President Obama statements today about Speculation and investigation will help. I have noticed anytime Corporates feel they are winning against Obama gas prices in our area goes up as much as 10-20 cents over night. This last week with the hatred attacks on Obama and his Favorable ratings going up our gas has gone down 12 cents. Just his statements today has put GOP and OIL companies in a precarious situation, Especially AFTER VOTING agains Buffet Rule Yesterday.. The hate remarks of most GOP politicians State and National are changing minds of Independent and Women I know to not vote GOP in November
I traded in my 2004 Mazda 3 for a 2011 Chevy Cruze. First American car I bought new in my LIFE and why is that? American auto makers finally buildig cars that ahve the quality, mpgs and features of my beloved imports at almost 1/2 the PRICE. My Cruze is an awesome car, fun to drive with its 6 speed transmission and room for a family of 4. It was btwn the Cruze and the Ford Fiesta and I bought the Cruze. This car is doing great in reviews as well. LOVE IT!! Keep it up GM and yes, you're BACK!!!
Hopefuly, the fascists won't RUIN you by forcing us to build gas hogs again or I'll be buyinga a Leaf or Prius next time around. Everyone s/b buying fuel efficent cars if they can and SCREW THE OIL COMPANIES.

On 1/2/09 I was laid off from Experian when my position as a Senior Accountant was relocated to their Santiago , Chile office. No one will hire a 65, almost 66, year old woman.
Like so many I played by the rules. I was not able to attend college until my late thirties. I started taking courses at the local community college to learn data entry because I knew I did not want to be a waitress for the rest of my life. Fortunately, I discovered that I had/have a brain...earned an AA in Business/Accounting and secured a scholarship to pursue a BA at Chapman Univ. I graduated in May of 1987.
The republicans, beginning with Reagan, have destroyed my American dream. I am just marking time...hoping for the end to come ASAP.
Joy , I am so sorry that happen to you. You did all the right things and still got done dirty. I feel like so many in this nation were done dirty. I do have one bright-spot in my life. A year or two before being laid-off my adult son, one of his best friends and I decided to rent/share a house. His buddy flaked on us but we were able to manage until he was laid-off in late 2010...he found a job last June. Instead of moving to a smaller home/apartment we decided to have a boarder/roommate.
The neat thing about my son is that he thinks I am a good/neat mom. We have reversed roles when I am feeling awful about not working he tells me that I always took care of him and now it is his turn to take care of me. And, the nice thing about this house is that it is large enough that each of us, roommate too, have our own space.
So....I would say I am luckier than most.
Joy, You have a wonderful son. You have allot to be thankful for. My kids are the same when someone needs help we are always there for one another. You have many blessings. You took lemons and made lemonade!
Joy, I admire you for all you did in bettering yourself through education. It is tragic when one does all the right things and then the universe points at them and says, "Your turn!" Take this from a life-long Republican who actually has experience working for a living. It’s very simple. Government employees are in affect, on public assistanse, they don’t produce anything usefull.Same goes for “our” so-culled president, who gets housing too.

It is truly horrifying what they are trying to do to this country and how anyone cannot see that is way beyond me. These people in congress have done NOTHING of value and everything to make life harder for the average American. All to take down a president who has done nothing wrong. He has tried so hard to help this country.
The Republicans want to privatize the Post Service because they already have the retirement money there and when it gets privatize who is going to get that money. It will go in salaries of those who manage it. CEOs and stock holders. If I was a postal worker I would cash my retirement account. If they are going to privatize anyways let the fat cats get zilch for them to steal.

Alright troops....Ed has said it all. The post office affects all of us....privatizing it would mean huge increases in the shipping of ALL products. Repubs want to hand this lucrative business over to corporations.
Let's get on this! Please everyone email, call, write your legislators and demand that they stop this burden of pre-paying 5 million dollars every year for retirees that haven't even been born yet.
Tell all your legislators that you support the post office 100% and demand that they get on this pronto before many locations lose their post offices. Let's get this going!
privatizing the usps would drive prices down, the more compatition the more the companies compete and the lower the prices. ask why has stamp price rose since the first stamp come out. and if the usps is so lucrative, why is it so hard to pay for future worker retirement. if they do that now maybe they wont be in the same troubles as the rest of every government run program. and why arent ups and fedex in trouble

The President has eliminated Osama Bin Laden a terrorist who killed over 3,000 of our citizens. And he has gotten us out of a horrid war in Irag and brought home those lucky service men and women who didn't die needlessly for nothing.
The President has put forth the Jobs Act which republicans have denied because they want to deny the President any success. However, we are NOT stupid and we have our eyes wide open.

I personally know some of the type of people you are speaking of, they for some strange reason think that somehow if they agree with the republican propaganda and vote with them that somehow that makes them in the same class with the rich folks. They are terribly afraid that if policies apply to everyone or helps anyone that they have somehow been diminished. It has not dawned on them that ANYONE including them can lose a job or become ill or disabled or worse yet need help to feed themselves and their family. Since these things only happen to THOSE people, they see no good in preserving the safety net. They cannot imagine for a moment that any of these things could happen to them. Some of them just hate the President, not for his policies mind you but just because of who he is. They will deny this to high heaven but if you are quiet and just listen to them talk it is not hard to figure out. I can respect honest disagreement but that is not what is going on.

I think any President earns far more than he/she is compensated. The average night sleep for ANY President has been 4 hrs. Notice how ALL Presidents age much faster. But hell, we know no other President has ever had living quarters and a chef.

AR, There is a big difference between opposing Government mandated provisions in a Health Care Plan and taking away a medical service. I don't know of any one that promoted the abashment of contraception, I am however aware of some that simply didn't believe the Government had the authority to mandate its coverage. If you know of any one proposing the abolishment of contraception please let me know. The fact is 98% of women have used contraception absent of any Government mandate, where was the problem in the first place?
