someone recently asked me why i haven't switched teams. i wrote kinda my usual tongue in cheek answer but recently something has happened that brings it all home. I have a few friends on the bolg from the left I cherish them because they are always friendly tolerant and sometimes heated in their blogs but even those who are regulars on that side who clearly are not my friends we still have lively debates whiteout calling name ( most of the time excepting a well known flame thrower ) sometimes in the heat it goes overboard sometimes by me. to a major extent my politics are driven by the particular field i chose to study years ago. I know what i know and im secure in what I know.and night after night I keep reading false statements about conservatives what we believe and what terrible people we are,statement showing gross misunderstanding of how capitalism works (most seem to me to come from liberal talking points sites), and a tendency to change the subject by calling me a racist when actual facts are presented. Recently i changed my Avatar. As a kid grown up in Kc i always admired a copy of a statue called the THINKER by Rodin of a man sitting on a rock doing just that. that sat at the entrance of the Art Gallery. Rodin made the sculpture to the poet Milton contemplating his epic POEM PARADISE LOST befre entering the gates of hell. I found a copy of it but sitting on the can instead of a Rock . my handle thoughtful seemed to match and I thought it would be hilarious so I put it up. Since then had had two threats to do me bodily injury because of it/ One of them embodied all of what i said at the beginning of this post. I thought I would share it as an example, along with my knowledge of economics, of why I'm not changing. I have left the poster name off because I do not want to encourage another diatribe.The other one is well know here and i nameing them for the same reason.
