I know you are smarter than what you illustrated last night.
Rick Santorum was comparing the environment in Germany and England in 1936 with the environment we have today with Iran. The comparison is that Obama is Neville Chamberlain (not Hitler) trying to paint a better picture of the situation with Adolf Hitler while Obama is trying to paint a better picture of the situation with Mahamud Ammadinajad. Passifying bullies only encourages more bullying. Showing weakness only encourages more boldness from the Iranians as it did for Nazi Germany in the 1930s. We need a Churchill to deal with Ammadinijad. By the way, doesn't Obama look like Chamberlain and Ammadinijad look like Hitler? I think Newt looks like Churchill, but so do you.

So the N.Koreans are probably just as crazy if not crazier than Iranians so this idea that the world will end because they have the bomb isn't exactly all that accurate. We are assuming that as soon as they get the tech they will fire and destroy themselves....that's doubtful no ultra conservative religious regime is never as devout as it pretends to be
And then there's the fact that the current administration has done more than the previous one on Iran. Bush as a matter of fact had far more in common with Chamberlain with taking Libya off the terrorist sponsors list because Moamar said he'd stop pursuing nukes.
What has the Obama administration given Iran other than sanctions, just because this president isn't willing to start another mid east war doesn't mean this is appeasment. So what would you do? War? Another War?

But back to Rick Santorum I believe that for the most part Santorum is a straight shooter out of all the people in the GOP I would say that he and Ron Paul are among the most sincere and genuine. Santorum trully believes these things he says as does Congressman Paul so both are very devoted to their ideas more than a Newt Gingrich(exile him to the moon..pass it on) or Romney....now of course most of their ideas are crazy....but they are devoted to their crazy ideas. Having said this in the past Rick has not done what many in the party have engaged in and that is questioning the patriotism of others, the president's citizenship or religion, etc. he does not make these statements like many others this is why I was surprised to see that Santorum did not call out the birthers popping up at his rallies. Ordinarily I believe Santorum wouldn't tolerate such talk...but now he is running for office for pete's sake......
So this means he lets it pass and then when he is questioned as to why he said nothing he uses the defense that he can't vouch for all his supporters statements. Now this is true you can't call out every little crazy thing that people who like you say...it's just not realistic. However the fact is he is running for president and so in running he should know that people can easily make this an issue because it plays to the narrative of birtherism in the GOP. It would seem that Santorum doesn't believe it's his job to tell others what to think...and he's right.......strange part is that his entire campaign is predicated on telling others what to believe. Rick doesn't have a problem telling others what to believe any other day of the week.

Man, who's writing Santorum's material? Orrin Hatch? Is he seriously going to try to play that "religious discrimination" card? The historians will eat his lunch the same as they will Romney who's decided silence is the best policy on that one...
The real reason I thought of Hatch, though, is "radical environmentalist" is Orrin's favorite potty mouth insult. And in checking, I see Santorum grew up near Pittsburgh, same place as Utah's "carpetbag senator for life" who promised years ago to limit himself to two terms.

Please consider covering the tparty's attempt to dismantle public education. They are making very real progress. I would love for you to interview Katherine Stewart, the author of the Good News Club. I'm a "Middle of the Roader", there isn't anyone in the race that I think is a person who I am going to love to vote for, including all the Tea Partiers and Obama. Where is Howard Fineman getting his information. I was a member of the Steelworkers when Santorum was running against Bob Casey. I remember going to the convention and hearing Bill George, the head of the Pa. AFL-CIO, Leo Gerard, International President and other officers of the union rallying the troops for Casey. They referred to Santorum as "Ricky" in a derisive manner. I also remember handing out leaflets for the Steelworkers in support of Bob Casey. I know a "Friend of Labor" when I see one and Ricky sure ain't it.
