After advertisers abandoned his radio show, Limbaugh issued a verbal mea culpa saying he shouldn't have called law student Sandra Fluke a 'slut.' NBC's Anne Thompson reports.
Rush Limbaugh issues an apology but Sandra Fluke, the woman he victimized, isn’t buying it. And more advertisers head for the exists.
Terry O’Neill, President of The National Organization for Women will analyze and react to Limbaugh's weak attempt at an apology. And Krystal Ball, Democratic Strategist and former candidate for U.S. Congress, will have the latest on the boycott.
The GOP presidential candidates stand up to Iran but can't stand up to Rush Limbaugh? We’ll ask Joan Walsh, Salon’s Editor at Large, and MSNBC Political Analyst Richard Wolffe.
And, you won’t want to miss Ed’s commentary on the difference between a real apology and Rush’s apology.
Both Democratic and Republican governors requested federal disaster relief after devastating tornados, but not Tea Party Governor John Kasich (R-OH). Is he playing politics? Ed will ask Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH).
In South Carolina, people who have had sex before they're married or have ever watched pornography are banned from running for office as a Republican.
And in the Big Finish tonight, the Republican establishment is rallying around Mitt Romney just in time for tomorrow’s Super Tuesday presidential primaries and caucuses. Ed’ll get the latest on the race from Howard Fineman, NBC News Political Analyst and Editorial Director of the Huffington Post Media Group, and John Nichols, Washington Correspondent of The Nation.

Just heard on my local news that willard will probably be the gop candidate. It will be comical to watch him debate Obama. I will love to see Obama struggling to hold back the snickering......I know it will give me a giggle.
Never underestimate the power of money... Willard is a fraud, but money is also a great coverup!
Never underestimate the power of slick politicians... Nearly all of them are frauds, the useful idiots will unfailingly toe the line with their blinders on!
Only three candidates have a chance to beat Obama in November, Premium Regular & Unleaded!
xxx ooo, in an election year, especially with a Dem in the white house, expect those prices to remain high. Remember when Bush's term was ending and gas was 1.80 a gallon? Just a coincidence maybe?
@ John in Texas-3114519
US average Gas price:
$4.12 June 08
$3.80 Sept 08
$1.80 Nov 08
-from gasbuddy.com
Put it in context please. The 30 cent drop to Sept accounts for the post summer down turn in demand.
What accounts for the $2.00 drop to November. That is really weird economic science during Bushes watch isn't it? I don't know, Was Bush trying an "October surprise" for the benefit of McCain? Or was something more spurious. A $2.00 drop in two months is a miracle. Pretty volatile isn't it.
The truth-
Remember this drop in gas prices coincided with the collapse of Wall Street. The speculators were like rats running from a sinking ship. Today, gas prices are the result of reckless speculation and the failure of a Republican House to develop regulations to harness in this destructive practice. Got nothing to do with the President.
and yet if Clinton paid attention to oil refinieries and drilling on his watch...the benefits from that would be happening right about this time
Jake, yes the meltdown was a factor but a two dollar drop in two months right before the election sounds kinda fishy. I didn't mean bush had anything to do with it, after all which party is the most 'friendly' to big oil supporting billions in corporate welfare? Maybe big oil and wall street was just protecting their best interest.
Romney will be the nominee no matter what it seems that no one else has the ability to beat him, none of the four candidates are the strongest against Obama so if the party is talking about that now they are...well..late. GOP now you want the best candidate for the general...well you had that....first Jon, last name Huntsman aka the perfect candidate you refused to pay attention to......so you had that candidate and now he is gone. Too late.
The presidency.....the nation's highest office...these are campaigns of teh 2012 Republican party on a bold mission to go farther right than any candidate has gone before.
Luckily they have an infinite supply of big oil, wallstreet, vulture industrialist money flowing in. This is why they are passing outlandish voter suppression laws because they correctly foresaw that they did not have the candidates to argue their points intelligently and successfully.
Now on the South Carolina GOP pledge I wonder if these people realize that what they are trying to do is unconstitutional in nature...it's a shame that the people accept this ludicrous idea that there should be some christian religious tests for public office. It's not a great day in South Carolina.....unless you're Nikki Haley and you take public funds to go a vacation......
