A day after saying President Barack Obama‘s agenda is about a "phony theology, not a theology based on the Bible," appearing to question the president’s Christianity, GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum compared the upcoming U.S. election to the American run-up to World War II, appearing to compare Obama to Adolf Hitler, the fascist ruler of Nazi Germany blamed for World War II and the Holocaust.
In remarks yesterday at First Redeemer Church in Cumming, Georgia, Santorum compared the lack of alarm and outrage over Obama’s agenda to American complacency prior to World War II:
“Remember, the Greatest Generation, for a year and a half, sat on the sidelines while Europe was under darkness, where our closest ally, Britain, was being bombed and leveled, while Japan was spreading its cancer all throughout Southeast Asia. America sat from 1940, when France fell, to December of ’41, and did almost nothing.
“Why? Because we’re a hopeful people. We think, ‘Well, you know, he’ll get better. You know, he’s a nice guy. I mean, it won’t be near as bad as what we think. This’ll be okay.’ Oh yeah, maybe he’s not the best guy, and after a while, you found out things about this guy over in Europe, and he’s not so good of a guy after all. But you know what? Why do we need to be involved? We’ll just take care of our own problems. Just get our families off to work and our kids off to school, and we’ll be okay.
“It’s sort of the optimistic spirit of America but sometimes, sometimes it’s not okay. It’s going to be harder for this generation to figure this out. There’s no cataclysmic event.
Santorum never mentioned names, but it seemed pretty clear that the "nice guy" was Obama and "this guy over in Europe” was Hitler. But Santorum flatly rejects that suggestion.
"No, of course not," Santorum said dismissively when asked by a National Journal-CBS News reporter whether he was comparing the two. "The World War II metaphor is one I've used 100 times in my career," he insisted.
But who else could he have been talking about? Even the Romney campaign thinks Santorum was comparing Obama to Hitler:
“Senator Santorum is spending his time talking about — questioning the existence of public schools, questioning prenatal testing. Just yesterday, he was talking about World War II and making a comparison between President Obama and Hitler,” Mitt Romney adviser Eric Fehrnstrom said today on MSNBC’s The Daily Rundown:
Santorum is seeking the highest office in the United States. And he's comparing Obama to Hitler? Remember what happened when Hank Williams, Jr. made that comparison?

By the way, Santorum also said he was not criticizing the president’s Christian faith with his "phony theology" remark at a tea party rally on Saturday in Columbus, Ohio, and was instead referring to Obama’s energy agenda.
Stewart later clarified, saying she "misspoke." Has she heard of the Freudian slip? And remember when Santorum failed to correct a voter in Iowa who called Obama a Muslim?:

Didn't Hitler start with the (evil,rich) Jewish bankers, eventually having to take over the banking industry to save Germans from Jewish greed. The idea that you call what President Obama is doing is a Theology is a twist of words that you should be ashamed of. You do not want me bashing Religious Theology do you? I was born and raised a Catholic so I can bash it from experience. Well, here it is...Religion in general is based on FEAR and compliance of a Theology that has no proven standing. You cannot scientifically prove the existence of the God as defined in the bible or any religious document. So, when you PREACH at the podium, you remind me of one of those people that does not let people have free will as defined in the holy bible that you stand behind. MJB, your question is easily answered by scripture. God spoke the world into existence already aged. He created animals and plants as full grown, and he did so with the earth strata as well.
Good job Tod, but just remember much we currently try to believe as fact isn't. Can you prove global warming? No, you have scientific data that shows what carbon should do and ozone holes that show our impact, but the climate changes are just not happening. Studies that showed it have been exposed as using faulty data, or just plain leaps of faith.
How about evolution? Not proven. We can see plant and animal adaptation, but no new species have evolved. The term "FEAR" is sometimes taken as "respect", as you should well know.
The God of the Bible gave man a free will and allows the consequences of their sin to happen (wars, famines, etc). His provision for that sin came in the form of his ultimate sacrifice, his son Jesus the Christ.
Finally, all things are provable, but we are not capable of understanding it yet. We humans may never posses the capacity of that level of understanding, maybe someday (as alluded to in Revelation).
I would love to debate this further, but this is a political site, such discussion is out of place here.

MJB...I am honored that you would ask me this question. This is not really a good place to further expand on that particular knowledge. I have already said too much probably, but it is a good and interesting question. I wrote an essay for you to ingest, but I simply do not think everyone needs to know what I think on that matter. It would also take up a lot of space on this page. Let me simply say that I do not believe that the current human DNA poofed into existence by some omnipotent being. Let us suffice it to say that I agree with the statement; "Any sufficiently advanced beings would be indistinguishable from GOD".
Jay, thanks for finally bringing up a valid point instead of the mindless spin and insults, I do disagree with many of Santorum's positions. My biggest one is abortion, I want a smaller, less intrusive government. Stay out of our bedrooms (my sexual preference is none of your business), living rooms (let me watch whatever I want to in my own home), kitchen (I like fried foods, and I will pack my kids what they like to eat), and garages (let me drive my gas guzzler, I am willing to buy the gas).
Currently the Federal Government is too involved with schools. I wish the Fed would set standards and ensure those are met without all the intrusion (check lunches?). I guess I'd agree with Santorum about getting the Federal Government out altogether. As for the States, they need to help communities fund public education, and standardize curriculum goals.

As for the people who wrote books in religion, they had NO idea what an atom was let alone what dark matter or raw plasma energy is. Heck, they thought the Earth was the center of the Universe. Why can't people understand that ignorance and then look at the bible or any religious document from that ERA with that in consideration? Do you not understand that they had no understanding that they lived on a planet in a solar system at the edge of a galaxy in a universe with 100's of millions of other galaxies? If you were to go back in time to the middle ages with any technology from today, they would think you are EVIL or a spawn of the Devil. The creation of the universe has many theories and I mean THEORIES, no different than what the BIBLE THEORIZES. There are to many people that take the THEORIES about the "creation" of the universe in the Bible as FACT, not FAITH. The bible shows NO PROOF that can be tested like we do in science. We test theories to determine if they are right or wrong. The same should apply to the bible or any religious document. Faith is not a reason to KILL PEOPLE like so many religions have done in the past and even now. So please, do not try to push what the bible says because I have read it. It was forced down my throat in Catholic bible school when I was young. I am well rounded as far as knowledge is concerned.
