Now that Mitt Romney has all but wrapped up the GOP presidential nomination, its time to get back to some serious fundraising.
This morning, the Mittster went on the offense at a Manhattan fundraiser hosted by New York Jets owner (and good buddy) Woody Johnson. But like a good game, the event needed some solid opposition.
The faux football team, New York 99ers, huddled outside to form a "defensive line against the same failed Bush economic policies that sacked the middle class."
The 99ers insist Romney's economic playbook gives "millionaires, big oil companies and corporations that offshore American jobs trillions of dollars in new tax breaks."
The 99ers posed for photos at the Marriott Marquee Hotel in Times Square, wearing uniforms similar to the Jets, complete with "we are the 99 percent" brazened on the front their jerseys.
The protest was organized by United NY and Americans United for Change.
Go 99ers!

Maybe democrats will boycott Jets home games this year?
So Romney's good friends with the Jets?
His seats are as good as it gets -
The way the world's sufferin',
His team could use Bufferin -
He will suffer the same fate as the Mets...
One of the problems with Robme is he know nothing about "average American". With all the unemployed, underemployed, foreclosed homes etc, he brags about his money. That's the only place he gets his self worth, identity. Pathetic.
David, You won the Super Bowl with this one !!!!!
People who think Romney's plan for the country is a good one need to remember the date: September 18th, 2008.
People who think his foreign policy would be good for this country should have overheard the talk within his campaign today where they spoke about Czechoslovakia and the Soviets. (Neither exist today). Wha....??
If GWB was your cup of tea, you'll love him on steroids. Just as tenaciously Manichean, just as stupid, only more driven! That's Romney and his friend, Ryan: Bush on steroids.
God help us.
The dialoge from the radical right must be confronted: GO TEAM, do bad he doesnt know the owner of this team..... oh thats right he fired him becase the benefits were too big. if the darn little people would just accept being poor already.

That pretty much sums it up.....Careful....contains adult language...
99 Er's you are amazing !!! Thanks for standing up for the middle class against the rich tyrant who would take us to the cleaners. Job well done !!!! You scored a touch down!!!!
This is too funny- looks like a bunch of feigned angry white guys.
Oh, reps, I though you said they would go away? ? ?
have you seen the other team?
The one on the left (Left, we call him) seems to be in need of a restroom trip. The anguish on his face is unmistakeably biological.
I don't see it.....which left, mine, the picture perspective or yours
If it is about the guy with the fumble sign looks like a vulcan, he looks a bit like spock don't you think
The people need to be informed that the traditional wisdom on the republican party does not apply in this election. Look at the primary, never have we seen so many candidates with so little potential, never have we seen three to maybe even four different people win the first three primary contests, never has so much money been spent in an election. So the conventional wisdom is proving wrong, why does this matter? Well because the GOP is often seen as not raising taxes on the people but this time it is not true and they have not tried to hide to hide that. Still they are banking on people not realizing the economic plan of the GOP is to raise taxes on the middle class and below and lower them on the rich. So the GOP wants to raise your taxes not Obama. Don't believe the lie.
Romney's ridiculous republicans really want to raise your taxes
Essentially Romney has no plan of his own that is new unique or designed for these crisis. Raising taxes on the job creators who are the middle class doesn't work. No business worth a dime hires more people unless regular people are coming and spending their desposable income in your business. That's what fuels an economy the people spending it not the people who just have a lot of it.
CC- I will admit that you would be hard pressed to find many in love with Mitt.
Obama has been great on foreign affairs, but he hasn't a clue domestically.
Obama's pluses have been he has aggressively deported illegal immigrants, has implemented the Obama Doctrine (plug'em before they surrender) and he has genuinely been good at handling foreign crisis's.
The economy- he doesn't have a clue. OK Libs- challenge me on my first points, then my second. I'm serious- I'd love to have libs who would be genuine and not MSNBC quackers.
And exactly what plan would the teabaggers have that would have made this economy bounce back quicker out of this recession/depression? I know, don't tell me. More tax cuts for the top2% including doing away with the capital gains tax and the complete deregulation of wall street, letting the 'free market' correct itself, and last but not least stand back and let our auto industry go down the tubes along with a million jobs. Am I close?
Indeed it seems the only groups Romney can seem to get in his corner are the very few super rich......he's got the cylon/android vote for sure since he himself is an android america too bad they can't vote
On the economy I do think it is Obama's week spot right now but the GOP would be foolish to think that the public thinks he could do a better job and by "he" I mean Romney. The economy is also Romney's vulnerable place because he's been caught flipping on statements where he's said the economy has improved...which is true which is why his change off computer operating system....I'm sorry "heart", change of "heart" is so damaging. Romney has talked about having business experience and he has very little of the kind we need. We need someone who has created a business from scratch to offer advice because it's those small businesses which fuel the economy. Mitt was more like a lawyer than business man. Romney and the boys got into equitty trading for profit, government is not supposed to be a for profit force
Personally I hope with all this economy talk that we are not forgetting the president legally shouldn't have much to do with the economy and that the job involves many other things which have yet to be seriously addressed in this campaign. Obama's use of the illegal patriot act powers scares me as much as the thought of romney trying to flip flop during international debates
I just have to ask, where did you hear, or see it written that The Republicans want to raise taxes on the middle class ? Do you have any facts to support your claim ?
