleast get some information and use just a little common sence. I know it's hard for you righties. but you could at least try.
Still no explanation why still over 1,000 days and no budget from the Democratic Senate!!!
Are you stoned or drunk or both. No, probably it's acid, because you are clearly tripping.
The President's 12 year agreement still brings most of the troops home in 2 years. Advisers and intelligence will stay on longer. I would rather we were out now. What's really odd is that republicans hate this President so much that they actually say they want out of a war at.
fore
We know these righties posting here know exactly what is in those agreements and what negociations went on. We know Melinda and Slak have inside information nobody else has got. OH, that's right, Fox Lies told them. And Melinda is so hung up on a budget, she can't do any fact checking, can't see who is holding the budget hostage, what the budget process is. They are both here for one purpose. It's sure isn't to contribute ideas, discuss issues or spread good tidings. It's just the opposite.
And our little newbie troll goes right back to showing that she/he is unaware of where the budget is made. Poor righties left alone they would drown in their own stupidity.
The problem is the teabaggers proposing the same budget time after time with nothing but even more tax cuts for the top and the deregulation of everything. And lets not forget the killing of medicare and SS. Yup, lets pass that budget.
The right wing has only 1 agenda. Stop Obama from becoming a 2 term president. What a shame...
How many abortion bills has the GOP brought before the house and senate? Now how many job bills?
We can sit here and play politics all day but the bottem line is the entire congress is doing nothing. You can have a white/black or green president in the white house and it would not make a difference with this bag of clowns we have representing us.
Romney, remember, like to fire people. He has become rich by pocketing their retirement funds, then firing them, in huge numbers. Wanna make a guess where employment will go under him?
Whose retirement funds did Romney pocket?
You don't have to answer. I'd hate to embarrass ANOTHER liberal.
so everybody is still buying about the jobs overseas transporting by republicans meme. It was recently tested by or socialist public broadcasting network watch it if you dare.
http://video.pbs.org/video/2227791872
Doubt Romney will repeat President Obamas Failed 1 TRILLION "Shovel Ready Job Stimulus" that President Obama joked afterwards "I guess the Shovel Ready jobs weren't Shovel Ready"!!!
You are deaf and dumb. What do you have against facts? What do you have against common sence? You lack both.
President Obama's Council on Jobs and Competitiveness met today in Durham, NC at Cree Inc., a company that manufactures energy-efficient LED lighting. One of the Council's recommendations to President Obama was to streamline the federal permit process for construction and infrastructure projects. It was explained to Obama that the permitting process can delay projects for "months to years ... and in many cases even cause projects to be abandoned ... I'm sure that when you implemented the Recovery Act your staff briefed you on many of these challenges." At this point, Obama smiled and interjected, "Shovel-ready was not as ... uh .. shovel-ready as we expected." The Council, led by GE's Jeffrey Immelt, erupted in laughter

"All they have is name calling."
Calling the kettle black!!
#6.1 - Thu May 3, 2012 3:37 PM EDT
Name calling is based on making things up about someone. There was nothing made up in Larrys assessment of your post, you are either dumber then a box of rocks or you are clueless, that is a fact.
Larry- I'd give you fair to midland odds on Obama quietly giving the ok to the pipeline deal after the election. If he does- what would you say?
He never said he was against it, did he rusty. He said, lets do more research and then we'll make a decision.
Melinda- I've noticed that Larry isn't bright enough to avoid a logic trap- but once you gets ensnared in one- he is smart enough to bail out and go on to the next blog...
You figured him out also
Larry is bitter because when confronted with facts he resorts what he hates about others
Larry resorts to name calling
BTW Rust thank you for your support the other day when I documented to one of the liberals on here over and over and she kept calling me a liar
Too TOo Funny
Rusty is just another you. So rusty who like you makes stuff up to sling hoping something sticks is laughable and it shows a lack of maturity of a 5 year old. That like a 5 year old you refuse to hear anything that you don't like or want to hear leaves us with one course, poking the bear. Making tea bagging republicans whine and cry is fun.
Obama has my vote and all of my extended family members. I had an audience today at the salon and proceeded to explain to all that would listen why they need to register to vote and VOTE and to make sure their young peers vote as well. I got quite a good response. I plan on educating every 20 something yr. old I meet, until the election. I stressed it was for their future and that of their peers. Females get out the vote!
Educate the 53% of all graduates who are unemployed under the Obama Presidency
As well as the Graduates who have 5 and 6 figure student loans with no jobs and no way to pay the loans back
And your mother wears combat boots. See I can make up things too.
slacker,
start your own business
"borrow money from your parents, if you have to" (mitt romney).
