I caught part of the pander show speech to the NRA. I fully expected the Romney's to break out in a duet of a song from Annie Get Your Gun. I think Romney should look no further than his wife for a running mate.If you listen to her she's the second coming of Sarah Palin.A thin skinned whiner.
i see theres a scandal involving prostitutes and the obama admin bye bye barry hello mitt
I see there is a trollish re reg making mountains out of ant hills. So can we blame GWB because Haliburton employees in the middle east video taped themselves drinking booze from each others asses? What don't you get unless Obama bought the hookers what the secret service does after work hours is none of Obama's business. FFS why don't you grow up instead of acting like a 10 year old that walked in on his little sisters shower.
as we know the secret service set up meetings with women for jfk. i never said obama used prostitutes. i said theres a scandal involving prostitutes and his admin. there is an investigation underway. by the way its not just the secret service involved as members of the military are involved. as obama is cic this involves his admin. also hillary must become involved in the investigation as this happened in a foreign country. do you think if this happened during the bush admin dems would ignore it? my god dems went ballistic when bush mispronounced a word! whether obama used prostitutes or not will be determined in the investigation. he is innocent until proven guilty. by the way, michele wasnt invited on the trip.
The Big Bad Romney Political Machine vs. Hilary Rosen.
What we have observed from the events of the last two days is just how the Romney hate machine works and that it can be aimed at anyone, at any time, for any faux "outrage" they decide to create with it.
It was a simple three letter word that gave them the gas to twist Hilary's' comments into an oblivion of nonsense.
H...A...D...
The point IS; that Ann Romney has never HAD to work a day in her life.
The other side knew precisely what Hillary was saying, they just didn't want American women to hear what she was saying...because Hillary Rosen is right!
The Republican Party won't admit it, and their candidate, "Millionaire Mitt", certainly will not admit it and now we see that the Mrs." Millionaire Mitt" is more than willing to stand on the precept of outright lies to further her husbands career aspirations.
This is offensive, when we must consider that candidate Romney is putting his wife out there as the presumed "honest and straightforward" expert on his own credibility.
Our President, Mr. Obama, David Axelrod and our Vice President Mr.Biden chose to respond to the false message of "mom haters" put out by the other side, rather than responding to what Hilary Rosen actually said in the first place.
I would think it would be wiser to fight the lies created by the other side, by calling out the liars as well as the propaganda they create, rather than playing their game, on their field with their rules.
if hilary is right why did she apoligize, and why did dems stumble all over themselves, led by obama and biden to condem her obviously stupid comment?
I agree with you ksker. Michelle Obama takes attacks everyday and back in 2008 she was attacked when she spoke for her husband. If Ann Romney is going to be a public speaker she will have the take the bad as well as the good. So Ann Romney better ready if someone responds to what she says publicly negatively. She acted if someone questioned her motherhood but did she understand there are thousands of women that works and take care of their children. It may be that woman want to stay at home but in today's world, it is impossible to do and her husband is going to make it worse for low and middle income citizens. So Hilary Rosen should not have apologized. Michelle Obama handled it in 2008 and as First Lady she handles it everyday with the normal haters.
commie,
do you think repubs are sincere about every apology they put forth? do you think rush limbaugh should have apologized to Sandra Fluke?
repubs agreed with rush limbaugh, including rick santorum and mitt romney. or else they are afraid of him, the leader of the repub party.
both parties do this. sometimes people apologize because it is the right thing to do. i'm sure Hilary wishes she had phrased her thought in regard to ann romney better, but everyone understood/understands what Hilary was trying to say. repubs, mitt and ann want to take advantage of this to try to get women to vote for them.
its a shame it will all be for nothing.
