That being said, this photo does not prove guilt or innocence. We must still wait for the jury to decide that...if it gets to trial.

Chris - My defense would be Mr. Zimmerman could have believed that Mr. Martin was 18 or 19 years old, thus both technically a teenager and legally an adult. You could make an argument that when he said a "couple" he literally meant 2 years, but that would most likely not hold up in court as a "couple' is most often used generically.
You would also need to establish a timeline - did Mr. Zimmerman at first believe Mr. Martin to be an adult (in his 20's), then realize after visually engaging the subject more and realizing he was acting suspicious - he was most likely a teenager?

if zimmerman's head was smashed against the sidewalk within an inch of "wearing diapers" and "being spoon-fed by his brother", almost "unconcious" as it were, i would expect to see a lot more damage, bruising and abrasions, not just two cuts with alot of drainage, as the released picture shows. the drainage of blood makes the wound look worse than it is.

in zimmerman's non-emergency 911 call, he stated that martin was a teenager, not just "a couple years younger" than himself.
i hope the police department will also be on trial here for their past actions, and for the way they completely disrespected the body and family of Trayvon Martin.
I am not an apologist for anyone - I am just presenting a rational defense and like Stormguy, and many others, just want a fair trial. Like many on the hypocritical left, you complain that everyone on the right is some kind of Zimmerman apologist, doesn't care about evidence, etc. - when you have already tried and convicted Zimmerman (but in your case it is OK of course).

i think its pretty clear, judging from the way Trayvon was treated by the officers who showed up at the crime scene, that Trayvon would have been found guilty, that no-one would have believed a word he said, and that he would have been found to be the aggressor. he would be in jail.

Comparing the poor in this country to third world countries is not a fair assessment, not apples to apples. Looking to the most vulnerable, the elderly, the highest percentage of the poor...yes, they do receive handouts, social security, SSI, Medicare and Medicaid. Nothing wrong with that. Many collect food stamps, receive low income housing and heating allowance. What's wrong with a country taking care of its elders. Absolutely nothing. It's done in third world countries, and it should and can be done here.

Sorry Suzzette but you are wrong on the war being the largest part of the debt increases. In Bush's largest deficit year FY 2008, the Federal deficit was $455 billion. The wars had been going on for over 5 years and were in fact on budget, not off-budget as many here keep claiming. In FY 2009 Obama's first year the deficit was $1.4 trillion which included $900 billion in additional stimulus spending, which has continued for the last 3 FYs. You can find this data on the Department of Treasury's web site www.fms.treas.gov in the September 2008 and 2009 Monthly Treasury Statement link. And since I know someone will claim its the Bush tax cuts that are responsible CBO has already published data that by eliminating the tax cuts on the highest tax earners the reduxtion on the deficit would only be about $40 billion a year for the next ten years. As I have stated on this blog many times, the huge increases in spending programs during Obama's tenure as well as all of the Bush tax cuts need to be rolled back in order to have a substantial effect on the debt. Not a political statement, just fiscal facts.

Whom, A tax Cut, Any Tax Cut does not add to the debt, spending adds to the debt. A reduction in taxes simply allows the individual that earned that money to keep it. You complain that some peoples income only went up by 18% while others went up 275%. Do you think that the persons who income went down may also complain about those that had an 18% increase? Over the last two weeks, Jindal has virtually decapitated public education in Louisiana with voucher legislation; these vouchers are intended for Christian and "privatized" schools. Grocery store owners and the food industry know that tax money towards State, Federal and Military assistance-connected Food Stamps is not hurting the economy, or their businesses. It appears grocery store owners and food industry workers need to watch out for their jobs and businesses, as well as, for the hungry in their communities, where the Republican House Agricultural Committee’s recently proposed bill cutting Food Stamps is concerned.
The poor, the working and non-working, those collecting assistance or half-collecting assistance, generate billions of dollars in our over 10 trillion cost-of-products-and-services bought and sold across America as consumers, and part of that includes, giving tax money back to the economy through Food Stamps.
Why would the GOP would hope to-burp up budget money after giving that tax money to somebody else, some other group, to something else, or some other businesses or government agenda while collecting the ‘same’ amount of taxes from taxpayers, anyway?