You should know that Crafty men condemn studies; simple men admire them and wise men use them. Be a wise man and use the education to get a job, search online for High Speed Universities you will be surprised to learn how fast it is to get degree and pump up your resume
The TRUTH Shall Set You Free!!! VOTE DEM ALL THE WAY 2012!! Let"s Keep That Graph Moving UP!
When you say "Graph moving up" Food stamps, disability claims or people giving up on their chances of being employed?
Right because China is hiring.
HAAAHAA you probably should have your eyes checked the graph that's POINTING DOWN IS for Food Stamps and Unemployment, Hmmm.. I do believe thats when your Buddy W was in Office. VOTE DEM 2012 keep that JOB graph moving UP and FORWARD!!
Sorry but the only thing republicans are good at creating is more poor people. You are just ignoring the last 43 years of republican creating more poor, here i a clue, in 8 years Reagan managed to put 7 million more poor people on the welfare rolls. But hey why let facts ruin your delusions of being in the top 1%.
That is a riot, Rob. And you being from Chicago? You should just say thanks to me and all my downstate cronies for supporting you Chi-town people with a 60% income tax increase and still not able to meet any sort of budget. Be like Illinois- Vote Dem???? Do you not read?
If Boner and his Buddies pulled their heads out of their rear ends and help create the JOBS they were supposed to be Working on, instead of trying up things maybe we could get MORE Revenue coming into the State, or help work on some real help for Foreclousures, because thats causing a strain on the State also, the GOP/TP are NOT THERE to SOLVE the PROBLEMS, they're there to CREATE the PROBLEMS.. VOTE DEM 2012!!
Nah- you should read more. The State of Illinois has a public pension problem, a medicare problem, a medicaid problem, a governmental ethics problem, a number 48 out of 50 ranking from CEOs on business climate, and while Quinn has gotten on board and now recognizes the problem, he was pretty late to the party.
I am not surprised though, that you think more Federal Revenue coming to the state is part of the solution.
Nice to see the liberals still blaming bush for obamas bad policy's. The guy has not been in office for over 3 years now.
And there is still more people out work today than when obama took office, so stop saying he has added jobs!!!
Oh look another new name posting her/his ignorance of government and how government works.
Oh look...the same guy defending the same failure of a President that has shown repeatedly that big government doesn't work.ran out of apologies for your food stamp president yet?
LOL
thanks for the laughs, this morning. failure president now thats just funny stuff.
Oh look another factless tea bagging republican who just can't read charts.
Glad to see stupid in your name, it fits.
whomitmay, teabaggers aren't worth a response. First note that all the major concerns they have were brought about by George W. Bush and weren't important those 8 years but are now the most important issues in the world now. Their ignorance is epic.
Most of them are elderly and against the very services they use, medicare and social security. They watch Fox, listen to Limbaugh, Hannity, Ingram, Beck and the other right wing brainwashers every day. Most of them can't answer any political questions unless they have memorized a neo con talking point. At least 30% of middle class voters are brain dead idiots.
Guess what, genius? The social net spending as well as the Fannie/Freddie inflicted depression has the U.S. on a E.U. style fiscal disaster.GWB added bennies onto these programs I did not like and Now Hussein Obama wants to fill the dole with Illegals as well as deadbeats with no intent on working for free healthcare on the taxpayers backs. This financial crisis is a Hussein Obama inflicted problem made an immediate threat by the economic collapse in EuRope. hence,genius...THAT is why it is an issue NOW...got it?
I think we have one using differant names. I recognize a couple comments from other blogs and they're the same. Same wording, language. They arn't even smart enough to understand how words are used. Watch what 3 of the newbies say and how they say it. (but now that I've exposed them, they'll change.) Right jerry.
The only thing you have 'exposed" is probably Bill Clinton-esque.
scotty, thank you. Compared to you I am a genius. This Hussein Obama talk from you just show you to be the right wing idiot you are. The financial crisis is due to (2) trillion dollar wars NEVER PAID FOR EVEN A PENNY and tax cuts for millionaires, billionaires and corporations NEVER PAID FOR EVEN A PENNY while W was president. It was all CHARGED fool. Now the payment has come up PAST DUE while Obama is president.
Scotty boy, if you could live in your home for 8 years and make no house payments, no insurance payments, no electric or gas payments and somehow manage not to get evicted, On that 9th year, you would be buried in debt that you would have to borrow money with interest to dig your way out.
That is what Obama and Americans are doing now due to W's mess. You really are a moron, I bet you're a teabagger too.
