The Obama-Biden 2012 re-election campaign kicks into high gear with the middle/working class as the central focus.
In his first major foray of the 2012 campaign, Vice President Joe Biden today told a union audience at a United Auto Workers hall in Toledo that Republicans who opposed the auto bailout were "dead wrong."
Biden said the willingness of GOP presidential candidates Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich to let Detroit go belly-up shows the bankruptcy of their economic theories.
"If you give any one of these guys the keys to the White House," the vice president declared, "they will bankrupt the middle class again."
Meantime, President Obama headed out to Largo, Maryland, where he mocked the GOP candidates for resisting development of alternative energy sources during a campaign-style rally at Prince George's Community College.

At one point, Obama ridiculed Gingrich's campaign promise to reduce the price of gas to $2.50 a gallon if he won the White House, calling it just a "cute bumper-sticker line."
"They start acting like we've got a magic wand and we will give you cheap gas forever if you just elect us,'' Obama said.

Concerning GM, are you aware that with the Tax Payers still on the hook for tens of millions GM just spent 400 Million in France to bailout Peugeot? Obama's auto bailout is now supporting foreign auto manufacturers. How exactly does this help our economy or for that matter benefit the Tax Payer?
Which alternative power currently available is capable of fueling the millions of semi tractors and trailers that move the nation's cargo, deliver our food, clothing, building materials, electronics, our products?
Which alternative fuel is currently available to power our aircraft , our ships, or our trains?
Which alternative fuel is availible to power our industry? How many solar panels do you think it would take to provide power for a steel mill or an aircraft plant?
I think you are right to say these alternative fuels are our future, but the future is not now, it is not today. Perhaps in twenty, thirty, or fifty years techknowledge will provide affordable and reliable alternatives to oil.

In the 1990 Texas gubernatorial race between Ann Richards and Republican Clayton Williams Jr., Texas A&M graduate and oilman Williams compared rape of a woman to bad weather, quipping "if it's inevitable, just relax and enjoy it."
Ann Richards went on to win the Texas governorship, just barely, but I thought it was interesting that former Governor Ann Richards' time in office was sandwiched between two Texas A&M graduates running against her, both oilmen, both who got degrees at A&M in animal husbandry, both probably while going to A&M running over to the Chicken Ranch in La Grange for some frolicking with the ladies there, Clayton Williams Jr. and George W. Bush.
And the Wikipedia page on Clayton Williams Jr. reports that a controversy arose during John McCain's run for the presidency in 2008, which Williams helped raise money for, after Williams rape-comparison-to-bad-weather comment came up again. McCain refused to turn down the money Williams had already raised. And apparently Texas oilman Clayton "enjoy being raped" Williams is still kicking around, just like the Koch brothers who are about the same age.
With all the controversy today over the Republican Party's War on Women, forcing American women to submit to unwanted, unnecessary INTRUSIVE probes and invasions of an American woman's right to privacy, Clayton Williams Jr.'s misogynist and highly disturbing 1990 quip is just another sign of the Republican attitude toward American women, like Rush Limbaugh calling American women using contraceptives a bunch of sluts and prostitutes.

Let's see- the bailouts meant several GM lines were eliminated (Saturn and Hummer come to mind in the US), lots of dealerships were forced to close, 2 of the principles went bankrupt and then emerged after shunning and restructuring debt, contracts with the major unions re-done in order to reduce legacy costs of past poor contracts, quite a bit of other stuff.
And the Dems complain about Romney's businesses and Walker in Wisconsin- lol- does anyone else find this amusing in a hypocritical way? Can't wait for these lines of thought to be developed when Obama rolls out his campaign fully.

Since 2008 oil demand has gone down everywhere yet during all this time oil prices have climbed. Many on Wall Street have just been using excuse after excuse to keep our oil prices high. It's all about greed by Wall Street & by many in that cesspool we call congress.

No demand for oil since 2008. Yet during the last 3 years oil just keeps climbing when it should of been falling. The Greed of Wall Street is and always will be the reason why oil prices will never come down. The SEC need's to get their hands out of their pockets and get to work on investigating those who are driving up oil prices. It's bad enough we have a do-nothing congress that is more concerned with winning back the White House. But now it look's as if the SEC is know better then our congress.