suz you make some good points, rush is a scumbag for saying that about fluke. even though fluke lied to congress about bc costing 1 k a year as it can be bought at walmart walgreens and many other outlets for 9$ a month. notice she hasnt been seen on tv since #1 fox news proved she was lying. i see no reason for her to be sent to prison for lying to congress as shes been humiliated enough by her lying. as for rosens statement means nothing i disagree. she insulted and humiliated millions of women. of course reps will use this against in their campaign. as dems would do if the roles were reversed. even if this changes the mind of 1 or 2% of women in swing states this could easily cost obama the election. obama screwed up bigtime by saying "someone on tv" as she visited the wh 35 times and has 5 meetings with obama. obama acting as if he didnt know her was a bonehead move. but my best was carney saying he knows 3 hilary rosens. bol.even you must admit this is hilarious as it was proven it was the hilary who made the stupid statement that visited the wh. i would venture the average person who follows politics know who hilary rosen is. as in most cases people trying to spin a stupid statement just make it worse. i heard biden is mad at rosen. he says hes the one whos supposed to make stupid statements embarrassing the pres.
Really commie because I follow politics closely and have never heard of hilary rosen before and I'm about certain that you and basically everyone else hasn't either.....so she's hardly famous or well known
Even you think one or two change in the likely women voters numbers will cost obama the election the current polls where he leads by nearly 20% say different. Romney is not going to have a chance unless he cuts that in half and since the right wing talkers will be lucky if they can ride this into next week let alone november he's going to actually have to come up with a real strategy. That's not politics that's just math Karl Rove would probably tell you the same thing...in week or two after he's done trying to campaign on this.
Now you do realize the president meets with thousands of staffers in a given year....I doubt that they are are speaking terms since she's not part of his staff at the white house or his campaign. The GOP of course will try and drum up the fake outrage on this but as if this were the dems they will simply fail. Women I suspect will find the idea that they can use this issue to win them over to be an insult. Do you really think women are going to care more about the comments of one staffer or dozens, or even hundreds of peices of legislation across the country that will impact their reproductive lives....??? The ladies aren't stupid.
Ann Romney has worked a day in her life is about a statement about Ann Romney not millions of women and since the number of women who have had no choice but to work for a wage out numbers those who've not this really will fade in about a week. Ann Romney can pretend to be the surrogate for all stay at home moms but sadly most stay at home moms have not had housekeepers, chefs, maids, etc. so even as a hard working "stay at home mother" she's been quite privelaged.
cyn lol good one, you never heard of hilary rosen , i dont believe you. even if you hadnt heard of her you surely know her now. obama leads romney IN WOMEN NATIONWIDE. which means little as only states that count are the swingstates. obama biggest lead in women are in states he will surely win like calif ny nj wash and others. obama could get 100% of the women votes in these states and it means absolutely nothing. the gap is closer in the swingstates. if just 1 in 50 women change their minds in swingstates cause of rosens stupid remark say hello to president romney. as rosen insulted and humiliated millions of women obama is in bigtime trouble. by the way biden is mad at rosen, he said hes the one whos supposed to make stupid remarks embarrassing the president.
commie,
i had never heard of Hilary Rosen, either, so it doesn't surprise me that Cynical hasn't heard of her. she just made a name for herself from this MANUFACTURED controversy by the repubs. just like the MANUFACTURED debt controversy/crisis.
the repubs normal stance is that poor women who got welfare assistance to stay home and take care of their children IS NOT WORK. their stance is that poor women who stay home to take care of children are not working. their stance is that these poor women ARE GETTING SOMETHING FOR NOTHING isn't it funny that when a rich woman stays home with her kids it is WORK, but when a poor mother wants to stay home with her kids, she is lazy and a slug?
Sandra Fluke did not lie about the cost of birth control. while it is true that you can get contraception at walmart for 9.00 a month, NOT EVERYONE CAN TAKE GENERIC DRUGS. the 9.00 drugs are NOT brand name. they have more side affects, and many women find generic birth control (and other generic drugs) impossible to take. this is why Fluke's friend couldn't afford the birth control needed to save her ovary. i know this to be true, and i also heard Fluke talk about it ON T.V. as usual, fox news didn't care enough about Fluke's position on contraception to find out the truth, or else they knew it and didn't report on it, which is common for fox news. Fluke was NOT LYING to congress.
fox news did not prove Fluke was lying, as usual they only reported the part of the story that MADE FLUKE LOOK LIKE SHE WAS LYING.