If you desire a teabagging, I suppose anything to help out my Liberal colleagues. What % of the budget is social spending....And Hussein Obama has a 65%increase in food stamps and a 75% increase in disability claims during his tenure...why do YOU suppose that is? The biggest chunk of your budget is a GREAT place to begin cutting and instead , this Welfare President has expanded it a an alarming rate. But how succesful was bush in Iraq and Hussein Obama in Afghanistan again? And how much was the surge in Afghanistan?
Vic its not fair scotty is at the rain man level. Or the lawn mower man.
whomitmay,
Sheep like scotty can't think, they can only puke out Republican lies aka talking points.
Vic- if what you say is true- then it would put him in the same boat, just on the starboard side instead of the port side, as a good many other bloggers on here. They merely spew MSNBC nonsense- and MSNBC gets their talking points from Moveon and HuffPo.
Come on folks. Did you see one of the latest ads about "forward" going "backward"??
That is great isn't it? Did anyone see that ad? As Ed would say...."SPOT ON".
If this president is re-elected, folks our country will be in trouble. Remember, the ONLY thing Barack Obama has moved this country forward on is THE AMOUNT OF DEBT WE HAVE.
He has tripled it in 3.5 years.
Where do you think we will be if he gets another 4? That scares me.
I am pretty certain that every bad job report piles on this President's exit, due to his plethora of failed policies. Jimmuh Carter redux. one and done. What the supremes don't strike down will be rolled back by Feb.1 "Lean" on that one.
Right because you hope people will vote for Mittens the most disliked person ever to run for office. Even republicans can't stand him.
"Mittens"? If I suspected you actually worked...I would swear it was at an advertising agency...*rolling eyes*Actually, nobody hates Romney. Conservatives just wanted as far right a candidate as this failure leans left.Way too centrist for me. get a clue.
Well then stop advertising for the GOP and you won't feel like a used and abused low wage employee of Koch industries. Conservatives are like 5 year old problem children, all they can do is whine and cry when they don't get their way. Like you are doing now. Funny how just a few weeks ago you conservatives where whining anyone except Mittens and now you are on the Mittens band wagon, yep shows just how long you will stick to your moral fiber until you are told what to do.
And to throw the Koch name out as if you actually have a clue about them...instead of just hearing liberal loons denounce them, and then parrot the lines yourself...you are a punchline. Never once have I demonized George Soros who engages in the same practices as do the Kochs...why? because there are NO "Boogeymen" with agendas ... just paranoid schizophrenics like you who will pick up that crazy mantra from whatever talking head they see on T.V.
Except I am not a republican I have researched Koch industries as well as who the Koch brothers support as well as what the Koch brothers agenda is. Here is a clue, they are out for their own interests and you are not one of their interests you are just another way for them to reach their goal, a stepping stone.
Stop accusing others of the laziness you display, that you seem to believe that liberals are anything like you goose stepping conservatives is laughable as we do not follow others well and we disagree with other liberals. We do not repeat TV show commentaries which can not be said about you as everything you have said comes straight out of Fox news broadcasts.
The only "goose stepping" is the lock step of Ed, Madcow and you disciples that listen to their craziness. Fox at least does not runn thirty second spots with the hosts telling you why you should be stupidly partisan just as they.soros can spend his cash on his Liberal devices jusdt as the koch's are legally allowed to do. Why bleat like a lost sheep about perfectly legal activities?
Here we go again dragging Reagans stinking rotted corpse out to try to prov a point while ignoring that poor old Reagan was insane and couldn't tell reality from delusions made up in his insane mind, like you. the only bleats you hear are the ones that come out of your repeats of Fox news hysteria.
So how many more people does Hussein Obama have to discourage enough to get out of the job market entirely so the employment rate will drop below 8%?
Thats easy vote out the republicans until there are only enough republicans in congress to drown in a bath tub.
That is what is hilarious...Even if Hussein Obama somehow survives his own policies and stays in office, both houses will have larger percentages of conservatives either way. This guy is a lame duck either way. Either a 1 termer, or a 4 year lame duck. Chew on that one.
Meanwhile, the unemployment rate fell to 8.1% as 342,000 workers dropped out of the labor force. At 63.6%, the portion of the working-age population participating in the job market is now at its lowest level since 1981
U.S. Homeownership Hits Decade Low under Obama's lack of leadership
Obamas campaign slogan should be "Moving backwards"
Oh give it a break the GOP suck at everything they do. When a republican say that government doesn't work all he is saying is elect me and I will show you how badly I am at running the government. Stop projecting republican failures on democrats, its not that democrats are bad its that republicans are stupid.
