Mitt will continue the transfer of wealth from the poor and middle class to the rich, while eliminating many jobs -- such as shutting down the post office, closing public schools, eliminating health care for women and children, and transferring more jobs overseas. We will all be selling apples on the streets -- if we have enough money left to buy a supply of apples. They want to take us back to Dickinsonian times -- and will use the Depression they created with their securities fraud as an excuse to destroy all vestiges of the common weal: Social Security, schools, colleges and universities, parks, US Post Office, wilderness areas, Medicare, etc. They are not playing -- they want to destroy the middle class. This has always been the republican intent.

Yes they were from post's he seeded, also I got into some lengthy discussion with him a few months ago regarding "The numbers on bad science." Something about researchers making up numbers to expand their budgets, and careers, targeting the climate and environmental sciences. He's really big on the oil company's for some reason.

I'm not Space Guy, but a lemming is actually a small rodent. The relevance to "lemmings" has to do with an urban myth regarding lemmings going over the edge of a cliff and committing mass suicide, as if the lemmings were blindly following a leader. I know a lot of us who watch "The Ed Show" think of many of the people who watch Faux News or listen to Rush as "lemmings" because they blindly believe what they hear as being the truth even when it's just an opinion at best because they don't think for themselves (and, quite often, what they hear agrees with what they want to believe).

Look, I know you throw out the soft-ball questions. This goes a lot deeper then that. People will probably say I'm a kook, but having done a bit of study on the decline of the Romans, I can say that the COUNTRY cannot survive a "republican" presidency. We are following in the Roman footprints as if God was the very puppeteer. We gut the middle-class, creating internal strife, concentrate the wealth with a few people that are making outragious decisions. I'd like to point out that, within a fairly long span toward the end of the Roman Empire, the people inside the government were killing emperors because of how disgusting they had become.

This all eventually lead to a general weakening of the Empire that made it vunerable to attack from outside. Now, I doubt that the muslims or any other of the, "likely suspects," are going to attack us once we are at each other's throats. More likely, there will be a global takeover, for, "the good of the planet." Maybe the Eurozone will take over. If we are lucky, it will be Canada, if not, China. The point is, once the world, which knows all too well that if we are on the brink, so are they, will have every incentive to take over, and if our national guard are fighting rioters in the streets, like the Roman Army was, we will have nothing to stop the, "friendly takeover."

This is serious. Michigan is a battle ground right now. Wisconsin is coming up, allong with Arizona, and probably South Carolina.

Cav you may have some misconceptions about ancient Rome.

First Rome started as a republic not an empire as most think. Most of Rome's history was before it became an empire that happend much later. Also the emperors behaving badly was also only toward the tale end of ancient Rome. The first true emperor Octavian Augustus was confirmed by the Senate, they gave him the title technically Julius Caesar just took the word emperor for himself he was never legally declared.

Next there was no exact gutting of the middle class you have to understand even as a republic Rome was strictly divided on economic lines so they never changed to that since that had always been the case. That was always part of Roman society. What happend was the emperors spent all the money of the treasury on unnecessary projects like collaseums, mansions, other private estates all designed to glorify the emperors who commissioned them. They did this instead of paying their debts and concentrating on insuring the army was taken of.

In truth the facts behind Rome's collaspe was the extreme authoritarian power of the emperors and the relations Rome had with European and other tribes who they viewed as barbarians that were uncivilized. Rome paid these tribes like the Huns to be mercenaries to the empire for years and that became how the tribes like the Huns supported themselves. They relied on sacking the places where they could get paid most. Basically after the treasury started to go empty they no longer paid these tribes so naturally they invaded to perserve their source of income.

Also Rome broke many treaties with different tribes. I'm reminded of one particularly interesting case where I think it was the Daciens, or Goths or something that made a deal with Rome that if they helped to supply soldiers or whatever the Romans asked for that they would that they would be allowed to cross a certain river into Roman territory because they were starving. Think Irish immigrants back in the earlier days of the nation. So this tribe was willing to hold up their end of the bargain and Rome said it would as well however when they got there they were treated like crap. That is if they were allowed to even cross into Roman territory, the soldiers were told to kill anyone trying to cross the river even after they signed an agreement with them.

Basically Rome stabbed a lot of people in back and it got to the point where they were raising more demons they could put down so when the barbarians seeking vengeance come back they could not fight them off they had become too weak to continue to get away with that

GW Bush and his administration started the raping and pillaging of the country. He looted the treasury of the surplus left by Clinton, gave huge tax cuts to the rich and started wars he didn't pay for. He raped the country of it's good name and reputation by invading countries without cause and breaking laws against torturing prisoners.

Given that Bain Capital is where Romney was working when he really started getting filthy rich, I'm more inclined to associate Romney with Michael Milken, although there are some key differences: 1) Milken was convicted, 2)Milken subsequently saw the error behind what he was doing, repented, and has been lately occupied with atoning for the harm he caused. On the other hand, Romney wasn't arrested and feels no guilt at getting rich by using other peoples' money to force LBOs and leaving the raided companies with no assets, leaving them to go bankrupt.

Romney crows about success stories like Staples, which has become a Big Box Office Supply chain, but ignores the fact that a lot of Mom & Pop stores, local to the communities where the did business, were forced into closing their stores because they couldn't compete.

I don't recall who said it first, but the idea of having a President who would have the same economic policies as Bush-43, except for being on steroids, sounds right. So the ramifications of what would happen were Romney to be elected as POTUS #45 is nothing short of horrifying.

Even with the success Obama has managed to have, in spite of GOP obstruction every step of the way, there has been lingering talk of a double-dip recession. So long as Obama is reelected, I feel confident that we'll avoid the double-dip, and recovery from the Great Recession will spread. However, with Romney at the helm (which would only happen if the GOP keeps House majority and takes the Senate majority), the only roadblock to the 2nd Great Depression would be Democrat initiated filibusters of the Ryan-Romney budget.

With the GOP overreaches in Wisconsin, Ohio, Michigan, etc., and the concurrent attacks on Unions, Planned Parenthood, and the Voter Suppression Laws, promoted by ALEC, the Koch Brothers, and the rest of that Plutocratic ilk i I also feel quite confident that a majority of citizens in those states will be voting Democrat as much as they can, doing what they can to prevent the GOP from taking back the White House, taking the Senate, or keeping the House.