and while we are talking about Fluke, lets not forget that rush limbaugh went on and on for 3 hours a day for 3 days (9 hours) calling Sandra a slut and other disrespectful names before he apologized. Rosen apologized immediately.
as i stated to you in another post, do you think Rosen is the only reporter who has visited the white house 35 times, and had meetings with the President? i know this is what hannity reported when he was trying to make Rosen an insider in the Obama white house, when SHE IS NOT. many reporters have visited the white house 35 times OR MORE. many reporters have had meetings with the president. this does not make them insiders of the Obama administration.
the only women that Rosen may have humiliated (as you write above), are rich women like ann romney who have no idea what it is like to struggle to get by. the rest of us understand what Rosen was trying to say.
a reporter? LOL....now that is funny...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hilary_Rosen
I was a cook at a fast food restaurant when I was 16 years old, does that make me a chef?
Well Commie as you may I suspect I don't what you choose to believe. I doubt almost anyone in the country following politics has heard of Rosen before now. As I a person who closely follows politics has never heard her name before this fake outrage train got going. So because she is well known, not a high profile individual because people will have forgetten about this mostly by this time next week and that she does not work for any campaign the right won't be able to ride this into november. As I said before Romney will need a real strategy if he wants to close the gender gap by election day, this won't do it for him.
To say that Ann Romney represents millions of stay at home moms is an insult to stay at home moms. How many of you stay at home moms had maids, and housekeepers, and chefs?
so even as a stay at home mom, she hasn't had it all that hard.......so just sounds like another insult to women and their intelligence
Indepedents my dear commie friend are not easily swayed if Romney is going to win them he needs a real strategy counting on some political deus ex is not quite a strategy
Storm you're right she's not a reporter which makes her even less important
Hilary Rosen is a strategist who works for CNN. she is an employee of CNN, and appears often. i guess i should have put "quotes" around the word "reporter" when referring to her in that way.
she is also a democrat and supports the re-election of President Obama. this is why fox news and the romney campaign and other repubs will continue to LIE about Hilary Rosen by saying that she is an advisor to President Obama, and that visiting the white house MEANS ONLY THAT SHE WENT TO ADVISE THE PRESIDENT (it has yet to be determined if there is more than one Hilary Rosen).
stormguy, i hope you find it just as "funny" that when allen west referred to 78 to 81 democrats in the house as being communists, he refused to apologize, in fact he doubled down on his statement and not one repub denounced what he said. the same is true for rush limbaugh. and why? because the repubs agree with allen west and rush limbaugh.
the repubs will make the most of what Hilary Rosen said. i bet we will hear about this all the way to the election from ann and mitt and any repub who thinks they can improve their chances with women's vote. ann romney said that Rosen's statement was "an early birthday girt, and i loved it". they will hang on to this as long as they need to. it has nothing to do with Rosen not being "high profile". it has to do with, "does the romney campaign have anything else they can use to try to get women to vote for romney". this is a manufactered controversy by the romney campaign.
the romney campaign has to take full advantage of whatever they see as a "gift".
"The Romney Camp Will Keep Calling Hillary Rosen an Obama Advisor Because Shut Up That's Why".
if the roles were reversed would dems take advantage of it? lol in a minute. saying obama didnt know who she is was amusing. she had 5 meetings with him. she was at the wh 35 times. thats more times than gen. petraous. as for west who is a whackjob. if romney had to apoligize for every stupid remark west made he wouldnt have time to campaign. sen. sherrod brown dem from ohio stated reps in congress are nazis. obama was silent. biden was at a meeting where reps in congress were called terrorists. he said nothing andonce again obama was silent. this is a 2 way street. if rosens remark meant nothing why did she apoligize? why did dems led by obama and biden stumble all over themselves to throw rosen under the bus? on a scale of 1to 10 with ten being the worst rosens comment was a 100. obama and biden are seasoned politicians , they knew at once of the consequences of her remark. for rosen to insult and humiliate millions of women it will obviously have consequences now and up to election day. dems are banging reps over the head with a club over the silly war on women. bottom line is rosen by her stupid remark handed the reps a club.
