Mitt Romney won the Illinois Republican primary with some ease on tonight, allowing him to likely add at his advantage over his rivals in the tally of delegates needed to secure the party's presidential nomination.
NBC News projected that Romney had won the contest less than an hour after polls closed.
The primary had offered Republicans maybe their best chance yet of a genuine one-on-one battle between the former Massachusetts governor and Santorum, his chief competitor for the Republican nod.

Mitt hopefully will have a BIG challenge from women because of the nasty things he said about women's health last night in Illinois. It provides some meat for the Obama Campaign to fight back with. Maybe once Mitt and several of the other GOP/Tea Party people are defeated in November, civility will return. I believe that that is what many people want and need. Also, we need to then focus on jobs and improving the economy. Giving more tax breaks to the wealthy will NOT help. All it will do is increase the wealth gap between the 1% and the rest of the population. The GOP/Tea party have stepped way over the line and needs to be reigned in before the libertarian ideology becomes the law of the land.
