My point is, no budget is just as good as a budget that does not include things you are spending money on that are not included in your budget.

If I make my household budget and budget for beer, cigarettes ( I don't smoke), and some other thing I am going to spend my money on, yet I don't include house or rent payment, electric, gas and food costs that I know I am going to get billed for, it doesn't matter if I have a budget or not because some things I am using aren't going to get paid for and will be CHARGED and have to be paid for by someone in the future. That describes the Republican budgets that you were apparently happy about.

the repubs had plenty of say in the health care bill. the INDIVIDUAL MANDATE (their idea) is the basis of the bill. President Obama put it on the table to get repub votes, but...in keeping with their pledge to each other, they voted NO on their own idea.

Let's not forget, President Obama offered up the "grand bargain" , putting the big three entitlement programs on the table. That was an opportunity to really bend the curve on the nation's debt. But republicans rejected it because it included tax increases for the wealthiest Americans. In fact they rejected the proposition of a 10:1 cut/tax increase ratio. This failure to compromise, this "my way or the highway" mentality of the new radical right will be the downfall of my country if permitted to go unabated.

Why not go back to the last balanced budget- under Clinton. Expand the base and raise taxes on everyone- top to bottom. Get more than 53% involved in the fun called taxes. True- it was Bush who eliminated taxes on those 47%, but we're told to hate the Bush tax cuts. Let's do away with them all.

Yes, I think I said that. It would be ok to deficit spend in a recession if and ONLY if we pay it back during the boom times. Keynesian economics is supposed to even out the natural business cycle. Seems to me we have slow growth which is what we want and there is no reason to stimulate the economy further.

Yes Rusty, as the economy improves we should expand the tax base. Only problem is the republicans have forsaken their pledge to Americans and made a Pledge to Norquist. That pledge is like a deal with a crime boss. If they don't raise taxes on the wealthy Norquist will help fund their campaigns. If they do raise taxes Norquist will rub em out, and fund someone who will keep the Norquist pledge.

Fact is, the wealthy are the ones really showing increase in wealth and they already buy all the want to buy. More money for the already rich doesn't stimulate the economy.

A number of fact finding sites have basically confirmed, using CBO and White House numbers, that if rich people don't change results (by deferring more income, etc)- in other words, they have the exact same income from the same sources as recent history- that it will fund about 19 minutes worth of government.

If you want to pass this bill, then do it. Just don't spin it ignificant revenue enhancing bill. Call it a "We're made at rich people and want to punish them" bill.

When Barack Obama entered office in January, 2009, the labor force participation rate was 65.7%, meaning nearly two-thirds of working age Americans were working or looking for work.

When the recession supposedly officially ended in June, 2009, the labor force participation rate was still 65.7%.

In the latest, much celebrated, unemployment report, the labor force participation rate had plummeted to 63.7%, the most rapid decline in U.S. history. That means that under President Obama nearly 5 million Americans have fled the workforce in hopeless despair.

The trick is that when those 5 million are not counted as in the work force, they are not counted as unemployed either.

If they were counted, the unemployment rate today would be a far more realistic 11%, better reflecting the suffering in the real economy under Obamanomics.

The "Misery index" resurrected by obama, just as many other of Jimmuh Carters stupid and famously unsuccesful policies has been resurrected by this failure.
