Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, facing a recall election on June 5 for his union-busting legislation, launched an all-out attack in the war on women this week from a crouched position, hiding in the shadows out of public view.
Walker quietly signed a set of contentious GOP bills barring abortion coverage through health insurance exchanges, requiring doctors to consult privately with women seeking abortions and mandating sex education teachers stress abstinence.
If that's not enough, Walker also signed a bill that repeals a law that made it easier for victims of wage discrimination to have their day in court!
The Republican Walker signed the bills yesterday behind closed doors but didn't announce the move until midday today, when his office released a list of dozens of bills he signed over the past two days.
Walker's spokesman, Cullen Werwie, said it was simpler to lump all the bills signed over the two days into one announcement.
Democrats heaped criticism on the governor today, calling the delay in announcing the signings cowardly and the bills bizarre social policy.
"Perhaps he thought that in doing this behind closed doors, with no public notice, before a holiday weekend for many families, his actions would go unnoticed. He was wrong. We will not be silent-- these issues are too important to ignore," Rep. Kelda Helen Roys, D-Madison, said in a statement.
Obviously, it was a classic Friday document dump, an effort to minimize negative news coverage by releasing bad news when fewer reporters (and political opponents) are on duty.
In this case, it was a Good Friday document dump!
Happy Easter Gov. Walker!

Bye = Bye = Walker = WALK !!!!!!!! What A GOMER !!!!!!!! Homeland Terrorist = NAZI-Boyee !!!!
MD, Got all your Easter eggs, lined up......or is that too much to ask of a bird? Chocolate ones?.....So now are they going to secretly pass bills against women's rights as one last blow before he is forced out of office.
walker = What A Weasel !!!!! Hey TM = I Already Ate My Chocolate Eggs = Butt - I Am Thinking About Taking My Shotgun Out To The Woods And Hunting Down Somemore !!!!!!! How Are Your Eggs Doing Today ??????
MD/MI, and Thankful, If the women of Wisconsin do not rise in revolt against this yellow bellied sap sucker now, i will be amazed! He Is absolutely the worst politician to be in office and man is that a long line! He is sure one rotten egg!
Pam - Yep - He Needs To Be Scrambled !!!!!!! I Mean THEY Are ALL Scrambled = Butt - THEY ALL Need To Be Physically Scrambled - Send THEM ALL To GITMO !!!!!!!
MD/MI, We need Scotti to beam them up and scramble there neutrons. Who knows might make them half way decent. You here often as a person there nice people but they sell there soul to the devil or lobbyists when playing politician!
this man and all others like him regardless of party should be locked up and have the key thrown away. they are treating women like slaves. this is not a nation of men and their toys and slaves. I just hate this man and many others like him.
Walker knows his days are numbered so he's pushing through every teabagger bill he can while he can. If the Dems can take over wisconsin's state congress these bills can be done away with along with the rest of scottys fascist laws.
John in Texas, Walker from the get go reminds me of a wanna be dictator. Hitler wanted to leave Germany a scorched earth, and Walker wants to reek havoc on Wisconsin before he is kicked out of office.
scott walker is pissed because of the recall. he'll try to do as much damage as he can before he loses his job.
Yep = TYPICAL tea-baggin'-gop !!!!!!!!!! I Have Seen It Year After Year - Before They Leave Office - Be It Gov. Or Prez. They Toss Wrenches Into The Works - Just For Fun Or Vengeance !!!!!
If Obama is relected, how many is he going to throw in? God help us all.
And the GOP wonders why the dems have been effective in growing and exploiting the gender gap...........here's the problem I suspect as to why they can't see this: Walker probably believes this is just going to be an attack on organized labor which the teavangelicals love so they are just jumping ot do it for that reason and haven't exactly considered how this works for women
likely because there are not a significant number of influential female policy makers, they think they are just going after labor which they love they don't know they are actually potentiallly attacking women as well
At least a portion of the Republican party is fixed on creating a nation of church going “model” families – based apparently on Leave it to Beaver. Stay at home mom, three kids, dog, a old grumpy neighbor with a heart of gold – and wait – here comes daddy. To make this work, you need to be sure that divorce is almost impossible and that it is financially more feasible for the woman to stay home rather than pay for child care. If you further convince families that the public school system is controlled by communist tree worshiping Druids (please – I’m not implying that all Druids are communists) then the options for education are church schools or home schooling. Home schooling saves the family money, if the mother stays at home. If women’s salaries are depressed, it makes it easier for them to rationalize staying at home.