Know this, Obama seeks a Europe like economy. Europe tried to have the rich finance their European socialism, but they finally realized that in order to finance the welfare state, the 40 % tax bracket had to extend well into the middle class, and it does ! Now, yourself, and Obama, either do not know this, or you will not tell the truth. The Demacrats will increase taxes on the middle class before the Republicans.
Ask the poor and middle class how Obama's war on oil is helping them ? Sorry, but you people are so blind !
Look at the economic plans from all the major republican candidates for president and the ryan budget itself. Look at their staunch opposition to discuss raising the top income earners tax rates yet show strikingly less when it comes to things like the student rates percentage and pay roll tax holiday which deal with people who work for a living
either you don't know this or you are lying but it is a fact and it is very much on record. Look at their plans and see the middle and lower brackets raised and the higher brackets fall further increasing the revenue gap
The reaganomics you cherish have failed to trully help the average american nearly as much as the few richest folks around. The nation's financial situation will not be solved by spending cuts alone.
There is no war on oil by virtue of the fact that domestic production is up, there's more drilling in the gulf than there has been previously. To paraphrase Bill O'reilly any politician who tells you they can lower gas prices is lying. So supply, not a problem, production up, tons of oil being held by various entities so it doesn't go to market. Plenty of oil. Price still up. Clearly supply is a not a significant factor. So desperate baloney
Tex- lol- no, not even close. You will have to ask a TP person what they think instead of deciding for yourself and then pertraying it upon me, a non-TPer.
But I do admire how creative and theatrical you can be. I know logic and honesty has never been your forte, but you forgot about women hating and the other elements.
Over the past year- I have numerous times laid out the "Rusty" proposal. What proposals do you have except for the Obama plan on millionaires that has been validated in Fact Finder sites as being portrayed accurately in it will fund 19 minutes of government?
CC- I basically agree with everything you are saying. I would only possibly differ in that I think the scales slightly tips to Romney being less foolish than Obama. I would suspect you think it slightly tips the opposite, and would respect that. Romney will be better for the economy- but I don't think that point will be readily sold to the public. They know Obama is failing, but Obama will do a great marketing job, not of his own results, but of scaring people of the big bad guy.
Sorry, Cynical, you could not be more wrong. Reganomics worked, and that is why liberals have been lying about Reganomics ever since. The doctrine you woprship, " trickle down government" has never worked, and it never will.
Domestic production is up because of private lands, and policies implemented undwer Bush. Upon taking office, Obama made oil rich land off limits in several states. Obama has declared war on oil, and if reelected, his EPA will finish off oil ! There are videos of Obama saying that our electric bills must sky-rocket, he is trying to bring this country to it's knees and you cannot see it, young, Taker !
Really impactful....8 protestors dressed in football uniforms. Why not report some real news.
Rufus, they did and guess what, you read it AND commented on it! hhmmm
typical democrat, making assumptions...you are wrong, I did not read the article...I saw the picture and read the headline and knew there was nothing substantive in what might follow.
Evidently you can fool all the liberals all of the time and some of the conservatives some of the time. This whole thing was funded by "United For American's" which is a liberal group funded by Moveon.org and the unions. So, at the top of the funding is George Soros who helped the Jews get to the train station on time for Hitler to give them a ride. What a ride it was. Keep hearing about Bush's failed policies that put us into this situation from the liberals. Can't blame them for feeling that way to a degree, but it was really the Democrats that caused the problem and there is proof, not that it matters anyway. Like I said, you can fool the liberals all of the time. Borrowed from my good friend TAP, since I see he hasn't had the time to put it on here, since he is probably working to provide for his family and pay taxes. He has very little needs from anyone here. He supports himself, probably some of you and would like for others to have the same ideolgy, so his son can have the same opportunities he had as a child growing up in this great country. He wants everyone to have this opportunity. So TAP here goes....
Burning Down The House: What Caused Our Economic Crisis? Bombshell
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RZVw3no2A4&feature=endscreen&NR=1
Thank you TAP.... We've been showing this for quite awhile, but it would take a half dozen videos from the floor. This one ties them in very nicely to get the point across.
Anyone interested in the truth, it's there on the floor of the house for all to see. Or you can choose to ignore the facts and live in a fantasy world.
from the looks of your sriting you my friend live in the fantasy world of Faux News, seems you have lost your way....turn right on the Yellow Brick Road and your on your way to the land of unicorns, rainbows and gosh darn it, cotton candy too! wwweeeeeeee
6- I spent the time to watch this. Very much on target. I would expect that very few will comment on it, and those that do will do so in a very goofy and irrelevant way, such as above with Enodot blaming the media, as if it is their fault the housing bubble was caused and collapsed.
It just occurred to me... With all the noise the media and Fat Ed is making about
Romney's wealth, I don't recall such bluster and hand-wringing over the
Kennedy fortune. Or, for that matter, John Kerry. Or the fact that John
Kerry gave virtually nothing to charity while Romney gave something on the
order of $4 million... in addition to giving away his entire inheritance from his father.
Oh. Wait. I just remembered. Romney is Republican. Kerry and the Kennedys
are Democrats. Also, Romney worked for his money. Kennedy inherited his. And
Kerry married it. Never mind. Nothing to see here folks. Move along.
yes Adam, move along back to your Faux News fantasy land where you can worship the republican man
Enos- anything on content? or just tired, worn cliches? You sound as silly and pointless as Ed.
Read it and weep, Takers :
