The parents of Trayvon Martin today defended their son and decried reports that offered contrary accounts of the confrontation that left the unarmed black teenager dead.
"Even in death, they are still disrespecting my son," said Trayvon's father, Tracy Martin, "and I feel that is a shame."
The Orlando Sentinel had reported that the shooter, neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman, had been attacked by Trayvon. And the Associated Press reports that Trayvon had been suspended from school because of an empty plastic baggie found in his book bag which tested positive for traces of marijuana.
"They've killed my son, and now they're trying to kill his reputation," said Trayvon's mother, Sybrina Fulton.

Mr. Zimmerman's "friend" is not doing a good job lying for him. He claims that in the 911 Zimmerman used the word "goon" (derogatory for "thug") or "coon" (derogatory for the "n" word). This "friend" says that his 17 year old daughter told him that "goon" is now used as an "endearing term". Well, based on this alone, it is reasonable to opine that Mr. Zimmerman's "friend" is the real "goon". I mean this in the most "endearing" way.

All you need to know about this case is that that young man lay dead for three days and no one tried to find out who he was or whether his parents just MIGHT be wondering what happened to him. I don't think that this attempt to smear Trayvon Martin is reputation will help the child-murderer George Zimmerman at all. It will make it even worst by people so angry that some will want to take justice in their own hands.
I hope that there is still justice in this country and that George Zimmerman will be brought to justice and punished. Otherwise, I'm afraid that what happened after the acquittal of the cops in the case of Rodney King will be ridiculously small compare to what will happen to the state of Florida.

Sorry but what the teen did or didn't do has nothing to do with the fact that he was a victim of a crime. Zimmerman reported him to 911 and if he would have let the police do their job Martin would still be alive. When Zimmerman continued to follow then chase the teen Zimmerman became the instigator, he caused the events that lead to the death of Martin, that is what Zimmerman is guilty of so far. He had no right to confront the youth nor question the youth, only police can do that, Zimmerman is not police nor is neighborhood watch deputized police officers, they are private citizens who call police and let them know of suspicious people that is the end of their involvement in the matter.

The police video doesn't show any visible signs of injuries to Zimmerman. Why did the police elect not to use gloves at that point? Was anything part of evidence or was the decision already made that he wouldn't be held?
Why did he wait until the next day to go to the doctor as the police said? Was this also something that made the police story more credible?
