U.S. Rep. Joe Walsh said at a town hall Sunday that Obama was elected because he is black. He claimed that Barack Obama would have never been president if it weren’t a historic vote.
He told supporters in Wheeling, Illinois, "He was a historic figure. He’s our first African-American president. The country voted for him because of that."
In bipartisan fairness, he said “it helped that John McCain was about 142 years old.” Senator John McCain was 71 when he ran for president.
Joe Walsh has said this before. Last May Congressman Walsh told the Slate’s Dave Wiegel:
"Why was he elected? Again, it comes back to who he was. He was black, he was historic. And there's nothing racist about this. It is what it is. If he had been a dynamic, white, state senator elected to Congress he wouldn't have gotten in the game this fast…he pushed that magical button: a black man who was articulate, liberal, the whole white guilt, all of that," got him elected.
Walsh (R-IL) faces a tough election in the fall against Iraq War veteran Tammy Duckworth to retain the 8th district.

I'm not a Republican or Democrat. I'm a listener. I watch and listen. My Dad taught me I have 2 eye and 2 ears for a good reason. So many people don't use their eye and ears or they would have listened before Mr. Obama was put into Presidency.

Hillary wasnt getting the support the left wanted and that is the truth. Obama stated in 2004 that he would not run for the Presedential election because he believed he needed experience in order to do so and it would be unfair ..that..can be looked up on youtube i think under obama wont run in 2004 or run for president. I did not vote for him because of not having experience. All he needed after getting elected was people telling him what to do. that would be like having Biden take control of the nukes should anything happen. learn as you go and i was not about to throw my vote on the popularity vote. I dont about evrey voter but I have several friends who voted for him because they wanted to be part of history. Also all of my Afican American friends lold me they specify voted for him because he was black and the fact that he would give more free handouts ( entitlements). Race was an excitement factor on the denocratic side and there is nothing wrong with admitting that. I'm sure if you're a white male you can't humanize and comprehend that from your life experience perhaps but it was and there is again zero wrong with admitting that. If you've lived your entire life thinking someone not white would ever be president and there is a chance to see that happen if you're a non white person you're going to be inspired by that as a human being.