So it’s not so much a “war on women” as a war on anything that does not lead or contribute to the desired “model” family. Divorce, homosexuality, unmarried couples using contraception, single moms, over educated – over paid – overly ambitious – feminist leaning women – these do not contribute to the model family.
Can I prove it –no. Can I find support for the general idea –yes.

A = YEP = Its Their Way Or The Highway And There Is NO OTHER WAY !!!!!!!!! According To THEM !!!!! tea-baggin-gop TRASH !!!!!!!!
Adam, Welcome to the blog. You brought up some very good points. The GOP utopia. They want to create there perfect world. Only the top 1% need apply. They have absolutely waged war on middle America and you would have to be in a cave to not see it happening right in front of your eyes.
Druids, haha, Franklin Graham was right there is a muslim connection!
Adam: spot on! They actually believe in the garbage they spew and rationalize it via religion and "honoring tradition". Alone, those things can be good things, but they hijack them and try to monopolize them, therefore rendering the Left as evil. This is how they brainwash those that will vote against their own best interest.
The GOP keeps showing its arrogances against the people with their evil ways!
XXX OOO, We have twins! You and Md have same Avatar. Help me out here. We have eagle as our symbol of freedom but in Nazi Germany they had the eagle turned to right or left for war eagle? Need some trivia here!
The eagle is inspired by the legion standards used by the romans like most nazi affliliated symbolism is not germanic in origin
I don't think we need we need to worry about Obama beating Mitt as much as we do about losing seats in Congress.
X, You are right about that. I think only way Mitt would beat Obama if Its bought and payed for him and we have another election like Florida was for Bush. Notice how they have put all there backing behind him. I am sick of him and the GOP saying there's no war on Women. They are as dishonest as a politician can be. Bad Apples for sure!
Worry about the state elections - I'm always a broken record - but much of the recent state legislation is about establishing state rights over the Bill of Rights.
Really no war on women well tell that to the 21k plus women that will be protesting on April 28th all over this Country, unitewomen.org
Walker is really adroit. He had to sign these bills behind is back because of the stench these bill gave off.
Walker is a low life coward not deserving to be Governor. The sooner we vote him and all his kind out the better....
If I didn't think Walker and the rest of the Republican governors - not to mention candidates for federal office - were stupid, I might believe they were secretly planted by the Democrats to be so bad that the Dems would sweep back to office in 2012.
I dont think you could find a democrat that could be that bad...
Gutless wonder
Scott Walker is a slimey douchebag
wisconsin votes are whats needed to end this walker regime.vote bring your family and friends with you to the polls. he passes a bill allowing discrimination pay on woman i will vote against him.
It's nice to see someone stands up for family values, thanks Scott! Most folks can see government unions are inherently evil. Why do you guys advocate an adversarial relationship between taxpayers and public employees? Just askin"
Capt. don't you need to get busy dying your eggs black and painting bulls eyes on them.
The reason Walker thinks he can get away with all this war on everything is because he knows he has all this big money behind him. Like the guy that is dumping all that atomic waste in Texas. Seen on Rachels show tonight... This waste dump sets right over the underground water that feeds 3 or 4 states. This deal was one of Rick Perrys deals . This guy thats dumping all the waste hates President Obama and is giving millions to the republicans to try to defeat the President . This way he can own this contry. We have got to stop all this or we better plan on moving to Canada.....
The Wisconsin Alliance for Women's Health (WAWH) is expressing extreme disappointment that without full public knowledge, Governor Walker actively signed four bills into law that undermine Wisconsin women's health, safety and economic security yesterday.
