DNC Video: "The Olympic Bailout"
Mitt Romney is headed to Utah tomorrow to celebrate (translation: congratulate himself on) the tenth anniversary of the Winter Olympics that he claims he saved from scandal and financial failure.
But the Democratic National Committee will have none of it. It's out today with a new video attacking Romney's hypocrisy about the whole Olympics matter.
Here's the deal: Romney tells us that his leadership of the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City is one of three basic reasons he's best qualified to be president (the other two being his record as governor of Massachusetts and running Bain Capital).
While Romney certainly deserves credit for turning the 2002 Winter Olympics around, and we give it to him here, he did it with $1.3 billion in TAXPAYER funding!
Yes, Mr. anti-government, anti-bailout, anti-earmarks reached into our pockets, got a whole pile of money, and then took full credit for turning the 2002 Winter Olympics around.
By the way, we're not slamming the American taxpayer bailout of the 2002 Winter Olympics (some of which was requested before Romney took over). After all, it was a fantastic event and paid significant dividends for the American people.
But by doing so, the government, through a bailout, picked a winner, Mr. Romney. So don't turn around six, eight or ten years later and say loans to save the auto industry and jobs are out of bounds and think nobody's going to notice the hypocrisy.
Oh, speaking of hypocrisy, the DNC ad shows a few clips of a disgusted Sen. John McCain, calling the Olympics bailout a "national disgrace." Keep in mind, McCain, the GOP presidential nominee in 2008, would endorse Romney for president in 2012.

People in the military can not give their pets to the local shelters, be cause they might not be there when they get back because of over crowding. You can be their dog sitter for a given period of time and then they can retrieve the dog when they return from service. Give it a read.

Wish I could write poetry like MsT. I would write about the lies, broken promises, and outright violations of the Constitution by liberals own messiah who promised hopey changey stuff but produced huge tax and spend.
I'm sorry how does that change the fact that Mitt Romney said that this action taken with the auto industry would result in its downfall and now it's doing just fine. No one else's successes and failure can change the reality so this is nothing but predictable deflection from someone who apperantly thinks people here are stupid enough to forget that Mitt has flopped on this and every other major issue several times. Romney will say anything to get elected and you will say anything to try and defend that.

In my opinion Obama loses in November is sadly mistaken on who created this fiasco. It was none other than George W Bush that got us into this mess. With two wars that were not paid for and the tax breaks that he handed to the wealthy on a silver platter. I find it funny that people place the blame on President Obama or any other politician that inherited the same type of problem for that matter that has to clean up the mess that the former person in charge made.

1.3 billion!! Almost anyone could have saved the Olympics with that much money at their disposal. I'm sure there were other people just as qualified as the Mittster. He just got lucky they picked him. Now he can use it to embellish his resume.
Kind of like Walker using funds awarded to Wisconsin for the illegal foreclosures and using some of it to plug the holes in his deficit. Isn't that political embezzlement?
Why can't Obama or somebody from the Federal government tell him he can't do that, that it must be given to homeowners or he'll have to give it back and the Feds will see to it that it goes to the right place?
He learned it from Slick Rick Perry MJB. Perry took the stimulus funds for Texas and used it to plug his deficit also.
If Old Mitt had any wits he would praise the turn around of car industry. But he has no clue just a car topper full of pooh! We have read where many from Michigan say get in your car and go away. He flips and he flops. Thanks to Obama who had a clue what to do. He saved the car industry and jobs to. Old MIT would have just said "YOUR FIRED! And sent the car industry to China and enjoyed the spoils with BAIN !!!!