Kind of funny to see the Democratic war on stay-at-home moms. Goes right along with their war on babies.
You're far to stupid for you own good.
and their war on religion.
And the teabagger war on education. Their motto, 'The mind is a terrible thing'.
Their motto "the mind is a terrible thing to....taste" 'cuz college is for snobs
War on religion Mike why is it that when someone opposes theocracy it's a war on religion? How come when righties say religion it only applies to christianity....some forms of christianity remember morons you're not christian they say.....???? What gives????
If the GOP is defending all religion why aren't they helping the muslim community in murfreeboro tn, build a new place for their congregation to worship? Aren't they condemning the hate and vandalism they've faced?
Oh yeah and if secularism is a religion then how can you claim that the dems wnat to promote and have a war on religion....because according to mitt romney secularism is a religion
mike,
it is the repubs who are having a war on babies and women, especially the poor ones. the only babies that the repubs care about are the ones that have not yet been born.
after they leave the womb, according to repubs, they are on their own.
Like I said before 1) if its a rich trophy wife staying at home watching the nanny taking care of her children is work 2) a poor single woman getting food stamps staying at home taking care of her kids is a lazy bitch that needs to learn the work ethics and dignity of working a low wage job. Double standards of the tea bagged nit wits in action.
Hilary Rosen stepped in it big time. And, Ed and his ilk are trying to do damage control. How does it feel to have the tables turned?
Hmmm I don't how does it feel to know the that side you claim has a war on stay at home moms is beating the righties amongst likely female voters by nearly 20 points......feels good
That difference between the right and the left on this issue. When the right wants to claim there's a war it's becaue of the comments of one women and because the right wing talkers have told them to think so. When the left says it it's because of the actions of congressman in state legislatures across the country mandating unnecessary procedures on women because of politics. It's because state republicans in arizona apparently think that it's okay to mandate transvaginal ultrasounds because those women have already consented to being sexually penetrated before. It's because some state republicans out there think women should just close their eyes during the politically mandated ultrasound. It's because the GOP claims to hold personal freedom in highest regard yet thinks it has the right to mandate procedures even if women and their doctors don't want them. It's because the GOP tried to politicize contraception. It's because sadly some republicans out there think that women don't need money like men do so it's okay to pay them less for equal work. It's because they refuse to admit that anything they've done will impact women's reproductive lives.
Texas already passed that extreme ultrasound law quietly last May, thanks to Rick Perry. But Va's Bob McDonnell is the one that got tagged for it because of the protests. Evidently the women of Texas didn't care enough to protest.
They did MJB but only a few. And I'll bet my retirement that you could pick any 1000 people in this city, as ask them if they know perry fixed a deal so one of his campaign contributors could bring in a nuclear waste dump right on top of our water supply and NOT ONE will know it. That kind of news is not reported here in Texas. Think of it as the Fox News state.
Mr. Waste Dump is Harold Simmons, right? Billionaire extraordinaire. The sad thing is, people don't even CARE if they know this stuff until it's too late to do anything about it. I can't believe they will let him put it right over the Ogallala Aquifer.
And from what I understand MJB he's the largest contributor of funds to the teabagger super pac's. Imagine that.
Don't worry everyone the GOP congress people who've invested in that company have told us that "experts" say the aquifer moved so no more danger......chuckle...nothing to worry about.
I'm thankful I don't live there.
Hopefully Obama will fight back......sigh of desperation
Correct CC, a FEW Texas lawmakers hinted they were slightly concerned that the waste dump was within 14 ft of the Ogallala Aquifer so perry sent his boys in to check it and like magic the bounderies were wrong. Rememeber folks, this is how our country will be if the teabaggers ever gain power.
I was just reading a NY Times article where an ex-housekeeper of Ann's parents said Ann came from privilege like Mitt and never had to work a day in her life. According to the article, Mitt is so cheap (he gets this from his father), that he uses KMart golf clubs to play golf. About the only thing he DOES like to spend money on is real estate. And spending money on Ann, whom he adores. It was a pretty insightful article, but I don't know if I could find it again if someone wanted to read it. I came upon it accidentally while looking for something else.