Very good Lucci
Lucci---isn't that something? They ARE all afraid of Limbaugh. the GOP runners had better realize that other countries listen to our broadcasts, and the threats they are tossing out, could be dangerous....which shows that NONE of them are qualified to be president! and you are right on as far as Bain/Mitt/Rush connection! How a blowhard like Limbaugh can have so many followers and get paid soooo much for his bad mouth shows the odd priorites this country has. Well the righties have...not too many lefties listen I am sure. I also wonder how those that are running for Pres. with their phoney churchy praises can get away with not thinking what Limbaugh said is garbage talk and WRONG is beyond me. every woman in the United States should either vote Obama (yes!) or not vote at all.
Amazing how Rush uses Viagra and the video says he was caught at the airport with "some one else's prescription"... And that's covered by insurance, but birth control is not and tons of women use that for legit medical reasons unrelated to the prevention of a pregnancy.
Rush is either an ignorant or just bigoted, either way, he needs to go away!
Far far away.....Like the first man on Mars, maybe?!
All this bally hoo about contraceptives, and you are right...Viagra's approved....to possibly MAKE babies that women DON'T want to make, so they take contraceptives! It's kind of like our political system right now, a vicious cycle. and btw...Rush is totally ignorant on contraceptives. He said that Ms Fluke needed sooo many pills because she was sooo sexually active, as tho the more sex you have the more pills you need. I'll bet he would have been waiting impatiently for those "sex tapes" he requested from her. and to think the righties almost defend his disgusting sense of humor and call him an entertainer. PIG!
"apology" not accepted. what he said is an insult to ANY woman. there was no sincerity. the gop candidates by there comments are condoning, in my opinion, this deplorable behavior. Clear channel is apparantly standing behind him. I have stopped listened to clear channel. am thrilled that some (should be ALL) of his sponsers have pulled out. There is no place on any network for such vile hatred and bigotry--rush should be taken off the air but wait the all mighty dollar rules for clear channel. pitiful. I hope Ms Fluke takes one of the lawyers offering to represent her probono to sue this monster for slander, character assasination and any other charges they can come up with.
I agree 100%. He should never be allowed to open his fat lying mouth. The
morons who listen to his show must have the brains of dung beetles.
I totally agree with you Kathy and Jari K! You are so right that money talks, and BS walks...and Rush (HE is the BS) will walk right on over and pick up another fat check for his "entertainment" show. Disgusting!
Hey, I got a suggestion for a new advertiser for Rush.........Reynolds Wrap! His listeners are the ones that make tin foil hats a fashion statement!
Lets check the score board..... 9 sponsors, 2 radio stations etc. I'd say one more strike and the fatman will be standing in the unemployment line! ha ha! Oh and Hannnity, Bortz..... pay attention because you'll be the next ones sent to the unemployment line!
9 Sponsors?? The last count on television tonight was 45 sponsors!
Rush is a disgusting excuse for a human being. He has no idea how to make an appoligy to begin with. So what makes you think he is going to give one.??? The Republicans and their candidates are a bunch of spineless, ballless whimps. When it comes to Rush and any one on the TV, Radio, and the media in general. We should tell all of Rushes sponsors that if they like being in business, Then Drop Rush. Or we will Drop You.!!!
What is it with Republican men and their hatred and contempt for women? They want to control their right to birth control, and their right to an abortion (which is their personal choice), and yet every time we see a group of people voicing their opinions against women it a bunch of pale white men. And now we find out that Santorum's wife dated an abortion doctor, but now she's seen the light! Wow, if you wrote this stuff in a fiction novel they wouldn't believe it.
Hey Zippy...I don't care hOW MANY babies you kill, or many times you blow your buddy in the backseat of your Volt....I just don't want to pay for it, got it???
Reminder "Ed Schultz Calls Radio Host Laura Ingraham A ‘Right Wing Slut’"
Reminder Ed Schultz apologized to Laura Ingraham and took one week suspension.
Newsflash Rush Limbaugh calls college student "slut" and "prostitute", goes on next day calls student "slut" and "prostitute", day after that calls same student "slut" and "prostitute"
Update Rush apologizes for using words "slut" and "prostitute" but still contends he is right about testimony in question
Update CC
Monday he continues to slander and attack.