Romney's GOP Campaign Slogan " SPINNING IN CIRCLES"
Hey Mitt here's another one for you "FLAILING AWAY"
Rob- you may be right. I can see the people in the pragmatic center of the political spectrum- their Bumper sticker- "Romney- Flailing Away; Obama- Failing Away" I am starting to like the way you think...
And it doesn't appear that little scottie has read the morning "jobs and unemployment" report. Surprise. He would addmit it if he did.
When Barack Obama entered office in January, 2009, the labor force participation rate was 65.7%, meaning nearly two-thirds of working age Americans were working or looking for work.
When the recession supposedly officially ended in June, 2009, the labor force participation rate was still 65.7%.
In the latest, much celebrated, unemployment report, the labor force participation rate had plummeted to 63.7%, the most rapid decline in U.S. history. That means that under President Obama nearly 5 million Americans have fled the workforce in hopeless despair.
The trick is that when those 5 million are not counted as in the work force, they are not counted as unemployed either.
If they were counted, the unemployment rate today would be a far more realistic 11%, better reflecting the suffering in the real economy under Obamanomics.
The "Misery index" resurrected by obama, just as many other of Jimmuh Carters stupid and famously unsuccesful policies has been resurrected by this failure.
Oh look a circular firing squad full of meaningless republican talking points that are just empty words meant to inspire stupid people to vote against themselves.
Also notice they fail to mention the # of jobs added to the private secter and the unemployment rate dropped again. The righties must not read their daily e-mail updates. Just last months Fox Lies talking points. At least that's all I've heard out of "melinda, scottie don......" But then "rusty and eugenie" just spew any lies or garbage they can get to come out of their mouths. Same stuff that got them both banned from other blogs.
Duh, The reason it dropped is people dropping out of the job market.

Except it isn't and all republicans are good at is running off at the mouth saying nothing worth listening to because they lie.
Larry- could you be specific about what Lies I have told? Pretty big accusations- and if you can't back them up- then, that would make you a liar about me.
And Larry- could you let me know what blog I have been banned from? It appears to me that there is a liar on these blogs. And, it is becoming apparent who it is. Would you care to guess what his initials are, LARRY?
Hint- you're destroying your credibility. Stop while you're behind.
Gee- I see where Larry has been on a number of these blogs today. He must have taken my advice and moved on. From this point on, when I use LL to respond- just consider that I am addressing Lying Larry.
Larry, first of all scotty and melinda prove they are losers by even being on this thread. For some reason, right wing teabagger idiots all get on liberal sites like the Ed Show thinking we remotely give a crap how stupid they all are.
The very few times I go on an idiot site, I mean conservative site like Fox, Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck or any of the other right wing losers, I just don't see liberals trying to argue with them.
Of course, that makes sense because liberals can think for them selves and are smart enough to know not to argue with right wing idiot clones that can only regurgitate right wing talking points.
Frankly, you are an idiot for no other reason than the woefully unsuccesful views you hold. And really, is there some kind of "Liberal mickey mouse club" you have to join to come and exchange ideas here? And whenever you want that nose bender...schedule early.A lot of Liberals asking for Teabagging these days.
So Posting Facts is arguing?
Why, Because they might disagree with your opinions?
Why do Liberals feel they have to resort to name calling?
Maybe because they just are frustrated they can't dispute the facts!!
Why do Liberals feel the need to denigrate other websites who's opinions are different then their own?
Why can't people just disagree without being disagreeable and leave the name calling for the children!!!!
I'm just afraid they are not going to ask me to join their exclusive "club" now. Kind of like Mensa in reverse. Only low double digits allowed apparently.
Vic,
You're right, I mean correct. If you point them to a fact they ignore it and vomit some unrelated rhetoric.
Melinda wouldn't know a fact if it slapped her in the face. She's ignored every, documented fact that has been pointed out to her. The righties even have a troll that was banned from Hannity's blog. That's hard to do.
Larry fact to a republican is repeating whatever lie Fox news reports and saying it 3 times, that is the magic number that changes a lie to fact in the minds of delusional people.
this is right on track for what Obama wants...i mean, not only is unemployment still over 8%, but new hiring went down significantly in APril, AND the BEST part is that the U6 numer is close to 13%!!! good job Obama!!! Smallest work force since the Carter era!!! less people working, more people on the "Pelosi-stimulus" (Unemployment)...yep, thats a GREAT effort on your part!!!
Those numbers don't reassure me...the election is based on how people feel and they don't feel good about the economy...Clinton's economic advisor said "these numbers are pretty disappointing"... a bad omen for the Obama campaign.