SB 306 / Wisconsin Act 217: Legislation that is unnecessary and that interferes with patient-doctor relationship and that was widely opposed by the medical community.
SB 237 / Wisconsin Act 216: Legislation that would repeal Wisconsin's Healthy Youth Act and that would allow schools to deny medically accurate, evidence based human growth and development education to our young people.
SB 92 / Wisconsin Act 218: Unnecessary legislation that further restricts the accessibility of abortion coverage in a state exchange, where the use of public funding for abortion coverage is already sharply restricted under the Affordable Care Act. This bill would restrict the use of women's own private premium dollars to purchase the health coverage they need.
SB 202 / Wisconsin Act 219: Repeals Wisconsin Pay Equity Enforcement Law and ends accountability for such pernicious discrimination and grants employers the liberty to deny women to receive the same salary as men.
"Governor Walker and the majority in our State Legislature understand just how unpopular these bills against women's health are," said Sara Finger, WAWH Executive Director. "It's not surprising that Walker privately signed these bills into law and hid news of their enactments from public view."
Just this week, Governor Walker very publicly signed other bills into law in such venues as Lambeau Field. Yet important bills that undermine a woman's ability to achieve her optimal health, well-being and economic security were signed into law with no media present.
"We are committed to shedding light on the actions of our legislative leaders this past session and to ensuring voters are educated when going to the polling booths this year," added Finger. "Women deserve to know how their elected leaders are failing to represent them and their health needs.
He has to be the most miserable Gov. ever. What does he hope to achieve?
Nope, don't forget Rick Scott or Nikki Haley. Scott is actually the most unpopular governor in the country.
Whatever David Kock wants him to after all he is the Koch brother's "first domino"
Scott Walker: "Women? I don't care about no steenkeeng women!"
This is great. Now Walker may have lost some more voters for his recall. Keep it up and Wisconsin will have a new Governor.
I swear the GOP is hoping for riots! But all they are gonna get is a boot in the ass.
Suffice it to say…It looks like the former Governor of Wisconsin learned all his "secret tactics" from those famous uncles of his David and Charles Koch.
It is obvious that Scott Walker in on a rampage backlash of hate and resentment, now that his recall is down to the wire.
However, I would think, that there are more than a few people who are keeping a close eye on little "Scottie" while he is enjoying his last few days in office.
I would guess they are "making a list and checking it twice" in order to give themselves the early Christmas gift of repealing all the bogus "legislating" that he and his party of "ALEC" hooligans have cuffed onto the good citizens of Wisconsin.
I don't know how I came upon this site , but in reading your comments ,who are you talking to besides yourselfs,It's seems like the same set of Haters are on the comments section all day long, Do any you wacko's have a job out there, and pay taxes .the normal people of Wi just don't want knuckleheads like yourselfs telling them ,they have to waste there money on fools like you, So remember ,Have a nice day!!!!!!
First of all.....i just want to thank MSNBC for giving me so many options just to make a comment on their website......by forcing me to disclose personal info that i don't want them to have........hats off to u guys.......secondly.....I just want to thank the media, including MSNBC for letting the citizen united case go under the radar......now elections can be bought by the highest bidder (any filthy rich corporation) instead of by the people for the people.......as for some reason (actually, i know the reason, its because MSNBC is just a huge corporation itself which is benefiting from the decision) nobody in the media seems to criticize the Supreme Court's decision in a way which focuses any attention on the story......how about asking the typical citizen and bringing them on the show to talk about the decision.....instead of having your commemtators pretend to be upset by the Court's decision (oh, that's right, because objective views such as those coming from the typical citizen might give the story the legs it needs to remain a big story........speaking of legs....how does such a big story (IN A DEMOCRATIC GOVERMENT, THE HIGHEST COURT IN THAT GOVERNMENT ALLOWING CORPORATION TO BUY PRESIDENCIES FROM CITIZENS)......end up being just a blur in the media coverage again....i think we all know the answer to that one.
hi, just checking if my post works