You don't even need any evidence it's undeniably clear that Ann Romney has never needed to earn a wage to support the family at any point. She did choose to stay home but she's always been married to Mitt so it's not like she ever had to.
Just a thought- maybe the Democrats ought to adopt the "Mandatory for women to work outside the home" plank to go along with the mandatory health insurance provision?
You would have the Lily Ledbetter law and the Hilary Rosen Law both!!!!
Now the real observation. I must have chosen the wrong career. Buffett and Obama both have secretaries that pay more in taxes than they do. Both evidently over 20% of their income in taxes. I know what I make, and it came out to what I thought was an outrageous 23%. If their secretaries both make more than that, I've obviously chosen the wrong career path.
Has anyone calculated how much these secretaries must make??? Or is Team Obama talking about HRClinton or Leon Panetta when they say Obama's secretary pays a higher percent than he does? Either Obama is being disingenuous or he dramatically overpays for secretarial services (which means we get the bill)
Mike d in Virginia......Ann Romney will make a great ad for the democrats this fall. She not only said she stayed at home and raised 5 boys she said, " WE HAVE TO RESPECT WOMEN IN ALL THE CHOICES THEY MAKE" All the choices Mikey....you know planned parenthood...right to choose...ect. Mitt and Ann Romney have attended a planned parenthood event, they even donated to planned parenthood...Those two faced rascals are something ain't they mikie? linda virginia
When I commented on Lawrence O'Donnell's site, I said the President should not have apologized for the comment Hilary Rosen made. Then when I heard Richard Wolfe said he should have apologized, I felt so good. I still stand by my comment I made in Lawrence O'Donnell's site, he should not have apologized. Taking my grandkids to school yesterday, one of the radio commentors said it was easy for Ann Romney to be a stay at home mom and raise 5 boys with the help of maids and your husband makes over $221 million but try to raise 5 boys making $20,000 yearly, NOT possible. That mother would have 1 job to please her boss to get that paycheck then the 2nd job is when she gets home is to raise her 5 kids. Depending on the age she will need assistance which you guessed it, Mitt Romney wants to cut and close. Mitt Romney already said he does not care about the low income so that $20,000 a year mom would be up the creek without a paddle. So do I feel sorry for Ann Romney. The answer is NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gladys- the Democrats must make it clear which women they are for and which ones they are against. I agree with that part of your expose.
gladys as you stated rosens remark means nothing why did dems led by obama and biden stumble all over themselves to throw rosen under the bus. these men are seasoned politicians and realized immediatley rosens stupid remark could and probably will cost them the election. romney leads obama in men and obama will need every woman vote he can get. it didnt help when obama acted like he didnt know her. as rosen visited the wh 35 times and had 5 meetings with him. obama looked silly and theres 2 explanations, obama is stupid or hes lying, obama isnt stupid. dems opened this door with the silly rep war on women. as rosen insulted and humiliated millions of women , the door just smacked dems in the face.
Because of people like you. You can't take the heat so Democrats are always trying to make things right but people like you do not want things right. You want to jump on the slighted thing President Obama says and feed on it but let one of you right wing people say the same thing then you have stupid Rush saying something more stupid than the original statement.
Stay calm and focused here, Gladys. Bringing Rush, et al- your way of doing exactly what you are railing against- so let's stay focused upon which women you suggest the Democrats welcome and which ones they kick to the curb. Do you propose doing it the way they propose society at large- the 53% that pay taxes get frowned upon?
You are right Rusty. He got me on my second statement. Won't happen again. Thanks. Will be more careful in the future.
