We need to lower the corporate tax rate, which is like the second or third highest in the free world I believe, and get business going again. I have a hard time understanding why the left continues to say that economy has sucked so bad over the last 30 years. When Reagan took office, the Dow was less than 1,000 and today it is over 12,600. If people had simply invested a small amount of money from every paycheck instead of spending it on bigger houses, more cars, more TV's, etc, etc, etc they would be doing great. I know the left hates to hear it, but it seems to me that it comes down to a concept of PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY.

Right so what if the market crashed well new guy with the same old rants we have debunked more times then tap has talking points. The market crashed because of supply side economics what the lords didn't tell you serfs was that for supply side economics to work it needs to be greased with easy accessible credit lines to get people to buy products they don't need without having the cash on hand to buy it. As soon as the credit starts drying up businesses start shedding employees thus creating less people able to buy products which leads to more lay offs until the whole house of supply side cards to come crashing down. It doesn't matter who was in congress at the moment of the crash as the damage started the day supply side started and the only way it could be stopped was at the beginning of the cycle, meaning supply side wasn't used. That is why the market crashed in 84, 92 and 2008 all years when credit was no longer easy to get.

Can someone tell me how it is possible for something that has increased over 1200% is a crash? Yes...if you invested your money the day before it dropped and took it out the next day, you probably lost money. However, if you were patient and waited over time, you have done fine. Heck, under the Republican Congress over the last 2 years, the market is up about 20%
Also, can someone tell me how anything that a conservative says is just a "talking point" but everything that a liberal says is considered to be almost like gospel?

Why rusty it was Reaganomics along with Reaganomics on steroids from GWB that caused this mess so you want to punish the democrats for problems created long ago by an insane doddering old fool of a 3rd rate movie actor who played second fiddle to a Chimp. What created this income inequality was a direct result of Reagan taxing the working man to give wealthy tax cuts. What don't you get rusty when the working mans wages remain flat while the cost of living raises unchecked more and more people no longer make a living wage so less and less workers can pay taxes to cover the tax cuts to the wealthy. Why? Because when a worker is paid at or below the poverty line it means they are just surviving and after paying their bills they have nothing left for the government to take, thus we get a 0 sum. What should bother you is the 47% of the working class no longer make enough in wages to be taxed. But not you GOP types you want to blame workers for not making enough wages to be taxed when it is their employers not paying them a living wage. And with fewer and fewer jobs created that pays a living wage that means more and more workers apply for those living wage jobs and more and more end up in low wage dead end jobs.

Didn't Bush I raise taxes by a record amount (recall- "No New Taxes" being played over and over again in Democrat ads in 92- makes you wonder why no Republican will turn back- ever again. Drill- I've said the same thing on here. My company is trying its best to hire numerous positions. The management positions go a long time before being filled (in the vicinity of $60k+) and we've taken to just hiring factory floor people and letting attendance weed out a bunch fairly quickly. Of the 50% that prove they can show up to work, we weed an additional 30% out because they just can't perform. All this said- we've added a net of about 1200 jobs since the first of 2010, just at one facility. At this point- it appears we've exhausted any semblance of a qualified hiring pool.

Sounded pretty good for the most part....thing is with Obama ....his speeches talking about his policies sound good but the actual actions are not...Look at Obama Care....yea...I like the stuff about Pre-existing conditions etc....However, then he throws a huge amount of legislation that nobody understands or cares to read....why? I hope I'm wrong....It would be nice to get rid of tax loopholes....but did he say anything about a simplified tax code??? What about campaign finance reform??? Overall, I liked his speech but I think it is too little too late.
