Pennsylvania public schools win a round against Republican Governor Tom Corbett's effort to kill off an entire school district, but the fight is far from over.
"Yes, my friends, this is America. Shamefully, it`s America," Ed said. "We need to do something about it."
Sara Ferguson, an elementary school math and literacy teacher, and George Walker, a middle school special education teacher, join Ed to talk about their fight to save Chester Upland public schools.

Their agenda is becoming so blatant, I find it scary. They plan to bring us down. I wonder if they when they have us all in soup lines, they will be happy? Keep the American dumb and down trodden. Oh what a lovely life they have planned for us. For God sakes do not ever vote republican.
*=*=*= WAKE UP BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE, AMERICA =*=*=*
Find out if the district receives any Title 1 Federal money for students that qualify for free or redused lunch. If so, how has the district distributed it to the public and/ or charter schools.
Republicans are betting on the ignorancy of over 50% of the citizens of USA. But for those who they can fool, we are typecast as rebels. Educational Institution will be first to get eliminated under the Republican Party. They would love for us to all be ignorant and illiterates. They all sing the same song.....Santorum, Mitt Romney, Ron Paul, and Newt Gingrich. Sad but True.

GOT TO REPEAT THIS COMMENT, A VERY IMPORTANT WORD WAS NOT INCLUDED.
Public education is an essential component of US national security because rising ignorance will render the US susceptible to threats.
Those threats include GOP policies, like in 2006 when Pres. Bush collapsed real estate values by making Mexicans illegal after legalizing predatory lending. You could hear the stampede as the banks failed when the renters fled the country.
That would never had happened if the average voter had the education necessary to realize Pres. Bush's policies would make that happen.
It probably would have helped if Bush had an education as well.
From cheerleader to president. Holy crap.
The republican party has waged a war on America and it dose not matter how old or young there victims are. Bush began the war on teachers and students with "No CHILD LEFT BEHIND" ! State after state, school after school , student after student and teacher after teacher are the carnage left behind when Government dictates the out come. I ask when did the teaching profession become a dishonorable one? Children are our greatest treasure and they are really being shot changed! We need to stand up for teachers and our kids NOW !!!!
One thing that I see happening in this debate is the division of teachers based on public schools vs. charter schools. Charter schools and cyber schools are not the enemy. Yes, it's true that charter schools do receive funding from the school districts the students would attend, but not 100% of the money that the schools designate at their per-pupil-rate. The state also reimburses the home districts a portion of that money.
Charter schools offer a choice for students whose parents feel the child would be more successful in a different environment. If charter schools close, the students may go back to their regular district, which increases class sizes and puts more burden on already overcrowded classrooms and underpaid teachers.
I have taught in a traditional classroom and I now teach for a cyber charter school. My wife teaches in our home school district. Neither system is perfect, but there are dedicated teachers in regular schools and charter schools that care about the students. Teachers don't choose this career for the money! It feels like the politicians are creating this "us vs them" mentality for their own gains.
Charter schools are designed to circumvent public scrutiny while using more public funds than other public schools.Charter schools are also a way of steering courses away from fact and into a more religious based fiction arena.
Why on Earth should one public school get more funding simply because it calls itself a charter school?
Note also that although charter schools are publicly funded they can pick and chose who attends.
It is not true that all charter schools can pick and choose who attends. The school where I work must take students that apply and are eligible. There are situations where expelled students must go through a process first. If we could pick and choose our students, we would have only the "best" students. Students at our school cover a wide spectrum of abilities. We have special education students, average students, and honors level students. We do our best to educate all of them.
It sounds like you are getting some specific information about a certain charter school, or schools, and making blanket statements about all of them. There is enough incorrect information out there about charter schools already.