This manufactured rage and intentional misunderstanding of Rosen's comment only goes to show how desperate the republicans are in this race . It's so much easier to stage this indignation of her comment then to defend their stand on women's issue. The world is watching and shaking their colective heads and laughing at the sad and desperate candidate they have to offer to represent their party.
lol- yeah- we wouldn't want to manufacture any rage, now would we? How is the concept of the "War on Women" coming, anyway?
tx and virginia consider forced unnecessary ultrasounds for women seeking abortion
newt gingrich politicises contraception
republicans in az consider similar unnecessary ultrasound laws say a transvaginal ultrasound is fine since the women have already chosen to be sexually penetrated before....so I guess say yes once you lose your right to say no forever ladies
republican governor says women should just close their eyes during the forced unnecessary ultrasound which sounds to me like it would negate the point of the ultrasound in the first place
rick santorum continually discusses evils of contraception and saus he's concerned about women in combat
lisa murkowski votes yes on blunt amendment goes home and gets chewed out by constituents. Now says that those who don't see it as an attack should go home and ask their wives and daughters
liz trotta says stories of female combat heroism are a lie on fox news
republican state official says women don't really need money like men
GOP continues to chant federal money for abortion should be illegal even though it always and currently is in fact illegal, planned parenthood is to spend no tax dollars on abortion
GOP chants about personal freedom but says women don't have right to choose not to have forced ultrasounds
Trivial but worth noting the GOP has very few prominent female leaders that america takes seriously. When you see and think of the Republican congressional leadership it's all white men, this is of course not by choice, it is not on purpose however when the public sees prominent female leaders on the dem side on not the gop congressional side it becomes easier to work a war on women narrative. It's not on purpose but it's not helping either.
Thats all it is Rusty, manufactured rage by the teabaggers because you have nothing, so you people grab on any straw that comes along like a lil girl grabbing for rings on a carousel ride.. And weather you and the rest of your teabaggers 'intellectuals' realize it or not, or choose to just ignore it, there is a war on women by the CONservatives and don't think for a minute women in this country don't see it. Thats why the teabaggers are soiling themselves now, because the morons realized what they had done. Believe it, don't believe it, but come this November you will definitely find out the truth.
Tex- it is manufactured. Same as your side. Interesting article in the Newspaper this morning talking about the Buffett rule. Many liberals who actually think things through are saying it is terrible policy- like an Alternative Minimum Tax II- but that Team Obama has done such a great job manufacturing rage about "fairness" that it will probably be passed. War on women is non-existent. The marketing of it, though, is substantial. Look at CCs comments above. He normally thinks things through, but has grabbed a bunch of elements with little cause and effect aspects and packaged them as a war. To be fair to him, he didn't invent the concept- merely repeating it. I understand that all liberal women see it. I also understand that no other women see it.
In fact- the biggest determinates of women or men having financial success centers upon children and their own education and debt. If women (or men) get a college degree, maintain a living standard within their income at any given time, not have children until marriage, and then stay married- the correlations are huge regardless of working status. High income people who don't show the above attributes struggle financially as well as lower income people. Lower income people who have the above attributes have much better financial status than those who don't.
Interestingly- I sat and listened to a guy cripe about having to pay $7000 in a year for his kids education plus he had to send 27% of his bonus to his ex. I finally told him that he was lucky- I paid about $22,000 last year for my kids college and my spouse got 100% of my bonus (I did get a wood chipper- used of course- out of it). I would suggest that my family's financial status is much more stable than the other guy's, but he is a peer and our income levels are the same. That's what being married to the same person for 35 years, waiting about 10 years to have kids, and both spouses having educations will get. By the way- my wife doesn't think their is a war on women.
Fear not rusty, if the buffet rule dose'nt make it (And what chances do you think the teabaggers will not filibuster it), we can always wait till the bush tax cuts expire the end of this year and the rate goes back to 35%. BY the way, explain how this 'war on women' was manufactured by the Dems. The Teabaggers made the most idiotic move a party can make by alienating the women votes with their insane laws but hey, no one has ever accused the 'baggers to be smart anyway.
excuse me, 39%
If you don't believe this is an attack you need to go home and ask your wives and daughters.
Ultra Communist liberal Senator Lisa Murkowski(R-Alaska)
Of the GOP haven't planned this all together this is just the natural interception of all their different social ideology the root of the problem is that the right refuses to admit that this will affect women. The longer they continue to deny that the longer they will indeed have a gender gap. The dems winning likely female voters by over 15%(a huge margin) over republicans seems like maybe women do perhaps care about these things. They'd not have this problem if they had not gone down the social issues road once again as they promised in 2010
It doesn't matter whether you think it's legitimate or not Rusty but the right is having a sizable gender gap problem you can call that liberal trickery if you want but it seems quite real to me........the longer right denies that all these things have a common thread ie women the longer the problem will be.