Remember in the Bible there are scores of occasions were so called religious people are called whores, harlots, and prostitutes for worshipping false gods. Comparing Ed Shultz comment about a talk show host's political slut (trash) talk to the drugster's perverse misogynist and libelous use of the word to describe someone's sexual behaviour is like comparing a cream pie to an atom bomb! Get real!
REMINDER: ED is the slut of MSNBC, and Rush owns his own company. Don't hold your breath waiting for a suspension.... Hmmmmm, on second thought, DO hold your breath....start right now.
Just came across this update on Think Progress:
Very insightful, thanks for that
AT LAST! A lib with something smart to say!...
We have too many white men who have problems with women and African Americans...Trump, Gingrich, Saintorum, and our bully boy, chubby Rush...his third wife should grab as much money$$ and run (unless she married him for his money...well, poor dear. I have to ask other white men to give some help to other white brothers....so to speak and help them...for some reason, their wives are not helping them...hmmmm The Ugly American is back...Rush, Gingrich, Saintorum and Trump...Ugly and so depressing. Uppity women unite now...Rush needs to take time to lost weight and enjoy his third wife...why sex tapes...The whole world is watching these white boys who say they/ we are Number One...sad, depressing and embarassing to everyone.
I am amazed at how many black people are racist towards hispanics. Why is that?
and asians but black are about as american as it gets next to native americans becuase unlike everyother race/ethnicits they can't tell you where they are from. they can't say i'm Irish or German, Mexican ,Cuban or anything else. Africa do you understand how many countries are in Africa.
Gosh that's news to me and I'm black! Just a note saying that not giving free amnesty to illegals is akin to depriving them of the civil rights, like those denied to African americans for decades is not racist. Saying the illegals should register, pass tests and pay back tax fees before being given any sort of legal status makes one rationale not a bigot.
the more republicans and the religiuos right talk the more the sound like the muslims they love to hate
nobody is listening they always talk about the good ol' days bet you didn't think they meant taking away birth control, whats next right to vote or scarlet letters.
No river...we just want to sew up everybody's vaginas. You truly are a stupid wretch. I don't care WHAT you do, the issue here, which has been so cleverly hidden, is that I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR YOUR CHOICES!!! that's it.
Just came across this update on Think Progress but this site won't let me link it. Georgetown law school student government resolution calls for birth control coverage for students. Seems that Georgetown covers contraception for staff and teachers - just not for students. And this is about a religious objection? I think not.
Here's the link
Think Progress
Just like I've said in the past the Catholic Church already covers birth control for many folks and has done so for some time. So I guess this means Georgetown is violating its own conscience....don't know how that happens.......
Religious Objection, GOP? Really because when the Catholic Church was paying off the families of children who were molested by priests who the church despite having numerous warnings did nothing but move them around.....allowing them to molest more children.......to the tune of millions of dollars they were virtually silent. The church willingly chose to do that in addition to forcing those victims to agree to never speak about their molestation in court so that the church wouldn't be hit for racketeering was this much public outrage. Glad to see the Catholic beaucracy has its priorities straight....things that prevent children (outrage)....molesting children (silence)....hmmm.....
Exactly CC
great, Cynical, your first point post 16.2.
ALL THE PRIESTS IN THE CATHOLIC CHURCH COMBINED....have molested less boys than Barney Frank. Oh, and they NEVER grew pot in their house...OH and they never ran a prostitution ring out of their house, either. Have a great day!
Ed is killing me tonight...making him looking better than Rush. He is stumbling over his own words.
LOL
yeah, ed is the problem. if the republican party weren't so hypocritical...ed would have no reason to point out all of the GOP'S SHORT COMINGS. war on women being one, a women doesn't have sex alone....let's see, there are a few more things...can you name just a few? (not all, there's too many to list) i can and i'll bet the American People can too.
When Limbaugh and his clones essentially took over the AM dial, I stopped listening. There are very good shows on NPR on our local public radio stations. I only listen to them. There is no right-wing or left wing talk shows on FM in my area. KCUR, a public radio station gets the best ratings in this area. Right wing radio has its devoted followers and they all tend to be total idiots.
