The DCCC has been sending out red stop sign magnets saying STOP The Republican War on Women. So if the DNC is denying they want to use this as a talking point they do need to coordinate better with their related organizations such as the DCCC.
I checked the complete context of Hilary Rosen’s comment. I don’t think she meant ANY slight to stay at home moms. Replace the word “work” with the word “employed” and there is not controversy.
I am a stay at home mom married to an active duty serviceman. Yes, it is hard work. I have to squeeze every penny but I know I’m fortunate to have a choice. In the context that Hilary Rosen made the comment, she is correct. I have never been both a Mom and dependent on bringing in a salary to provide for my family. I have not been torn by the desire to be home but the economic necessity of working. I have never had to worry about the quality and cost of child care. I have never had to worry about my job providing comprehensive health care benefits nor being uninsured if laid off. I have never had to justify my birth control choices to my boss. I have never faced the sheer panic of an unplanned pregnancy and being unable to even contemplate having another child. I have never had to go thru the humiliating and expensive maze of laws that now limit access to abortion. I have not personally experienced the injustice of making less money because I am a woman but paying more for my health insurance. I have never been attacked and accused of child abuse for being a single mom. Until recently I had not suffered the indignity of being less a person than a zygote.
Emotions are running high with the overwhelming avalanche of previously unimaginable attacks on women. Nerves are raw and I suspect most of us are apt to snap a bit more in this climate. The GOP would like nothing better than to turn this into a wedge between all the grassroots women who have come together to fight back on the very real War on Women. But we are smarter than that. Although the current GOP legislators are forcing us to refight many battles we thought had been won decades ago, we are NOT going to allow them to force us to revisit the debate of stay at home mom vrs the career woman. We have reached a time where women value each other regardless of our life choices. The GOP can’t legislate a change in that! Our collective focus is steadfastly on November!

kinda funny seeing dems knock women who decide to make their kids their #1 priority. as ann is highly educated she could have easily have worked outside the home. if she had dems would blast her for being greedy and taking a job from someone who needs it. any woman having a choice to work outside the home or stay home must consider if they make their kids their #1 priority. if they decide to work outside the home they arent making their kids their #1 priority. how could the kids be their #1 priority as they chose to spend less time with them? plus they are selfish by taking a job someone else really needs it.

I read on Democratic-underground today that Ann Romney's nanny agrees with the statement "she did not work". Interesting.
I am sure Ann was 'busy' with her 5 sons, very much so, however, there is a significant difference in raising children with no budget restraints as opposed to living within a budget.
Does Ann know what it feels like to buy your children shoes and not yourself? Doubt it. Does she know what it is to allow your child to have the "smartphone' while you have a dumb one because you can't afford two smartphones on a payment plan. Does Ann know what it is to buy groceries your child likes the most, while you have to do without items because the grocery money only goes so far? I doubt it. These are the realities of everyday working mothers, and Ann Romney has no idea of the true daily struggles we mothers face with our small, limited budgets. Wonder how many loans she has signed to help her children get a car loan. None, I am sure, because their vehicles are all paid in full at the time of purchase. These points could go on and on and on..................................The Romney's have no apologies for their wealth, I have no apologies for supporting a President that I believe understands the true American experience more accurately.

why should anyone apoligize for wealth? did you think kerry should apoligize for his wealth? should gates or buffet apoligize? i really try to understand different points of view but i cant understand apoligizing for wealth. as for paying for cars in cash, any accountant will tell you its foolish for the wealthy to pay in cash. it makes more sense to lease. ann and mitt in their 1st 2 years in college lived in a 62$ amonth basement apt. they couldnt afford daycare so she took her 1st boy to school with her. they couldnt afford a desk so they put a battered door that they found on the side of a road on 2 sawhorses to use as a desk. they were offered money from their parents but they refused. now i ask you, how many children having wealthy parents would chose to live in poverty for 2 years? so they do know what its like to struggle. by the way, next time you bring up a source could you try to use a unbiased source? lol democrat underground hardly qualifies.

After all, if Mrs. Romney has the right to be a stay-at-home mom, doesn't that mean that any other woman has the right to NOT be a mom at all????

I liked Ann Rommey to point up until today when she did her mommy speech and said lies about President Obama. I have now lost respect for her right along with her lying husband. Ed, Mitt's religion in it's self, if he's a true believer, has a huge respect for their woman but the woman is expected to be subservient in this life and the next. Therefore, woman can not hold the priesthood. The only person that can close the gender gap for him would be the living prophet. The whole point is being overlooked. Mrs Romney can't relate to women struggling with raising a family and working. As she said "I chose to stay at home". Good for her, most of us don't have the luxury of choice, or hired help to raise the children and manage our several mansions!