All these errors are unforced. Seriously these are all things the GOP has done. Correct?(rhetorical but it's true). These will all have an impact specifically on those with female reproductive organs..correct? Who has forced the GOP to do all these things. Nobody made the republicans pursue all these issues. Perhaps if there was not a large gender gap you'd have some points there but sadly there is?
Why does the GOP continue to make all these moves on social issues yet say the economy is most important
Jeremiah 1:4-5
4 The word of the Lord came to me, saying, 5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
Luke 1:14
When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the baby leaped in her womb (a blob of flesh doesn't leap), and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.
A wonderful, caring and loving couple, are unable to have kids of their own. They adopted this adorable little kid. Everytime I see this little boy, I get an ear-to-ear smile. This little boy might grow up and find the cure to AIDS, cancer, or who knows what plan God has laid out for Sam. Was his mother a rape victim, unwed, high school or college student? I don't know. What I do know is that if his mother had been to selfish and/or lazy to have him, and then give him up; the lives he may be meant to save, would have ended prematurely.
From the secular perspective, abortion is the least regulated of all medical doctors/clinics. Othadontists are held to a stricter standard, and their clinics are more closely regulated than abortion clinics. The wrong doctor, and a woman may not be able to have kids when she decides that she wants to. Women who have abortions are playing Russian Roulette with their reprodutive abilities.
Lastly, going to a drug store or doctors office is quicker, cheaper, and easier on a woman's body, than an elective medical procedure. All medical procedures involve some risk, which is why patients have to sign release forms, before they have the procedure.
Well the GOP is certainly working on that, by that I mena regulations which they believe to be the devil. In certain states you can close an entire clinic down if one of the broom closets are not of acceptable size. So this claim I suspect may not be entirely true but maybe not. However again in certain states the regulations are quite different which is certainly I think unique to this field. There isn't really a national review board for it. But abortions are generally quite safe and certainly don't become safer when its outlawed despite the fact that it will still happen.
The government should stop trying to tell people what to do with their bodies. Which is why I have little personal respect for the "pro-life" and "pro drug war" movements.
Put the country in the hands of former Governor, Mitt Romney, who once supported gun control in his own State, then you have a guy who never will admit he was wrong or right about gun control before leading the country‘s moral standings. The country does not need confused leadership on this issue anymore than the rich need more tax breaks.
For Mitt Romney not to redress the NRA with their failing influence of the Stand your Ground laws across this county at this time, fails a moral leadership of this country. Given the recent embarrassment in Florida’s Law Enforcement management that the NRA has influenced, Mitt Romney’s Campaign could have canceled his appearance at the NRA, or at least, postponed it, giving a silent criticism. Instead, his appearance, without mentioning it, gave silent praise.
Some Republican’s will vote for any Republican Candidate, along with tolerating their vote counting towards any Republican issue, right or wrong, supporting gun manufacturers and gun dealers, as long as the constituents get their tax breaks along with those companies that contribute to the Republican Party. Such as supporting an agenda that encourages everybody to own a gun, including people like George Zimmerman, including people who will never admit they could be wrong and always think they are right.
Do we want people in other countries to think it is O.K. in 2 dozen some odd States of America for someone to shoot anybody they feel threatened of and for that, someone, presumed innocent unless the arresting officers can prove guilt on the spot? Then, leaving it up to the dead victim and his family to prove ‘his or her’ innocence later? These Stand you Ground Law's are an embarrassment to our country.
Must the Democratic Party always gain an embarrassing win from the Republican Party's Nixon-losses? We have so much more to be proud of in this country, and even more to gain.