We didnt "take over the dial".... The free market dictated that people wanted to hear something other than liberal NPR Bull-pucky. You won't admit this, but: do you realize that EVERY SINGLE host on MSNBC is a failed talk-radio host??? The only time libs succeed at talk radio, is when the government subsidizes it (NPR). Just like real life, the conservative radio hosts survive WITHOUT handouts. Have a nice day!
Gene,
" Right wing radio has its devoted followers and they all tend to be total idiots."
#18.1 shows up.
LOL as if you Que it up.
Has anyone taken the time to consider that Rush Limbaugh knew exactly what he was doing? He's not a stupid man, he does his research on subjects, you can't tell me he didn't read the transcript of Sandra Fluke's testimony. He's in his 60's and married 4 times you can't tell me he doesn't know how birth control pills work. My opinion is that he saw Sandra Fluke and the egomanical sexist that he is though he could get away with verbally assaulting her. What he didn't count on was some how Sandra Fluke would transform herself into a cult hero. She's strong, out spoken, and has conviction in her beliefs, for a private citizen, she has handled the ensuing media assault with the diginity to which all persons should aspire.
Regarding the excellent Joan Walsh segment, Ed, not only did Rick Santorum give Rush Limbaugh a pass, calling Limbaugh an "entertainer," but Rick Santorum also said that all women using contraceptives are committing a "grievous moral wrong." Translation per Catholic-speak: all women using contraceptives are committing a Mortal Sin, and per Catholic doctrine anyone committing a Mortal Sin goes to hell.
IOW, not a single Republican has yet said that they disagree with Rush Limbaugh calling all American women using contraceptives a bunch of sluts and prostitutes, with Rick Santorum even throwing in his two cents, saying that they are also all going to hell.
Democratic Party candidates this year have a perfect campaign ad available from all this, one incorporating footage from Limbaugh's program, if they so choose.
Seen this on Think Progress earlier. think you can get behind this station.
HAWAII RADIO STATION DROPS LIMBAUGH | In a press release from New West Broadcasting, KPUA AM 670 in Hilo, Hawaii announced that it isimmediately discontinuing the Rush Limbaugh program.
http://thinkprogress.org/media/2012/03/05/438209/hawaii-radio-affiliate-drops-limbaugh/
great news, Pilot!
Ed doesn't like Rush because in the 90's Ed was a Republican and tried to get his own radio show. He couldn't compete so he switched to the Dem Party and tried to be like Rush on the left and it worked for him. They are both from the same mold.
Liberals skillfully turned an attack on religious freedom into one of birth control but the truth will ultimately been found in the Supreme Court when they squash Obama's over reaching mandates. As to Limbaugh he is no more offensive than Bill Maher who says equally bad things and then gives One Million Dollars to Obama - his own attempt at prostitution.
You're just jealous because the conservative ploy of turning the campaign from the ever bettering economy, to social issues back fired on you.
Right wing trolls invade discussion boards trying to sell previously debunked facts. One of your favorite justices Antonin Scallia had this to say on faith "not everything you disagree with violates your religious liberty". I eagerly await this issue to reach the Supreme Court because when it is shown that the church already pays for these services for its employees like at Georgetown for instance the challenge will be laughed out of court. No matter how many justices you buy that case will never reach the court or win.
On Maher quick question was he made an "honorary member of congress" after helping campaign to get some many of them elected? Does Maher frequently talk to or attend meeting with influential politicians? Is Bill Maher frequently discussed as an influential individual in american politics? How many people are Bill Maher fans and how many are Limbaugh fans?
Has Bill Maher been shown to "whore around" aka sleep with women who are not his wife of which Rush is on his forth?
Obama loses in November who is clearly the same person as Obama is a failed President and likely numerous other previously banned accounts is a great example of the far right's attempt to play all criticism as persecution of conservatives. While they claim that they liberals lazily play gender or race cards they often employ the political conspiracy against conservative angle quite often as a way of deflecting attacks on statements which common sense shows are foolish or uncalled for.
Were Rush Limbaugh on Sirius or some other subscription based radio as Maher is with HBO perhaps this would be correct but no one's statements excuse the poor statements of anyone else...ever.