Let's look at a hard truth for the repubs. Of the last 30 yrs of middle class decline, repubs have been in the WH for 20 yrs - dems for 10. Clinton had 8 of those 10 yrs and left us with a surplus. Obama was left with a huge mess and now our economy is going in the right direction. This begs the question, 'Who has done the best job with the US economy and the middle class?' You cannot run a government like a business! The rich can afford to pay taxes at a rate equal to ours - they'd still be rich! And I'd appreciate traveling decent roads, going across (or under) overpasses that won't collapse, sending my kids to a good public school (I went to one - definitely couldn't afford a private school), sending my kids to college, feeding the poor, healing the sick, taking care of the homeless, veterans, mental cases, orphans, etc, etc, (as Jesus directed). What kind of a country do we want to be? Of the 34 industrialized nations of the world, guess where we stand right now? And it's all because of GREED! (And we also know what Jesus taught about greed!) Taking care of people that need it is not an evil socialism!
Farmer John- is this a cry on your part to lower the Capital Gains tax and allow money from foreign income to flow back into the US at a very low tax, along with a tax increase on all income levels including social security recipients and a recalibration of welfare benefits with tighter limits? That is what Clinton was able to do and how he was able to end with a surplus. And two other elements- tremendous spending on Y2K solutions and a Tech bubble that did burst.
John ;
Over the last 60 years, which party has controlled the House of Representatives all but 16 of those years?
Over the last 60 years, which party has controlled the Senate for all but 16 of those years?
DEMOCRATS!
Isn't it the Democrats who are screaming about how the president can't do anything without the cooperation of the members of Congress?
Who was in charge of both the House of Representatives and the Senate for the two years prior to Obama taking office?
DEMOCRATS!
Oh look its storm and his stupid post that means nothing. Who is the party that has ran up the deficit every time they took the white house, who is the party that crashed the stock market 5 times with there stupid trickle down nonsense. Oh thats right the GOP, great track record tea bagging republican.
Nice try Whom...but the facts are the facts...you guys have been in charge of the purse strings for this country about 65% of the time over the last 60 years and have screwed things up.
the best times we have had as a country were when there was a Democratic president and a Republican controlled HOR and Senate. That is what we need again....
Storm- I get more sense out of whom since I stuck him on "ignore"
And the fact that Clinton increased the tax rate from 35 to 39% for eight years had nothing to do with our surplus, eh Rusty?
Actually- very little. If you read and do some research- you will find Clinton & company had no clue they would get a balanced budget. What shocked them the most was how much they got by reducing the tax on moneys brought back in, and how much growth it allowed- also- when they lowered capital gains, it was an environment that had a lot of people getting stock options and they were able to cash in and pay a small capital gains vs nothing (they weren't selling) before. The other big thing was the huge amount of capital gains brought by the Dot.com bubble. Companies from Enron, World.com, Tyco and many other's long since forgotten were operating on the mantra that it was a "new economy" and the new profits were different than the old profits. NASDAQ over 5000 (and hasn't even come close since- as best measure of Tech Stocks).
The additional revenue from rich people on income tax from 35% to 39% was negligible. Very few people get rich from payroll income...
Poor rusty still getting history lesson from capt entitled.
Rusty relies on his cap gains whom, thats why it's so important to him.
Actually- I rely on working capital. When it dries up- my work tends to get short. That's why it is important to me. In 2008 and 2009, working capital became very scarce. I really don't want that again.
What do you liberal brains think about municipal bonds?
BTW Tex- I do get a kick out of the fact that you are incapable of responding to the facts and opinions of the statements. Much easier to just respond to substantive issues by saying "Rusty avoids the issues"- especially when they are hit head on.
You may be a light thinker- but you are fun.
It is time to weed through the lies and take hold of the truth! The GOPhers are full on with a hope of re-claiming the White House, maintaining control of House, or taking control of the Senate. So, its gut check time America! As many Americans, in fact some republicans, learned in 2010 that the GOPher party has moved so far to the right that its focus has been lost. We need leaders who are ready to lead! The tea party express has already said, they just want a puppet in the White House to rubber stamp the Congress' bills into law (assuming a tea party/GOPher controlled Congress). No one wants that and we don't need that!
This video debunks everything Romney was saying about stay-at-home Moms. Apparently that only works for well-off women, poor women not so much. They have to find their "dignity" in paid work.