Nice try. If rush was on satellite, WE would pay for it. Because he's in such demand, we let SPONSORS pay for it. BTW: if Rush was on his "forth" wife, then I would say: Tally-h0, brother, onto our next conquest"..But since he's on his FOURTH... then I say Google Ebonics, you dumb, twerp. Also, please explain paragraph#4, which, aside from being the LONGEST run-on sentence in the history of the written word, has ABSOLUTELY no meaning...
" If rush was on satellite, WE would pay for it. Because he's in such demand,"
now that's just funny!!! LOL
you know why he isn`t there already. cause he find out his 20 million was only maybe 12 million and maybe 8 million would be dumb enough to by a satellite radio and pay the yearly dues.
but i do enjoy you funny`s keep it up, well until you get banded LOL
PS he is on AM cause he is FREE to the stations.
I'm assuming you mean "banned", brilliant one. I consider it a badge of honor to get "banded", but I don't think it will happen....that would reduce FAT ED's blog to 17 participants. You pay to listen to Bill Maar, I get Rush for free.... EVERBODY is talkin about RUSH....who's the idiot, idiot???
Kalvis---it's Bill Maher if you're going to pick on spelling. Everybody's talkin' about Rush in the same vein that people in church would talk about the devil. That does not make it a good thing. Rush is an arrogant FAT putz, since we're talking FAT here. So---to coin your phrase---"Who's the idiot, idiot?"
Fair enuff..I'm not overly familiar with Bill...With regards to your first sentence, without the devil, there would be no need for church...try to see where I'm going with that...
Regarding the Gov. Kasich segment, Ed, can you imagine if Kasich had been governor of Louisiana during Hurricane Katrina?
Then Gov. Blanco (D-LA) formally requested federal disaster assistance 48 hours before Katrina hit. FEMA set-up a disaster command center in Baton Rouge. Coordination between FEMA and Gov. Blanco worked well up until the day New Orleans flooded. Republicans launched a vicious smear campaign, saying Gov. Blanco hadn't requested federal help beforehand. The FEMA coordinator in Baton Rouge reportedly said that someone higher-up in the Bush administration (at DHS?) was blocking his efforts to get federal aid into either Louisiana or New Orleans, with federal disaster even being rerouted, redirected elsewhere, to Mississippi and Alabama (two Katrina-hit states with Republican governors). DOD chief Donald Rumsfeld ordered the grounding of all U.S. military search-and-rescue helicopters. Gov. Blanco, faced with a dire situation after New Orleans flooded and with someone in the Bush administration blocking federal disaster aid, had to call the governors of other states for assistance.
Once again, can anyone imagine what a Gov. Kasich in Louisiana would have been like during Hurricane Katrina?
Just wondering how anyone can actually take Ed seriously. Did any of you listen to his radio show from Fargo before he "saw the light"? Oh yeah, he also signed a contract with a national news network (yes this one)? It was the Rush junior show... they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
Not really he is in fact my least favority MSNBC personality but that doesn't excuse Rush's comments or anyone else.......luckily Ed has chosen not to imitate Rush's three day slut/prostitute attack of a college student
I've not listened to Rush's latest, much better things to do. Step back and look at how we are being manipulated, it isn't just Rush and the radical right. Keep you're eye on the ball, or it'll be too late for future generations. They're stealing our future while we're distracted by this utterly disgusting circus. We are certainly not in danger of being remembered as the "greatest generation".
Who cares, Ed is a Progressive Liberal now and he is doing a good job on MS- NBC. We can trust Ed to tell the truth unlike Faux Fiction News. He is making the Republicans accountable and supports President Obama. Nothing else matters.
hold ed accountable for his garbage too then..http://youtu.be/LLeGQr9TK6g or are you yourself blind too.
MSNBC supports anything Liberal/democratic. thats their shctick. make republicans look bad no matter what..no even sided reporting at all. why else would they have a far left hard core liberal radio shock jock on MSNBC? he is not a actual media reporter or anchorman..he is a political hack and thats all.
bill,
and fox news does the same thing to the democratic party.
but, in no way is MSNBC comparable to fox news. fox news, at one point, had 5 republicans, who were employed by fox, planning to run for president. not that this is illegal, but i just proves that fox news is the propaganda wing nut of the repub party.
come on people it's called critical thinking!
